Master class on how to sew a potholder mitten for the kitchen

A pot holder is an essential item in the kitchen. For sewing potholders, not only various materials, techniques are used (such as chenille, patchwork ...), but also various shapes in the form of a circle, square, oval and even mittens.

The mitt mitt is very convenient in the kitchen - it reliably protects our pens from hot objects. Sewing it is not difficult even for a beginner.

You will need:

  • base fabric;
  • lining fabric;
  • batting or synthetic winterizer;
  • oblique inlay for processing the edge;
  • sewing machine;
  • ordinary sewing accessories - threads, needles, scissors, chalk, pins.
  • Do-it-yourself mitten, master class

    Let's draw a sketch-pattern for a pattern of a mitten. This is very easy to do by placing your palm on a sheet of paper and drawing an outline around the palm, in the form of a mitten. Or use this pattern, where the cell is 4 cm:

    According to the pattern, we will cut out the details for sewing the mittens, when cutting the details, you can use one pattern, but do not forget to turn it over to cut the details of the inside and back of the mitten, if the fabric has a pattern.

    We should get 6 parts for one mitten: 2 parts from the main fabric, 2 from the lining and 2 parts from batting.

    Then fold separately three layers of each fabric, the base face up, the lining face down, sew every three layers around the perimeter with a zigzag seam. You will get two parts of the mitten of three layers each.

    Now you need to quilt each part arbitrarily or outlining the lines in a certain order:

    Then we process the bottom of the tack.

    Then we sew two quilted parts of the tacks of the mittens with one line. And the final stage is to process the open edges with an inlay and make a loop for which you can hang the tack in the kitchen.

    Here are such cute do-it-yourself mittens-mittens turned out:

    I wish you success!
