If you like to make frames with your own hands and have already tried many ways to create or decorate them, then the option of a homemade textured frame that I made Hope, will not leave you indifferent! On the "Cross" there is a separate section dedicated to the creation, but such a "pearl" has not yet been in it.

To create a frame, prepare:

• base of binding cardboard of the desired size - 2 pieces (for the frame itself and the back wall);
• passe-partout (if desired);
• white acrylic primer;
• acrylic (textural) paste;
• acrylic paints (including - in the form of a spray);
• bandage or lace;
• PVA glue;
• brushes, palette knife, spatula, sponge, scissors, clerical knife.

First of all, we cut out the base from the binding cardboard. In this case, the size of the outer sides: 19 * 24 cm, the width of the margins of the frame is 3 cm, the inner window is 13 * 18 cm.

For the back wall, we cut out a rectangle 19 * 24 cm. Optionally, we make a passe-partout from paper or cardstock. The inner window is 9 * 14 cm. Thus, it will be possible to insert a 10 * 15 photo and it will gently hold on to the passe-partout without falling out of the frame.

As a result, three components of the frame are obtained: the back wall, the inner frame - mat and the front frame itself.

Let's start decorating the photo frame with our own hands. We primed it with white acrylic primer (recco). This can be done with a brush, but if you have special tools, you can use a small spatula or palette knife. Leave until completely dry.

To quickly dry the soil layer, put the frame in the oven, while keeping the door open. After 5 minutes, you can continue to work!

For further decoration, use lace or a regular bandage. Carefully lay it out in several places.

Using a palette knife, cover with a thin layer of soil. Dry again.

We cut the edges of the bandage with scissors, we clean the edges with sandpaper.

For the next step, you will need a stencil (cut out of plastic) or a ready-made mask (the author has a Prima mask).

Apply a stencil and cover with acrylic (texture) paste. Carefully remove the stencil. We trim the edges.

Empty spaces can also be covered with texture paste, for example creating a plaster effect. Set aside until completely dry (you can dry it in the oven as before).

Let's move on to coloring. In this version, the entire surface is painted over with cream-colored paint.

Now the frame looks like this, almost antiques.

If desired, you can create a slight effect of powdering. To do this, apply a small amount of white paint to the sponge, and gently touch the frame with this sponge.

Well, the final touch is a golden embossing with a newspaper stamp.

Embrossing in another way can be called the process of creating a three-dimensional pattern.
To do this, a rubber or silicone stamp is dipped into an ink pad, which is coated with transparent embossing ink. Then an impression is made on the paper and sprinkled with embossing powder (the powder can be used in different colors). Excess powder is shaken off with a brush.

The decorating process is complete. We proceed to the assembly of the frame.

The back - the base is decorated with sprays and a stamp with handwritten text, although this will be covered with a photograph later.

The inner frame is a passe-partout, slightly aged with white acrylic paint.

By the way, do not forget to make a leg for the frame. From thick cardboard, you need to cut a rectangle about 4 * 10 cm in size and glue a holder with a ribbon to it. The ribbon will not allow the leg to unfold to the end.

We glue all the layers of the frame: outer and inner (passe-partout) around the perimeter. Then on three sides we glue the inner frame to the base (leave the fourth, upper side not glued, we will insert a photo through it).

Three layers are glued. If an uneven edge protrudes somewhere, then it can be trimmed with sandpaper. And tint the cleaned edges with white primer. The frame is ready! I decided to write this post because a long time ago I made my first soft photo frame, and just recently I repeated the experiment and I was more than pleased with the result. Today I will share with you the secrets of creating it, and also show you what other types of photo frames you can make yourself using improvised materials.

How to make photo frames with your own hands: master classes

Children's photo frame "Totoro" ("Photo Frame")

Let's start with a cute children's photo frame inspired by the wonderful anime "My Neighbor Totoro" (if you haven't watched it, be sure to check it out, you won't regret it).

You will need:

• soft stretchy fabric (fleece (example - green fabric in the photo), minky fleece, velsoft, tight knitwear, etc.)
• thin fabric for the heel (cotton, fleece, etc.)
• synthetic winterizer (cloth)
• plastic base (from under equipment, sweets, etc.)
• threads, needles, scissors, accessories for decoration.

There should be enough plastic base to make three parts the size of the desired photo frame.

First of all, you will need to cut out the plastic base (round, square, triangular - whichever you like best) similarly to that shown in the photo. In this case, it's a flat donut. Cut out several details from the synthetic winterizer of the same shape. I will show a master class on the example of a circle.

You will also need 1 more piece of soft, stretchy fabric, but with large seam allowances.

Attention! Do not save fabric on allowances, they should be about 2/3 from the width of the ring so that the fabric is evenly distributed at the back.

We immediately proceed to the most important part - stitching the front. To do this, make small cuts on the inside of the circle (near the allowances) and sew the edges, pulling them with threads to each other as close as possible. (Specially chose a contrasting thread color to make it noticeable).

Advice. If you have chosen a rectangular shape, then you are unlikely to need incisions, you can try to make them without them.

This is what the ring looks like from the front. If desired, you can hide the seams at the back with a thin fabric overlay (I'll show you how to do this a little further).

Set the ring aside. Cut out two circles from thin fabric and plastic (one is not needed yet). Make fabric circles a millimeter or two larger than plastic ones.

Sew the fabric circles, leaving room to turn inside out and insert the plastic base.

After sewing, turn the fabric part inside out, insert a plastic circle there and sew the remaining hole.

We received the back of the photo frame.

If desired, sew a loop of thread or ribbon into it so that you can hang the photo frame on the wall.

This is how I camouflaged the back of the fluffy bagel. To do this, I cut out the same element from a thin fabric as from a stretch one, but now I made the seam allowances smaller and hid them inside, sewing the masking with a blind seam. Sew the back with the same seam.

Sew the back so that in the future you can insert the last circle of plastic and a photo from above.

Try to make small stitches so that they are not noticeable after stitching the parts.

The method described above is far from the easiest of the possible methods for creating a photo frame. Now you will be convinced of this

In fact, regular cardboard can also be used if it is folded into the shape of such a lid. As you can see, the creation process is simple: just take the lid and cover it with pretty scrapbooking paper.

It is convenient to fasten such frames together, as a result of which a whole set is formed. They can be glued together to get a panel. It turns out a great option for both children and adults.

Cardboard and clothespins

It is these two elements that will be needed for the next type of photo frame. Cut out a circle similar to what we did in the first master class and glue clothespins around it. We get a simple frame for several photos.

Using fabric and thread

In continuation of the first master class. Here I have included all those frames that can be knitted or sewn (in a pinch, use ideas for decoration).

8. Secure the pieces with small nails.

Pasta and cardboard picture frame

Materials:

• glue "Titan" or "Master";
• pasta in the form of flowers;
• paint can;
• awl;

• stapler;

Progress:

1. We cut out a rectangle 4 cm larger than the future work from the box.
