Cover from the sun on the beach with your own hands. Tips from experienced craftsmen for self-construction of a high-quality awning. What do we need for this

An overview of a portable, lightweight self-folding awning. An interesting contraption, which may well be quite in demand during the holidays.

Usually at the beginning of the review, I crucify about all sorts of abstract topics, smoothly leading the reader to the content.
This will not happen here, some kind of stupor attacked me after training. They say that physical activity improves cognitive function, but it seems to me that this is not so. Now the closest association to what is happening in my head can be called the well-known "snake". One thought rushes back and forth, gradually growing, in order to eventually disappear again. So it's best to get straight to the point.
Here's what they promise.

PACKAGING AND APPEARANCE.

The assembled tent is placed in a one-kilogram flat half-meter round cover. Quite a transportable case, thanks to the presence of handles.

I immediately opened it and the awning jumped out on me miraculously pushing itself out of two-dimensional space into three-dimensional space. (Here I spent about 10-15 minutes trying to find and link here to an informative old computer article, it seems by Bird Kiwi about the holographic principle of the universe. There was something in the title about angels at the end of a needle. "If anyone can help, I would be grateful, I reread this article with interest more than once and now I could not find a saved copy).
Unfolding the awning takes 3-5 seconds thanks to the elastic frame. The flip side of this is the puzzle of folding. To fold this tent without the help of a training video (and the instructions that came with the tent are not very informative), you need to have excellent spatial thinking.

I got a light green awning, there is also blue and silver-blue.

The awning is an ordinary tent without a front. Unfolded, lay down and rest. There is no unpleasant chemical smell.

The dimensions are impressive relative to the original folded state.

The awning quite allows to fit one adult or comfortably accommodate 2-3 children. There is also a modification with a retractable floor, but such an awning is much smaller, about one and a half meters.

That's how it is live. As you can see, there are plenty of places for a child.

And there are a lot of standing places too

In addition to the awning comes with a small bag with pegs. There is also a second option for fixing - these are pockets into which it is proposed to pour sand. Well, maybe with a symbolic wind this will be good, but in a good way you need to use pegs, especially since it is not difficult.

The material… well, the devil knows what material, some kind of synthetic fabric. But! Everything is decently made - straight neat stitches, overall neat appearance. There are no signs of Chinese cheapness.

An important detail, without which this awning would lose a fair amount of practicality, is a ventilation mesh around the entire perimeter. I think that all of those who read at least once but found themselves in a tent heated by the sun. Pleasant little, even if there is an open window. There are no problems here generally. Exceptional airflow and the absence of any hint of stuffiness.

It's not stuffy at all inside. However, it is worth noting that sunlight passes through these holes without interference and you can count on a complete shadow inside only with the proper location of the awning.

I came across comments to this tent on Ali, people wrote about the weak sex. Here I agree, the ideal option would be a floor made of something dense like oxford. The wife, who took the tent for a couple of days to the country for field trials, confirmed this. She placed a carpet folded in half under the floor. In general, something less thick would have fit, but there were two kids hanging out non-stop in this tent, so there was a question not only of keeping the floor intact, but also of making it soft. If there are some pebbles, such a floor will not last long without a layer. At the dacha, it’s not a problem to find something to put on, but if you go to the beach, then only on the sand, on stones without a layer, the bottom will not last long. In fairness, it is worth noting that a stronger floor material means more weight.

The second point - it would be nice to organize a couple of pockets on the sides. This would not add weight at all, but in terms of convenience it would be nice. Put a book there, a phone or a bottle of water.

Here is some video. Ideally, I would shoot in nature, but by the time I get out somewhere, the whole summer will pass

As for the assembly ... well, it's just a charge for the mind. I eventually spat on following the instructions in the pictures and found a video on YouTube.

GENERAL IMPRESSIONS

So far positive. If you do not take into account the thin material of the floor, then there is nothing to complain about. A rather light and at the same time roomy thing that can make a vacation on a hot day definitely more comfortable, and in the case of children's vacation, less harmful (less likely to burn). It is clear that this thing will not protect against mosquitoes or rain, its goals are completely different.

With coupon HXFTENT5 the price becomes $24.99, which is 2 bucks less than the lowest price on ali. And it seems like there is no track, you can immediately track the movement of the parcel.

Judging by the large number of Russian-speaking comments on the Ali mentioned above, there are a lot of chances that there will be owners of such a tent on the Muska. I beg you to drop your impressions in the comments.

A sun canopy for the beach, simple in design, will be appreciated by many vacationers. Unlike an umbrella, it creates a lot of shade; costs less than an umbrella, as it is made from improvised materials; The design itself is lightweight and collapsible, making it easy to fit in a hiking backpack. How to make such a canopy with your own hands, see and read the step-by-step instructions.

materials

To make a canopy from the sun with your own hands, prepare:

  • hand drill;
  • rubber mallet;
  • inch PVC pipe (4 pcs. 90 cm and 4 pcs. 60 cm each);
  • inch PVC adapter - 8 pcs.;
  • inch PVC couplings - 4 pcs.;
  • plugs - 8 pcs.;
  • 0.5 inch bolts and hex nuts for them - 4 pcs.;
  • washers (2 pcs. for each bolt);
  • paracord;
  • tarpaulin;
  • tent pegs.

Step 1. Modify the four caps. Drill a hole for a bolt in each of them. Insert the bolt, washers and nut according to the diagram shown in the photo. Tighten the bolt firmly.

Step 2. Place the resulting plugs on two long PVC pipes and two shorter ones. To make them sit down thoroughly hammer them with a rubber mallet.

Step 3. Attach PVC adapters to the ends of the same pipes on the other side. For strength, walk along them with a rubberized hammer.

Step 4. On one end of the remaining four pipes, string plugs without bolts. On the second - adapters.

Step 5. So you get the support structures for the awning. With the help of a coupling, these parts are converted into two high sticks for the front of the canopy and two small ones for the back. Holes must be drilled in the upper part of the assembled parts. Through them you will pass the paracord when assembling the structure on the beach.

Step 6. To assemble the canopy, you need to spread a tarp or prepared fabric at the installation site.

Step 7. Pass the paracord through the corners of the tarp, pulling it out to the sides.

Step 8. Tie the ends of the rope to the stakes and drive them in at an angle to the canvas cover.

Step 9. In one of the corners of the front of the canopy, install a long pipe, obliquely - a short one. Adjust the tension of the tarpaulin with the string through the holes in the top of the pipes and through the bolt.

Step 10. Install two more tubes and re-adjust the paracord. The bolts should pass through the cutouts in the tarpaulin, increasing its tension. Secure the resulting fastening with another nut so that the canvas cover does not fly off when the wind gusts.

The canopy is ready!

Today you can buy tourist tents a variety of shapes and sizes, but you can sew yourself. And the point is not that it will turn out half as cheap, but that you can sew an awning according to your requirements and do exactly as you need. Well, I just like to do everything myself, because the process itself is interesting. And today we will talk about how to sew a camping tent with your own hands.

The first thing is to find the right fabric. In smaller cities, this can be a serious problem. You don't often find tourist fabrics in stores. I had a hard time finding the green one, as I was told "tent fabric" without a name. Most likely it was Oxford. The price is 75 rubles. per linear meter was more than attractive and I bought 8 meters. Fabric width 1.5 meters. If you sew two pieces of 4 meters, just get awning 3x4 meters, which is what I need.

Please note that in stores often the fabric is not cut off, but torn off from the roll along the fibers. But the weaving of the threads in the cut does not correspond to the parallel-perpendicular axes of the roll. Thus, the torn edge of the fabric will not be perpendicular to the side of the cut. And, if you need the exact geometry of the finished product, take the fabric with a margin of at least half a meter and cut strictly at right angles.

I cut my piece of fabric in half. Along the edges there is a strip with punctures and deformation of the fabric, which remains during production. All this needs to be cut off, at least from those sides that will be sewn together in the middle of the tent. If the fabric has a front side, then fold the two pieces face to face. The bottom layer should protrude 5-6 millimeters from the top.

We wrap these 5 millimeters up and sew on a typewriter.

Then we bend the top layer towards the seam, as if unfolding the awning. And we sew so that the line goes along the edge of the wrapped strip, retreating from it 2-3 mm. For convenience, you can turn the awning over and sew from the wrong side.

The seam must be treated with some kind of impregnation so that it does not let water through. There are different recipes for self-breeding, or you can use store-bought products.

Now you need to process the perimeter of the tent. We turn the fabric from the front side to the wrong side by 5 millimeters, then we sew it again in the same way.

To make it easier and faster to install an awning, I decided to sew loops around the perimeter. I don't like eyelets in this regard. They tear out over time with a good load. The hinge points need to be reinforced. To do this, I cut out 6x6 cm squares from dense leatherette and sewed them into place under the loops.

Then he cut the same pieces of tape, which hemmed trousers, bent them and ironed them a little to fix the shape. It remains to sew the loops on the squares around the perimeter of the tent.

Here, in general, that's all. The tent is ready and you can test it in the next trip.

The awning turned out to be about 1.4 kg. weight, which is quite comparable with some store models. Spent 600 rubles. with little (2015). On time - several hours of cutting and sewing. The result, I think, is very good, except that I would like to make the weight a little less.

An awning with such an arrangement of loops can be easily installed
