How to sew a pillow for the car with your own hands. Travel pillow with your own hands. Preparing to sew a dog

For work you will need:

Sintepon, fabric of two colors. Any fabric you like will do, you can even take faux fur with a short pile for the main part and satin for the eyes and ears. The same can be combined with velveteen with dense knitwear. It is most convenient to use fleece, it is very easy to work with and if you cut out small details, it does not fray around the edges, without requiring additional processing.

We draw the details arbitrarily, starting from the fact that the inner radius should be at least 11 cm, the ears should be 1/3 of the total volume of the body and the eyes should also not be small, approximately 7 and 5 cm in height if the eyes are different (Fig. 1).

We cut out the torso 2 parts, ears 4 parts, 2 of each color, eyes 1 part and pupils 2 small parts (Fig. 2).
- when cutting out the main part of the body, it is necessary to make a control chalk mark or make a shallow cut with scissors, somewhere in the area of \u200b\u200bthe eyes (Fig. 3).
- we sew the ears, connecting two different colors with the front side inward, do not build up the place of sewing, turn it through it (Fig. 4).

We sew the pupils to the eyes (Fig. 5), if you are working with fleece or knitted fabric, it is better to pin the pupils with pins or put them on a cobweb, as the fabric stretches and may warp.
- we put the finished eyes on the main part under the control point, sew on without sewing up to the end, stuff with padding polyester, only for volume, evenly distributing with tweezers (Fig. 6).
- we put the details of the ears on the main part, deviating from the control cut by 2 cm in each direction (Fig. 7).
- we connect the two parts of the body with the front sides inward, it is better to twist the ears inside the parts and stab them with pins so that they do not fall into the seam, we collect in a circle, leaving room for eversion
- turn inside out and stuff with padding polyester (Fig. 8) sew up.

On the trunk, draw three lines with thin soap to indicate the folds (Fig. 9)
- to make a fold, we insert the needle through the seam of the connection of the trunk on one side, bring it to the intended line and pull it, bring the needle to the opposite seam, fix it, slightly tightening it so that the stitches slip through the trunk (Fig. 10).

It was the final touch. It turns out a very nice and comfortable neck pillow or just a fun toy.

Pillows-toys, pillows-travelers under the head

Very often, on long journeys by car, many of us fall asleep to make your head comfortable, sew such a comfortable pillow.

Necessary tools and materials:

1) The fabric is soft (like fleece), the fabric is dense (cotton) - cm 35.

2) Filler (holofiber, synthetic winterizer, etc.).

3) Threads, scissors, paper.

Work:

We make a pattern according to the drawing. Cut out 2 pieces from both fabrics. We sew the parts in pairs, leaving room for laying the filler. We turn the pillows inside out, fill the cotton pillow with filler, sew it up, insert this pillow into the fleece, sew it up. The pillow is ready, sweet dreams.

A travel pillow is one of the most essential travel essentials. Once you try it and forget it the next time, you will suffer on the bus. I am not kidding! It is checked up on own bitter experience. So, if you have a long trip or flight ahead of you, be sure to sew one travel pillow for yourself and your loved ones.

The Internet is full of patterns for such pillows, and you can download for yourself any animal from a caterpillar to a dragon. Feel free to type “travel pillow” into the search engine and choose your option, and in the meantime I will tell you about the pitfalls when sewing this wonderful little thing.

I needed two pillows, one of which was asked to be made a giraffe, and the second I sewed for myself and wanted a cat. Since this happened just two days before the trip, my giraffe is without stripes:

The cat was remade from a dog pattern. The dog seemed very sad to me.

I want to immediately note that the patterns are different:

- a giraffe has an inner diameter of 9 cm;

- the cat has 15.

And then by trial and error, you need to choose the ideal option for you. Of course, the smaller diameter is more suitable for children, although it seemed to me more convenient than the high and wide sides of the cat.

From a natural and pleasant to the touch fabric, we cut out the details:

- 2 children body;

- 8 children. paws;

- 2 children tail;

- 2 children ears of the same color and 2 children. ears of a different color. Be sure to mark the bottom of the ear;

- 2 children eye;

- 1 child. nose.

We put the nose and eyes on the head of the product, we look at what it will look like. You can mark places with chalk or trim details if you don't like their look.

We start by sewing paired parts, for example, from the ears.

I fasten two parts of different colors in the center with a pin and sew the two sides. We take out the pin, turn the ear inside out and sew the bottom.

The ears of the cat are bent and we give them a shape by bending one edge a little short of the middle and sewing it together.

Then comes the turn of the tail. We fold the two parts face to face, if necessary, fasten with pins and sew according to the markup.

We cut all sections at the seam turns so that when the tail is turned out, it takes on a more beautiful shape.

We turn out, sew the bottom.

We do the same with the paws. The result should be four paws (unexpectedly))).

Do not forget to notch on the bends of the seam.

Remembering that the cat has fingers, we make a zigzag marking, showing those same fingers. If you have time and desire, you can add pink bunches to the cat.

On the Internet there are patterns with short legs and with long ones. I recommend giving preference to long paws. With their help, you can tie the pillow to your bag/backpack/belt. Do not count on the fact that the pillow will fit into the bag - it is quite voluminous.

Let's move on to the body.

We sew on the spout, it is unforgettable to fill it with some kind of fibrous stuffing such as syntapon.

We select the thread to match the color of the fabric and process the edges of the nose with a zig-zag stitch. First, it is better to practice on a piece of fabric, especially if you take knitwear for the product. I have a machine that does not like knitwear, so it is very difficult to catch the stitch density on a stretchy fabric.

Then sew on the eyes. Just like the nose, we process them with a zigzag, this time picking up black threads to make the eyes expressive.

I zig-zag the upper eyelid twice because the stitching made large gaps.

We embroider a mouth.

In fact, it's better to practice on a piece that you don't mind and then expertly approach the face of your travel pillow.

In the next photo, the places for sewing on the ears, paws, tail, as well as the place that I will not sew up, leaving a pocket for filling, are marked with chalk.

I looked at this markup, put my paws on and realized that they would be inside my pillow. I know from my own experience that the less details touch your neck and face on the road and the less seams and protrusions there, the better. Therefore, the markings of the paws were transferred to the outside, and the tail to the inside.

We make cuts in the marking places, insert the part and sew them so that all the edges are inside the product.

When you sew on the ears, there will be bends on the cat's head - this is normal.

When all legs-tails-ears are sewn, we sew two large parts, remember about the pocket for stuffing.

As a stuffing we use our favorite filler in the form of balls. Yes, synthetics, but unlike syntapon, it does not stray in one place in a large piece. If you can get some hypoallergenic pillow filler, even better.

When I finished sewing the cat, I got an axolotl. It remains only to draw a couple of lines in the eyes.

This miracle beast did a great job on the bus, on the train, and even at home as a back pillow. It's worth every minute spent on it.

Healthy sleep, as you know, is the key to good health and mood. Do-it-yourself orthopedic pillow will be an excellent solution for those who have problems with the spine and even absolutely healthy people who want to improve the quality of sleep.

How to choose the shape and size of the pillow

An orthopedic pillow for cervical osteochondrosis is an indispensable attribute that will help reduce the intensity of the manifestations of the disease and ensure effective prevention of its exacerbations. If you are not yet ready to purchase a finished product from well-known manufacturers, It's not hard at all to make your own.

Before you start sewing, you should pay attention to several important nuances:

  • to correctly determine the height of the product, you need to measure the exact distance from the shoulder joint to the neck;
  • if you prefer to sleep on your back, you should choose a pillow that is low and hard;
  • for sleeping on the stomach, low soft products are most comfortable;
  • the pillow should be the lower, the denser and harder the mattress.

Ideally, do-it-yourself orthopedic pillow should be sewn from natural, safe materials. This applies to both the cover of the product and its filler. The bolsters should be made appropriate in size, such that the anatomically correct position of the cervical region is ensured.

Necessary materials

Sewing an orthopedic pillow with your own hands is not difficult at all, even in the absence of professional sewing skills. We recommend making a double-sided product, which will have a larger roller on one side and a smaller one on the other. Such a model will turn out to be universal and can be used by people of different ages and physiques.

For work you will need:

  • pattern - it is made on paper according to the template. We will need a template for each side of the pillow. If you show imagination and experiment with materials of various colors, you can make a rather original model;
  • two cuts of natural, preferably cotton fabric 50x50 cm in size for a removable pillowcase;
  • two cuts of synthetic material for the pillow itself. For its tailoring, it is desirable to choose a fabric with water-repellent properties;
  • filler - holofiber or other material. It is worth noting that today buckwheat husk is becoming increasingly popular in the manufacture of orthopedic products;
  • zipper 25 cm;
  • tape 30 cm;
  • tailor's scissors, thread;
  • sewing machine.

To determine the style of the product, you can look at the finished models on the Internet and stores. It is even better to test the pillows in one of the stores in order to understand which form will be most comfortable for you.

Tailoring

So, having chosen the style of the future pillow and having made a pattern, you can proceed directly to sewing:

  • transfer the pattern to the fabric;
  • when cutting out material, do not forget to leave allowances for seams;
  • make notches at the junctions of the parts, attach them face to face and sew, leaving space on both sides for stuffing a large and small roller. Ribbon and zipper can be sewn into the seam for convenience;
  • now the structure must be screwed in and filled with the selected filler, the remaining hole should be sewn up.

The finished pillow will be a great addition to a do-it-yourself mattress.

Important! If you feel unwell after sleeping on a pillow, it may be worth adjusting the volume of the filler or replacing it with another one.

How to make a travel neck pillow

Long journeys are often very tiring and even exhausting. You can’t really fall asleep on the road, and if you do, then most likely after waking up you will feel weak, pain in your neck. In such situations, the use of special anatomical pillows helps.

If you travel frequently, it is very convenient to use a horseshoe-shaped orthopedic neck pillow in the car and on the plane. Making it yourself is even easier than a pillow for sleeping. To do this, choose a natural fabric of any color and filler. Most often, holofiber or foam rubber is used.

We carefully transfer the paper pattern to the fabric folded in half, cut it out with seam allowances, sew the edges, leave a hole through which the product can be turned inside out and stuffed. At the end of the work, we sew up the hole. The travel pillow is ready.

A custom-made orthopedic pillow will last as long as possible if properly cared for. The product can be washed only with gentle means at the optimum temperature - 30 degrees. A removable pillowcase will protect it from premature wear and dirt. If buckwheat husk was used as a filler, the pillow cannot be washed.

A self-sewn pillow, with proper use, will not yield to salon products in terms of its orthopedic properties, but it will cost much less.

Making a template

In this master class, we will make a pillow about 27 cm long and 15 cm wide. But you can sew the pillow in the size that you need by changing the template parameters accordingly. Cut out a horseshoe-shaped template from paper, just make all the corners curved. We decided to make the middle narrower. The size of our pillow is 27 centimeters high and 15 centimeters wide. This is the most suitable size for all people of all ages. You may want to scale up or down for a specific occasion. Don't forget allowances.

Cut out the details

Transfer the template to the fabric and cut out 4 pieces. We used soft fleece.

We sew

Sew these pieces together from the wrong side. Be sure to leave a small hole in length to turn right side out.

Filling with filler

Turn the workpiece inside out and stuff with pillow filler, carefully sew the hole left by hand.

This is how we got a wonderful travel pillow with our own hands. Some visionaries based on this technique sew travel pillows in the form of all sorts of funny animals. Try it too! You won't need too much effort and time. Decide what it should be and how to decorate it. Stock up on the desire and desire to make the pillow unique. Take care of all the necessary tools and materials. And remember that handmade pillows have a special warmth that you have invested in them, and recreate and multiply it even more.

Today we will tell you how to make a pillow under your neck with your own hands.

Pillows are an integral part of the interior of each room. They play a role not only for direct purpose, but also decorative. The shapes and sizes of pillows are diverse and functional.

And this little pillow as soon as they don’t call it! And a pillow-roll under the neck, and a car pillow, and an orthopedic pillow ...

In any case - it has only one function - such a little thing helps to carry our "load" on our shoulders. Namely, to keep your head up when there are no suitable conditions for this.

For example, during a long trip in a car, plane, bus, such an orthopedic product will help you sleep peacefully. After all, you see, it’s uncomfortable when your head falls on the shoulder of a neighbor?

In order for sleep to be healthy, and dreams to be the most pleasant, you need to sleep on a special pillow that allows your neck to rest. We give a pattern of such a pillow in our article.

Learning to make a pillow pattern for the neck

For clarity, imagine the letter "P" or half a lifebuoy. This pillow is not difficult to make. Therefore, you should not spend money in expensive stores, but it is better to take up threads with a needle.

To sew such a pillow, no special skills are required. It is necessary to cut two halves of the pillow, back and front. It can be a model with corners, that is, an imaginary letter "p" or a rounded shape.

Sizes depend on the age of the person. That is, for children it is less than for adults. To do this, measure the distance between the shoulders and the height of the head. The pillow should be longer than the head.

A synthetic winterizer can serve as a filler, which perfectly fills the space. If this pillow is made for a child, then the pillowcase can be made very original.

It can be made in the form of a dachshund, which is rolled up. You can make stripes like a rainbow. If you sew on a head with ears and a trunk, you get an elephant. You need to show imagination and the child will not exchange such a pillow even for candy.

The pattern may be completely different. This is a toy pillow. In shape, it resembles a rectangle. Therefore, there will be no problems with the pattern. And then it's just magic. Details are sewn to the pillow on both sides, and it turns into a toy.

You can sew on the head and paws of a cat, dog, sheep and everything that comes to mind. In this case, the pillow can be folded along or across, fixed with Velcro. This pillow is perfect for the road.

To be comfortable on the road

And here is a step-by-step instruction for making a car donut pillow:

The pillow is about thirty centimeters long (from top to bottom) and thirty-three centimeters wide. But, as already mentioned, you can sew a pillow in the size you need, respectively, by changing the pattern parameters.

For our pillow, we will also sew a removable cover with a zipper so that it can be removed and washed, if necessary.

For the manufacture you will need the following materials:

Two pieces of cotton fabric for a removable cover half a meter long and wide;

Two pieces of synthetic fabric for the pillow itself (it is better to take a water-repellent fabric) half a meter long and half a meter wide;

Synthetic pillow filler, for example, holofiber;

Ribbon thirteen centimeters long;

Lightning 25 centimeters long;

Threads of suitable colors;

tailor pins;

Sewing machine.

Step 1 - Make a pattern. On paper, draw a semicircular pillow.

Step 2 - Transfer the pattern to the synthetic fabric. Pin both pieces of fabric right side in, pin them with tailor pins and baste around the perimeter of the pattern. Cut out the pattern from the fabric, leaving a seam allowance of 1 - 1.5 centimeters.

Step 3 - Sew your pillow around the perimeter, leaving about five centimeters unstitched at the bottom.

Step 4 - Turn your pillow inside out and place the filler inside. Sew the remaining unstitched seam by hand.

Step 5. - We sew a "pillowcase". Measure 13 centimeters from the top of one of the pieces of fabric. Cut lengthwise. Insert a zipper.

Step 6. - Pin together two pieces of cotton fabric with the right side inward. Attach the pattern so that the zipper is at the top of the pillow, cut out, leaving 1-1.5 centimeters for the seam. Sew a ribbon on top, for which the pillow can then be hung.

Step 7 - Machine stitch the cover, turn it inside out, unzip and place the pillow inside the cover.
