I've been working at the same job for a year. What problems await those who have worked in one place for many years and have no experience in finding a job at all? Inept formation of bushes

The debate about whether it is possible to grow this crown "snack" culture in the same beds for several years in a row does not subside, and it is unlikely, to tell the truth, will subside. And all because every disputant has something to present to his opponent.

And this latest progress report is no exception.

Garden embarrassment

Without undue modesty, I will say that my experience as a gardener is 44 years. And like any working farmer, I have my favorites among the inhabitants of the beds - these are cucumbers. I was born and raised in the village, and there we grew them, as they say, in bulk, salted huge barrels. Cucumbers grew on richly manured long beds (the earth was brought from the forest and for some reason called spring).

I also remember that before the war two Chinese families lived in our village. What kind of apple orchards they grew! In gardening, they were also great masters: they grew cabbages, tomatoes and, of course, cucumbers in huge quantities in greenhouses, but only they had their own varieties of these crops, special ones.

Most of all, I was just struck by their cucumbers. That's how I, as a child, back in the 40s, first met a long-fruited variety, which is now considered some kind of unseen and is called Chinese. I remember how my grandmother carried them home in armfuls, like firewood. And they were delicious.

All this I tell you is that growing cucumbers was a habitual thing for me. But here's the mystery: when I, having become a city dweller, got married and decided to take up a dacha together with my husband, I began to grow them already on my own land (oh, how the city was drawn to her!), nothing good came of it. Miracles, and nothing more: all the other vegetables grow, but these do not. From year to year, the same picture: they grow, bloom and ... begin to wither, because their lashes rot away, then their roots. The harvest time is coming, and we have not yet enjoyed the fresh harvest.

And then one day old friends came to our country house. They looked at how I grieve because of the withered lashes, and they undertook to retrain me. Thanks to them, I learned how to treat plants, how to prepare a greenhouse and how to fill it. And at the heart of everything is the most common ash (cucumbers respect it very much). And here I will run ahead a little: my husband and I learned all these rules, thought about it, tried it, got our hands on it, now we have excellent harvests. But the most important thing is that we have been growing cucumbers in the same place for 20 years in a row!

Neighbors of cucumbers in the greenhouse

And now I'll tell you how we all do it. My husband made a frame of logs from logs 3 m long, 1.2 m wide, 70 cm high. feet and throw fertile soil on top with a layer of about 30 cm.

During the winter, this filling settles, in order to even out in the spring, I add humus and ash to the greenhouse, mixing them and sealing them.

Then I dig grooves with a shovel along the walls (on their inner side) and fill them first with quicklime, and then with fallen leaves harvested since autumn. I pour abundantly with hot water, quickly fall asleep with a layer of earth (10 cm), level and cover with polyethylene.

What happens: the lime is quenched, the foliage begins to overheat, release heat and warm the ground in the greenhouse.

I water the gap between the grooves well, sow radishes in two rows there, cover the seeds with dry earth and also cover with a film. And it turns out that all the soil in the greenhouse is under my cover. I put arcs of thick wire and pull dense non-woven material on them with clothespins. Two days later I check the ground: if it warms up, then I remove the film and sow the seeds of cucumbers (dry or germinated, it doesn’t matter) in the grooves - I water them, lightly sprinkle with dry land and again cover with a film, but I don’t put it directly on the beds, but on the planted planks so that it does not touch the sprouts, which will soon hatch. I completely remove it only when a couple of true leaves appear on the plants.

And now about the neighbor of cucumbers - radish. As soon as it rises, I immediately soak the corn seeds, plant them in boxes and put them out the window. The radish has ripened, I tear it out, and in its place I plant the grown corn in one row with the cucumbers. If the seedlings of cucumbers are stretched, I pour humus under it.

When the whips begin to grow, I remove the arcs with covering material and make a garter of cucumbers. I have hooks made of thick wire. I stick them into the ground and attach pieces of twine to them, the opposite ends of which I tie to the ridge of the greenhouse (which, in turn, is mounted on stakes attached to the ends of the frame). I tie whips to twine. If the nights are cool, then I throw covering material on the skate.

Every 10 days, from July to mid-August, I sprinkle the lashes with ashes, sifting it through a colander. And I do top dressing at the root every week - with an infusion of nettle, celandine, burdock, manure, ash, leftover bread, old jam and yeast (I then dilute this “brew” in 2 liters per bucket of water).

Once every three years, in the fall, I take out absolutely all the earth from my greenhouse to a depth of 1 m, fill the resulting pit with organic matter, flavored with fertilizer (I wrote about this in detail above), tamp everything well, add the previously excavated soil from above and plant rye in the greenhouse or mustard.

Before winter, I cut off green manure, close it up, and everything remains the same until spring. And in the spring - the same procedures that I have already talked about. This is how my cucumbers have been growing in one place for a couple of decades. I collect crops that are enough for two families, and I also supply my neighbors.

Cucumbers do not get sick from ashes, there are no aphids on them. Corn takes away excess moisture and serves as a support for them. Lime reduces acidity and heals the earth. And you do not need to move the greenhouse to another place - convenient!

Cucumbers in one place - questions and answers

We have been growing cucumbers in one place for seven years now, because “we installed supports on the bed, we cover them with non-woven material from above. Transferring the structure every year is problematic. What can be done to continue not to change the place for cucumbers, because cucumbers are grown in greenhouses year after year?

Crop rotation is an indisputable point of agricultural technology of any crop. Even our ancestors knew this, who did not read textbooks and the newspaper "Garden Garden". Remember the fairy tales about tops-roots and alternate crops at least according to this folklore principle: if roots were grown in the garden this season (carrots, beets, onions, potatoes, daikon, etc.), then next season, change them to tops - cabbage, cucumbers , tomatoes.

Nowhere you will find recommendations to sow cucumbers on cucumbers even two seasons in a row. And seven years is a clear overkill. The removal of the same nutrients (cucumbers “consume” a lot of nitrogen, potassium), the accumulation of diseases, pests for which pumpkin crops are “habitat”, lead to the fact that cucumbers lose productivity every season: nutritional deficiency, pests, diseases quickly put them out of action. If you add organic matter to the soil every year, well-fed cucumbers will resist infection by sucking insects for longer, but not indefinitely. And do not compare your beds with greenhouses. They use very labor-intensive technologies for improving the soil, which summer residents are beyond their strength and beyond their means. Changing the soil in the garden is much more difficult than putting cucumber supports in another area. There is no need to transfer them, because it is convenient to grow not only cucumbers on a trellis.

Tall tomatoes feel great “tied up”. Many summer residents have long been convinced that it is both more convenient and more profitable to grow tomatoes this way. Without contact with the soil, plants get sick less often, the fruits do not rot, they are very little affected by scoop caterpillars and slugs. Yes, and to process a vertical wall of stems and leaves from pests, diseases, if necessary, can be easier and, very importantly, more efficiently. What to do if you do not want to give up your favorite determinant variety? Not very tall tomatoes are also not forbidden to grow on a trellis. Their shoots will not grow up to two meters, but up to one and a half they may well “reach out”.

Cucumbers are considered good predecessors of tomatoes, and tomatoes are considered cucumbers. By alternating them, it is already possible to reduce the harmful effects of the permanent cultivation of one crop in the garden. An intermediate crop can be legumes, such as curly beans. Peas also bear fruit better, feeling the support.

Large corporations, through controlled media, are trying to impose on society the postulate that being born and dying in the same enterprise is the best thing that can happen to a person. Is it true? Only partly.

Stability is, of course, good, but at what cost? I have repeatedly (although not very often) met people who have worked at the same place of work for 10 or more years. Many of them were quite qualified, but none of them were subsequently hired by my clients. It would seem that a long work experience at one enterprise guarantees the interest of the employer, but everything should be in moderation. Over many years of work in the company, these people have grown so attached to their place of work, ossified in their views and forgot how to establish communications that they have become unclaimed in the labor market.

Imagine a person who has lived his life in a village where everything is clear and familiar, who has ended up in a city: an unfamiliar environment, running around, stress, getting into ridiculous situations, the inability to do without outside help in simple situations for a city dweller. The same thing happens when you change jobs with veterans of your companies: adaptation is very difficult, often unsuccessful.

Constantly working in one place, within the same team, a person becomes very effective for this particular enterprise, but stops thinking independently: all actions are perfected to automatism, all emergency situations have ceased to be something new a long time ago. In addition, he loses the ability to interact with other people. Once having adapted in a team of the same old-timers, he loses his communication skills, because. he does not need them in interaction with people whom he has known for many years. They understand each other perfectly, and sometimes even without words.

Of course, this position is beneficial for corporations. In addition to the high performance of such veteran employees, there are a number of other benefits. First, salaries in large and stable companies are always lower than those of smaller competitors, where there is less stability. Secondly, workers connected by many years of friendly ties are less likely to think about changing jobs. Thirdly, long-term isolation within one team will not allow employees to easily change jobs if such a desire arises - when considering his candidacy, an HR manager will seriously think about the possibility of adapting him to a new environment.

However, what is good for corporations in this situation is bad for employees: low wages, lack of great opportunities for professional and career growth, narrowing of horizons and intellectual qualities, low opportunities for mobility in the labor market.

The right way to build a career is to periodically change jobs. Experts advise doing this every 3-5 years. At the same time, increases within the same company must occur at least once every two years. This is due to the fact that in most cases (there are exceptions) one year is enough to clearly understand all business processes and learn how to perform all job duties thoroughly. In the future, the acquisition of new knowledge at work tends to zero, but the level of demotivation increases from the fact that the work becomes understandable, and therefore routine and uninteresting.

It must be remembered that a job change or promotion is usually accompanied by an increase in income of at least 20-30%. In some cases, a job change brings income that is many times greater than it was at the previous place of work. This is due to the fact that employers who target the best employees are sometimes ready to get them at any cost.

I am familiar with a number of such examples, although the reasons for such generous payouts are sometimes exotic. So, in my practice there was a case when the spouses, having divorced, divided the business, and the lady offered us to hire a key employee from her ex-husband's business for her. A successful decision to change jobs brought him a two and a half times higher salary and an interest-free loan for housing in Kyiv.

Do not forget also that job hunting is also a skill. Moreover, the skill is very useful and requires practice. The situation on the labor market is changing very dynamically, as well as the ways of hiring and the technology of work of HR managers. People who have worked all their lives in one enterprise become absolutely helpless when they are fired or when something happens to this enterprise. They don’t know how to write a resume, they don’t know how to behave in an interview, how to present their strengths and, if possible, disguise their weaknesses. The most striking illustration of how difficult it is to find a job after many years of work in one organization is the employees of various disbanded research institutes and defense enterprises working as sellers in the bazaars. I'm sure they could count on a lot more if they had the skills to find employment.

On the other hand, there is no need to go to extremes, breaking away from the spot at the first opportunity. When making a decision, you need to evaluate not only the increase in salary, but a number of factors that will affect your work in a new place. First of all, it is about how interesting the new job will be for you. Let me remind you that we spend half of our active life at work, and life should be lived with pleasure. The second point concerns the prospects for your development. When making a decision, you should look ahead and understand how possible your personal and professional development is in a new company. The third point is related to the prospects for your demand in the labor market in the future. The company you are transferring to and the position you are applying for should represent you in a favorable light to a future employer. You need to think about it today, weighing all the pros and cons. For example, when accepting a generous offer from a company with a bad reputation, you need to remember that a large salary can be reduced at any time, but this work experience can permanently block you from a really good company.

When planning a career and realizing the disadvantages of a long stay in one company, you need to follow the measure in search of the most profitable offers. Along with the risk of "souring" due to long-term tenure in one position, serious risks are posed by frequent job changes. And if short (up to a year of work) experience of young specialists at the beginning of a career is acceptable, then in the future, the applicant simply must have a record of 2-3 years of successful work in one company in his resume in order to have a chance to get an interview. I think I won’t reveal a secret if I say that two or three work experiences in a row up to one year practically guarantee that your resume will be in the trash.

My recommendation regarding the minimum term of work in the company is at least 2 years. I also recommend not to get any random temporary job until you find a good one. HR managers will not figure out why you went to this job after a much more prestigious one: there was nothing to feed your family or pay for an apartment, but they will simply mark themselves as “downed pilot”, and the vacant position will be offered to applicants with a career that is more understandable to them . If it’s completely unbearable and you need at least some money, try to make sure that no one knows about this temporary job.

In conclusion, a little parting word. Building your career, do not forget that it is yours. Your well-being, your physical and emotional state, confidence in yourself and tomorrow, well-being and wide opportunities for your loved ones depend on it. Therefore, remember that at work you do not owe anything to anyone, and you can change it at any time that you consider beneficial for yourself. I hope my advice will help you avoid mistakes and make your work work for you.

Sergey Marchenko, Managing Partner, Executive Search, SM Consulting agency

Psychologists say that a person should change jobs once every six to seven years.

Moreover, it is not at all necessary to find a new job in the specialty, because it is necessary from time to time to change both the type of activity and the type of occupation. But there are employees who have been working in the same place for decades.

When I worked in one newspaper, there were quite a few people who worked in the editorial office for more than a dozen years and were the so-called "sacred cows" within its walls. One of these employees worked in the editorial office for 45 years, the other - 43 years, the third was about to celebrate the 40th anniversary of his stay in these walls.

To my questions - is it not boring to work in the same place all my life - I received only puzzled looks instead of answers. People really did not understand and could not imagine how it was - to take and change jobs. And when one of the employees, who had worked in the newspaper for almost 15 years, decided to move to another newspaper, the old-timers of the editorial office simply twisted their fingers to their temples.

Among these old-timers was one woman who gave the newspaper about 40 years. And it so happened that she died right within the walls of her native editorial office, and at the funeral there were speeches about her superfidelity to her work and only one place of work. And for some reason I thought: why didn’t she try to work somewhere else in her life? Would she really lose something necessary and important from this? But there was no answer...

Loyalty to one place of work throughout life is now a real phenomenon. Because almost everywhere bosses and employees change so often that you don’t have time to keep track of everyone. Therefore, if among such a "staff turnover" you find a person who has been working in the same place for decades, you involuntarily feel a genuine interest in him.

But there are fewer and fewer of them - people over 50 years old are not very fond of modern jobs and they are trying to recruit a younger team. And it does not matter that things with young employees are not going so well, for some reason it is more important for the employer that he does not have people of retirement, pre-retirement or just middle age. Therefore, practically no one will be able to stay in one job for several decades in a row in the next couple of centuries. And this is very disappointing, because long work in one place has its own significant advantages. And they can not be listed.

The first plus of a long work in one place. A person who works in one place for a long time is more predictable than "flyers". He is also more thorough, responsible, he can be entrusted with the most serious tasks. He will always try to fulfill them not anyhow, but in full.

The second plus is long work in one place. When a person knows the team well, and the team knows him well, then there are fewer reasons for internal conflicts and misunderstandings.

The third plus of long work in one place. If you work in one company for a long time, then in a few years a person will become a super professional in his field. Yes, and peace of mind is provided - after all, everyone is around.

But if there are pluses, then there are certainly significant minuses. And the most important of them also need to be named.

The first disadvantage of long work in one place. Psychologists do not say in vain that work should be changed every six to seven years. Because it becomes routine. And if you have been doing the same thing for 30 years, then it is quite sad.

The second disadvantage of long work in one place. A person who sits in one place for a long time, but does not rise in position, gradually loses faith in himself, and with it the motivation to work.

The third disadvantage of long work in one place. If a person is always busy at the same job and does not try to move anywhere in search of a better share and a higher salary, then a modern employer may have doubts about his qualifications. After all, it turns out that no one needs the employee anymore, and the length of service in one place will become more of a minus, not a plus.

It is clear that everyone chooses whether to work in a new place every year, or to serve in the same office for 40 years. As you can see, each of these solutions has pluses, but there are also minuses.

Therefore, everything here is very individual. But the most important thing is that the work brings joy and satisfaction. Well, and, of course, some money - after all, every person wants to live well. And whether he works at the same time every year in a new place or 50 years he comes to the same job, it’s not so important - everyone chooses for himself.

Those who like to change jobs often earn on average less than those professionals who prefer to stay in one company for a relatively long time. This conclusion was made by professor of business school at Stanford University Katherine Shaw.

Her study involved 50,000 employees of Silicon Valley companies. As Katherine Shaw found out, the annual income of those specialists who worked in the same company for about 5 years increased by 8%. And the annual remuneration of those who often changed jobs increased by a maximum of 5%. In addition, those who work in the same company for a long time show the best results in terms of creativity and productivity.

“If you want to earn more, then frequent company changes are not the best option. If you try to look at specific examples, those professionals who have a high income worked for a long time in one or two companies,” says Katherine Shaw.

A "productive" change of work - in order to find one's place, vocation. But leaving solely for money is not the best idea. And it is better not to make "sudden movements" too often.

The ideal term in one company for young professionals is from 1 year

The frequent job change of a candidate, as noted by Elvira Sandrako, a customer service specialist, is rather a negative factor. Many companies, both recruiters and line managers, refuse to consider such resumes of candidates without delving into the reasons for leaving.

"Many professionals are looking for an ideal place that fits all the criteria that are important to them (growth opportunities, company stability, wide functionality, etc.). On the other hand, frequent job changes can be interpreted as a candidate's quarrelsomeness, inability to build long-term relationships in a team, or lack of professional skills. It is not worth saying at the interview that your expectations from the employer did not come true, since the imminent departure from the company can be predicted in advance by collecting as much information as possible about the potential job. From the point of view of future employers, it is better not to get a job work in general than to get somewhere for a month (with the exception of projects initially on a temporary basis. If the material factor is important, stay in the current place and try to combine work with the search for new opportunities. When indicating temporary projects (up to a year) in your resume, be sure to mark them in an appropriate manner so that no doubts arise," the expert advises.

The ideal period of work in the company, according to Elvira Sandrako, is determined by a period of about a year for young professionals, from 2-3 years for more experienced and from 3-5 years for managers, taking into account promotions and expansion of functionality during this period. We are not talking about specialists with predominantly project employment.

"This is because understanding business processes and mastering all the necessary knowledge and skills takes approximately 1.5-2 years. During this time, you will encounter various possible difficulties, learn the necessary lessons, get acquainted with the work of other departments and decide what exactly you are interested in the future: is it worth it to stay in this company and grow and develop within it, or is it necessary to look for new conditions and functionality outside? a higher level of income," the expert concludes.

You can "run into a dead end" within 2-4 years

"Frequent change of job is a flexible concept. For example, it is believed that if a person works, on average, in each company for more than 2-3 years, this is a stable employee. More than 5 years - loyal, "monogamous" (in relation to the company). At the same time, if we are talking about the positions of sales managers, it is not so often that there are specialists with really stable experience. This is due to the profession. For them, frequent job changes - if they work less than 1-1.5 years. The same rules apply in in relation to administrative staff (secretaries, office managers, etc.).If a person combines both professionalism and the ability to build a career, then in his case, frequent changes of jobs will mean career growth.Sometimes you have to communicate with candidates who, in three years, , having changed three companies, grow from line specialists of small companies to heads of departments or divisions of large firms.More often there are cases when frequent changes of jobs have a detrimental effect on the professionalism of a person (who ry spends a lot of strength and nerves on searches, and not on his own development). Such people often receive the stigma of "flyers", although, in my opinion, it is far from always deserved," says Yury Kondratyev, recruiting specialist at the personnel center.

If the company really cares about the employee, it must constantly motivate and develop him. If the employer does not regularly develop an employee, does not motivate him to new achievements, then depending on the profession and industry, the period of work in one company, for which the employee can run into a dead end, is approximately 2 to 4 years.

“If there is a complete understanding between the employee and the company, I see no obstacles for the employee to work there permanently. I fundamentally disagree with the recommendation of psychologists about the need to change jobs every 5 years,” notes Yuri Kondratiev.

"As for income, an employee who has been working for 3-5 years in one company and is a valuable specialist (rather than someone who often changes jobs) can count on a higher income. If the company's management is built correctly, then such a person will not be released. Otherwise ", a specialist can be "buyed out" by another company at a high price. Stability is still valued more. Nevertheless, in any large company there are employees who have been working for a very long time - 5, 7, and 10 years. This is far from an indicator of their professionalism, "- the expert thinks.

Switching to another company is not always a solution to the problem

Yulia Apyonkina, oil and gas consultant at a headhunting company, is convinced that the benefits for a career from frequent job changes can only be assessed on the example of a single career. In general, it is understood that within the same company, a career is built over several years, with transitions from one position to another, with additional responsibilities. It is a mistake to think that if a specialist hits the ceiling in one company, then he can be offered a good place in a position higher in another. Such precedents happen, but not with everyone. Companies prefer to nurture their leaders and their top managers.

"There is a common opinion that the ideal period is 3 years, less often - 5 years. This opinion is just a trend - in no case is a rule that should be followed. There are no ideal periods, sometimes it's not even about the specific abilities of an employee , not in the tasks and goals that management and immediate superiors set for him, but in the age and period of life of the company itself. You can get into the company at the time of its rapid growth, and then your career will grow by leaps and bounds, or you can get into the moment of stagnation, where it is up to you to decide how interested you are in the tasks of developing your business and taking it to a new level. In this case, the rapid development of a career may not happen.

The labor market has changed significantly over the past few years. And if before the crisis there really were candidates who could increase their capitalization in a year, now such examples are cited rather in a negative way. Now we are not talking about fixed-term contracts and projects where completely different mechanisms work. Greater income does not come from frequent job changes, but from the level of professionalism, the volume of tasks to be solved and the degree of overall adequacy of the candidate," Yulia Apyonkina believes.

The "European" model does not work very well in Russia

"Frequent job changes can hardly be called useful. Employers who contact us are always looking for stable employees for a long period. Therefore, companies do not hire candidates who change jobs 3-4 times a year. Such "horses" inspire distrust already at the resume level. After all, in 70% of cases they are in search of a job and better working conditions, even working in a company. Therefore, employers prefer not to hire such specialists. The ideal period for working in one company is 3 years. During this time, an employee is not only recruited experience, but also learns the entire structure of the company, industry specifics.Employer and recruiter can evaluate the result of the work of a specialist, what projects he implemented, what tasks he completed.

We often come across candidates who change jobs every year and justify this fact by saying that Europeans advise changing jobs more often. Unfortunately for many applicants, in Russia there is a completely different approach to recruitment and, above all, the experience and stability of a specialist are valued. A long work experience in one place shows that the employee is reliable, loyal to the company and knows how to build relationships with his colleagues. Therefore, most employers indicate in the description of their vacancies the requirement - at least 2-3 years of work experience in a similar position or in the last place of work," says Elena Khmelevskaya, Leading Recruitment Consultant of the Recruitment Agency of Unique Specialists.

As for the level of remuneration, a specialist with an average experience in one place of at least 3-5 years can count on a higher income. For applicants who have changed 3-4 companies in a year or change jobs annually, the expert notes, the chances of finding a decent job each time are less and less. Indeed, at each interview, a specialist will have to answer the question of why he changes jobs so often, and prove that he will be a good and stable employee.

The use of this method makes it possible to grow strawberries in one place for up to 6 years, without reducing its yield and without losing its large fruit.

Planting strawberries

First, a ditch is dug 40 cm deep, 160 cm wide and 400 cm long.

Then it is stuffed with grass to the top - with a mound. I trample it well, tamp it down, add more herbs, dry or fresh (when rotting, grass gives heat and releases carbon dioxide, which is very useful for the growth and development of strawberries).

I throw a hose on this ditch-bed and fill it with water. From above I pour the earth and again fill it with water. Then I scatter a mixture of humus and ash on top, somewhere around 20 buckets.

In no case should lime and fresh manure be added, as this causes rapid growth of tops and leaf spot.

So, we got a bed 35 cm high. Very convenient for planting early berries. I cover the finished bed with a film and leave it alone for two weeks to shrink. When planting strawberries, I maintain a distance: between bushes - 40 cm, between rows - 80 cm. In the aisles I plant garlic (spring or winter) and onions on a feather.

I plant strawberries either in April or August. My neighbors, watching me dig a ditch, were surprised at first, but when they saw what kind of crop I was harvesting (some berries did not fit in a glass!), They began to ask for bushes for seedlings.

strawberry care

Now about care. Watering - only at the root, because sprinkling causes gray rot. After watering, I often use grass mulching. During fruiting, to make the strawberries sweeter, I slightly reduce watering.

The next year in the spring, as soon as the snow melts, I remove the leaves and feed them with ashes - 2 tbsp. l. under the root, and be sure to loosen. Then I spray with potassium permanganate, and a week later with a decoction of garlic and onion husks. I trim my mustache from time to time.

In August, when there is an active laying of flower buds for the next year, I again remember my motto and water it abundantly. I repeat a similar watering in October, if there is no rain, so that the strawberries endure the winter well. In the third year of planting, I install drip irrigation.

In November, I cover strawberries with twigs that remained after pruning remontant raspberries, which before winter I always cut to the very root. For the first two years, I cover young plantings of strawberries from frost with fallen leaves.

During the winter, the foliage is compressed and remains the next year as mulch and fertilizer, thereby rejuvenating the earth and preventing the growth of mustaches, and also promotes the rooting of young roots. This method of planting and caring for strawberries saves the gardener from frequent changes in the place of growing strawberries (up to 6 years). I wish you all good luck!

Garden and cottage › Garden plants › Strawberry (Strawberry) › Growing strawberries for many years in one place is my way

    Why strawberries do not yield

If there are no berries on the strawberry garden, there may be several reasons. Perhaps you need to start a new plantation or treat existing bushes - in each case there are signs indicating a possible reason for the lack of a crop.

There was a harvest, but then the flowering weakened, the berries became smaller. Most likely, your plantation has been “living” in one place for many years, and it has simply grown old. If the bushes are more than five years old, then you should not count on the harvest, you need to lay new plantings.

There are almost no flowers on strawberries planted last year. If the planting is done later than August, it is not surprising that there is no harvest. Plants simply did not have time to prepare and lay full-fledged color buds. By next year, strawberries will gain strength and produce a harvest.

Bushes of 2-4 years of age do not bloom. Perhaps the reason is the weak winter hardiness of the variety. There is another reason - in August, when the flower buds are being laid, the strawberries did not have enough moisture and nutrition. Garden strawberries are recommended to be well watered and fed at this time. If there have been no berries on the strawberries since planting, then the bushes may turn out to be a weedy variety of strawberries. Such plants give a lot of whiskers and small crooked berries.

Strawberries bloomed, but no berries. This occurs with a lack of pollination, when there are prolonged rains.

The buds dry out and fall off. The strawberry weevil is to blame. During the budding period, spray the bushes with an insecticide, for example, Fitoverm. Spray early in the morning.
