How to bleach tulle at home - effective ways for different materials

Ultraviolet, street dust, exhaust fumes, tobacco smoke and other pollutants gradually give the snow-white tulle a gray or yellow tint. At the same time, regular washing does not solve, but only exacerbates the problem. Of course, such a fabric seems untidy and does not decorate the home interior. Let's find out how to bleach tulle at home quickly so that it shines clean.

Zelenka

A solution of brilliant green will help to rid the tulle of yellowness. Application steps:

  1. Pour warm water (250 ml) into a glass and add 10-15 drops. Mix.
  2. Put the container on the table for a few minutes. Look closely to see if a precipitate has formed. When it appears, strain the liquid.
  3. Pour the brilliant green solution into a basin with warm water (volume - 8-10 liters). Lower a clean curtain into it for 3-4 minutes. During this time, the tulle needs to be turned over several times.
  4. Pull the fabric out of the water, wring it out a little and hang it on a rope to dry. Rinse and wash it is not necessary.

Note: Regardless of the bleaching method, the curtain must be pre-washed by hand or in a machine in a suitable mode.

Blue

When figuring out how to bleach a grayed tulle at home, you can resort to the help of household blue, which consists of pigment and starch. It can be used for both hand and machine wash.

Handwash:

  1. Dissolve 0.5 small spoons of blue powder in 7-10 liters of warm water.
  2. Dip the tulle into the liquid for a few minutes.
  3. Rinse the curtain thoroughly with clean water.
  4. Slightly wring out the fabric and hang to dry.

Machine wash:

  1. Load the tulle into the drum.
  2. Pour (pour) the usual washing powder (gel).
  3. Add 1 teaspoon of blueberry to the conditioner compartment.
  4. Start the appropriate double rinse cycle.

Tip: When using blue and green paint, it is very important to carefully dissolve the dyes in water, otherwise stains will appear on the fabric.

It is difficult to choose the best way to bleach tulle at home, but soaking the fabric in a solution with salt gives a guaranteed result and does not harm delicate products.

Algorithm:

  1. Dissolve washing powder (50 g) for white clothes and table salt (6 tablespoons) in 8-10 liters of hot water. Stir.
  2. After the water has cooled down a bit, put tulle in it. Leave for 4-12 hours.
  3. Drain the water and wash the fabric with the powder in the machine or by hand. Rinse well.

If the tulle is not heavily soiled, salt can be used for rinsing: dissolve the substance in warm water (5 tablespoons per 5 liters) and lower the clean curtain for 15 minutes. The same method is suitable for the prevention of tissue darkening. Salt can be replaced with soda. It is necessary to take it in a smaller amount - 1 tablespoon per 5 liters of water.

Hydrogen peroxide and ammonia

With the problem of how to quickly whiten cotton tulle at home, hydrogen peroxide and ammonia will help. This method is not suitable for synthetic fabrics.

  1. In 5 liters of hot water (60 °) add ammonia (1 large spoon) and 3% hydrogen peroxide solution (2 large spoons) and mix.
  2. Dip the tulle into the solution for 15-20 minutes.
  3. Put on gloves, rinse the fabric, take it out, wring it out a little and hang it to dry.

Laundry soap

There are three ways to freshen up tulle with laundry soap. The first two are suitable for delicate fabrics, the third for cotton.

The first option is soaking:

  1. Grind soap on a grater. You should get a glass of shavings.
  2. Boil 3-4 liters of water. Pour soap into it. Stir until dissolved.
  3. Combine hot water with cold water to make a warm liquid with a total volume of 7-8 liters.
  4. Soak tulle in soapy water for 5-12 hours.
  5. Wash the fabric by hand and rinse.

The second option is to add potassium permanganate:

  1. Grate 100 g of soap. Dissolve in 1 liter of hot water.
  2. Stir a pinch of potassium permanganate in 200 ml of warm water. Make sure all crystals have dissolved.
  3. Pour everything into a basin with warm water (5-6 l). Mix. You should get a pale pink liquid with foam.
  4. Leave the tulle in the solution for 30 minutes.
  5. Wash by hand or machine, rinse thoroughly.

The third option is digestion:

  1. Boil 7-8 liters of water in a saucepan, add a glass of grated laundry soap to it, stir.
  2. Lower the tulle and simmer for 1 hour, stirring occasionally with a wooden stick.
  3. Pull out the curtain and place in cold water. Rinse.

Starch

Potato starch not only gives the tulle whiteness, but also helps to form beautiful folds. In addition, it forms a thin film on the fibers that repels dirt.

Action plan:

  1. Combine a glass of starch with the same amount of warm water. Mix so that there are no lumps. Filter if necessary.
  2. Pour the solution into a basin with warm water (5-6 l).
  3. Dip the curtain into the liquid for 5-6 hours.
  4. Pull out the tulle, wring out lightly (do not wrinkle) and hang to dry.

old tulle

When solving the problem of how to bleach an old tulle that has become very yellow or gray, it is worth using several methods in stages. If the curtain is made of cotton fibers, it is recommended to proceed as follows:

  • boil in soapy water;
  • soak briefly in water with the addition of hydrogen peroxide and ammonia;
  • soak for several hours in a saline solution;
  • rinse with starch.

Synthetic tulle cannot be processed in this way. Whitening steps:

  • soak in laundry soap and wash;
  • soak in a solution of salt and powder;
  • process with greenery;

There are commercial whitening products. But it is worth remembering that they are very aggressive and, with frequent use, destroy the fibers. In addition, chlorine-based preparations give the fabric a yellow tint.

Whitening in the machine

If it is not possible to bleach the curtains with your hands, you should use a washing machine. To refresh the fabric, you can use:

  • oxygen bleaches for tulle – Bingo tulle, Dr. Beckmann, Pilotex tulle, Frau Schmidt;
  • 1 sachet of baking powder mixed with 1 tablespoon of baking soda (salt).
  1. Shake out the dust from the cloth. Fold it up and load it into the drum. Make sure there are no colored items in it.
  2. Pour the powder and baking powder and salt (soda) into the same compartment.
  3. Set the "Delicate" or "Manual" wash mode. Temperature - 30 °, the number of revolutions - a maximum of 400, rinsing - double.

Tulle is a thin transparent fabric, for the manufacture of which natural or synthetic fibers can be used. The composition of the material must be taken into account when bleaching.

  1. Organza. This rigid transparent material is made from silk, viscose and polyester by a special twisting of the threads. Hot water and aggressive agents are contraindicated for him. You can refresh organza tulle with salt, brilliant green, blue.
  2. Kapron. This fabric is made from polyester. It cannot be boiled, the maximum temperature is 30 °. If the question arose of how to whiten nylon tulle at home, saline or soda solutions, blue, potassium permanganate, brilliant green, laundry soap, starch are suitable.

  5. Cotton. Curtains made of cotton fibers are the least whimsical to care for. They can be treated with peroxide and ammonia, as well as starch solution.

In order for the whitening process of tulle to lead to a brilliant result, you should adhere to the following rules:

  1. Shake out the dust from the curtains before cleaning.
  2. Gently fold the fabric several times so that it fits in the washing machine drum or in the basin. If you crumple the tulle, then there will be creases.
  3. If the curtain is very dirty, soak it in powdered water overnight.
  4. Carry out laundry. When using the machine, select the delicate mode with a minimum number of revolutions or no spin at all. If the product is small, it is better to place it in a bag or pillowcase. "Naughty" fabrics should be washed by hand without intense friction.
  5. The optimum water temperature for washing and bleaching is 30-35 ° (except for certain methods). If the tulle is immersed in a hotter liquid, the yellowness and dirt can set in.
  6. After bleaching, rinse the tulle in water with the addition of vinegar (1 large spoon per 1 liter). This will give the material a shine.
  7. Do not twist curtains. Just hang them so that the water is glassy, ​​and then place them on the eaves when wet. They will align under the influence of gravity.
  8. If there is a need for ironing, set the most gentle mode on the iron.

Snow-white tulle is the best window frame. You can return the fabric cleanliness with the help of starch, blue, brilliant green, hydrogen peroxide, ammonia, laundry soap and other means.
