This function provides protection in case of overheating, lack of water in the heating circuit, presence of air in the heating system, blocking the pump.

If the boiler has already been turned on: The principle is the same, except that the appliance is turned on at about 60% of the maximum power and the temperature is increased by 2K instead of 5K.

After the ignition phase, the regulator controls the burner during heating of the heating circuit (initial phase - reduction to Pmin to analyze the temperature change) or hot water (power is adjusted according to the current need).

Heat carrier temperature control

The boiler temperature is set directly in the user menu on the control panel of the Proterm Gepard double-circuit boiler.

The NTC sensor allows you to constantly monitor the temperature in the boiler and subsequently control the temperature of the coolant in the primary circuit.

The request for heating the boiler occurs at the moment when the temperature in it drops below the set temperature by 5 degrees, the control panel switches to the DHW position and the boiler pump is turned on.

Boiler heating stops when the NTC sensor detects the set water temperature in the boiler. The pump runs for 30 seconds (3-way valve still in the hot water position) and then stops.

Boiler heating control, when the boiler is equipped with an LTC sensor, is carried out by means of self-change: the sensor measures the temperature 5 minutes after the burner is switched off.

If the set point has been exceeded, a correction is applied to subsequent heating (the burner will switch off at a lower temperature to prevent this overtemperature from occurring again).

The heating medium temperature is calculated depending on the set DHW temperature. The heating medium temperature is always 15 K higher than the set DHW temperature.

Heating control during water dispensing (only for double-circuit devices)

Definition of requirements: The burner is switched on at a flow rate of 1.5 l/min. Switches off at 1.1 l/min. This hysteresis is a protection against periodic switching on/off of the burner.

Temperature control: The hot water temperature is controlled by setting the target temperature on the machine's supply line. This calculation depends on the flow dynamics of running water and its set temperature.

The calculated flow temperature of the primary circuit will be adjusted according to the return temperature sensor (NTC 5) to take into account the influence of the cold water inlet temperature.

Hot start function - Comfort (only for two-circuit models)

The hot start function is designed to maintain the temperature in the primary circuit of the boiler to improve comfort when using domestic hot water:

Reduced waiting time at the hot water tap;
- water conservation.

This function is implemented only on Protherm Gepard 23 mtv / 23 mov, 11 mtv and is relevant for small distances from the heat generator to the draw-off point.

Economy mode in relation to gas consumption - the "hot start" function is disabled (factory setting).

Principle of operation:

The burner switches on when the temperature in the primary circuit falls 30 K below the set DHW temperature.

The burner switches off when the temperature reaches a difference of 10 K below the set DHW temperature.

The ECO symbol will appear on the display when the set DHW temperature is below 50C.

Frost protection

Frost protection will work if the coolant temperature is below 12C.

The pump will turn on for 10 minutes, the priority valve will switch to the middle position (The heated coolant will flow simultaneously to the heating circuit and to the circuit of the plate heat exchanger):

If the temperature is below 7C, the burner will light up and the coolant will heat up to 35°C.

If the coolant temperature is in the range from 7 to 15C, the burner will turn on after 30 minutes and heat the coolant up to 35C.

At a coolant temperature above 15C, only the pump will work, which will turn off after a 30-minute overrun.

Overheat protection and temperature limits

NTC sensors on the flow/return line protect the boiler from overheating by checking the maximum outlet temperature (97C when the burner is on or a rapid rise in temperature above 110C within 3 seconds).

Additional conditions associated with the flow of coolant in the heating system:

Temperature rise rate control (maximum temperature rise dynamics = 10K/sec.)
- control of the temperature difference between supply and return:

If T is greater than 30K - the burner operates with min. power for 10 minutes

If T is greater than 35K, error F23 will appear on the display.

If the error repeats 5 times, the boiler will switch off with the final definition of error F23, after which a "reset" will be required.

If the burner has been running for at least 60 seconds, the counter is reset to zero.
