Christmas wreath of branches, twigs and vines: master classes with photos. DIY wreath of birch branches How to weave a wreath of birch branches

Traditionally, Christmas wreaths appear in homes on the eve of Christmas.

Most often, they decorate doors and fireplaces, and any interior is filled with anticipation of the holiday.

You can also decorate a large mirror in a wide frame with a wreath on a satin ribbon, attach it to a cornice and decorate curtains, or even use it to decorate a Christmas table by placing candles inside the wreath.

I have talked many times about how to dowith my own hands, because for me this topic is relevant - there are no Christmas trees here. And according to this wreath - a real lifesaver.

So today I will tell you how to make from rods. To make such wreath very simple. It does not require any special decorations. All the necessary elements can be found in the park on a walk. The basis of the Christmas wreath is flexible birch branches, and the decoration is various cones, nuts, twigs. These branches are thin, flexible, well folded into a circle and do not break. Additionally, you can decorate with small Christmas balls for contrast.

So, we go to the park (or to the forest) and collect branches. You can collect everything "that lies badly": birch, willow, any shrubs and trees even unknown to you: o). Of course, you don’t need to cut off the bush under a clean one, a couple of branches from one tree - and to the next. We love nature! Take branches not thick, but not too thin.

Before you start creating, you need to keep in mind that the cut rods dry pretty quickly and become non-plastic, so if you decide to make a wreath with your own hands, you should not put it off for a long time.
At home, we collect all the branches in one neat bundle, bandage. We place our creation in a bath or where it’s not a pity (suddenly you have a gilded bath: o), fill it with hot water. And we go to drink tea... For about an hour.

After that, you need to twist the wreath. There are several options here:

Method 1. Make a wire frame and wrap it with rods. However, the wire still needs to be found: o)

Method 2. If you did not pre-soak the branches, then before forming a circle from the rods, each branch must be bent for every 5 cm, otherwise it may break during operation.

We form a circle from one long branch.

Then, holding the braided ends of the first branch and the beginning of the second in one hand, we braid the first circle with the other. And so on, branch after branch. Gradually, the branches begin to cling to each other.

After the branches are all wound, we take a water-based paint (for example, matte for interior work, it almost does not smell and dries quickly) or acrylic paint. When painting the wreath, use a dry brush with a small amount of paint on the tip.

We paint our wreath. Let's dry. Then, for greater beauty, we sprinkle with gold paint from a spray can (sold in a hardware store or in a car).

That's it - the hardest part is over! You can decorate the finished wreath with satin ribbons, beads, Christmas decorations, bells, felt figurines, birds, decorative flowers and even gingerbread cookies.

You can hang it by ribbons from the ceiling (if you have something to tie to), on a nail to a wall or on a door.

The wreath, of course, can not be painted.

Method 3. And if you also managed to pick up cones in the forest, then you can arrange a wreath in such an interesting way.

For this we need: birch branches; various cones: pine cones, larch cones (you can also use medium-sized spruce cones, acorns), walnuts, dried twigs "crackers" ; glue gun or some kind of silicone glue in a tube; silver paint in a can; small Christmas balls; satin ribbon; two bells.
The cones must be dried on the battery so that they open.

Take several branches, form a circle and tie their ends. We fold the birch branches into a bundle, of such thickness that the bundle is completely covered by the palm of your hand. We fasten the bundle in the middle with a strong thread. Then we fasten again after 10-15 cm - and so on in a circle. At the end, we overlap the branches on each other and fasten with a thread.
Wind the rest of the branches on top. Those. wrap around an already made frame of branches. We fill the ends in the branches themselves (like the end of a thread in a ball). It turns out here is such a bezel from birch branches.

We distribute decorative elements on the base and compose a composition. Don't glue yet, as you may want to change the order of the decorations.

As soon as you finally make sure that the composition is finished, you can start gluing.

After the glue is completely dry and all the decor is firmly in place, we proceed to paint our Christmas wreath in silver. I think you know that we do this in a well-ventilated room or on the street - using a spray of silver paint.

Before you make the basis for a wreath with your own hands, you should decide what materials are within walking distance and are not classified as expensive. A variety of materials can be used as the basis for a wreath.

DIY Christmas wreath

Before you make a wreath of branches with your own hands, it will be useful to know that the most suitable material is willow, birch, oak, etc.).

DIY Easter wreath

Young flexible twigs (willows can peel off the bark) are twisted into a ring and secured with wire, fishing line or rope. The base must be left to dry for several days. After drying, the branches will retain an annular shape. Before you make a wreath of rods with your own hands, you can choose different diameters of circles and form blanks of different diameters.

Straw base.

Straw also needs to be rolled up and secured with wire or fishing line.

Wire base.

For such a base, it is desirable to use a thick wire or a wire folded in several rows.

Cardboard base.

Any thick cardboard will do. Cut out a circle of the desired diameter from cardboard with a hole in the center. For strength (especially if using corrugated cardboard), cut out 2 circles and glue them together.

Foam base

Foam base.

Sold ready-made, of different diameters in stores for creativity. There is a base for double-sided wreaths (can be decorated on both sides) and a base for a wreath, where only the upper part is decorated.

To create a wreath, you can use a floristic ring-shaped base of piaflora for dried flowers or an "oasis" for living plants.

The porous structure of these materials helps to hold the decorative elements on the wreath.

Such (different diameters) wreaths can be bought in needlework stores. These foundations are already beautiful in themselves; one bright decorative element is enough to decorate them.

Newspaper base.

Several newspapers are rolled up and a ring is formed, everything is fixed with tape. Such a base has a “non-marketable” appearance, so it must be decorated with something on top, for example, covered with a cloth.

Draw a circle of the desired diameter on a piece of paper, then carefully squeeze the foam out of the can and let it dry. Excess hardened foam can be cut off with a sharp knife. From one balloon, several bases are obtained at once, which can be decorated with fabric, sisal or moss.

  • If you are making a light, airy wreath, then choose a base that is not very heavy. Stop your choice on a wire base or a base of twigs.
  • For a solid, heavy wreath, the base is chosen more durable. Here it is better to use a foam base or made from construction foam.

Before you make a decorative wreath with your own hands, you need to consider options for its decorations, design style and overall design. Take a look around and you will see how many interesting materials are around that you can use to decorate a wreath. It all depends on your taste. Any materials are suitable for decoration, from the remnants of paper, wallpaper and ending with natural materials that can be found on a walk: leaves of various trees, berries, fruits, acorns, cones, herbs, cereals.

Examples of how you can make an artificial wreath with your own hands without any financial costs:

  • fresh flowers, plants, cereals, leaves, twigs with fruits;
  • dry cereals and leaves, dry meadow grasses; A wide variety of ornamental and wild plants lend themselves to drying. Cereals (wheat, oats, etc.), various meadow herbs look especially beautiful in wreaths. There are many different ways to preserve flowers and plants. Here are just a few of them: drying in a natural state, hanging (herbs, cereals, buttercups, roses, etc.); drying in sand, silica gel (for example, the buds of some flowers are dried); drying in cotton wool, etc.
  • dried flowers (lagurus, commonly called "hare's tail", decorative yarrow, helichrysum, statica, amaranth, etc.), poppy pods, mature echinacea inflorescences, ornamental onion inflorescences, dried roses, etc.;
  • sisal, coconut fiber, bast;
  • pine and spruce cones, acorns, moss, bark and various tree branches;
  • remnants of beautiful wrapping paper, wallpaper, corrugated paper;
  • various ribbons, braid, lace, sewing, beads, rhinestones, beads, etc.;
  • buttons of various colors and sizes, wooden, cardboard and plastic elements (they are also used in decoupage and scrapbooking);
  • artificial flowers, decorative fruits and vegetables, etc.

Basic tools you may need to get the job done

Basic tools you may need to get the job done

Glue gun and glue gun rods. This is a very handy tool that greatly facilitates the work when decorating. Everything can be glued to the base with a gun: twigs, herbs, flowers, fabric, paper, wooden elements, etc.

Attention! Observe safety precautions when using a glue gun.

Wire. A stiffer wire is used to create the base, a softer one (wire that is used in beading or floristic) - to attach decorative elements to the base.

Floral teip tape in various colors. This is a thin elastic tape in a reel with a slight adhesive effect. The tape is used in various types of creativity: in quilling (paper rolling), in the manufacture of flowers on wire, candy trees, beaded jewelry, etc. When using the floral tape, you should stretch it a little so that it sticks to the stem better. Under the influence of the heat of the hands, the adhesive properties of the tape appear, it seems to be glued to the surface. With its help, it is convenient to bundle herbs, cereals, flowers, etc. into bundles.

Fishing line. It can be used to tie twigs into a wreath, in which case it will be practically invisible, respectively, the wreath will look more aesthetically pleasing.

Household super glue for gluing small elements, such as rhinestones or beads.

Wire cutters.

STEP #1
STEP #2

Decorative wreaths on the front doors are becoming increasingly popular in our country. At the same time, the wreath is a symbolic decoration, because the circle means a return to the place of departure. Therefore, a wreath on the front door is both a talisman capable of returning your loved ones to their beloved home, and a stylish seasonal interior decoration.

In order to make a wreath, you first need to think about the base and what material it will be made of. How to make the base, I will tell in two videos that show in detail the process of creating and decorating a wreath. You can fantasize about different decor options: ears of corn, herbs, dried flowers, any natural or artificial materials.

The first video shows how to make a base from short branches. Birch branches were used in the video, but you can take any thin branches that bend and can be fixed with wire.

Photos of the finished wreath of artificial twigs, which were attached to the wire and were used mainly to show the final result in detail. However, even in this state, the decoration can be hung on the door!

The second video shows how to make a wreath from long branches. Vine branches were used. To create such a base, you will not need anything other than your hands and branches.

Such a vine base can be hung on a door or wall without even decorating it.

And some photos for inspiration!

All creative mood and inspiration. Good luck!

Our favorite holiday - New Year - is just around the corner. One often hears complaints that, they say, the holiday is approaching, but there is no corresponding mood. However, if you sit and wait until someone comes and creates it for us, you can sit all your life, but never wait - you have to do miracles yourself.

Where to begin? Perhaps, from the creation of New Year and Christmas interior decorations, especially since you can’t even approach similar things in stores now - truly beautiful ones are prohibitively expensive. With your own hands, you can create a real work of art that no one else will have, because you will only make it in accordance with your own taste and imagination. To begin with, let's make from willow twigs.

Materials for the New Year's wreath

  • Rods - their number depends on how voluminous your wreath will be
  • Wire - a small coil
  • Glue or glue gun
  • cones
  • small size
  • Lace
  • Christmas tinsel or rain
  • Artificial snow or Styrofoam crumbs
  • Spray can of paint - silver or gold
  • Rose hips or rowan berries
  • Two tablespoons of starch

Where to find willow twigs

The first thing to do is to collect branches for our wreath. It’s good if a willow grows near your house, from which you can cut several branches, but if it’s not nearby, it doesn’t matter, there will be a reason to take a walk to the nearest park or forest, and at the same time get some fresh air. It is the willow that we need because the branches of this tree, as folklore testifies, “bend but do not break,” which is very important for a wreath.

However, if for some reason you do not find willow twigs, any other branches will fit, just keep in mind that there will be more trouble with it - due to their fragility, they will have to be fastened more often.

How to make a New Year's wreath - we fasten the branches

Now let's start weaving a wreath: having trimmed the branches along the length, roll them up with a “donut” and firmly fix the ends with a wire. To be sure that at the most important moment your wreath will not fall apart, fasten the rods in a few more places.

Or you can buy a blank for a wreath and decorate it as you wish.

How to prepare cones

After making sure that the "blank" is holding tight, you can proceed to the decoration, which, as we have said, depends only on your imagination. The task is to randomly attach all the details that you have prepared for it to the wreath. But first they need to be properly processed.

The cones can be left in their, so to speak, original form, but if you don’t want to get your hands dirty with resin at the most inopportune moment, you can first boil them in an old saucepan or basin. They will darken after cooking, but don't let that scare you. Spread the wet cones on paper, after drying, they will acquire a presentable appearance - they will become light and straighten out. Paint them with paint from an aerosol can and dry them - along with Christmas tree decorations, you can attach them to a wreath.

How to prepare lace

The lace prepared by us for decoration must be processed in advance with a paste, boiled at the rate of: two tablespoons of starch per glass of sugar. After wetting the lace in the paste, give it the desired shape - for example, a flower - and leave it to dry completely.

Of course, lace blanks can be treated with PVA glue - it will also allow them to keep their shape well, but thanks to starch they will gleam, which is the first thing for New Year's decorations. We fasten lace, ribbons and twigs with rose hips or rowan berries, tinsel or rain with a glue gun.

"Snow" on a New Year's wreath

The last stage of work - let's call it hoisting a cherry on a cake: we sprinkle a wreath, and in the absence of it, we glue foam plastic crumbs to it. Although if you just paint the twigs in a wreath with white paint, it will also turn out original.

That's it, our wreath is ready - you can hang it on the door so that happiness, kindness and well-being know which house to look into first.

DIY wreath of birch branches

Wreaths of birch branches are often used in floristry, creating interior compositions and home decorations. However, this decorative element is not so easy to find in flower shops. Fortunately, making a wreath with your own hands is not at all difficult, in today's master class we will share with you a step-by-step instruction for making birch wreaths.

Necessary materials:

birch branches

small pliers

Black wire 0.65 mm

For birch branches we go to the park. It is not necessary to cut them from trees, dry fallen branches will serve just as well. Especially now, in the spring, when it is humid outside, the branches on the ground are a little soaked and will form well into a ring. Choose thin flexible shoots up to 4 mm thick and 60-70 cm long.

Step 1. We make a ring. At this stage, you must decide on the diameter of your future wreath. The most popular sizes: 15 cm for decorations and decor, 20 cm for table compositions, 25-30 cm for wall and door wreaths. According to the selected dimensions, form a ring from one long branch and fix it with wire using pliers.

Step 2 Prepare the rest of the branches by cutting them to the same length and removing any too thick petioles. Then, using wire, one by one, attach them at the base to the ring every 5-7 cm, until the circle closes.

Step 3 Clockwise, with one movement of the hand, collect all the branches sticking out to the sides into a ring. If you are making a small wreath, then it is enough to grab them with wire in one place (the final result is in the photo), but if the wreath is large, then additionally wrap it with wire in a spiral, adhering to a wide step with the same angle of inclination.

This is how birch wreaths are made. Having a sufficient number of branches in stock, in just a few minutes you can wind wreaths of different sizes for the house and the street. Children, by the way, also do an excellent job with this task, the wire can be changed to twine.

Well, for inspiration, we offer a small selection of photos.
