Kitchen dryer - do-it-yourself dish rack. Do-it-yourself dryer for dishes Do-it-yourself drying for plates from one and a half

A dish dryer is a must have in the kitchen. It not only allows you to dry plates, cups and other utensils, but also is a storage place for those dishes that are used constantly. Therefore, manufacturers of kitchen appliances offer various designs of dryers.

Types of dryers

Dryers are divided into several categories depending on the design features, material and place where this device is installed.

Embedded

Traditional designs include dryers that are installed in a kitchen cabinet hanging above the sink. Although such a design option can also be mounted in floor cabinets, if such a solution for organizing dish drying was supplied to the furniture design developers by the customer. Built-in type dryers can be straight or angled. The last option is made for corner wall cabinets.

At the same time, the designs of dryers are stationary or retractable. Simple models are two tiers: the lower one for plates and the upper one for mugs and cups. At the bottom, a drip tray must be installed. Manufacturers offer models where there is a pallet under each tier. This is the best option for built-in dish drying. It costs a little more, but from a practical point of view it is better.

Today in stores you can find kitchen utensil dryers with a complex design, in which there are several compartments for different utensils. For example, for glasses, spoons and forks, dryers are equipped with additional compartments.

Speaking about the pros and cons of this model, it should be noted that in terms of design this option is optimal. The dryer is not visible because it is hidden by the kitchen facades. But there is also a negative side of this device: humidity is always increased inside the cabinet, which negatively affects the quality of the kitchen set. It is the cabinet where the dish dryer is located that fails the fastest. Therefore, this variety is recommended to be used as an auxiliary element. That is, the dishes in it need to be dried when water has already drained from it. To ensure good ventilation, craftsmen make holes in the back wall. Sometimes the facades are shortened from the bottom, inserting a decorative lattice there.

Desktop

There is a huge variety of design solutions in this category. Since this device is always in sight, manufacturers are trying to pay great attention to the design of the dryer. Today the market offers one-, two- and three-tier designs, with or without additional compartments for cutlery. There are stationary, folding and retractable models. The sizes of dryers are different: compact and large.

The place of permanent installation is a sink or countertop next to the sink. Depending on the design of the kitchen, especially the sink, desktop dryers should be selected so that they do not stand out from the overall interior concept of the room.

If the sink in the kitchen is located next to the window, or there is no hanging cabinet above it, then the dryer installed next to it will be open to dust. Therefore, it is recommended to look in stores for a dryer with a lid. Most often it is a plastic product with a plastic pallet.

Mounted

These are lattice structures that are attached to the wall with rails or installed inside a wall cabinet. There is a small assortment in this category, because most often such models are single-tier. Such devices are best hung on the wall. Their installation is determined by the installation of brackets that come with the device, they are fixed to the wall above the sink using self-tapping screws and plastic dowels. After that, the grid is installed on two brackets.

Mounted models are attached to the rails, in the design of which there are hooks. Dryers for dishes are selected based on the amount of free space. Dryers of a removable design can also be installed on the inner planes of the doors of the kitchen set.

Number of levels

Single-level dryers are inconvenient because all items of dishes are placed on one plane indiscriminately. And if the family is large, then there may not be enough space. Therefore, the optimal solution for any kitchen is multi-level structures. Most often, dryers have two levels, so large dishes can be installed separately from small items. In this case, you need to select models that will fit the largest plates. Therefore, the best option is structures with adjustable tiers in height.

Dryer Troflex

Drying for dishes of this type is a grid, grate or perforated board. They are made of stainless steel or plastic. Such a device is installed directly on the sink, on one of its bowls. It is not attached to anything, but lies with its edges on the edges of the bowl. In this case, the water flows directly into the sink. In addition, you can put not only dishes on such a dryer, but also washed vegetables and fruits.

This device is always at hand. After operation, it is wiped dry and placed next to the sink or placed in the drawer of the cabinet of the kitchen set. Manufacturers offer Troflexes in the form of a roll-up mat, which is assembled from silicone or plastic rods. These models come in different colors, so choosing the right product to match the design of the kitchen is not difficult. But in any case, such dryers do not carry a designer load, they are invisible and have a small weight.

Dryer Selection Criteria

There are several items that you should pay attention to when buying a kitchen dryer.

materials

Here the variety is small, because the main requirement for the materials from which dish dryers are made is strength and moisture resistance. Therefore, manufacturers offer devices made of the following materials.

  • Steel products coated with chrome or enamel. The first option is better because chrome plating is a long-term layer. In this regard, enameled structures lose. Unfortunately, the enamel does not withstand frequent shock loads, which is a common thing for a dryer.
  • From stainless steel. Expensive model, but with a long service life. In addition, such a dryer will require special maintenance.
  • Plastic - the cheapest, but light and bright products. Unfortunately, they do not have a long service life. Products are made of durable plastic, but there are also very cheap devices on the market that will not last even a year.
  • Wooden. Wood, as a material for the manufacture of dryers, is often used. It is coated with special water-repellent compounds, so that it copes with water and moisture perfectly. True, manufacturers recommend periodically coating wooden fixtures with protective mixtures in order to extend their life. In addition, the tree fits perfectly into any kitchen interior design.

Pallets are made of stainless steel or plastic. Both materials have virtually no wear life. In addition, they are hygienic and easy to clean.

Size range

The variant of the dryer in terms of dimensions is a small model range, which is determined by the range of 40-80 centimeters with a gradation of 10 centimeters. And the larger the size, the more dishes will fit on the dryer. For example, a dryer 40 centimeters long can fit only 12 plates. And for a device 60 centimeters long - already 18.

However, some models have standard sizes. For example, the dimensions of built-in structures, or rather, their width is determined by the width of the wall cabinet. It has a standard size - 60 centimeters. Although the designers claim that 60 centimeters is the optimal size for desktop structures.

When choosing a multi-tiered model, you need to pay attention to the distance between the levels. It should not be less than 30 centimeters, this will allow you to install plates with a large diameter on the lower tier. Appliances longer than 60 centimeters are made with two pallets. The latter must be removable or retractable.

Alternative option

The dish dryer is not necessarily a grid or mesh. Today, rugs with dimensions of 30x40 or 50x60 centimeters have appeared on the market. They are spread near the sink and wet dishes are laid on them. As soon as the water drains, the dishes are put on the shelves, and the mat is rolled up and put away in a drawer.

Today, manufacturers offer rugs made from different materials:

  • Rubber, silicone, plastic with a ribbed or corrugated surface. Water collects between the ribs, which is easy to drain, and the mat to dry or wipe dry.
  • Fabric, which includes a fiber made of synthetic fibers. Such rugs absorb moisture, after which they have to be dried. But in terms of workmanship and durability, they are not inferior to models from the first category.

Rules for installing a dryer in a cabinet

Installing a dish dryer with your own hands means choosing the right one for the size of the cabinet. Since its standard depth is 30 centimeters, the device is selected in accordance with the resulting dimensional indicator. In this case, a dryer with a width of 28 centimeters is purchased, the remaining two centimeters are left to close the cabinet doors.

There is a wide variety of designs of built-in dryers, therefore, they are mounted inside the cabinet in different ways. Here it is important to install the fasteners exactly according to the level, and already put grids or gratings on them. Therefore, kitchen sets that go on sale or are made to order come to the customer or buyer with an already assembled dryer inside. But if the task is to install a drying rack for dishes in a cabinet that is already hanging assembled, then here you have to make an effort:

  • First of all, the installation level of the device is determined. To do this, you need to assemble it and insert it into the cabinet, holding it with your hands. Thus, a convenient height for operation is set. Now the device is removed and disassembled.
  • Fasteners are attached to the side walls, so even at the fitting stage, marks are made on the sides with a marker for the places where the screws will be attached.
  • Brackets are fixed to them, for which self-tapping screws are used, which come with the dryer. The main thing is that the fasteners are located at the same horizontal level.

As for the installation of wall models, first of all, as in the previous case, you should decide on the installation height.

  • A horizontal line is drawn along the height with a marker, to which one of the two brackets is applied so that its mounting hole, located above, coincides with the line drawn on the wall.
  • The bracket is installed exactly vertically, after which two points are placed on the wall through the holes.
  • From the point on the line to the right or left, depending on the installation location of the dryer, the width of the device is laid off, where points are also placed.
  • Now holes are drilled into them, where plastic dowels are driven.
  • It remains only to attach the brackets to the attachment point and pull them with self-tapping screws to the wall surface.
  • And the last step is to put the grids or gratings on the brackets.

The assembly of the dryer is carried out strictly according to the instructions that manufacturers attach to the accompanying documents.

Homemade dryers

Designers also offer a homemade version of the dryer for the kitchen. It is easiest to make wooden products, not metal structures, because wood is easier to process. One of the original options is a pencil dryer.

This will require a regular or cutting board, where several holes are drilled. The latter should be arranged in rows to indicate where the dishes are to be installed. Pencils are inserted into the holes, the ends of which are pre-coated with glue. In this case, the installation must be carried out so that the free ends of the pencils are at the same level, as shown in the photo below.

Such a dryer will become not only a decorative element, but also a practical device. The dryer is also assembled from wooden hangers on which clothes are hung. The design is not as simple as with pencils, but it looks more aesthetic. Here you will need an accurate calculation and additional fasteners in the form of four wooden ties. The photo below shows such an original homemade dryer.

Conclusion on the topic

Thus, kitchen dryers differ from each other in shape, design and size. Therefore, choosing the right option is not so easy. In this case, it is recommended to determine the dimensions and materials, and only then determine the shape based on the number of tiers. In some places, the dryer can be inconvenient, so it is recommended to think through everything in advance.

How to make a cabinet for drying dishes with your own hands

Dish drying cabinet is part of the built-in kitchen. Such a cabinet is usually located above the sink. Consider the design of the cabinet for drying dishes and the drying itself.

Types of dryers for dishes

There are two main types of dish dryers that are built into dish cabinets:

Dryers with polymer coating, usually white

These are inexpensive drying, which is called an economy option. Such drying is supplied with one tray for water flowing from the dishes.

Dryers more than 600 mm bend, and they are not durable, rust begins to appear over time, the pallet breaks easily. Installation of a white dryer is simple, 8 holes with a diameter of 8 mm are drilled, into which plastic bushings are installed.

Galvanized dryer, usually chrome color

More expensive, 5-10 times the price difference, but also a more durable dish drying option.

Dish dryer width

By drying width for 400, 450, 500, 600, 800, 900 mm. The size is given for the size of the cabinet in which the dryer will be built in. That is, drying at 400 mm means that it will be installed in a cabinet with a width of 400 mm.

There is such a nuance here, there are dryers that are installed either in a case made of chipboard 16 mm thick or 18 mm thick, and there are universal ones that are suitable for both 16 and 18 mm chipboard due to the use of special gaskets, pay attention to this when buying a dryer .

The optimal size is 600 mm, 400-500 mm is small, and 800-900 mm begin to sag under the weight of dishes, and the dish drying cabinet itself turns out to be heavy when loaded with such a width.

Varieties of dryers for dishes:

  • installed in a cabinet with drawers
  • drying, which is hung on the railing
  • desktop drying drying in a corner cabinet.

Drying cabinet design

In general, by design drying cabinet corresponds to an ordinary cabinet, except for the bottom of the cabinet. The fact is that there is high humidity in the cabinet for drying dishes and additional ventilation is necessary. To solve this problem, the bottom in such a cabinet is not made or made in the form of two slats 100 mm wide.

Drying cabinet design with a bottom of two strips are made for cheap white dryers and for dryers that do not have a groove in the back for installing a fiberboard back wall.

In the design variant without a bottom, the bottom is the lower part of the dryer, or rather its frame. That is, drying itself provides the necessary rigidity of the structure. Although, in my opinion, this should be done when the drying cabinet is located between other cabinets in the kitchen. You should do this, because under the weight of the dishes, the drying fixture does not withstand, and the drying body in the lower part begins to move apart.

The article discusses a reliable and aesthetic way to install a standard dish dryer in a custom-sized cabinet. Installing a dish dryer in a cupboard

Option to install a standard dish dryer in a cabinet of non-standard sizes

Furniture standards for a dish dryer ensure its installation in a cabinet with a front width of 400, 500, 600 mm, etc. At the same time, the length of the dryer will be 32 mm less than the indicated front width. It is clear that installing a dryer in a properly designed cabinet is not a problem: put marks, drilled holes, inserted latches and installed the dryer.

And what can be done if the kitchen requires the installation of a dish dryer in a cabinet with non-standard dimensions (old or home-made furniture, etc.).

Consider an original idea for a beautiful and high-quality installation of a dryer in a non-standard cabinet.

Required set of materials and tools:

  • awl;
  • drill;
  • roulette;
  • Dryer;
  • pencil;
  • hacksaw for metal;
  • drill for metal with a diameter of 12 mm;
  • copper tube for air conditioning, 12.7 mm in diameter;
  • caliper with caliper (for taking accurate measurements).

Dish dryer installation

To begin with, it is necessary to fit a dryer with a size smaller than the width of the box itself. For example, the inner width of the drawer is 500mm, so you need to choose a dryer with a length of 500mm. But, since the length of the drying set is indicated by the width of the facade, its actual size will be 468 mm. If you take a dryer larger than the required box size, then such an important part of the headset as a water trap cannot be installed under it.

Mounting hole marking

The dryer should be placed at a height of 100 - 140 mm from the bottom of the drawer and 300 - 400 mm from the top shelf.

Scheme of installing a shelf for dishes in a kitchen cabinet.

With this in mind, four holes are marked for fastening. A dryer with dressed fasteners leans against one wall of the cabinet and places for drilling mounting holes are outlined. The distance is measured from the second mount to the free stand.

Drilling holes and installing inserts

Holes are drilled in the marked places, with a diameter of 12 mm and a depth of 13 mm. Hole parameters are controlled by a caliper. The size is measured from the copper tube: the distance from the dryer attachment to the free wall divided by two and 14 mm is added to this size (13 mm hole depth and plus 1 mm for installation error).

For example, the free dimension is 50 mm, then the length of one tube is: (50 / 2) + 14 = 29 mm. Such copper stops need 4 pieces.

With a hacksaw for metal, the prepared copper tube is cut into measured lengths. Prepared copper inserts are hammered into holes with a diameter of 12 mm. Fasteners are inserted into them, and the dryer is mounted in a cabinet.

An example of installing a dish dryer in a cabinet with a wider width.

This method of mounting the dryer is reliable and original. Fits perfectly in the design of chipboard, with a red or brown structure.

An open rack or dish rack is involuntarily associated with country style. But even in a modern interior there is a place for this convenient device. The purely pragmatic nature and lack of frills make dryers desirable helpers in the kitchen.

It is better if you put everyday dishes there, and not those that fall on the table on special occasions, and on other days are only covered with dust. Instead of pulling the right dish out of the cabinet every time, you can remove it from the stand with one movement, where each item is in its place and therefore is not afraid of chips and cracks.

Today, the online magazine Ideas for Kitchen Interiors is ready to talk about 13 options for the proper placement of a dish dryer.

A separate dryer that hangs over the sink. This arrangement seems quite logical. The stand looks lighter and more open than a wall cabinet with doors, and it is very convenient to put dishes on it after unloading the dishwasher. The size and capacity of the dryer in the photo is no less impressive than its appearance in the center of the kitchen wall.

Dryer installed inside the kitchen cabinet. If you have to work with a non-standard space, and there is no way to place wall cabinets on either side of a separate plate rack, there is a practical way to keep the relative symmetry. The combination shown in the photo looks very harmonious, although it is located almost in the corner of the kitchen.

Dryer, which is part of the headset. If you are ordering a set of wall cabinets with dish rack, look for glass doors instead of regular fronts for a more open and cohesive look. And don't be afraid to show off all your dishes, because they don't have to be uniform!

If the dryer is complemented by an open shelf, then it will look less utilitarian.

Even an ultra-modern kitchen can afford the luxury of having a built-in dish dryer. In our example, it is located between horizontal cabinets with glass fronts in an aluminum frame.

It is important that the plate holder can be hung on the same level with all the items in the headset, without risking hitting the open cabinet door while washing dishes. They just have to be lifted up.

A dryer that contrasts with the rest of the furniture. You can deliberately hang a stand that is radically different in color from neighboring cabinets to make the interior look deeper and more intriguing.

The dryer in the photo is part of a symmetrical combination due to its location between two kitchen windows, although the bottom of the furniture set is completely out of alignment with the top.

This stand meets several of the characteristics mentioned earlier: it has a contrasting decor and looks very balanced, although it is not visually symmetrical.

An exquisite dryer counterbalances a solid cupboard from the opposite edge of the headset. These two objects do not match at all in shape and size, but subtly interact with each other.

Dryer located low above the countertop. It's a great idea to make a plate rack part of an open shelf, which in turn is part of a wall cabinet that rests on the desktop surface.

This option is suitable for you if this area of \u200b\u200bthe countertop is used little. I must say that the combination of open and closed elements of various sizes looks more entertaining than a series of identical wall cabinets.

The dryer can become part of a convenient storage system if it is located between an open shelf and a spacious sideboard.

Dryer equipped in a niche. The unoccupied section of the wall above the fireplace and stove is ideal for arranging a spacious shelving unit. In our case, one of its shelves is a plate dryer.

We could not do without an example in which the plates on the shelf would not stand on edge, but straight. Such a demonstrative way of storing dishes does not exclude the possibility of its regular use. A small recess in the wall may be sufficient for arranging a compact drying rack.

The dryer does not have to be in the kitchen. It can be hung in the pantry or in the hallway leading to the dining room.

Now kitchen dish dryers are a necessary attribute and an important element of decor. Their range is huge: original desktop or wall-mounted models and built-in convenient drawer cabinets.

In a dryer mounted in a small cabinet above the sink, or in floor-standing models, we both dry and store dishes. The advantages of open dryers are their expediency and spectacular decorative effect: every day we turn our dishes into a kind of art object that complements the style of the kitchen.

Constructions

  • The single-level dryer only holds plates and comes in both wall-mounted and tabletop versions.
  • The two-tier drying rack is divided vertically for plates and horizontally for cups.
  • In the dryer for all cutlery there are compartments for knives, spoons, forks.
  • A universal dryer can also become a place for permanent storage of dishes.

Freestanding

There are a great many such models, as can be seen from numerous photos.

Peculiarities:

  • There are samples with pallets of different shapes and without them, single-tier and two-tier. You can even buy models with sections separately for forks, knives, spoons.
  • We fix the freestanding structure directly on the kitchen sink. Most often it is a dryer-lattice made of steel.
  • Let's place the compact wall dryer above the sink. It is also advisable to hang it above the work surface if the dryer has a tray.
  • Advanced models have a slope towards the bowl, from which water enters directly into the sewer.

  • A large desktop dryer will even accommodate a festive service. We rarely use it, as an additional one, and the daily load is on suspended models that do not take up much space.
  • The floor capacious dryer is a convenient cabinet with pull-out sections for plates, cups, bowls and other utensils.

Embedded

Peculiarities:

  • The built-in sink dryer is an additional sink wing. The perforations on the wing are excellent at retaining water. But it is inconvenient to always store dishes here, because the sink is constantly involved.
  • There is also a model-analogue of a modern built-in dryer - troflex.
  • Place the pot lid dryers on the inside door of the kitchen cupboard or on the wall next to the hob.
  • As a compromise, you can build a dryer in a special drawer. The main thing is to place the pallet correctly so that the furniture does not swell from the water.

materials

Wood

Modern drying - strong metal holders, wooden frame, plastic pallet.

  • Particularly good for both use and aesthetic perception are wooden kitchen dish racks.
  • The moisture-proof covering reliably protects them from water and evaporations.
  • Such wooden fixtures are the brightest decor element for an interior in a country or classic style.
  • Drying from coniferous wood, attractive and environmentally friendly, with a pleasant pine smell, we can do it ourselves, guided by the video.

Metal

  • The best kitchen dish dryers are made of durable stainless steel, which is relevant for modern kitchen design.
  • Any dryer made of metal must additionally be protected by a special coating, preferably chromium.
  • The latest powder dyes are also reliable.

Plastic

  • Colored and attractive plastic dryers are not as durable, but their price is much lower.
  • When buying such a product, we will check its strength: the plastic must be rigid and at the same time moderately thick.
  • It is plastic dryers that are now fashionable, popular, and their timely replacement will unexpectedly bring a pleasant novelty to the interior of the kitchen.

Choosing a dryer

Which one lasts longer

  • Drying made of chrome and stainless steel is the most reliable and durable. Painted such models made of metal or covered with a film will serve us for more than a year.
  • A plastic dryer, created in modern high-tech production, will never lose its novelty, but it can be unstable and tip over under the weight of a pile of dishes.

Which is more convenient

  • When buying a dryer, we still choose a universal model with a pallet. This tray will save our furniture and floors.
  • The removable tray makes it easy to clean the entire dryer. Yes, and draining water from the built-in tray is troublesome.
  • The drawer sections must be fitted with locks to prevent the plates from rolling when the drawer is pulled out.

We make and install the dryer ourselves

Instruction for wooden dryer:

  • We cut pine bars 20 × 20 mm and rounded Ø10 mm with an electric jigsaw along the length.
  • We grind all the formed surfaces.
  • In the back and front crossbars, we carefully drill holes for inclined rounded bars.
  • We assemble the frame, connecting the longitudinal bars with the transverse ones with screws.
  • Glue the slanted partitions.
  • We prime, carefully grind and cover the surface with high-quality varnish in 2 layers.

Let's take care of reliable fastening.

Drill, puncher, plastic dowels, iron hooks will not allow drying to fly off the wall.

  • To attach the dryer top bar to the wall, drill 2 six-millimeter holes. But first, on the back side of the plank, we glue 2 wooden plates - this is how we strengthen it.
  • Now we will attach the dryer to the wall with stainless screws into the dowels hammered into the wall in advance.

Undoubtedly, the kitchen dish dryer is the most important accessory in the kitchen that simplifies our lives and saves time. And now we will make the right choice of such a valuable and beautiful assistant.

A place for drying dishes, today is an indispensable attribute of any kitchen. Often, a dish dryer is mounted in a kitchen set, becoming a built-in part of the furniture structure. The rapid development of scientific and technological progress, which brought dishwashers into our lives, could not overshadow the trend of using dish dryers. Although an automatic dishwasher does all the work for us: it washes, dries, but sometimes the dishes only need to be rinsed. This can also be done manually.

But where to dry the dishes, because the daily use of cutlery is limited to a set amount, often only enough dishes for two people? A small number of plates that are used every day are conveniently placed in the dishwasher. This will provide convenient and quick access to it. In this article we will tell you what dish dryers are, as well as how a do-it-yourself dish dryer is made.

Types of dish dryers

There are two main subsections of dryers:

  • Embedded in the kitchen set;
  • Placed independently from the headset (external drying for dishes).

Stand types:

  1. Embedded. These include:
    • Those that are built into the upper hanging bedside tables.
    • Those that are built into the lower bedside tables.
  2. Independent. These include:
    • Dryers that are placed on the countertop.
    • Wall.
    • Hanging on rails.

In most kitchen sets, the dryer is an element built into the cabinet - this is an ergonomic and practical solution. All cutlery is hidden behind the facade of the bedside table, does not occupy the working area and does not attract the attention of guests. Therefore, the need to make a dryer for dishes with your own hands disappears. But this is not always the case.

Dryers built into wall cabinets

This type of dryer is the most common. As a rule, they are placed in cabinets that are located above the dishwashing area. Such a small trick of furniture developers makes it possible to reduce the number of movements that housewives make in the process of washing dishes. By placing such a dryer under the dishes in the sink area, the hostess can simplify furniture care and reduce the frequency of washing it. So, drops of water from the plates will drain into the sink, and not onto the work surface.

Classification:

  • Drying on a frame or without it.
  • Single and multi-level structures that extend for drying tableware, including corner dryers.

With or without frame

In order for the cutlery to dry evenly, it is necessary to create favorable conditions in the bedside table, in which the dryer is built-in:

  • As a rule, they are produced without a bottom edge, thereby ensuring good ventilation of the cabinet.
  • To make the design more stable, the dryers are equipped with a special frame that functions as the bottom of the cabinet.
  • Occasionally they are made with a bottom where two holes are made from which a lattice is formed.

Important! Both types of dryers are suitable, both with and without frames.

Single-level frame

Frame drying, which ensures the strength and stability of the structure, is made for a specific model of the bedside table from high-strength material. When choosing this type of dish dryer, you must know the parameters of your product and the thickness of the material used for manufacturing. It will not work here, so knowing all the parameters is simply a must. Often, do-it-yourself dish dryers for cabinets are made of 18 and 16 mm chipboard.

Important! The main environment for using single-level dryers are horizontal hanging bollards. Their main difference is in the gratings. You can put both plates and glasses on them.

Multilevel

Multi-level dish dryers consist of two parts:

  • Top rack for glasses and cups.
  • Bottom grill for plates.

Important! The placement of the gratings can vary, depending on the wishes of the customer.

Corner dryers can be distinguished as a separate subsection adapted for drying dishes. Thanks to the L-shaped design, the interior space of the corner cabinet can be used more rationally.

Important! A characteristic feature of corner dryers is their design. They are made only with two doors, and they are intended only for installation in bedside tables of a standard size of 60 by 60 cm.

Floor structures

A pull-out dryer in a floor cabinet will be appropriate in a kitchen equipped with a dishwasher. Due to the fact that it is quite difficult to provide ventilation in the lower cabinets, the dishes that are placed in such a cabinet should already be dry.

The dishwasher does a great job. Therefore, the dish dryer, located in the lower pedestal of the headset, will rather serve as a place for practical saving of cutlery - everything is at hand and in one place.

Important! Dryers that are built into floor cabinets can also be either single or multi-level.

Separate dish dryers

The advantage of stationary types of dryers that do not depend on the configuration of kitchen furniture is that they can be installed in any place convenient for you. It can be both a work surface and an apron rail. Such dryers are popular among the hostesses of older models, with characteristic furniture parameters that differ from modern standards.

Important! Such dryers are characterized by their small dimensions. Some types can be easily transformed to suit the conditions: they can be installed both in the cabinet and on the countertop. By the way, you can easily make a dish dryer with your own hands.

Dryer for dishes made of wood

The assembly of a dryer for kitchen appliances, like the design of any other piece of furniture, consists of several stages:

  • Pre-cut prepared pine or spruce blocks with a jigsaw.

Important! On average, their size should be 1 cm for cylindrical sticks and 2 cm for laths and 1 cm for cylindrical sticks.

  • Sand all surfaces thoroughly.
  • At the base of the design, drill holes for the side rails that will hold the dishes.
  • Assemble the frame by connecting the longitudinal and transverse structural elements.
  • Glue the side partitions at an angle.
  • Make the surface waterproof by over-priming, sanding and varnishing with several coats.

Using your imagination, you can create an exclusive do-it-yourself dish dryer for the interior of your kitchen. Such a product will serve not only as an irreplaceable thing, but also as a bright addition.

Drying pencils

A very original souvenir for the kitchen can be made using the most unexpected items. For example, an interesting drying for kitchen utensils can be obtained from pencils:

  1. Take a wooden cutting board or just a piece of wood as the base for the coaster.
  2. Mark the holes on the board. The holes should be located in the place where the racks will stand in the dryer to hold the dishes.
  3. Pencils are used as racks.
  4. Drill holes with a drill and insert pencils pre-lubricated with glue into them.

The original do-it-yourself dish dryer is ready!
