1 medium size box;
3 small elongated boxes;
glue gun or regular PVA glue;
a piece of cardboard for the mantelpiece;
a piece of wallpaper with brickwork or self-adhesive oilcloth;
white water-based paint;
decor (spruce branches, garlands, candles);
scissors and pencil.

We present step-by-step instructions for manufacturing:

Glue all the doors at the bottom of the box. On the front side, we bend one long sash (it will serve as a protruding base for the fireplace), and glue the other to two short sashes.

We apply small boxes around the perimeter of the resulting window and make markings with a pencil.

According to the markup, we expand the window, cutting off excess cardboard with scissors. Then glue the boxes.

An easy way to make a homemade fireplace out of two old boxes.

You will need:

2 large boxes of the same size;
stationery tape;
knife and scissors;
a sheet of cardboard;
gray wrapping paper;
brick color paint;
sponge for applying paint;
decor for decoration and imitation of fire in the furnace.

And now the whole process step by step:

We take two old boxes and connect them to make a large box. Carefully glue all joints and seams with tape.

From cardboard we make a cornice for the fireplace.

We cut out an arch in the box (it is better to first make the necessary markings). We wrap the box and cornice with wrapping paper. We cut out a window in the place of the arch and glue the edges of the paper.

We glue the cornice with adhesive tape.

We paint over the inner walls of the fireplace with black paint in a spray can (this is done on the street). We dilute the paint of the desired shade for applying bricks. Using a sponge, apply bricks to the surface and leave to dry.

Cut out triangular bases with rounding. It will take 4 blanks to create a solid structure. Glue a border of pieces of cardboard to one of the blanks. Inside the resulting box we create stiffeners.

We close the structure with the second blank and get a solid foundation for the fireplace. Do the same for the top.

For reliability, we fix the joints with masking tape. Glue the resulting parts to the side panels.

We install a panel inside the fireplace to close the corner. We install planks from the sides and form a wide “wall” with stiffeners. We cover the finished structure with a primer and white paint.

From cardboard we cut blanks for decorating the fireplace inside and out. We make elements for interior design wider and shorter and paint them pink. It is better to make elements on the exterior design narrower and more authentic, they are painted red, creating a contrast. We glue the fireplace with blanks inside and out.

We proceed to the manufacture of a chimney with stiffeners. On the front side we glue a solid sheet of cardboard. We paint the chimney with white paint and create an imitation of wood.

We fix the chimney and decorate with New Year's decor.

How to do

To make a decorative fireplace yourself, you will need some drywall skills, the ability and desire to create, and, of course, a tool.

Initially, you need to make drawings. First, draw a diagram of the location of the future fireplace, or even several, and then draw a fireplace in two projections, apply all the necessary dimensions. It is better to carry out the drawing in full size, so that it is easy to try on the wall. We develop a sketch to the smallest detail, so that later you do not have to redo anything.

Based on the drawing, we make a model of the future fireplace from cardboard boxes or foam. It is necessary to create all the details of the fireplace, and install them on adhesive tape where you plan to place this decor element. Execute the layout carefully, completely in accordance with the project, in order to analyze errors in advance and eliminate them.

We turn to the construction of the structure. During construction we will need:

Bulgarian;
perforator;
screwdriver;
cutter;
putty knife;
stationery knife;
metal scissors;
roulette;
building level;
pencil.

Initially, we transfer all the details of the future fireplace to sheets of drywall, and cut it out with a grinder. We mark all parts of the fireplace on the wall, use the building level to maintain a clear horizontal and vertical line. We install guides on the wall where it is planned to place a false fireplace. We do this with a puncher and dowels.

If you do not plan to install a false chimney and are thinking of organizing a shelf for photographs and figurines at the top, then you must immediately strengthen the side racks for structural reliability. Lead the cable with electricity into the structure so that you can then insert and connect an electric fireplace or LCD TV into the portal. You can assemble the frame separately, and only then install it on the wall. This option is more convenient if your fireplace is located near a wall.

Now we sheathe the frame with drywall. We do everything carefully, remembering that a deviation of a few millimeters can distort the whole picture and will not make it possible to fill the portal in the future. If the lining of the false fireplace is supposed to be massive and heavy, then it is necessary to sheathe the future fireplace with two layers of drywall. For lining the fireplace, drywall sheets with a thickness of at least 1.2 cm are suitable.

Next, we move on to putty. Why is it necessary to process the edges of the drywall with an abrasive, prime and putty the fireplace completely. We produce putty inside and outside. We use tape and perforated corners to connect the sheets to each other so that the grout holds well and the surface becomes perfectly flat.

The next step is finishing the false fireplace. You can decorate it with any material. Tiles, artificial stone, gypsum finishes, granite, marble, just painting and much more are suitable here. It all depends on your imagination and the stylistic decision of the room as a whole.

But initially you need to finish the inside of the decorative fireplace, especially if a heat appliance will be installed in it. Thermal insulation in this case is necessary. We trim the portal with magnesite and cover it with foil on top. Such a layer will reflect heat and will not allow the inner walls of the fireplace to heat up.

If a heater is not provided in a false fireplace, then inside it can be trimmed with a mirror.

If the fireplace is finished with artificial stone or marble, then finishing work in the form of putty can be omitted. In this case, you just need to prime the drywall, and then glue the stone with special glue. We give the glue to dry well and process all the seams between the stone with a special grout.

Another great way to finish a drywall fireplace is with decorative plaster. We apply it to the fireplace, and, without waiting for the coating to dry, we imitate brickwork with a spatula.

You can paste over with a decorative film, choosing a suitable pattern. A huge selection of textures will make your fireplace unique.

After finishing the fireplace, it is necessary to decorate it. To do this, we use various columns, stucco, moldings. Such decor will give an artificial fireplace naturalness and completeness.

You can install a decorative shelf on the top of the fireplace, install an electric fireplace or a TV in the firebox.
