To create a paper towel holder, we need: the remains of a wooden board 2 cm thick, thick steel wire, 10 self-tapping screws, a grinder, a grinding attachment for a grinder, a drill.

1. Cut out a rectangle from a board with dimensions of 33 by 10 cm.

2. Cut out 2 rectangles 10 by 12 cm. Using a grinder, cut off one corner, making it rounded.

4. We take a piece of wire 36 cm long. We wrap one edge so that we get a hook.

Necessary materials

To make a rolled paper towel holder, you will need planed pine planks. The dimensions of the homemade product are small, so you can take the remaining 15–25 mm thick trimmings from previous projects. If there is no suitable material in the home workshop, you can glue a 180 mm wide shield out of wood with your own hands or purchase a small ready-made furniture panel.

For the crossbar, a round stick with a diameter of about 25 mm is suitable, for example, from a garden tool handle. The side handles are slightly modified door handles. How to make a holder

Make two sides

Mark a sidewall with rounded cutouts on a wooden shield, cut the workpiece with a jigsaw and grind the edges with a grinder. Make the second part using the first as a template.


Mark on the inner surfaces of the sidewalls the location of the grooves, which should be 1 mm wider than the corresponding ridges on the horizontal parts. Select recesses with a slotted disc or cutter.

Take a round blank for the crossbar with an allowance of 2–3 cm in length and sand its surface. Measure the diameter of the stick and pick up a slightly larger feather drill. Mark the drilling centers on the sidewalls and make holes: on the left workpiece up to half the thickness of the material, and on the right - a through hole.

Assemble the holder parts together

Lubricate the grooves and ridges of the blanks with glue and assemble the structure. Pull the blanks with clamps and wait for the adhesive to dry completely. Then fix the handle on the left sidewall with a countersunk screw, screwing it into the bottom of the blind hole.

Make a blind hole in the right handle for the size of a round stick, limiting the drilling depth to 15 mm. Fasten the parts with wood glue.

Insert the crossbar into the holder until it stops and determine the length of the stick, taking into account that the magnet subsequently placed from the end should protrude slightly from the surface. Saw off excess wood, select a recess for the magnet and secure it with all-purpose glue.


Cover the wood with stain or varnish. After drying, fasten the holder with short screws to the bottom panel of the kitchen cabinet, and hang the roll of paper towels in place.


Our homemade product can also be mounted on the wall through the furniture corners installed inside the shelves. In this case, the top panel turns into additional storage space.

Each next disk should be glued after the glue dries, then we glue the next disk. We continue to work until the height of our base reaches 1-1.5 centimeters. Our base is ready.


Now let's start making the rod. To do this, take a newspaper, grease it with glue and turn it into a tube. It is important here not to rush, to do everything carefully. We select the diameter according to the size of the hole in the disk. Cut off the top and bottom of the resulting tube with scissors. The size is also measured in the following way: the height of the roll of towels plus 3 centimeters. When the rod dries well, we begin to glue it with a multi-colored film.
