Interior wall decoration with bricks is very popular and is used in various interior styles - country, loft, gothic, English style. Laying natural bricks requires professional skills; you can decorate the walls inside the room on your own using plastic panels for brick walls for interior decoration.

The use of panels that imitate brickwork allows you to introduce unique design ideas, the material goes well with other types of finishes, effectively hides the unevenness of the work surface.
The advantages of wall panels include such properties of decorative material as:

  • ease of installation work;
  • environmental and fire safety;
  • moisture resistance;
  • soundproofing properties;
  • resistance to temperature extremes, corrosion and ultraviolet;
  • ease of care;
  • durability;
  • affordable price.

Unlike natural brick, panels for interior decoration do not reduce space, do not weigh down the supporting structures.

Another plus of the building decorative material is maintainability, if it is necessary to replace one of the elements, it will not be necessary to dismantle the entire sheathing, it is enough to replace a separate section.

Types of brick panels for interior decoration

Today on the building materials market there are several types of materials for interior decoration under brick:

  • PVC panels;
  • MDF panels.

PVC panels

PVC panels are made from polyvinyl chloride with the addition of softening components. Brick-like wall panels are made using special molds, the production technology allows you to give the finishing material the required volume. Finished decorative elements are painted with resistant paints or pasted over with a film that imitates brick or natural stone.

Brick PVC wall panels are produced in several formats - in the form of rails, slabs or sheets. Standard dimensions of a sheet panel imitating brickwork:

length - 2.5-3 meters;

width - from 1 to one and a half meters;

thickness - from 0.8 to 1 meter.

Plastic panels in the form of rails are a hollow structure inside, reinforced with stiffeners. There are several options for the size of rack PVC panels on the construction market. The length of the decorative rail can be 3000, 4500 or 6000 millimeters, the width varies in the range of 100, 200 or 300 millimeters, the thickness of the rail can reach 50, 60, 80, 100 millimeters.

Application area:

  • wall cladding of residential and public buildings;
  • decorative finishing of utility rooms;
  • decoration of balconies, loggias, terraces;
  • facade work.

Brick-like pvc panels on the balcony

The main advantages of PVC wall panels:

  • realistic appearance;
  • a wide variety of shapes and colors;
  • light weight;
  • flexibility;
  • low cost.

MDF panels

Chipboard panels are widely used for exterior and interior wall cladding.

The MDF panel is based on pressed wood chips, modified resins with a minimum amount of formaldehyde act as a binder. The production technology consists in dry pressing of wood raw materials under high pressure.

MDF (Fibreboard) brick panels

MDF panels are characterized by higher quality and durability in comparison with PVC products, however, the cost of the material is correspondingly higher.

Advantages of MDF panels:

  • hygiene;
  • environmental Safety;
  • the ability to withstand additional loads (it is permissible to hang cabinets and shelves on a wall lined with MDF board);
  • acceptable price.

Mounting methods

Brick wall panels for interior decoration can be mounted in two ways:

  • on glue;
  • on the crate.

Do-it-yourself installation of panels on glue

This method is most often used for decorative wall decoration with PVC panels. Installation of facing material is carried out in several stages.

The first step is to prepare the work surface. Elements of the past finish, dust and dirt are removed from the walls.

If necessary, the walls to be finished are leveled with a plaster and putty mortar. After the plaster layer has dried, the surface is primed and dried.

The second stage is the installation of PVC plates. To perform installation work, you will need the following tools and materials:

  • jigsaw;
  • building level;
  • construction adhesive mixtures or liquid nails;
  • mortar for finishing seams.

Installation of the finishing material is carried out in the direction from the corner to the center. Fitting the finishing panels to the required size is carried out using a jigsaw.

When using a building mixture, the solution is applied to the wall, and not to the finishing material. Decorative panels "sit" on the solution. The correctness of fastening relative to the horizontal and vertical is checked using the building level.

When using "liquid nails", the fixing material is applied to the wrong side of the panel in a dotted or zigzag line. Next, the panel is pressed against the surface, torn off and pressed again for a few seconds, smoothed in the direction from the center to the edges. After the fragment has grabbed the wall, proceed to the installation of the next element. After complete drying, the seams between the individual elements are rubbed with a solution.

Installation of "brick" panels on the crate

The method of mounting decorative panels on the crate will allow you to hide engineering communications, this method is often used along with heat and sound insulation measures.

The technology of facing internal walls using lathing consists of two main stages:

  • creating a framework;
  • installation of decorative panels on the crate.

Wireframe creation

Advantages of the frame method

The method of attaching panels to the crate has a number of advantages:

  • the treated surface does not require special preparation;
  • a properly mounted frame will ensure the evenness of the walls;
  • ease of dismantling of decorative panels.

The disadvantages of this method include:

  • time and financial costs;
  • reduction in floor space.

Work procedure

Interior wall decoration with decorative brick panels is performed using tools such as:

  • roulette;
  • building level;
  • screwdriver;
  • electric jigsaw or hand saw;
  • construction stapler.

In addition to panels imitating brickwork, you will need:

  • self-tapping screws and dowel nails;
  • wooden or metal slats;
  • fasteners;
  • starting profile;
  • finishing profile;
  • Staples.

To create a base for decorative cladding, wooden planks with a cross section of at least 20x20 mm are used. The process of mounting a wooden crate is simpler compared to a metal counterpart, however, a frame made of wooden planks has its own characteristics:

  • a wooden frame is not advisable to use in rooms with high humidity;
  • wooden elements of the crate must be treated without fail with special antifungal compounds.

Installation of a wooden frame is carried out as follows:

first of all, wooden slats are attached to the floor and ceiling, after which they proceed to the installation of longitudinal racks in increments not exceeding 50 cm. holes I mark the wall. Further, holes are drilled in the wall and “nests” for fasteners are placed, vertical racks of the frame are mounted. At all stages of installation work, the quality of the installation is controlled using the building level. To improve sound and heat insulation, the space between the frame rails can be filled with insulation.

The process of creating a metal frame is close to the technology of erecting a wooden structure, the main difference is the use of a large number of hardware. The lathing is based on metal UD (narrow rails) and CD (wide) profiles. Initially, the guide racks are attached to the floor and ceiling, the rails are mounted parallel to each other. Then intermediate rails are installed in the following order: parallel lines are marked, providing for a step between vertical metal profiles within 50-70 cm. U-shaped fasteners are installed along the marking line, the number of fasteners is at least five pieces per vertical rack. A wall profile is inserted into the guide racks and rigidly fixed by means of U-samples.

Metal crate

Paneling frame

After the frame structure is made, you can proceed to the direct lining of the crate with decorative elements. First of all, the starting profile is attached to the rails of the frame structure using a construction stapler and metal brackets. Further, wall panels are mounted one after another, the elements are also fixed with a stapler and staples. After the installation of the penultimate decorative panel, the finishing profile is installed, the last plate is cut to the desired size and inserted into the finishing profile. The process of facing the internal walls is over!
In conclusion, we suggest watching a short video on the installation of plastic panels for brick walls:

The most innovative material for interior decoration are wall panels that imitate brickwork. Such an unusual design fits quite well into the interior of fusion style, loft, pop art, hi-tech and others. In addition to the extravagant look, decorative brick effect panels for interior decoration are quite practical and easy to maintain, thanks to which they gain great popularity in the consumer market every year.

Features of brick panels

Brick-like panels for interior wall decoration are a great combination with any room design. They harmonize well with decorative plaster, with wood, metal and wallpaper of different colors, including dull gray.

Brick-like wall panels can be placed on one wall, at the corner joints of two surfaces, the ceiling of a building or in a two-level floor, which is quite convenient in creating an individual interior.

In addition, with the help of such decorative products, you can create false premises for such purposes as:

  • execution of decorative niches;
  • visual alignment of uneven walls;
  • hiding household communications.

Also, due to their varieties, panels for brick walls can imitate irregularities or cracks in a real building material. They do not create a load on the foundation of the building and have a number of advantages that are strikingly different from other products for interior decoration.

Advantages of decorative brick tiles

One of the main advantages of decorative brick slabs is the variety of patterns imitating stone. Thanks to this, anyone can create in each room an individual interior to their liking, without the services of a specialized designer. It is also worth noting that natural brick for the exterior of the building and the interior has a high price and requires certain laying skills, which makes it difficult for an ordinary person to purchase it or independently create even walls with a beautiful finish.

Wall panels have an affordable price and a number of additional advantages for cladding rooms:

  1. Self-adhesive panels are easily attached to the surface of the walls, so all work on finishing the room can be done independently, without the services of a specialized master;
  2. Due to the convenient manufactured sizes of the material, the walls are finished with brick-like panels in a short time;
  3. Wall panels do not need additional restoration, initially they are produced with finishing;
  4. Due to the high performance of brickwork slabs, they can last more than 10 years.

In the event of defects in imitating products, it is possible to replace certain sections without destroying the entire area of the cladding. Perfectly flat wall surfaces are not required for the installation of self-adhesive products. They fit well without pre-work. Cutting the skin can be done with improvised means, which is quite convenient for working at home. In addition, brick wall panels for interior decoration are easy to clean - it is recommended to wipe them periodically with a damp cloth.

Important! Despite the great advantages, finishing products with imitation of building stone are easily deformed by high temperatures. Therefore, other than radiators, these brick products, especially those made of plastic materials, are not recommended to be placed near open flames, in places such as stoves or fireplaces.

Types of slabs for brick

Today, the consumer market offers a large selection of brick-like wall slabs, which have different textures, colors and sizes. These products are produced from soft and hard materials, which allows them to be used in rooms of different configurations.

So, for example, soft panels for interior work can emphasize individual elements and wall decorations in rooms with a large number of protruding corners. At the same time, due to the elasticity of the material, these panels gently bend around the corners, which visually reduces their protrusions.

Solid panels are glued only to a solid wall. But, despite such limitations, they are also a versatile material for improving interiors in rooms.

Consider the types of solid panels, in which the natural color is similar to the color of the brick.

fiberboard

The wood fiber panel is the most popular model for creating an imitation of brick in a room. This is due to the fact that such plates are very difficult to distinguish from natural stone. In addition, they blend well with chipboard grooved flooring, which allows you to create a uniform color scheme in the room. Also, fiberboard panels are considered one of the most durable and practical materials, which extends their service life. But when choosing fiberboard boards, it is worth considering that they are subject to deformation from high humidity, so they are not recommended for use in bathrooms and kitchens.

PVC

The brick-like PVC panel is also very difficult to distinguish from natural stone. Unlike MDF boards, these boards are highly resistant to aggressive environments, have good resistance to moisture and strength. Also, PVC panels are quite light in weight, which simplifies installation work. In addition, if MDF brick panels need periodic painting and varnishing, then PVC products are produced immediately in finished form. These products are used both in the decoration of the walls of the room, and in the decoration of its ceiling.

Important! Due to the hollow construction, PVC panels have high rates of heat and sound insulation. Also, the constituent polyvinyl chloride does not burn in air and is highly resistant to many solvents and alkalis.

Gypsum

Brick-like gypsum panels are available from classic red to dark brown, which is very similar to the color of natural stone. Due to this feature, gypsum slabs favorably emphasize the overall idea of the interior of the room. The advantages of this color scheme include the strength and moisture resistance of the material, which allows you to save the originally conceived design of the room for a long time. Also, gypsum brick panels do not deform from temperature changes and have high soundproofing properties.

Regardless of the material and manufacturing technology, panels for interior decoration are divided into the following varieties:

  • sheet plates;
  • rectangular type-setting panels;
  • rack boards.

The size of manufactured products can be varied, their appearance remains unchanged. All decorative wall panels have a similarity with building stone material of a rectangular shape or imitation of antique bricks.

Each consumer has his own individual preferences in which area of the room the imitation of brick will look better. But still, more rational options were identified by trial methods and recommendations from designers.

Here are the best tips to pay attention to when creating an individual building design:

  1. When creating a partition in small rooms, it is recommended to choose products in soft colors. This option will prevent rebooting the interior and create a beautiful design;
  2. Bright panels of color schemes for interior decoration of rooms will add an interesting accent to the rooms and will be able to visually highlight the desired areas;
  3. It is not recommended to glue the red brick panel in bedrooms, as their color has the ability to create emotional overexcitation. Such building boards are best used for decoration in nightclubs and restaurants;
  4. To create the decor of an old castle or a tavern in the rest rooms, it is recommended to use decorative panels on all walls. But it is worth considering that the appearance of such rooms will put pressure on the emotional state of a person;
  5. From stone-like cladding, you can create a finish on one wall in any room, but when choosing a color, it is better to give preference to non-aggressive tones;
  6. Wood-colored slabs will fit well in the office, creating a business style for the room. In addition, panels in the form of wood-like bricks can emphasize the good taste of the owner, which can leave a favorable impression of him with his customers;
  7. Light shades of brick will fit well in rooms where pastel colors prevail in the interior. They harmonize well with dark tones, creating comfort and coziness. But light masonry creates an imitation of cold, so it is not rational to glue them in bedrooms;
  8. Innovative 3d stone effect panels are considered the most interesting option in creating a unique style. With their use, you can improve the appearance of even old residential buildings. In addition, these stylized panels can emphasize individuality and create the effect of a real brick in an apartment.

As you can see, due to the variety of types, brick-like wall panels for interior decoration can be used with different room designs. With the right combination of the color palette with the interior, an imitation of building stone will be created in the best possible way. Thanks to the embossed or smooth surface, self-adhesive tiles can achieve individual consumer preferences. The ease of installation will allow you to stick products with your own hands, without the services of a specialist, where each decorative plate will lie flat on the surface of the walls.

Innovative finishing material for residential private houses and city apartments, as well as for entertainment premises from the inside, are slabs with imitation of brick aesthetics. This design is relevant in the interiors of the loft style, hi-tech, pop art, fusion of others. Let's talk further about the operational parameters of brick-like panels for interior wall decoration, which have been so popular in recent years.

Decorative brick wall panels are a universal finishing material for interior decoration of walls, piers, podiums, fireplaces, columns and so on. Such boards (PVC, MDF and others) have a large number of advantages that are appreciated by a large number of buyers. Let's talk about them in more detail:

  • long service life - a design of this kind, subject to proper installation, can last up to 15 years without losing its beauty and basic properties;
  • the ability to hide surface irregularities, communication systems, which is very valuable when finishing old buildings, as well as walls with significant level differences from the vertical;
  • light weight, small thickness, easy to cut with a clerical knife, which makes it possible to use this material for finishing not only concrete walls, but also plasterboard partitions. Such plates are characterized by a fairly easy installation and dismantling procedure if necessary;
  • high practicality, undemanding maintenance. Plates have an increased level of resistance to negative factors: increased levels of humidity, scratches, fungus, mold, dirt, dust;
  • diverse design, many color shades, interesting texture, do not require finishing coloring. All this allows the panels to be used in residential premises, living rooms, offices, cafes, bars and restaurants. They miraculously combine with other finishing materials, allowing you to bring notes of solemnity and respectability into the room.

The disadvantage of PVC brick panels for walls inside a dwelling is the risk of their deformation after installation. Such situations can occur if the wall had very impressive irregularities or defects (cracks, large dents), which it was not possible to eliminate before finishing. Also, damage to the coating is possible if the finish has been subjected to a significant mechanical impact (strong blow, scratch, and so on).

Types of brick panels for interior wall decoration

Today, manufacturers have significantly expanded the choice of brick-like panels, which are used for interior decoration of the wall surface of residential premises. There were plates of different textures, colors, sizes. This allows interior designers to bring to life the most original ideas, show imagination, as well as apply non-standard solutions and techniques for wall decoration.

Let's describe the most popular types of PVC panels with an imitation of the external aesthetics of a brick. According to the base material in the manufacturing process, there are:

  • PVC - for their manufacture, polyvinyl chloride is used in combination with special softeners. This is a safe, lightweight material, the installation of which is very easy to implement and is carried out on a special adhesive composition. Wall plates of this type are important to use for finishing walls, ceilings;
  • Brick MDF - are created on the basis of environmentally friendly and safe for human health wood chips, which provides the material with high performance parameters: sound and heat insulation properties, wear resistance, durability. Decorative MDF products are most relevant for use in residential areas.

MDF
PVC

You can also find panels made of chipboard, hardboard, gypsum, plywood. These are cheaper options, but the operational parameters of such products are somewhat inferior to PVC and MDF. For example, the aesthetics of some do not imitate the surface of a brick brightly enough, while other types are not resistant to moisture or mechanical stress.

According to the specifics of installation, they distinguish:

  • rack products are oblong boards of different widths, which have a groove on one side for inserting a subsequent plate;
  • stacked wall slabs for interior decoration of rectangular walls, which simplifies the process of selecting a pattern;
  • decorative sheet panels under a brick differ in the highest level of manufacturability.

According to the specifics of the surface, you can find:

  • flat facing material with imitation of modern brick;
  • embossed panels for the wall surface, imitating antique bricks.

Before acquiring a specific look, carefully study the manufacturer's recommendations for its installation, the clamps used for this purpose (adhesive composition, hardware, staples, and so on), as well as the current operating conditions of the coating. Then the finish will last much longer.

Which is better to choose

The choice of slabs for interior decoration of a wall surface is quite wide today, so it is quite difficult to instantly navigate the relevance of using one or another type. Many interior slabs have specific properties that limit the scope of a particular type.

Let's take an interest in the opinion of experienced specialists on this matter, and they state the following:

  • rack plates are relevant in small rooms, as they are mounted horizontally. Such an arrangement of plates visually allows you to achieve the effect of expanding a narrow space. At the same time, inlaid wall slabs have a square shape, so they are relevant in the case when you want to reproduce the original geometric pattern on the basis. The sheet view of such material is quite large in scale, so it is used in the case of a spacious room and base without ledges and niches;
  • MDF products for decorating bathrooms, saunas or terraces with a pool are not suitable, since wood is the basis for the manufacture of such material. The plate will simply dry out under the influence of an increased level of moisture. Does not tolerate MDF and prolonged exposure to sunlight, as a result of which the surface with such a finish may brighten over time. Plastic plates for decorating the wall surface of a living space from the inside are more practical and resistant to moisture, so they can be used in kitchens and bathrooms;
  • speaking about a specific manufacturer, we note the following: it is worth giving preference to trusted brands that accompany their products with quality certificates. This is an additional guarantee of high performance finishes.

Dimensions

To decorate residential interiors today, you can choose panels of different sizes with an imitation of brick aesthetics. Larger options work faster. In addition, when using such products, you can get fewer joints, because they allow you to cover a large area of \u200b\u200bthe base in one. As a result, the interior design is more concise and attractive.

Plate type Width, mm Height, mm Thickness, mm Cost, rub

For spacious rooms, slabs of large size and any color will be more relevant, for narrow rooms - a small scale of lighter colors. This will achieve a visual correction of space.

Note that if necessary, plates of a similar nature for decorating living rooms from the inside can be cut into smaller parts with a clerical knife. For example, when designing columns, decorating decorative fireplaces, niches, and so on.

Care rules

Decorative wall panels for interior work allow you to quickly and without additional difficulties decorate the wall surface of a living room in an attractive way. But if the homeowner wants to maximize the life of the interior with such a design, it will be necessary to provide the walls with topical care. It must be carried out according to certain rules:

  • removal of dust and dirt from the surface of PVC boards with imitation of the aesthetics of bricks should be carried out exclusively with a damp cloth of soft texture, slightly moistened with soapy water;
  • it is strictly forbidden to use aggressive cleaning agents, especially in the form of a powder, in relation to such a finish. Such products may leave scratches on the surface or cause the plate to lose its original color;
  • if one panel is damaged, it can be easily dismantled and replaced with a new one. However, this must be done carefully, without haste.

Subject to these rules, the slabs for facing wall surfaces from the inside of the house will last as long as possible.

Interior design options with brick panels.

An unplastered brick wall today looks fashionable and stylish. It is expressive in the interiors in the style of "loft", "country", "gothic". Creates an atmosphere of English respectability or the Romanesque Middle Ages.

It is possible to complete the design in the desired style using panels for interior wall decoration under brick. They realistically recreate the texture and texture of the material, can act as the main background or individual accents in the interior.

Advantages of decorative brick panels

Elements imitating brickwork are made from materials:

  • polyvinyl chloride - PVC;
  • fine fraction - MDF;
  • tree;
  • ceramics;
  • concrete;
  • fiber cement;
  • polymers;
  • clinker.

Embossed expressive surface is combined with performance characteristics:

  • durability - for some types of products, the manufacturer gives a guarantee of more than 30 years;
  • resistance to temperature changes;
  • resistance to corrosion, biological impact;
  • fire resistance;
  • moisture resistance;
  • additional sound and heat insulation;
  • environmental friendliness;
  • resistance to UV rays;
  • ease of installation;
  • carelessness.

The most popular panels are PVC and MDF. Their distinctive qualities:

  • light weight;
  • financial accessibility;
  • flexibility.

The design of the decorative material allows it to be used for finishing walls and ceilings.

By imitation of a brick, you can disguise communications, surface defects. During repair work, one or more damaged elements are replaced without dismantling the entire array.

Brick PVC panels

They are produced by extruding polymers, the volumetric texture is given by special molds.

Final finishing - painting with stable dyes or pasting with a film - lamination.

The dimensions of the elements vary:

  • width - 0.1-0.6 m;
  • length - 0.6-3 m;
  • thickness - 20-25 mm.

Produced in the form of sheets, rails or plates. Components are selected for the main format. The color, texture and texture range is very wide.

The disadvantage of plastic structures is the tendency to deformation from mechanical influences or heating above 120 °.

Brick-like MDF panels

The raw material for the production of MDF panels is wood shavings. At high temperatures, it is processed in press plants. The liberated lignin firmly binds fine fractions into a monolith.

Phenols and formaldehydes are not used in the production, so the products have high environmental safety.

Decorative finishing - lamination with films in one or several layers, which gives the plates increased wear resistance.

Product sizes vary:

  • rack - 150-325x2400-3700x6-14 mm;
  • tiled - 300-900x300-900x8-14 mm;
  • sheet - 1220x2440x3-6 mm.

Compared to PVC panels, they have more weight and strength. Moisture-resistant and antiseptic impregnations give the material additional properties that expand the scope of boards made from natural raw materials.

Brick cladding panels for interior decoration

For interior walls and ceilings, PVC and MDF panels are used for brickwork, which meet the basic requirements for residential premises - safety and practicality.

Moisture resistance is a necessary characteristic for operation in places with high humidity - bathrooms, kitchens. However, close open flames should be avoided, as PVC products melt easily, and the decorative coating is destroyed.

The panels are well washed with synthetic and disinfectants. Resistant to mechanical abrasion.

Facade panels for exterior decoration

Plastic brick panels are operated in a larger range of temperatures and environmental influences. They are subject to higher requirements for strength, light and heat resistance.

Modern materials are developed for the temperature range from -60 to +50. The minimum service life is 30 years. They do not delaminate, do not fade from UV rays.

Their thickness is from 17 to 34 mm, i.e. significantly more than the similar characteristics of panels for interior decoration. This allows them to be used as a full-fledged barrier to protect walls from the adverse effects of aggressive external factors - snow, rain, frost, solar radiation.

Facade thermal panels under the brick have an additional layer of thermal insulation and retain heat well in the room.

Interior decoration with decorative brick-like panels

"Brick" panels are used for facing window slopes, creating niches, masking communications and defects.

A variety of color shades with proper design can visually expand small rooms, focus on interior details.
Finishing "under the brick" is quite active.

For its harmonious perception in small rooms, it is advisable to allocate limited areas or the surface of one wall.

Large spaces are not afraid of "brick" design. Effective experiments with different textures and colors.

Exterior decoration of buildings imitating brickwork

The walls, finished with facade panels, outwardly differ little from those made of brick. But compared to masonry, finishing materials weigh less and do not additionally load the foundation.

The variety of colors and textures allows you to design buildings in various styles.

Brick-like wall paneling is often combined with facade insulation.

Mounting methods

Wall cladding elements are mounted:

  • directly on the prepared surface by gluing;
  • on the crate using fasteners - nails, self-tapping screws, clamps.

The first method is used for interior and exterior decoration on even walls without defects. Use liquid nails or special glue. Even a home master can do the cladding, the work does not require special skills and tools.

Mounting on the frame is more often used in the exterior cladding of buildings. It, as mentioned above, is combined with additional wall insulation.
It is advisable to install panels along the crate indoors if the surfaces are significantly curved. You can fix the elements to the frame with glue or self-tapping screws.

Work procedure

Laying is carried out at a temperature above 10 °. Thermal insulation must be performed before starting work.

  1. Prepare the surface for the installation of products - plaster irregularities, cracks, chips, remove mortar sagging, putty.
  2. If the wall deviates from the vertical or the defects are significant, they arrange a crate in increments of 35-40 cm from aluminum profiles or wooden slats.
  3. Installation begins with the installation of the starting bar and corner elements.
  4. Ordinary elements rest on the guide bar. Glue is applied to the center of the panel and around the perimeter, with little effort pressed against the wall. When mounting on a crate, self-tapping screws are used, which are screwed into perforated mounting strips along the upper edge of the parts.
  5. Subsequent rows are fastened using a groove-comb system, each part is firmly fixed to the wall or crate. If the part is longer than the required size, it is cut with a sharp tool and joined to another element or opening.
  6. The last row is completed with a finishing bar.

Imitation brick for interior decoration is a modern, practical and affordable alternative to brickwork. The material is durable and undemanding in care. Facing is easy to do on your own, which means it's cheap.

Brick is one of the most traditional building materials for our country. Therefore, such an element of decoration as brickwork is widely used for decorating the walls of rooms. Designers have long appreciated the wide creative possibilities of brick wall decoration: a variety of shapes and colors of such decor help to create a very interesting and original interior.

Naturally, such ideas are implemented in different ways, taking into account all the possibilities of the owner, as well as the features of the decorated room.

Brick wall decor options

Instead of real brick for interior decoration in modern decor, other materials are often used, the structure of which strongly resembles a brick surface in appearance.

Brick walls can be finished using materials and technologies such as:

  • building panels;
  • clinker tiles;
  • brick wallpaper;
  • painting.

The advantage of such materials over real brickwork is that they are much lighter than brick and take up much less volume.

What kind of decor is better to choose to reproduce a brick wall? Let's take a closer look at the most popular brick wall finishes. Knowing the features of each of them, you can easily create a unique wall decor at home.

1. Construction panels under the brick

Building panels are a real leader among the "bricks", famous for their strength and water resistance. This finishing material has long conquered the market for exterior decoration, and now it has found its application in interior spaces.

Such imitation panels are made of plastic. And this means that they are not afraid of dust, moisture, or mold with rust. In addition, such brick panels are highly resistant to alkalis and acids, they are not at all afraid of hot fat droplets, so they are often used in the kitchen.

Advantages:

  • ease of fastening;
  • light weight;
  • perfect appearance;
  • minimum prices.

Disadvantages:

  • Some panels require an additional crate, so this design takes up a certain part of the usable space.

Brick panels are mounted both horizontally and vertically, so the pattern on them depends on the location method. They are mounted on nails, screws or self-tapping screws. Most of these are mounted directly on the wall.

In decorative brick-like panels, each element has its own independent fixation, so an accidentally damaged part of the “bricks” can be replaced in half an hour.

Important: Brick effect panels are the perfect decor option for a balcony, kitchen backsplash or crowded hallway.

2. Brick tile

An excellent alternative to brick for wall cladding is clinker tiles. This is an inexpensive and very beautiful analogue made from raw clay. According to its characteristics, the method of laying and the thickness of the tile under the brick is no different from a simple tile.

4. Decorative brick-like plaster

Imitation of stone brickwork made of plaster looks very impressive and unusual. In addition, it is very easy to do it yourself.

Advantages:

  • variety of textures and colors;
  • ease of application;
  • excellent heater;
  • environmentally friendly material;
  • durable and virtually maintenance free.

Disadvantages:

  • can take up useful space;
  • low resistance to pollution (attract dust);
  • the surface must be very flat. There should be no noticeable scratches, bumps and depressions.

Decorative plaster under a brick make out:

  • one wall in the room;
  • niche or;
  • "bricks" arbitrarily located on a flat painted wall.

Important: This type of imitation is very popular with creative people, as it provides great opportunities for the flight of fancy.

5. Brick painting

A great way to decorate brick walls is painting. The color for the bricks is selected depending on the style of the room, your mood and individual taste.

Modern interior solutions that use such a "brick wall" most often belong to one of two styles:

  1. Calm and cozy Country requires soft pastel shades of "brickwork";
  2. “Brickwork” in the Loft style can be done eccentrically and with a special twist with the help of painting.

A great option for "brick" is elastomeric paint. It fills all the cracks formed due to the shrinkage of the walls, protects the surface from moisture and strengthens it. Acrylic and water-based paints are perfect for bright and colorful decoration. They are applied with brushes of different thicknesses, and if you want to create an additional dust-repellent or water-repellent coating, you can take a wide roller of fur.

Disadvantages:
  • poor resistance to mechanical damage;
  • cracks over time;
  • not suitable for uneven walls;
  • the color in the jar and on the wall can be very different in shade.

Advice: to add realism to a drawing made under a brick, you can subtract or add a few millimeters from each brick.
