How to make a part out of plastic according to a template. Making plastic products and molds with your own hands. Home plastic molding

The production of plastics only at first glance seems difficult. It turns out that plastic can be made at home. Homemade plastic may be needed to repair plastic products, to make toys, such as soldiers, to spend interesting leisure time with children.

The easiest way to produce plastics at home is this. You need to take a small amount of milk, heat it, but do not boil it. Then pour the vinegar into the milk. You will get a thick mass. It needs to be rinsed under a tap. Figures can be cut out of this rubber mass using any stencils, which will harden in a few days.

To make cases and decorative frames, plastics production will also help. To work, you need fiberglass and epoxy glue. First you need to prepare a model, which should be covered with paraffin or plain paper before work, so that later the resulting product can be separated from the mold. Then alternately fiberglass and epoxy glue are applied in layers. Fiberglass should be very well saturated with glue to get everything right. Do not apply more than four or six layers at a time. You need to wait until the glue hardens.

For cast products, you can use the following recipe. Mix 65 parts of very fine sawdust with 35 parts of magnesite. The resulting mixture must be poured with a 0.1% solution of magnesium chloride and stirred. You should get a doughy mass, which is poured into the mold. Such plastic, when hardened, is easily processed and has high strength. It can even be drilled.

Also, plastic can be made from cottage cheese and quicklime. We take 40 parts of quicklime and 60 - cottage cheese. The curd is pressed under pressure, as it is necessary to remove all the water that is in the curd. Cottage cheese is crushed to a state of powder and poured into a glass container with high walls. Lime is crushed separately and poured in portions into cottage cheese, constantly stirring the mixture with a wooden stick. The reaction of cottage cheese with lime forms a casein mass, which begins to harden very quickly. While the mass is liquid, it is poured into molds. Best of all, such plastic hardens if it is put under a press. In this case, the plastic is very durable.

Making plastics at home can be an interesting hobby.

Plastics are currently the most common in our daily lives. Various elements of cars, buildings, household appliances, as well as furniture, utensils and much more are made of plastic. Often, home craftsmen use plastic at home as a starting material in order to make various useful items.

All plastics that are used to make household products are divided into two groups: thermoplastic and thermoset.

Thermosetting plastics are characterized by maximum hardness and minimum ductility, which allows them not to melt or soften when heated.

If thermoplastics are heated to a certain temperature, they will melt, but if the temperatures decrease, they will become solid again. This property of thermoplastics makes it possible to mold plastics at home and make parts.

What is the composition of plastics? How is plastic made at home?

Homemade plastic can be prepared in the following way. It is necessary to thoroughly mix small sawdust and magnesite in a ratio of 2: 1, pour the mixture with a solution of 0.1% magnesium chloride and stir so as to obtain a pasty state. In order to obtain parts from such plastic, the main method is used - molding plastics at home into molds. When solidified, the plastic will acquire a fairly high strength with good machinability, i.e. it is not difficult to drill, saw, process with an abrasive tool or file.

You can make plastic in a different way. It is necessary to mix small wood sawdust with ground talc in a ratio of 5: 2 and pour it with wood glue prepared in advance. The glue should have the consistency of thick sour cream. The resulting mixture must be stirred so as to obtain a pasty state. It would be reasonable to introduce into the mixture 1/2 mass part of aluminum potassium or aluminum alum, which provides protection from mold and natural drying oil, which provides an increase in plasticity. Plastic can be dyed if desired. To do this, add an aniline dye of the desired color to the plastics. For the manufacture of parts, a method is used - molding plastics at home into molds. To increase the strength of the plastic, thickened nitro-paint or nitro-lacquer is poured into the mixture at the time of manufacture instead of glue. Parts are also made by casting.

Good characteristics have plastic, which is prepared from the following components: paper dry mass / dry wood glue / finely ground chalk / glycerin / ethyl alcohol / dry ocher, which are mixed in accordance with mass parts 5/28/60/2.5/3, 5/1.

The paper dry mass should be crushed strongly and pour diluted. During dilution, glycerin, chalk, ocher and alcohol should be gradually introduced, without ceasing to stir the mixture. Parts from this mixture are also used in plastic injection molding at home. The product is colored if added to the mixture

Phenol-formaldehyde plastic is also easy to make at home. It is necessary to take crystalline (phenol) hydroxybenzene or analogues and an aqueous solution of 40% formalin. Concentrated carbolic acid is quite capable of replacing phenol. It is necessary to mix crystalline phenol (20g) with formalin (30g) by adding concentrated hydrochloric acid (30 drops). Instead of phenol, carbolic acid (40 ml) can be used. The mixture should spontaneously heat up and boil, and the consistency will become glassy and viscous. The resulting mass must be poured into the mold for 30 minutes, after which the mixture in the mold is immersed in boiling water for 10-15 minutes. Then you can take the product out of the mold. The resin obtained in this way is a thermosetting plastic with a reddish color, which is hard and strong. From it, it is allowed to manufacture parts that are supposed to be subjected to significant loads.

Plastic today is one of the most frequently used means not only in industry, but also in everyday life. Plastic can be made using a 3D printer, and can be purchased at a store. But the policy of our site simply requires that we find some way to create plastic at home, which we will do right now.

In the video about plastic in more detail:

To create plastic, we need acetone, which is used as a solvent for varnishes and paints, a glass or metal container, containers (you can use a jar of grandmother's jam or a cupcake oven mold), polystyrene foam, which can probably be found in a closet or basement where boxes of home appliances are hidden.

We figured out the materials, which means that it's time to get to work.

We take a container or mold for a cake, as in our case, and pour a little acetone into it. The amount of acetone is directly proportional to the size of the plastic product. If you need a little plastic, then just pour about one centimeter from the bottom. If during the process it turns out that there is not enough acetone, then you can add it later.

The next thing we need to do is to break the foam into small pieces that can fit in the container of our choice without any problems.

Pieces of foam should be individually lowered into a container with acetone. The foam will immediately begin to melt under the action of acetone, which will cause a chemical reaction. By adding acetone gradually, you will reach a point where it stops melting. This means that you need to add acetone or simply remove an extra piece of foam.

Attention!!! During the process, care must be taken to protect the eyes, since acetone in the process of dissolution can cause serious damage to the visual organs. Never inhale acetone vapors. Also, for safety reasons, the project must be done away from any sources of fire and in well-ventilated areas. Be sure to wash your hands with soap after touching uncured plastic. At the end, don't pour the acetone down the drain, as it will do the same to the sewer pipes as it does to the Styrofoam.

This video lesson from the ochumeletsTV channel is about how to carry out plastic injection molding at home. Molten plastic is not completely liquid. This is a thick mass, so it is poured under pressure. To create it, the master made a metal syringe. Used a plumbing fixture. Piston. Guide.

Solid mold. From epoxy resin. Make a screw lamb. Polypropylene was used as raw material. From an old box. At home, it is better to pour polypropylene and polyethylene, as these plastics are non-toxic.

When heated, they do not emit harmful products. Small pieces are filled into a syringe. We put it in the oven 220-240 degrees. The part is simple, so the plastic should not be overheated much. While the plastic is heating, we will assemble the mold.

First, fix the bolt to the desired distance. It is enough to pull with your hands, no wrench is needed here. The pressure is not so high. To prevent the bolts from going back and forth, we use a cap. Chipboard material. Install the cover and tighten with nuts. We will fill the hole with plastic.

30 minutes have passed. We put on special gloves, we get a syringe. We spin quickly. Press down to extrude the plastic. Mounted on top of the mold. We press. We hold out for a certain amount of time. It must be kept under pressure so that shrinkage is minimal.
Let's analyze the form and see what the product turned out to be.

It looks like it all spilled. Extract. The detail is done. The bolt is well filled, sits firmly. The protrusions can be cut off. So you can do the casting of polypropylene, etc. at home. This is the most primitive artisanal way. So that you can quickly and easily cast the product.

Mold making

Next, watch a video on how to make a mold to pour plastic.

Polypropylene injection molding machine

The author of the OumeletsTV channel showed a do-it-yourself machine for home use. He is electric. Manual piston. Thermostat for precise temperature control. The video shows his test. For these purposes, he will cast nylon or polyamide. There is another name - kapron. Nylon is usually used to make crosses for chairs. Just such a one was found by the master, he crumbled it. Before use, the mug must be dried at a temperature of up to 100 degrees. This should be done within 2-4 hours.

Load the pellets into the machine. Let's set it to 250 degrees. This is the optimal temperature for casting polyamide. Let's wait until the necessary degrees are typed. Then install the piston. The machine has reached the optimal mode, the indicator light is on. Now you need to wait 5 minutes for the plastic to completely warm up from the inside.

The polyamide is hot. We put it on the mold. We press. We do exposure under pressure. It can be seen that he was flooded. Let's let it cool down a bit. Now let's disassemble the mold. Studied plastic product. As you can see, there is no shrinkage.

plastic injection molding machine at home

Below is a video explaining how to make a plastic injection molding machine. What is required for this at home artisanal conditions? Piston rod. Three-quarter pipe as a cylinder. Half inch adapter for 3/4 pipe. Fitting cut for convenience. Metal gasket with mica for insulation. Thermostat. It regulates the temperature up to 350 degrees. Ten 600 watts. Two nuts and a box for mounting the thermostat. We put on an adapter. Spin the puck.
To prevent nichrome from sliding down.

We begin to assemble the control unit. Then we attach the thermocouple from the thermostat to the cylinder body. The author did not begin to show how he would collect all this, but presented a diagram. The photo shows the device assembled.

We attach the control unit to the syringe. Tighten with nuts. Thermocouples are long enough. Now you need to fix. Mica to prevent thermocouple overshoot through ceramic insulators. For rewinding, not just a thread is used, but silica. It is heat-resistant, that is, it does not burn, does not melt. You can use asbestos cord. But since the master did not have it, he had to buy silica.

We wrap with a heating element. Further, you can use mineral wool or asbestos cloth. Necessary to avoid heat loss. The master used mineral wool from an old oven. Fixed with aluminum wire. Assembly completed. Can be pressure tested.

Set the thermostat to 100 degrees. Let's see how the machine will work in this mode at home.

Welcome dear visitors of the site Video Teacher. In this post, we wanted to present you with a video tutorial on how to make plastic at home.

Make plastic at home

How to make some form out of plastic if you don't have a 3D printer handy? With the help of this video, you will learn how to make lightweight and amazingly durable plastic at home.

Materials you will need for this project:

  1. Acetone (Used as a solvent, such as for varnishes and paints. You can buy it at almost any hardware or hardware store).
  2. Glass or metal container (A small jar or some kind of metal shape is fine.)
  3. Polystyrene foam (Household appliances and electronics are packed in foam plastic. I think you will have no problems finding foam plastic).

Open the bottle and pour the acetone into the container. One centimeter from the bottom is enough for a small piece of plastic. If this is not enough, you can always add a little more later. Break the styrofoam into small pieces that can easily fit in the container. Take one piece and lower it into a container - the foam will immediately begin to melt, under the action of acetone.

Continue adding styrofoam until it no longer melts, then wait 5-10 minutes for some of the acetone to evaporate. After that, you can take the plastic in your hands and make some form. The plastic will completely harden in 20-30 hours. The final product is quite hard and can be processed to give a more finished shape.

By the way, acetone is quite dangerous, so read the instructions before using. Take care of eye protection. Acetone evaporates very quickly and can cause serious injury to your eyesight. In no case should you inhale acetone vapors, let alone drink it. In addition, this project must be done away from any source of fire and in well-ventilated areas, or outdoors. Be sure to wash your hands with soap and water after touching hardened plastic. Another very important detail is that acetone cannot be poured into the sewer, otherwise nothing will remain from plastic pipes, as well as from polystyrene.

So, the next time you need to make something out of plastic, you will already know how to do it right! If you liked this video, don't forget to like and tell your friends on social networks and join our social groups.
