Come up with a sticker design. With self-made stickers, your flight of fancy is not limited by anything. Use whatever drawing medium you want: colored pencils, markers, pastels, wax crayons, whatever. Make sure that the markers, pastels, and other drawing media you use are water-resistant. Draw the sticker design on a separate piece of paper or directly in a notepad. Consider the following ideas as you think through your design.

Draw a self-portrait or portraits of your friends or pets.
Cut out graceful images and phrases from magazines and newspapers.
Print pictures from the Internet or images you have on your computer. For best results, print them on thin printer paper, not photo paper.
Use ready-made sticker templates from the Internet that you can print.
Make pictures with decorative stamps.
Decorate the image with sparkles.

Cut out stickers. Use scissors for this. Make stickers as big or small as you want. For patterned edges on stickers, use shaped scissors to create an interesting cut pattern.
- Try using shaped hole punches to make hearts, stars, and other shapes out of patterned paper.
Prepare the glue. This glue is safe for children, similar to the one used on envelopes. It will provide adhesion of the sticker to most types of surfaces, but it does not contain harmful chemicals. To make the glue, mix the following ingredients in a bowl until a homogeneous mixture is formed:

Apply adhesive to stickers. Lay the stickers back side up on a piece of waxed paper or aluminum foil. Take a paint brush or a baking brush and brush the back of the stickers with glue. When you are done, let the glue dry completely.
- There is no need to completely soak the stickers with glue, just apply it in a thin layer.
- Make sure the stickers are completely dry before using them.
- Store your finished stickers in a plastic bag or plastic box until you are ready to use them.
To apply the sticker, lick it from the back. When you're ready to stick your decal to a surface, simply lick the back of it like you would with stamps, then briefly press the decal onto the desired surface. Homemade glue is strong enough, so be careful when sticking the sticker.

Making stickers with adhesive tape

Cut out images from magazines or print your own sticker designs. For this method, you need images that have been printed on paper using waterproof inks. You can use the glossy pages of magazines or books, or you can experiment with your printer's inks and try printing options from your computer. If you are printing pictures, make a test piece first to pre-wet it to test for durability before you start making the actual stickers. Cut out the images and phrases you like with scissors.
- When selecting images, do not forget about the width of the adhesive tape. Each sticker must fit within the width of one of its strips. This means that the picture should not be wider than the adhesive tape.
- If you want to make a larger sticker, you will need to line up two strips of tape. It may not be so easy. You need to align the tape so that its strips overlap quite a bit, and at the same time the paper does not look through between them. In case of an unsuccessful attempt, your sticker will be damaged. If successful, only the seam at the point of contact of the strips will be visible on the sticker.
Cover the sticker designs with tape. Cut out a piece of clear tape large enough to completely cover the cut out sticker design. Stick it on the front side of your cut or printed design. Press the tape against the paper so that it adheres well to the drawing.
- Be careful when you stick the tape on the image. It is necessary to change its position, and the picture will tear. Also try to make sure that there are no air bubbles or wrinkles when sticking the tape.
- Consider using double sided tape. Double-sided tape is available in various forms: in rolls, sheets, and even as part of special machines for making stickers, for example, the Xyron brand.
- Consider using Japanese paper tape (washi tape). It is similar to tape and is great for making stickers because it sticks when you want it and also peels off easily if you need to. Japanese paper duct tape comes in a variety of colors and patterns. If you want to make stronger stickers, you can use duct tape.
Rub the front of the sticker. Take a coin or use your fingernail to press down on the front of the sticker and rub the surface to get the ink on the paper to bond with the adhesive on the tape. Continue rubbing the sticker for a few minutes to make sure the ink bonds to the adhesive backing of the tape.

Rinse stickers in warm water. Take the stickers one at a time and rinse them under water, put the paper side under the stream until the paper starts to fall off. The ink will not be washed off with water, and the paper will completely dissolve. You can speed up the process by rubbing the paper.
- Make sure you wet the entire surface of the tape at the sticker, not just part of it. If you concentrate your efforts on only one area, then only this area will be visible on the sticker.
- If the paper does not fall off, continue soaking the sticker under warm water.
- Alternatively, soak the stickers in a bowl of warm water. Completely submerge the stickers in water and leave to soak for a few minutes.
Let the stickers dry. After removing the paper, allow the stickers to dry completely so that the adhesive layer of the tape becomes tacky again. Use scissors to trim the excess tape around the decal design, then stick the decal to the surface of your choice.

Making stickers from self-adhesive paper
1. Buy self-adhesive paper. In craft or office supply stores, you can find paper that has an adhesive layer on one side. It is usually protected by a backing which is removed when the paper needs to be adhered.
2. Design your stickers. Draw stickers on your computer, or use markers or pens to draw pictures directly on the adhesive paper. You are only limited by the paper size. You can even make an A4 sticker if you want!
  - Draw stickers on your computer using Adobe Photoshop, Paint, or another graphics program. As stickers, you can simply use photos from your personal album or from the Internet. When you're done, print the images on self-adhesive paper.
  - If you have a printed photo or drawing that you want to make a sticker from, simply scan it or download a digital image source to your computer. Edit this file in Photoshop, Paint, Word, or Adobe Acrobat, then print on self-adhesive paper.
  - Draw pictures directly on self-adhesive paper using pens, pencils or paint. Just don't wet the paper too much, otherwise you could damage its adhesive layer.
3. Cut out stickers. Use scissors to cut out printed sticker designs. You can cut the stickers into simple rectangular shapes, or use special shaped scissors to create interesting patterned edges. Your stickers should be spaced about three millimeters apart on the sheet so that when you cut one sticker, you don't accidentally damage adjacent stickers.
  - When using double-sided adhesive sheets, simply tear off the protective backing, exposing the adhesive layer of the sheet. Attach the stickers with the back side to the adhesive layer. Press them down so they stick well. Then tear off the sticker with the adhesive layer from the second substrate - now your sticker is sticky from the back. Stick it to any surface of your choice. You need to stick the sticker right away, as you have removed the protective backing from it.
  - You can space the stickers on the sheet further apart to allow white borders around the images, or you can cut the stickers without these borders. People who are already experienced in creating stickers sometimes leave no boundaries at all and cut out stickers with a clerical knife.

It will be easier, of course, to just buy a sticker in a store or order it from a printing house according to your own layout. However, it's not that interesting. So, how to make a sticker at home? The next way is how to make a sticker at home. To do this, you need to select a suitable pattern, print it or cut it out, and then glue it to the desired surface (necessarily pre-degreased) using ordinary glue (PVA or silicate - depending on which surface the pattern will be glued to). The method is quite simple, but such stickers are short-lived, because they are not protected from moisture, they can quickly fade in the sun. By the same principle, you can plant drawings not on glue, but this is also a good option, but its disadvantages remain the same.

A sticker can be prepared at home using the usual one. It is interesting that such a pattern will be glued specifically to clothes. To do this, you need to cut out the selected pattern from the bag, attach it to your pants or T-shirt, cover it with parchment paper (you can use baking paper of any color) and iron it well with a hot iron. If the pattern does not stick the first time, the operation should be repeated. It is worth noting that small drawings will stick better, because the iron can easily walk through them at a time.

Method 5

Now I want to talk about how to make a vinyl sticker, but this will require the help of a printing house. First you need to prepare the layout. To do this, the selected drawing must be presented in vector form (this can be done independently using the Corel program). If there are no such skills, the printing house workers will gladly come to the rescue. The image is then transferred to film. This can also be done in a print shop, but you can try to do it yourself. To do this, you need to purchase a special film and apply a pattern on its surface on the reverse side. This will not be too difficult to do, because the indicated material is divided into squares. Now the sticker needs to be attached to the desired surface. This is a rather difficult and time-consuming stage. Also for this you need to stock up on mounting film. The drawing is superimposed on a dry, clean and even surface, glued on top with a mounting film, smoothed with a squeegee. After that, the film is carefully removed. If any part has peeled off, it must be put in place and again stroked well with a squeegee. Everything, the product is ready and already in place!

Double-sided tape is incredibly convenient, practical, and relatively inexpensive. It is used for many types of needlework, including making stickers with your own hands. The reasons why people need to make stickers without double-sided tape are very different. Let's not dwell on them, but go straight to the instructions.

3 ways with regular single sided tape

If you can't use double-sided tape, regular tape will do.

Method one

Take a wide tape and place it on top of the front side of the sticker. Next, cut off the excess with scissors, leaving a little at the edges, copying the outlines of the picture. Due to the protruding adhesive tape, the sticker is attached to the surfaces.

Improved Method

We glue the first blank to another piece of one-sided tape (to the non-sticky side). This will result in a sticker with a fully adhesive back.

Third way

Cut off a rectangular piece from the tape.
We turn it into a tube and straighten it so that there is an adhesive layer on the outside.
We glue the adhesive tape to the sticker with one side, straighten it.
It turned out a homemade double-sided version of adhesive tape.

Glue

On ordinary pva glue, a pencil and other stationery types, you can stick one-sided tape to the picture. Simply cover the entire back of the sticker and place it on the glossy side. It remains to cut the sticker along the contour.

Advice
The glue method works better on masking tape: it also sticks well to different surfaces, but thanks to the paper base, the sticker will stick stronger.

Another method with glue

This time without adhesive tape: just cover the back side of the picture with glue and wait for it to dry. When the time comes to stick the craft, we moisten it a little, and the sticky layer “comes to life”. And even easier immediately after applying the glue to place the picture in the right place.

All of these methods are inexpensive and convenient, but with double-sided adhesive tape, this work will be even more pleasant and faster.

Vinyl stickers are sold in abundance, but most of them are standard, and ordering a small lettering from specialized companies will cost much more than buying the source material and making something like vinyl graffiti yourself. Meanwhile, a sticker is not just a decorative element, it will help hide small chips or scratches on the surface, and it doesn’t matter what it is: a car, a smartphone or a PC. The step-by-step process of creating a vinyl sticker with your own hands is given below.

For work you will need:

sheets of colored vinyl on an adhesive basis;
stationery knife;
paper for the printer and the printer itself;
a laptop;
adhesive tape;
durable cutting surface;
tweezers;
masking tape;
alcohol;
cotton wool.

Step 1. In any of the graphics programs, process the image you like or create it from scratch if you have the appropriate skills. Print the prepared picture or inscription and cut off the excess part of the sheet for convenience in further work.

Step 2. On a work surface that you don't mind ruining, secure a piece of vinyl with painter's tape. If you do not have suitable tables, take a solid board. Since the graffiti lettering is two-tone in this case, two-color vinyl sheets will be used. The golden piece of the original material will be fixed first, which is represented by the colored part in the picture.

Step 3. A cut-out inscription should be fixed on top of the vinyl sheet with the same masking tape.

Step 4. Take a sharp clerical knife and, pressing on it, cut out the inner colored part of the inscription.

Step 5. Remove the sheet of paper. Cut out a piece of vinyl with part of the design already transferred onto it.

Step 6. Using tweezers, carefully remove the pieces of vinyl around the lettering. Don't touch her yet.

Step 7. Do the same with the black vinyl sheet. Apply a printout with the middle already cut out to it. Draw a knife along its inner contours, and then walk along the outer edge of the pattern.

Step 8. If you did everything right, you will get the inscription itself and the shadow that gives it volume.

Step 9. Use adhesive tape to adhere the two parts of the lettering neatly and accurately. Paste it directly on top of the prepared picture.

Step 10. Use alcohol and cotton wool to wipe the surface to which you will stick the vinyl sticker.

Step 11. First, glue the inner, colored part of the decal and remove the strip of tape, and then fix the shadow cut out of black vinyl on the surface. Also remove the tape.
