Solution: make the coasters yourself!!!

We will need:

1. Wooden blanks (a carpenter friend made them according to a sketch, he immediately drilled holes of the required diameter),

2. Ski poles (old ski poles are hollow, easy to work with and easy to find, you just need to saw off the right height), I needed pieces of 25 - 34 cm in height.

3. Wire 3-5mm in diameter (diameter depends on the load the wire will carry. For example, 20-inch dolls are held by 3mm wire, but for 22-25 inches it is better to use 4mm). I really liked the wire, which is called "Stalinist", it used to be lying around the streets in abundance. Now it can be bought in the store for about 200 rubles per kilogram. In the photo, there is approximately 500 g of wire in a coil. This is enough for me for a long time.

4. Putty on wood of the desired color (I have “Parade”, the color is “birch”, but considering that the top coat will not shine through, the color is not important), it does not smell.

5. The spatula is soft (it's more convenient)

6. Sandpaper (medium and fine),

7. paint in a can,

8. Twine (any other thread-ropes for finishing the riser),

9. Soft curlers (I used rubber curlers, size 04, 02, there are 4 of them in a pack, the color scheme only let us down),

10. Stretch velvety fabric for the bottom of the coaster (you can stick it on the bottom and velvet paper, but I didn’t like it),

11. Glue "Moment Crystal", PVA,

12. Pliers,

13. Pencil or fabric crayon

Stage 1. Street or balcony. Preparation of blanks and riser.

It is best to do this stage of work in the fresh air (dust and smell are not our comrades =)

1) Cut out a blank of the desired diameter and height. It is important to think over the height and diameter of the blank, this is necessary for the stability and reliability of the structure - for 22-inch dolls I took a height of 3.5 cm, a diameter of 21 cm. A hole (equal to the diameter of a ski pole) was drilled 3.5 cm from the edge.

My blank was already sawn out of the required diameter and a hole was drilled in it, corresponding to the diameter of a piece of ski pole.

2) From the old ski pole, cut off a piece of the desired length (the length of the future riser + the length of the part recessed at the base) The edge, which will be carefully turned from above.

3) Sand the blank with a large or medium sandpaper, then shake off the dust and apply putty on wood (we apply the putty very carefully and in a thin layer - there will be less trouble with grinding later. We dry the workpiece for a day. The longer the workpiece dries, the more difficult it will be to grind it later - fact!

4) We skin the dried up blank with fine sandpaper and leave it to dry.

5) Thoroughly remove the dust from the completely dried blank and cover it with paint. I painted in 2-3 layers with drying for 6-12 hours. There is no point in painting the bottom of the blank - there will be velvet.

Stage 2. Homemade, less odorous. Design and assembly.

1) Glue velvet fabric or paper on the bottom of the blank (you first need to circle the blank on the fabric and cut it out). To do this, we coat the bottom with glue and apply a cloth, level it and put it under the press (I have encyclopedias). Stretch fabrics are easily leveled, while paper can be damaged. Let it dry, and then carefully cut the fabric, removing the peeking edges (if any).

2) The finished base (aka blank) is reunited with the riser holder. If you need the stand to be collapsible, then the riser is not glued into the base, and if you need to attach the holder to the base tightly (or pierced with a hole diameter and the riser “walks”), then it makes sense to glue the riser into the base with any reliable glue (for example, “Moment ").

3) We decorate the riser along the entire length in any way. I used twine for large coasters, and brown iris-type threads for small coasters. We first fix the tip to the glue, and then hide it by winding the threads on top. I smeared the riser with glue and wound the threads - then the thread does not unwind and does not crawl. From above, we hide the tip of the twine with the help of an assistant thread. Gently saturate the threads with PVA glue from above by a centimeter, when it dries, it will be completely invisible.

4) We cut the wire to the desired length. For example, for a 22-inch doll, I needed 58 cm of wire (30 cm for the arms and 28 cm for the holder). First, we bend in half, then measure 14 cm from the center of the fold in both directions and bend it at a right angle to the sides - we get the letter “T”, now we form girths from the “ears”. To be completely thoughtful, we bend the ends of the wire for the complete safety of the doll (you can also bend the ends of the “ear holders” after covering them with rubber, then it will be more convenient to pull the braid).

5) We take out the wire rods from the curlers (they can not be thrown away - they can be useful in the manufacture of coasters for babies, and even so, on the farm ... this is Plyushkin boring me). We stretch the rubber parts of the curlers on the "ears" of the stand. We cut off the excess.

And now examination:

1. Stands are made for 6 dolls. Three smaller ones and three larger ones.

2. We calculate the costs:

Blanks (the exact price is unknown, because I got them for free, although I met them for 25-50 rubles somehow in a store) let it be 50 * 6 = 300 rubles,

Ski poles - free of charge,

Wire (I got it for free - my beloved uncle unwound it from his old stocks, but the other day I saw it in a hardware store 6 mm in diameter at 200 rubles per kilogram. Simple arithmetic: in my half-kilogram skein for 13 dolls, thus, it took 6 coasters about 250 g) 250g = 50-60 rubles.

Putty - 72 rubles.

Spatula - 25 rubles.

Sandpaper - 30 rubles.

Paint in a can - 320 rubles, it was enough for all the coasters and there is still some left.

Twine - 42 rubles.

Threads "Iris" - 25 rubles.

Glue "Moment Crystal" - 45 rubles.

Curlers 3 packs of 4 pieces (although I only took a whole one for large coasters, and for small ones - half per “ear”) - let it be roughly 3 * 92 = 279 rubles.

Velvet (I don’t know, I had such a fabric in scraps and got it for free), but I think that 30 cm with a width of 120 cm would be enough, and this is about 40 rubles.

Total: 1238 rubles. for 6 coasters

Thus, one stand would cost 206 rubles, but it’s even cheaper for me, because. blanks, wire, velvet and iris did not have to be bought. My coasters cost me about 136 rubles, as well as a day in snatches and an evening full of time.

Today, collecting dolls made by hand, to order, as well as bought from limited editions or simply popular ones, has become widespread. Of course, no one wants to store such a collection in a drawer. The material is the most environmentally friendly, but also the most difficult for beginners, and for masters without specific equipment. But, on the other hand, a wooden base can always be made to order or bought ready-made. For example, as a stand, you can use a wooden casing or a hot stand made of wood.

If for the manufacture of a wooden stand it is possible to make the base yourself, then for this you need to take a flat bar of a suitable size and weight. If there is a need, then cut out the base of the desired shape with a jigsaw. Carefully sand the workpiece on all sides.

Stepping back a little, drill a hole for a wooden rack from the edge or in the center. The place for the hole and its size depend on how the doll will be attached to this stand and how thick the stand is. If desired, paint the workpiece with paint or burn out the pattern with a soldering iron. Then open with varnish.

This type of coasters is made of cardboard (2 mm thick) or newspaper tubes. Consider how to make a base out of these materials.

For a cardboard stand you will need:

cardboard;
office paper or napkin;
PVA glue;
glue Moment;
sandpaper;
acrylic paints;
acrylic lacquer.

Depending on the desired thickness and size of the stand, cut 6-10 pieces of cardboard. Cut the same circles from the pieces.

Glue the circles with Moment glue and put under the press for an hour. Sandpaper to process all the bumps on the sides.

Paste the workpiece with crumpled office paper and dry it in the oven. Color and varnish as desired. Make a hole for the holder.

Base made of newspaper tubes. Prepare newspaper tubes. To do this, cut the newspaper page into 4 strips. On the knitting needle, start winding the newspaper strip from the corner. If the needle is covered with newspaper, move it back and continue winding. When the newspaper is over, glue the tip with PVA glue.

Take the first tube and wind it on the future rack. When the first stick is over, the rack can be removed. Wind the tubes so much that the diameter of the base is sufficient for a stable stand.

Make several of these discs, but each one is slightly smaller than the previous one.

Assemble the stand. To do this, each new disk is well glued to the previous one.

Decorate the resulting pyramid as desired.

Construction material

Consider in this master class how to make a stand for a plaster doll. The main materials are gypsum, thick wire, metal tube.

Take the wire along the length 3 times the height of the stand. Bend in half, form a ring for the stand, and then a holder according to the size of the doll. Pass the ends of the wire through a metal tube.

To make the base, choose any unnecessary plastic mold. Dilute gypsum in the required proportion (indicated on the package) and pour into the mold. Insert rack, leave to dry at room temperature. After a few hours, remove from the mold, but leave to dry for a while. Glue does not adhere to wet plaster, and the base can be easily damaged.

Decorate as you wish. Can be painted with paints, covered with fabric or corrugated paper.

And first, we will show a master class on making a wooden stand for tall rare or porcelain dolls. Wooden stand, of course, is more durable and practical. Compared to paper or even plaster. To make such a stand we need:

pine board;
silver aluminum tube;
glue (epoxy resin);
masking tape;
galvanized wire with a diameter of 3 mm;
drill and drill No. 10;
jigsaw for wood;
heat shrink tube with a diameter of 7 mm;
wood stain.

So, with the help of a plate or any other rounded material, we outline on the board the dimensions of the base of the future stand. Using a jigsaw, we cut out a circle along the already marked line, and mark a place for the tube on it.

We sand the circle with sandpaper and drill a hole in the intended place. To prevent epoxy from getting on the surface of our base, it is necessary to seal the hole on both sides with tape. Next, on the front side of the workpiece, we make a hole in the adhesive tape using an aluminum tube. Mix the epoxy according to the instructions.

We grease the end of the aluminum tube with resin, insert it into the hole made and let it harden. After that, remove the adhesive tape and both sides of the base. Now we will process our base with a stain. In order not to stain the aluminum tube, we wrap it with tape at the bottom. We undermine the workpiece with decorative impregnation and wait for complete drying.

We grind the circle with fine sandpaper and again cover with stain. Dry and remove the adhesive tape from the aluminum tube. After that, you need to put the doll on a stand, measure and mark with a pencil an extra piece of the tube, and then saw it off.

Now you need to bend the wire into a convenient supporting structure and put a heat shrink tube on its edges. Further, by heating it over the flame of a gas stove, it is necessary to achieve its uniform seating over the entire surface.

The ends that are soldered to the wire of the tube can be clamped with pliers. We cut off all the excess plastic at the ends of the wire with scissors and sand it with fine sandpaper to give a smooth surface to our product.

Well, now the stand is ready, it remains only to test it in practice.

Another very common series of dolls are barbies, which can be found in almost every house where there are girls of different age categories. Creating a stand for such a doll is not difficult.

For this you need:

two caps from plastic bottles;
old disk;
aluminum tube;
Super glue;
a small piece of tin from an old coffee can.

In one of the covers, we remove the bottom and a small piece of the side wall.

Now you need to line a rectangular piece of tin. And bend along the marked lines in three additions.

We insert the free ends of the tin piece into the aluminum tube. We drill a hole in the second cover and insert the second end of the tube there.

We glue the strips in turn, because in this way they dry much faster. Each subsequent strip must be glued end-to-end of the previous strip, and so on, up to the required volume.

For the strength of the base, it must be smeared on all sides with some and allowed to dry.

Now let's make a holder. To do this, we bend the occasion, so that a supporting structure is obtained.

To make the holder look nice, you can wrap it with thread or paint it to your liking.

12. To prevent the stain from getting on the surface of the aluminum tube, we wrap the aluminum tube with adhesive tape at the place where it enters the wooden blank.
13. We cover the workpiece with decorative impregnation for wood (mordant).
14. Hang to dry.
15. We grind with fine sandpaper (grain 150).
16. Re-coat the workpiece with decorative impregnation for wood.
17. Hang to dry.
18. Remove the tape from the aluminum tube.
19. We put the doll on a stand, lean it against an aluminum tube, mark the place of the cut with a simple pencil on the tube.
20. According to the markings left on the tube, we saw off an extra piece with a hacksaw.
21. We bend the wire into a blank supporting the body of the doll, bend the ends.
22. We put a heat shrink tube on the ends of the bent wire.

Instruction

Make a wooden base. Almost any flat piece of wood will work for it. The most important thing is that it has dimensions and weight that fit the parameters. Sand the top and bottom edges of the workpiece, then process its side parts. Usually the base has the shape of a circle, less often a rectangle.

If you are using a wooden plank as a support, then drill a hole in the middle of the base. The rack itself is a wooden block (bar) on which there is a metal ring. It is on it that it is attached. Fix the ring on the bar. To do this, it also needs to drill a small hole through which the ends of the wire will be passed.

Varnish the base plate. Lubricate the lower end of the rack bar with glue, then insert it into the base. Make sure that the joint is glued firmly enough so that it will not fall apart in the event of a slight impact.

If you use metal elements for fastening as a rack, then it will be easiest for them to take a three-core copper wire with a diameter of 6. It is used to connect washing machines, so finding such a wire is not difficult. Remove the winding and divide the wire into separate strands, then twist 2 or 3 of them, depending on the mass of the doll.

Drill two holes in the wooden base for the wire, insert it so that you get an inverted letter U, the ends of which are in the wooden stand. The wire can be fixed using special glue.

The stand is usually decorated to make it look more natural. You can hide it among the doll's clothes, for example, under a long dress. Another option is to decorate the stand in accordance with the character of the doll, for example, imitate a wooden fence or paint the stand under a stone - it all depends on the image of the doll and on your imagination.
