Description of the model and its purpose

This watch model is available in 2 colors:

  • Silicone strap in black and red colors + black case;
  • Brown-black leather strap + silver case.

Smart watch Huawei Watch Magic

The age contingent using smart watches is adults.

Purpose: use in everyday life or for sports. The black case is suitable for sports people, more respectable and business people, it is better to take the leather option.

There are slight differences in price: the leather version will be a little more expensive, due to its chemical ability.

Model with leather strap.

The straps detach quickly and are easy to adjust. In the leather version, one side is leather, the other is silicone. Watch case materials - carbon fiber: stainless steel, plastic, 316L.

Note. 316L is a steel that has components: molybdenum, chromium and nickel. Due to this, it has increased corrosion-resistant properties.

Smart watch glass has the following structure: the upper cathode layer, then the organic layer with LEDs, followed by a matrix of thin-film transistors that control the diodes; further - the anode layer, and the fixing element of the glass structure is the substrate on which it is placed. It, most often, is silicone or metal.

Huawei Watch Magic on the wrist

The watch is waterproof: 5 kg per square centimeter. In this case, it is possible to dive to a depth of 40 meters. This smart purpose model can be actively used in water sports or water related hobby. Thanks to this feature, the watch can not be removed from the wrist while taking procedures related to liquids.

With the help of TruSeen 3.0 technology, the pulse is measured in real time - 1 s; there is an infrared detection mode at night, which is carried out thanks to TruSleep 2.0. Other functions, such as swimming, are also subject to monitoring.

Housing model Huawei Watch GT

Note. In the case of a rapid heart rate, the watch gives advice on some exercises to normalize the rhythm of the heartbeat. Also, having tracked the owner’s sleep, if necessary, the gadget will give practical instructions on this topic.

The smartwatch runs on Kirin OS, a Linux-based operating system introduced by Huawei that could be a worthy replacement for Android in the future.

Note: "Linux" is a system that allows you to choose the software that is installed inside it.

Where could I buy?

You can buy smart watches only in the Chinese market - order through the Aliexpress online store. They will enter the international market in January 2019.

Huawei Watch MagicThe average price of the gadget ranges from $130 to $145.

Buying from this accessory is a risky thing, but those who follow fashion trends and the release of new versions of gadgets make deals without hesitation. Now for the purchase of watches, this store gives a guarantee, which is probably why many seek to take possession of a smart thing as early as possible.

Conclusion

Since the model has recently appeared on sale, and on a single resource, there are no reviews, as such, about the gadget. A full review of the gadget can be viewed at the beginning of next year, after the sale of smart watches in the country. However, it is worth assuring that all indicators, except, perhaps, single ones, will remain the same as currently described.

Packaging for Huawei Watch GT

To the question: how much do watches cost, the answer was given above. Those who know how to wait can save on purchases for a simple reason: the popularity of models entails an increase in demand and the cost of goods, however, over time, prices become lower and more affordable for every buyer.

First of all, it is worth noting that the models are relatively inexpensive in price. The most budget watches are those with a rubber strap.

The functions of the new models are in many ways similar to the release of previous watches. The main obstacle is the cost, since they practically do not differ in appearance, and in terms of characteristics there are minor differences. When deciding which watch to choose, GT or Magic, it is worth considering that:

  • The most suitable for an active lifestyle - a reliable version of the "GT" models due to its autonomy.
  • For the everyday option, it makes no sense to overpay money and buy the best "Magic".

Honor Magic 2 is one of the few smartphones that brings us back to tactile interaction with the device. Here, the 6.4-inch Amoled display received minimal bezels not only on the sides, but on top and bottom. This was achieved due to the slider - two front cameras are located in the edge, which "leave" it when you need to take a selfie.

As for the cameras, there are six of them: three in front; three are behind. Moreover, on the front panel, in fact, there is only one full-fledged camera; additional two - depth sensors with resolutions of 2 megapixels. But there is no such trick at the back - there are full-fledged cameras: a regular one with a wide-angle object, and a monochrome sensor for obtaining more detailed information about the scene light.

The phone received the latest Huawei proprietary processor - HiSilicon Kirin 980, made using 7nm technology, which was previously used in the Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro. Together with 6 GB of RAM and a 128 GB disk, it works quickly and "pulls" games.

Features Honor Magic 2

  • Case: aluminum frame, glass back, 206 gr.
  • Screen: 6.4 inches, AMOLED matrix, 19.5: 9, Full HD +.
  • Rear cameras: main - 16 MP, f / 1.8, 27 mm lens; additional - with a wide-angle lens with a lens of 17 mm, 16 MP, f / 2.2; monochrome sensor - 24 MP, f / 1.8, focal length 27 mm.
  • Front cameras: 16 MP, f/2, focal length 27 mm. Additional cameras - depth sensors with resolutions of 2 megapixels and f/2.4 aperture.
  • SoC: HiSilicon Kirin 980 (2xCoretx-A76 2.6GHz + 2xCortex-A76 1.92GHz + 4xCortex-A55 1.8GHz) + Mali-G76 MP10 graphics.
  • Memory: 6 GB RAM + 128 GB disk; there is a modification with 8 GB of RAM and a disk of 128/256 GB.
  • OS: Android 9 Pie + Magic UI 2.0.0 shell.
  • Battery: 3500mAh, Huawei SuperCharge with 40W adapter.
  • Communication and connectivity: Dual-SIM, LTE Cat.21 with a data rate of 1.4 Gbps, USB Type-C, Wi-Fi 2.4 and 5 GHz, GPS, Bluetooth 5.0, NFC.
  • Miscellaneous: under-display fingerprint scanner, one multimedia speaker at the bottom.
  • Package contents: USB cable - USB Type-C, 40 W charger, USB Type-C adapter - 3.5 mm jack, hard case.

A big minus is the lack of a 3.5 mm headphone jack. Unfortunately, these are current trends - manufacturers are gradually getting rid of the bulky connector, so you will have to listen to music in your favorite headphones using a USB Type-C - 3.5 mm jack adapter.

Display

The Honor Magic 2 slider is equipped with a 6.4-inch Amoled display that covers almost the entire front panel and occupies 84.8% of the area. Its resolution is Full HD+, aspect ratio is 19.5:9, pixel density is 403 ppi.

In terms of brightness and contrast, nothing new - the screen is standard. Since it's Amoled, the black dots don't glow here, giving the highest contrast. The maximum white brightness at 100% backlight is 433 cd/m2. This is not the highest result, and there is no increase in this value when you turn on the automatic brightness mode, as in many smartphones. However, this may be for the best, since Amoled matrices are prone to burnout at high brightness. For example, the same iPhone X screens that have been in store windows for a year or two burn out and produce afterimages that are clearly visible against a white background.

The minimum brightness is 2 cd/m2, which is very good. This will allow you to comfortably read the text in complete darkness. The display also covers the sRGB color space with high fidelity. According to the GSMArena website, the minimum deviation is DeltaE=1.6, which is a very high result. But the maximum color accuracy is achieved by manually setting the color temperature in the screen menu. If you use standard modes, then "Normal / Default" is the most accurate, I recommend using it.

Battery and autonomy

The phone has a built-in battery with a capacity of 3500 mAh. The closest competitors with the same processor Huawei Mate 20 and 20 Pro are better in this regard, as they are equipped with 4000 and 4200 mAh batteries, respectively. However, this is a slider, and most of the internal space has gone under the slide mechanism and the capacity of 3500 mAh is very solid.

According to GSMArena, the total operating time of the smartphone, taking into account standby mode, is 89 hours. That is, with moderate use, the battery will last more than 3 days. In many ways, this result is achieved due to the non-gluttonous processor and screen.

Accurate autonomy data:

  • 3G communication: 24:18 hours
  • Surfing the Internet: 13:45
  • Video playback: 15:53h

Speaking of autonomy and battery, it is important to note Huawei's patented SuperCharge fast charging technology - another plus in favor of the Magic 2. It is also available in the Huawei Mate 20 Pro, but not in the regular Mate 20, so the Magic 2 is better in this regard. The kit comes with a 40W charger, with which the phone is charged from zero to 100% in just 62 minutes; and in half an hour he gets 70% of the charge from scratch. This is a good result, but Oppo is still ahead of the curve with its Find X and RX17 Pro.

Software part

Honor Magic runs on the Android 9 Pie software platform and the Magic UI 2.0 shell. Basically, this is the good old EMUI from Huawei, but with an updated bootloader interface. You won't find anything new here that wasn't in the original EMUI, so Huawei users will adjust quickly.

There are many options available in the settings to customize the theme, screen, smart rotation, smartphone activation. Naturally, gesture control is supported, but if you wish, you can leave the navigation buttons at the bottom. The top curtain is brushed off as standard - there is also a manual brightness control, notifications, functions for activating or deactivating Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. In the security settings, you can register your face to unlock your smartphone using face unlock technology. However, to unlock the device with your face, you need to push the cameras every time, otherwise the phone simply won’t see you, so face recognition is clearly superfluous here. The smartphone is convenient and easy to unlock using the fingerprint scanner located under the display. It works quickly and accurately, but in OnePlus 6T, for example, the scanner is even faster.

Performance

Honor Magic 2 received a “native” Kirin 980 processor, the latest SoC from HiSilicon, made according to the 7nm process technology, which made it possible to mark more semiconductors. So far, this is the only 7nm processor for Android.

Inside it - 8 cores, divided into 3 clusters:

  • 2xCortex-A76 2.6GHz
  • 2xCortex-A76 1.92GHz
  • 4xCortex-A55 1.8GHz

The Mali-G76 MP10 coprocessor is responsible for graphics processing. There is also 6 or 8 GB of RAM, but the amount of "RAM" does not affect the performance of the processor, so the performance test results below are quite accurate for all Honor Magic 2 phones.

As you can see, the new Kirin 980 has no equal in the multi-core test.

The Samsung Exynos 9810 chip wins here thanks to its powerful Mongoose cores, which so far have no analogues in the world. However, the improved Kirin confidently bypasses the nearest competitor in the face of the Snapdragon 845.

When it comes to graphics testing, we don't see anything new here. HiSilicon still uses weak graphics chips, so the Kirin 980 is average for a top class phone.

The performance graphics of the Adreno 630 in the Snapdragon 845 is much better than the Mali-G76 MP10 in the Kirin 980, and even the cheap semi-flagship Xiaomi Pocophone F1 bypasses the expensive Honor Magic 2 by a margin. However, Huawei phones have never been gaming, and if you plan to play often in "heavy" toys, it is better to consider options on the Snapdragon.

cameras

Magic 2 received six cameras - three on each side, although the front is actually one camera, the other two are depth sensors. They do not affect the quality of the image and are only needed to defocus the background. But phones have long been able to blur the background without additional cameras, and even more so the Magic 2 with such a powerful processor can do it. That is, in Honor Magic 2, in fact, there is only one camera in front, additional depth sensors were pushed in only for marketing purposes, which made it possible to advertise the smartphone as a device with 6 cameras.

Behind - full-fledged sensors:

  • The main module with a resolution of 16 megapixels and a lens with an aperture of f / 1.8, a focal length of 27 mm.
  • Secondary camera with wide-angle object (17 mm) aperture f/2.2.
  • 24 MP monochrome sensor with f/1.8 aperture.

The camera application has remained traditional - all the same modes, including a photo on a wide-angle camera, portrait, as well as "Pro", where you can set the shutter speed, white balance, ISO.

Sample photos on Honor Magic 2

Contrary to expectations, the photo quality in daylight on the main camera is not impressive. Detail is clearly lame, not what you'd expect from a 16MP sensor; the dynamic range is below average, the colors are pleasant, but sometimes oversaturated.

Pay attention to the facade of the building in the third frame - it has a pink tint, although it should be white. There are problems with color reproduction. As for the AI mode, it does not greatly improve the situation, and sometimes spoils it.

Examples of photos fromAI:

Pay attention to the second frame - pink shades remain.

Examples of photos on a wide-angle lens:

Photo on a monochrome sensor:

The main benefit you get when shooting with a 24MP monochrome camera (no Bayer filter) is the highest level of detail. Pay attention to the decorative grilles (the first photo is in full resolution) - all the holes on it can be counted. You will not get close to the level of detail when shooting with a color camera.

Shooting Quality Comparison

In order to understand how well or poorly the new Honor Magic 2 photographs, I will give a small comparison using the GSMArena resource tool. Below are crops of photos taken on Magic 2 and Huawei Mate 20 under the same lighting conditions.

Please note: Magic 2 added green colors that shouldn't be there. Very bad.

weak light

Obviously, the Mate 20 has better detail - small details are displayed, while they are absent in the photo on the Magic 2.

In terms of video, the Magic 2 records decent 4K, but only at 30 FPS; processing codec - h.264 or h.265. In Full HD resolution, recording at 60 FPS is possible, but this will not surprise anyone. Shooting quality is good, but the detail in 4K recording is not at the highest level.

Example entry in 4K:

Conclusion

There are already phones on the market that have implemented mechanical tricks for extending the front cameras: vivo NEX S (only one camera extends), Oppo Find X, Lenovo Z5 Pro, Xiaomi Mi Mix 3. Oppo Find X and Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 are obvious competitors of Honor Magic 2. They received TOP hardware, Amoled displays. Plus, Oppo Find X, for example, features very fast charging, which is its main advantage. Mi Mix 3 received a telephoto camera on the back (instead of a wide-angle and monochrome camera), as well as wireless charging in the box.

Slider Oppo Find X

Lenovo Z5 Pro is a slider based on Snapdragon 710 processor and Amoled display, and most importantly, it is 2 times cheaper.

If we consider competitors without a slide, then it is appropriate to mention the new OnePlus 6T, Xiaomi Mi8, Samsung S9 + and of course Huawei P20 Pro, perhaps Huawei Mate 20.

The cheapest one is Xiaomi Mi 8, it has SD 845, cool GPS module and good camera, but it lacks prestige. For about the same money or less, you can get a OnePlus 6T with a cool camera, an in-screen fingerprint scanner and the latest Gorilla Glass 6.

The Honor Magic 2 is a good phone without the cool "chips" that would make it the only one in its segment. Yes, it has a good 7nm processor, an Amoled screen, and it is made in the form of a slider. The design and a cool monochrome camera can also be added to the merits, but only her. The main module is frankly weak, and as for the Kirin 980 processor, with the release of the new flagship Snapdragon 855 chip, it will hopelessly lag behind. This has already happened with Kirin 970 and Snapdragon 845.

Positioning

It would not be superfluous to recall that Huawei considers Honor to be a separate company, and it is such. In fact, both companies use the developments of the same R&D, but create different devices. Therefore, if Huawei's flagship for 2018-2019 is the Mate 20 Pro, then in Honor it was the Magic 2. We can safely assume that this device is somewhat simpler than the flagship from Huawei, since the positioning of the Honor brand itself is different, it is more available devices. But all the signs of a flagship are here, the company tried to realize the maximum possible for reasonable money.

In Russia, Magic 2 is officially unavailable, and Honor has no plans to bring it to the market, the reason is that the company is moving gradually. The same Mate line from Huawei in Russia became officially available for the first time only in 2018, until that moment the strength of the brand did not allow mass sales of such devices. But the perception has changed, and so the Mate went on sale. With the Magic, something similar could happen next year, so it makes sense to take a look at what the current model has to offer. It is possible to buy this device in China, but it doesn’t make much sense, since there is no localization, there are many Chinese services in the software, and you won’t be able to get special pleasure from the model. On the other hand, this is something unusual, something that not everyone has. There is always an audience for such products, these are those who want something exclusive, not the same as everyone else.

Design, dimensions, controls

One of the problems of our time for smartphones has become the growth of the diagonal of screens, as well as the need to place the front camera and various sensors. And if the sensors can be packed under the display glass, then it is impossible to hide the camera there without losing a piece of the image. The concept of many Chinese companies and the answer to this challenge is the creation of a slider design. The screen is made movable vertically, shift the halves, and a cutout appears, which houses the front camera. Since the slider is active, it is possible to avoid wasting energy when scanning the world around waiting for the user's face, as is done in the iPhone. Alternatively, some Chinese companies have made a pop-up camera module, but from a mechanical point of view, this is not a very optimal design. The slider is more reliable, easier to implement, but the obvious disadvantage is that the case cannot be made as thin as in a conventional monoblock, you may have to partially sacrifice battery capacity.

In the closed state, it is impossible to determine that you have a slider in front of you, nothing in the device gives out such a design.

Xiaomi has a model similar in design - Mi MIX 3, it also uses a slider.

Externally, the Magic 2 resembles the P20 Pro: iridescent body, the same camera layout on the rear panel. There are no complaints about how the device is assembled. It seems to me that in recent years the build quality has grown among all manufacturers, we have stopped thinking about it at all, since the level is approximately the same everywhere, and this is a qualitatively good level.

Compared to Huawei Mate 20 Pro

Compared to Samsung Galaxy Note 9

There are several color options, check out the colors below.

For those who, like me, are annoyed by the notch in the screen, Magic 2 will be a salvation. The screen occupies almost the entire front surface, no cutouts, as there is a slider design. The sides are minimal, and they are quite comfortable, including to work with the device with one hand.

Face unlocking differs in different versions of this model, for example, in the basic one it is recognition by image, in the older one (the one with 8 GB of RAM) it is an analogue of Apple's technology, a 30,000-point face map is built. I did not manage to try the second option, since there are no such devices anywhere. Therefore, it is difficult to talk about recognition, this is exactly what we see in devices from Huawei / Honor today, a fast and reliable way to unlock, I really like it. To activate face unlock, just move the slider to open the cameras, and it's very convenient, you quickly get used to this feature.

The fingerprint sensor is built into the screen, just like in the Mate 20 Pro. In the cold, it does not always work correctly, the vessels on the hand narrow, the capillary pattern changes, and the recognition accuracy is not as high as that of individual sensors on the body. On the other hand, in all other conditions it is convenient and works well.

At the bottom there is a USB Type C connector, right there is a speaker output, as well as a microphone. The second microphone is on the top end, the noise reduction system works well.

At the top there is an IrDA window, it serves to control household appliances. For many, this will be a welcome addition to the capabilities of the device, which has disappeared from Samsung flagships, and has never been present in Apple smartphones.

The paired volume rocker is located on the right side, along with the on/off button. Do not look for a fingerprint sensor on the case, it is built into the screen.

On the left side there is a slot for two nanoSIM cards, there is a sealing rubber (the device is protected according to the IP68 standard).

There are no complaints about the build quality, and also about ergonomics. The device is rather big, but quite convenient to use.

Display

The screen specifications are as follows: 6.39 inches, 1080x2340 pixels, 403 ppi, AMOLED, 19.5:9, automatic brightness control, Corning Gorilla Glass 3, DCI-P3 (100% coverage).

Auto-brightness, as usual for Huawei, is very aggressive, the screen is dark in most situations. But gradually the situation is getting better, if you constantly adjust this parameter, it took me two weeks. Unlike Mate, there is no RGB sensor, so there is no natural color adjustment on the screen, everything is somewhat simpler.

Separately, you can adjust the color mode and temperature, but in manual mode. There are quite enough settings so that you get the color that is closer to you.

There is also an eye protection mode, when the display takes on warm shades. It is poorly applicable in everyday life, and the horror story about harmful radiation should, apparently, convince us that the manufacturer has solved this issue. I have a conviction that it is not worth frightening users, especially with “harmful radiation”.

In the sun, the screen remains readable, but in camera mode, you see that the brightness in the sun is often not enough, the picture is no longer so lively, this is not what you get in the final result.

Unfortunately, the AlwaysOn Display mode is very simple, you only see the time, event icons for standard applications. You cannot set the mode, change the shape and appearance of the clock.

Battery

Built-in Li-Ion 3400 mAh battery, let me remind you that in Mate 20 Pro it is 4200 mAh. But the speed of the processor is limited here, there is no way to overclock it (there is no such setting in the menu), this, coupled with a lower screen resolution, gives a comparable operating time - a day with a heavy load (5.5 hours of screen operation, brightness 50-55%) or two days at 4 screen hours. Full battery charging time is a little less than an hour, there is built-in wireless charging. I liked the device in terms of operating time, this is its strong point. There is an aggressive hacking of background processes, but the more you use your smartphone, the faster it normalizes and does not turn off the necessary applications.

Memory, chipset, performance

The basic version of the device has 6 GB of RAM, 128 GB of internal memory, which is enough for most buyers. The HiSilicon Kirin 980 chipset is a top-end solution that is the first in the world to offer an octa-core processor with two Cortex A76 cores running at up to 2.6 GHz, two cores up to 1.92 GHz, and four Cortex A55 cores running at up to 1.8 GHz . A good chipset, high performance, there will be no flaws as such, the performance will be more than enough for several years. If you look at performance in real life, then the interface “flies”, there are no lags or other problems. The fastest device.

Communication options

Let's start with the main one, the device has NFC support, works like Google Pay, but does not read / write to the Troika card (this is important for many, as the comments show). Dual-band Wi-Fi is no problem, everything works like clockwork. Bluetooth 5.0 version, supported for both LDAC and aptX HD audio, music sounds good in wireless headphones.

For LTE, the maximum set of frequencies, their aggregation and maximum speeds are supported.

USB Type C connector (3.1), supported by OTG, but here I ran into certain problems. My USB Type C flash drives were not read by the device, it offered to charge them, but rejected any other type of connection. It was not possible to overcome this problem, although in all other devices these flash drives are read with a bang.

The built-in IR transmitter allows you to control household appliances.

cameras

The front camera consists of three modules, but this is more of a marketing than a necessity, it shoots no better than in the Mate 20 Pro, comparable image quality.

But the pictures in comparison with the Mate 20 Pro, let me remind you that the optical zoom in Magic 2 is only x2, the optics themselves are also different, it is simpler.

I don’t know how you evaluate the photos, but, in my opinion, this camera was deliberately made simpler, as a result, it is noticeably inferior to the Mate 20 Pro, but it also feels worse than that of the P20 Pro. Moreover, in less than a week I was able to drive the camera in different modes, literally in each it is inferior to models from Huawei. This is logical, since Honor as a brand is positioned under Huawei, and in this capacity it makes no sense to make the device more powerful and cheaper. You get exactly what you pay for.

In isolation from the Huawei / Honor line, I can say that the camera is above average, sometimes the pictures come out just feast for the eyes, but sometimes the camera misses and it turns out to be a marriage. The main complaint about the camera is exactly the same as for the big brothers, it is not always predictable. Sometimes they are very, very good shots, sometimes they are not. It is extremely difficult to guess when and how it will turn out. On the same Samsung, predictability is an order of magnitude higher, you know exactly when you can get a decent shot, and when the camera fails and you will need to switch to manual mode.

And this is what the camera interface looks like.

Multimedia features

The stereo speakers are quite vociferous, watching videos on the device is a pleasure, there are no particular complaints. Support for aptX, aptX HD, LDAC, HWA (Hi-res wireless audio) and Dolby Atmos will be a pleasure for anyone who listens to music on wireless and wired headphones. The multimedia component seemed ordinary to me, without any failures and achievements.

It is difficult for me to evaluate the YoYo voice assistant due to the fact that I do not know Chinese. And therefore, I will only note that it is important to have such an assistant, but how good he is, how applicable, I cannot tell you. Alas. At the presentation, they talked a lot about how Yoyo wins in terms of recognition quality and speed from Siri.

At the moment, only ten languages are supported, the main one is Chinese, and there are also French, English, German, Spanish and some others. There is no Russian, and it will appear at best in a year if Honor agrees with Yandex that Alice will turn into YoYo. Such conversations are going on, and there are chances that this will happen.

From what I liked and what I have not seen yet, I will note the translation in real time during the conversation. That is, you call someone who does not speak your language, and you immediately have a transcript and translation. A subscript appears on the screen. As for me, this is just a chic thing, and if at least it works, it will become an indispensable assistant on trips. Until recently, the same translator from Google made life very easy, but what can I say, in a tea house in Beijing I communicated exclusively with its help, as well as successfully bargained, giving arguments, and not just showing numbers on a calculator. The fact that now this is also becoming available for phone calls is very cool. This is something that will be implemented by almost all companies in the future, there is no doubt about it.

Yoyo also has an app to estimate the age of your skin and various blemishes. This application has received some approvals from relevant organizations, which serves as proof that it works. For women who take care of themselves, this feature will be interesting.

Impression

In terms of connection quality, the device turned out to be good, there are no pitfalls here, the network keeps well in different conditions. There are no problems with data transfer, speeds in Moscow networks are high, frequency aggregation is used. The call is loud, the vibrating alert is felt in different conditions.

The prices for this device in China are as follows (multiply by 10 and get the cost in rubles).

Given that the P20 Pro costs 35 thousand rubles in Russia (in MTS with cashback) or 39,990 rubles everywhere in large networks, Magic 2 looks at least at the same level. It wins with the presence of a fingerprint sensor built into the screen, a large display size without a bang, and a slider mechanism. An interesting model, but these devices are quite comparable in terms of what they give the user. And this, of course, is not at all Mate 20 Pro, which looks noticeably more interesting.

In general, I liked the Magic 2, it's a device with a twist, and it looks interesting. There are not so many competitors for him on the market, if you do not take into account mass models. But why not take it? Flagships from Samsung are more expensive, so the difference in price will make the Magic 2 attractive to many (with the same S9+, the difference is at least 15-20 thousand rubles). If we take the line from Apple, then the nearest iPhone Xr simply cannot stand the competition, it is worse in everything, except for the brand, which is still perceived as a fashion brand, but this is already a thing of the past, now it is rather the perception that a person, without thinking, overpaid for the model. A direct competitor is Xiaomi Mi MIX3, but there are a number of parameters worse, for example, a fingerprint sensor on the rear panel.

Huawei Honor Magic was officially announced in December 2016 in China. This smartphone belongs to the premium segment. It has a lot of innovations, and also received a remarkable design and a strong technical base.

Appearance and ergonomics

The case of Huawei Honor Magic is made of glass and metal. Thanks to the curved edges of the rear and front panels, the device looks really impressive. It uses 3D glass which looks amazing. A powerful flash is located on the back side, and there is also a dual camera. The front part is distinguished by the presence of a mechanical button with a built-in fingerprint scanner located under the screen. Curved and graceful corners make the body of the device not only beautiful, but also comfortable.

Inside is a 2900 mAh battery with support for exclusive fast charging. Dimensions Honor Magic: height - 146.1 mm, thickness - 7.8 mm, width - 69.9 mm, weight - 145 g. Color - white and black.

Display

The gadget is equipped with a 5.09-inch display with an advanced AMOLED matrix. Moreover, the resolution of such a screen is 2560 by 1440 pixels, which makes it possible to get real pleasure from a detailed image. The display is very juicy, the black color is close to perfect.

Hardware and performance

Honor Magic got a well-known processor with eight cores called Kirin 950 (maximum frequency 2300 MHz) to fans of this series. This is a very powerful chip that provides excellent performance in literally all applications today. 4 GB of RAM is provided, but another 64 GB is used as storage for files. Android 6.0 is used here.

A clear innovation is the presence of a unique Magic Live shell. It was she who gave users the progressive WiseScreen Sensor Magic function, thanks to which the smartphone recognizes not only hands, but also human eyes. For example, if you take the device in the palm of your hand, the screen will automatically turn on. When the device is placed in a pocket, the display goes out. The shell itself has a beautiful and "light" interface, as well as useful features.

Communication and sound

There are absolutely no communication problems in Huawei Honor Magic. The interlocutor is heard remarkably. The speakers have a crystal-clear sound, but in the headphones, the melodies will sparkle with even greater colors. There is support for LTE, two SIM cards and Bluetooth 4.2.

Camera

Dual 12-megapixel module allows you to take high-quality pictures. The user can create depth of field, change the focus point, and much more. It is worth noting a large selection of settings and functions that give room for experimentation. There is a dual flash, and there is also an 8-megapixel front camera.

conclusions

In China, Huawei Honor Magic can be purchased for 530-550 dollars. The buyer gets a balanced smartphone, and with tangible innovations in the face of incredibly fast charging, Magic Live shell and WiseScreen Sensor Magic. Such a device is suitable for a variety of people who do not mind paying a little more than $ 500 for a new gadget.
