How to clean a frying pan from soot: effective ways to remove dirt at home

This is, of course, the most ancient way to clean dishes from stubborn dirt. But if earlier mechanical processing meant only the removal of carbon deposits with the help of sand, today there are two more modern and effective options:

In both cases, you need to clean the pan not in the kitchen, but at least on the balcony, after protecting the exposed surfaces, or in the garage.

Heat treatment

Another option for those who do not want to use chemistry to eliminate soot. And here two ways of processing dishes are also available at once.

The first - open fire. It is known that with prolonged exposure to fire, even a thick soot gradually shrinks, which leads to the gradual evaporation of fat and the disappearance of the remaining particles of dirt. You can heat the outside of the pan with a conventional gas burner or blowtorch. You need to burn the outer sides of the dishes until they begin to smoke - as a rule, this takes about 15 minutes. To facilitate the task, you can use a special metal stand. Upon completion of the firing, the pan must be removed from the heat and allowed to cool slightly - after such a procedure, the soot will move away from the surface and can be easily removed with a brush. Keep in mind that when using this method at home, an unpleasant smell and even a fumes cannot be avoided, so be sure to open all windows and organize a good draft.

Advice. Open flame treatment is highly discouraged for aluminum and cast iron pans - they can quickly and seriously deform.

Second - sand sauna. This method is less extreme, so it is suitable for any pans. Everything is simple here: first, pour sand into the dishes, put it on low heat for 3 hours, and then, when the pan cools down, tap it on a solid object - the soot will quickly crumble.

Chemical cleaning methods

The most common option is to remove soot using various kinds of chemicals. We immediately distinguish here two ways to clean pans: through the use of special chemistry and through the preparation of home-made solutions from chemical and natural ingredients.

If you don't want to bother with solutions, use commercially available hydrochloric acid cleaners:

  • treat the dishes with the purchased product and leave it for 1-2 hours;
  • Use a brush to remove dirt from the outer surfaces.

The procedure can be repeated several times if the soot is very thick. Be sure to wear rubber gloves when cleaning.

A safer, but no less effective option is a solution based on soda, citric acid, laundry soap and silicate glue:

  • rub soap;
  • prepare a metal bucket with water, add 500 g of soda to it, 1 tbsp. l. acids, a tube of silicate glue and grated soap;
  • put the bucket on the fire and place the frying pan there;
  • over low heat, heat the contents to a boil;
  • leave the solution with the pan to boil for 15-20 minutes, then turn off the stove and let the dishes rest in the cooling water for another 1.5-2 hours.
  • remove the pan from the solution and remove the softened carbon deposits with a brush.

Now in your arsenal there are several mechanical, thermal and chemical ways to remove carbon deposits from the outside of the pan at home. Use them and do not forget: high-quality and timely cleaning is the key not only to the beauty of the dishes, but also to the benefits of the food cooked in it.
