Monolithic seamless floors - one of the oldest types of floors. The first floors were the floors in caves, yurts and other primitive, not very complex buildings. Seamless floor covering - a layer of the top floor covering, continuous or divided into cards by special veins, formed during the curing of building mixtures. Screeds are hygienic, easy to clean, highly resistant to abrasion, heat and chemical resistance, frost resistance, impact and scratch resistance. They are highly decorative. However, the installation of such floors is more laborious than the installation of floors from rolled materials.

The main requirements for materials for seamless floors are as follows: no delamination from the base after application to the floor, no cracking during hardening and during operation.

Depending on the type of polymer raw materials used, polyvinyl acetate, polyester, polyurethane, epoxy and other seamless floors are distinguished. According to the constructive solution and methods of implementation, seamless floor coverings can be mastic, mortar and concrete. Mastic are made from cast compositions based on a binder with a small amount of filler by spraying or spilling, followed by leveling. Their common feature is a small thickness (up to 0.5 mm). Mortar seamless coatings are distinguished by the presence of coarse aggregate (up to 7 mm) and a layer thickness of 5 to 20 mm, while concrete ones contain aggregate larger than 7 mm with a layer thickness of 20 mm or more.

Seamless floor coverings are made monolithic based on aqueous dispersions of polymers. Floor coverings based on aqueous dispersions of polymers - continuous layers of polymer binder (most often polyvinyl acetate dispersion or styrene-butadiene latex) and filler (finely crushed light-colored stone material - marshalite, ground quartz sand, etc.) with a particle size of not more than 0, 15 mm.

Coatings based on aqueous dispersions of polymers consist of leveling and front layers. In leveling compositions, quartz sand with a particle size of 0.2-0.3 mm is used.

These coatings are applied on a cement or gypsum based screed and on a flat floor slab by spraying with compressed air or an airless sprayer. Coatings are used in areas with heavy traffic, for which there are increased requirements for cleanliness.

Floor coverings based on reactive oligomers are continuous layers of cold curing polymer resins, mineral fillers and pigments.

The binder is epoxy, polyester, polyurethane resins. Fillers - finely ground powders - mineral (quartz) and polymer (polyethylene, vinyl plastic). Filler - quartz sand and painted glass-ceramic crushed stone of fraction 1.5 - 10 mm. Mineral and organic dyes are used as pigments. Additives are introduced into the composition of the mastic that improve the spill, impart fire resistance, stabilize and improve adhesion.

Such coatings are dust-free, non-conductive and can be easily cleaned from dust and liquid contaminants.

The design of monolithic coatings includes a primer layer of varnishes that do not contain filler, the main and finishing layers. The coating may contain additional layers. To increase the crack resistance of the coating, it is advisable to introduce an elastic layer made of compositions having a modulus of elasticity several times lower than the coating material (epoxy-rubber mastics, thiokol sealant, and some sheet materials). To increase the impact resistance of the floor, a reinforced layer of fiberglass is included in the design.

Depending on the type of filler, the degree of filling and the technology of applying the main layer, seamless coatings are divided into bulk, highly filled and frame. Liquid coatings are made from a composition of a binder with a finely dispersed filler, taken in a ratio of 1:1.5 by weight. A layer with a thickness of 1.5--3 mm is applied by pouring, followed by leveling. Highly filled coatings are made from a composition of resin and sand in a ratio of 1:6. It is applied using trowels and trowels. Layer thickness -- 5--9 mm. In frame coatings, a porous frame is initially made of crushed stone, then it is impregnated with an unfilled polymer composition. Layer thickness - 15 mm.

Mastic self-leveling seamless floors are characterized by a small thickness (up to 5 mm.) And a variety of properties, which is achieved by varying the composition of the mastics. Depending on the type of resin, mastics are divided into:

1. Epoxy - used in rooms with high mechanical stress. Epoxy resins give the screed high strength, chemical resistance and minimal shrinkage.

2. Polyurethane - give the surface resistance to chemical, abrasive and mechanical stress. Polyurethane floors are odorless and non-slip.

Mixtures based on polyester resins and fine quartz sand harden in just a few hours, forming a hard and dry surface. Seamless self-leveling floors based on such mastic are environmentally friendly and dust-free.

Acrylic - used for rooms where the floor is exposed to chemicals, especially acids (laboratories, dairies, canteens, etc.)

Installation of self-leveling seamless floors based on mastic takes place in three stages. First, a primer layer of varnish is applied directly to the concrete base or screed, which will provide a better connection between the concrete base and subsequent layers.

After the primer dries, the main and finishing layers are applied. The composition of the main layer includes resin and fine filler in a ratio of 1:1.5 by weight. This layer is applied with a thickness of 1.5-3 mm by pouring and subsequent leveling. The finishing layer is applied in two stages: the first layer with a decorative filler immediately after the mastic dries, the second one a day later. The filler is chips made of colored plexiglass up to 1 mm thick. or vinyl plastic, which are recessed into the main layer of seamless floors in the form of a pattern or ornament at the request of the customer. In addition, the layer itself may be colored.

Self-leveling seamless floors can have special qualities if additional layers are introduced on top of the main one. So, for example, to increase crack resistance, elastic layers based on epoxy-rubber mastic, thiokol sealant or polyisobutylene sheet are introduced. And reinforced fiberglass layers increase impact resistance.

Self-leveling seamless floors have all the qualities of modern finishing materials and meet the ever-increasing requirements of strength and durability.

Compositions for the device of seamless floors are made on the basis of polymers, fillers and cement (for polymer-cement compositions). Depending on the feedstock, seamless floors are divided into three types: polyvinyl acetate, polymer cement and polymer concrete. According to the consistency, the compositions can be plastic, which are laid using laying machines or vibration devices, and bulk, which are applied by spraying or spilling; by appointment - for the front layer, screed and putty layer. The compositions of all types of monolithic floors should provide the possibility of obtaining an even, without joints, sagging, shells and surface roughness over the entire area, with a uniform color. The coating should not flake off from the base, crack and peel off during operation.

Seamless floor coverings made of polyvinyl acetate mastics and polymer-cement compositions are used for residential, public and industrial buildings and structures. Polyvinyl acetate compounds are not used in rooms with high humidity, as well as in industrial buildings with possible shock loads or hard-driving vehicles. In construction practice, polyvinyl acetate mastics and polymer-cement compositions are most widely used.

From polyvinyl acetate mastic, seamless floors can be arranged with one or two layers. A single-layer bulk coating is arranged on a well-prepared flat surface with a thickness of 1.5 ... 2 mm. Depending on the intensity of traffic and operating conditions of the floor, the thickness of the front layer can be increased up to 4 mm. In case of unsatisfactory condition of the base, two-layer coatings with a thickness of 3 ... 4 mm are used.

In today's building materials market roll materials are represented by various types of pile coatings and linoleums. These types of coatings are widely used in office, residential and other similar areas with low traffic intensity.

Linoleums (lat. linum - linen, oleut - oil) originated in England in the middle of the 19th century. Then linoleum was obtained by applying a highly filled paste of cork flour and natural drying oils to a fabric base. It was the so-called natural linoleum, replaced by polyvinyl chloride (PVC)-based linoleum by the middle of the 20th century.

Currently, Western Europe has again begun to produce linoleum on natural raw materials. This material can be found in small quantities in our construction market. The bulk of various types of linoleum is made on the basis of plasticized PVC.

Linoleums are produced in a wide range of colors with a variety of patterns, both without a base and on a base (including heat and sound insulation). Linoleum on a heat and sound insulating basis can be laid directly on the screed without the installation of intermediate layers. Linoleum panels have a width of up to 4 m. The wider the linoleum panel, the less likely it is that the seam formed at the junction of individual panels will be in your room "in the most visible place."

Linoleum gives a flexible, fairly beautiful and easy to maintain floor covering, but requires a smooth, even and solid base for laying. You can not use ordinary linoleum in rooms with high traffic; in this case, there is rapid wear and loss of the appearance of the coating, which is incorrectly attributed to the low quality of the linoleum itself.

Floors seamless (bulk) from polymeric materials

Self-leveling screeds are monolithic floor coverings made of movable self-spreading polymer-containing mastics on a pre-prepared base or screed. Depending on the type of resin, these compositions are divided into epoxy, polyurethane, acrylic (based on polymethyl methacrylate) and polyester. By changing the compositions, varying the thickness of the coating, it is possible, depending on the requirements for the coating, to obtain a wear-resistant, strong, elastic, decorative, durable coating that has a number of specific qualities: noiselessness, chemical resistance, hygiene, ease of maintenance, and others.

Epoxy(based on reactive groups) self-leveling floors are used in rooms with heavy vehicles, driveways, corridors for forklifts, etc., that is, for objects subjected to significant mechanical stress. Minimal shrinkage, high adhesion to the subfloor, mechanical strength and high chemical resistance make it possible to use epoxy resins as a binder for such floors. The most widely used epoxy two-component water-soluble compositions.

Polyurethane bulk floors are steady against abrasive, mechanical and chemical (especially acids, oils and gasoline) influence. Such floors are non-slip, resistant to bacteria and fungi, and odorless. Polyurethane composite compositions are two-, sometimes three-component systems containing reactive oligomers, modifiers, curing agents in the base.

Products based on polyester resins for the production of monolithic floor coverings (resin + finely dispersed quartz sand). Curing time - several hours. The surface of the floor is hard and dry, which makes it possible to walk on it, drive a forklift, etc. the next day. Such floors are characterized by increased hygiene (do not produce dust, environmentally friendly).

acrylic masses used for the installation of self-leveling floors in canteens, dairies, food warehouses, office space, etc., for objects in which exposure to chemicals on the floor (especially acid-containing ones) is possible.

Floor coverings made of polymer masses most often multilayer, the thickness of which usually ranges from 0.5 mm to 2 mm. If the consumption of such compositions per 1 m2 of the floor surface is 0.3 l / m2, then such a floor can be called painted rather than self-leveling.

To give increased decorativeness, mosaic flakes are introduced into the surface (lacquer) layer. At the request of the customer, the color and shade are selected, an appropriate pattern or ornament is created.

Technological sequence of the installation of self-leveling floors on the finished base: dust removal with a vacuum cleaner - primer - putty - base layer - varnish. After the putty layer has hardened, the base is ground with a carborundum stone (grinder) and cleaned of dust, then primed. The primer fixes the top layer of the base, fastens dust-like particles in the pores of the base, provides a stronger connection of the floor film to the base. The primer is applied with a spray gun in a thin, even layer, avoiding the formation of puddles on the base surface. After the primer dries, a leveling layer of mastic is applied to the prepared base (the first floor pouring operation).
