But still, let's try to bring a program of stay for tourists from 1 to 7 days, which will be of interest to everyone. Of course, the most important and interesting - in the beginning.

1 day. Red Square and Moscow Kremlin

The duration of the walk is from 1.5 hours (if you do not go to museums) to 5-6 hours if you visit all the museums listed here.

If you have never been to Moscow, then you should start your acquaintance with the city from here. The nearest metro stations are Okhotny Ryad (red line), Teatralnaya (green line) or Revolution Square (dark blue line). Entrance to Red Square is free, but sometimes the square is partially or completely closed - for example, during the rehearsal of the Victory Parade and the Victory Parade itself. You must have an identity document with you (passport or student) and a document confirming that you have arrived recently - a train ticket or a plane boarding pass), because the favorite pastime of police officers is to check the documents of all people of "non-Moscow" appearance.

Red Square is essentially formed with the help of the following buildings: the Kremlin wall with Lenin's Mausoleum in front of it, St. Basil's Cathedral, GUM and the Historical Museum. Now in more detail about these sights.

Thanks to this roof, it is pleasant to make a promenade through cafes and boutiques in any weather. GUM delights tourists with rich decorations, footbridges that are thrown on different floors here and there. You should definitely look here if bad weather caught you on Red Square or if you get hungry - there are several relatively inexpensive cafes here. But the shops located in GUM will most likely be useless for ordinary travelers - expensive brands and boutiques of all sorts of knick-knacks are presented here.

The last major building on the square - Historical Museum. Most likely it will be of interest only to lovers of national history.

On the opposite side of the Historical Museum is Manezhnaya Square, which here and there is studded with strange domes in the style of Luzhkov / Tsereteli. These domes are light windows for the Okhotny Ryad shopping center, which is located under the square (several floors down). Partially, the shopping complex is still located above the ground - these are several cafes overlooking the Alexander Garden and the Kremlin wall. In particular, McDonald's is located here, where you can drink cola, chew Big Mac, look at the Kremlin towers and think about the fate of world politics.

You can also get to the Alexander Garden if you go to the station: Borovitskaya (gray line), Alexander Garden (light blue line), Biblioteka im. IN AND. Lenina (red line), Arbatskaya (dark blue line), forming a unique metro interchange hub, consisting of four (!!!) stations. When exiting the car, you need to follow the signs with the inscription "Exit to the Alexander Garden", otherwise you risk climbing to the surface somewhere a few blocks away and look for the Alexander Garden for another half hour.

To get inside the Kremlin, you need to buy a ticket to one of the museums. For 2016, the cheapest ticket for visiting temples on Cathedral Square costs 500 rubles for adults. Russian students, pensioners and children (under 16) can enter the Kremlin free of charge, upon presentation of the relevant documents. Preferential categories of citizens are given a free ticket, but it does not give the right to see the cathedrals and other museums of the Kremlin.

• If you arrive at Red Square by metro, then for sure your path will run through the famous station “Revolution Square”. Pay attention to the sculptures decorating the columns of the station. If classical art makes you feel despondent, you should head in the opposite direction - after a short walk along Gogolevsky Boulevard, you will give up on Arbat Gate Square. No gates have been observed here for a long time, but the famous Old Arbat (pedestrian) and Novy Arbat (noisy, with heavy traffic) streets start from here. The best time to walk along Stary Arbat street is in the evening. Street musicians, tourists, souvenir dealers and various scammers gather here.

If Red Square and the Kremlin are the ceremonial symbols of the capital, then the Arbat used to be a symbol of informal Moscow. Remember at least the famous “Song about the Arbat” by Bulat Okudzhava. Today, the Arbat is the popular popular tourist center of the city, which is filled with nesting doll shops and restaurants that have not cared about better customer service and at least some originality of their products for a long time. If you still have some strength left, you can walk to the end of Novy Arbat Street. Here is the building of the government of the Russian Federation (White House). On the opposite side of the Moscow river - one of the Stalinist skyscrapers in Moscow - the hotel Ukraine.

Those who are more interested in history should return to Kutuzovsky Prospekt and continue on their way, where you will find several sights related to the defense of the fatherland. After about 10 minutes of walking you will notice a building of an unusual round shape on the right. This is the panorama museum “Battle of Borodino”. A little further, in the middle of the avenue - Triumphal Arch in honor of the victory in the war of 1812. Here you can go through the underpass to the other side, where a huge Victory Park or Poklonnaya Gora, which is already dedicated to the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945. Your attention, for sure, will be attracted by a huge stele and fountains, which are especially beautiful at night. The extended building behind the stele is the Central Museum of the Great Patriotic War. In addition to indoors, there is an extensive open-air exhibition - Soviet, German and Japanese equipment and weapons.

Today, VDNKh is also an amusement park, where, for example, there is a large Ferris wheel "Moscow 850". Nearby is the famous sculpture "Worker and Collective Farm Girl", which has become a symbol of Mosfilm.

The easiest way to get here is by metro - the nearest station is VDNKh. Opposite the exit from the metro you will see the bulk of the hotel "Cosmos", known since Soviet times, and young people saw it in the film "Day Watch".

You can take a couple of hours to walk around the All-Russian Exhibition Center. Then you can head towards the Ostankino tower. There are several ways to get there: by taxi, trolleybus or monorail. The latter method is preferable - it is an attraction in itself. In addition, since 2013, the metro and the monorail can be traveled on the same ticket. The design of this road, which is also an observation deck, is also interesting - from here you can see the Main Entrance of VDNKh and the Cosmonautics Museum, the monument "Worker and Collective Farm Woman" and the Ostankino estate from an unusual angle.

The nearest stop of the monorail to the Ostankino Tower is Telecentre. As you might guess, there is a building nearby in which the studios of Channel One, NTV, TVC, Muz TV and other channels are located. However, from the outside, this building is very inconspicuous, much more interesting is the nearby Ostankino Tower, which is hard to miss.

Despite the high cost (for 2016 - 980 rubles), it is worth climbing to the observation deck, from where unique views of the capital open up. The entrance for sightseers is located from Novomoskovskaya street. The address is Academician Korolev Street 15, building 1. It is worth noting that in cloudy weather with low clouds it is not worth spending money on an excursion - you will not see anything, but you can really feel like a hedgehog in the fog in a famous cartoon.

On the other side of the monorail is another attraction of Moscow - the Ostankino estate. Although at the moment (2016) the palace is closed for reconstruction, you can take a walk in the park, which is especially beautiful in the "golden autumn".

Also not far from VDNKh there is an interesting attraction - Rostokinskiy aqueduct. It was built in the 18th century under Catherine II to supply the capital with water. In its appearance and design, the aqueduct is similar to the famous Roman counterparts.

If you do not like big cities, crowds of people and congestion of cars, then in Moscow there are still a couple of interesting places for you. These are the famous Moscow estates. In a sense, they are analogues of the royal estates near St. Petersburg.

Perhaps the oldest manor is Kolomenskoye. Its history goes back to the times of Ivan the Terrible. The main attraction that has remained since the 16th century is Ascension Church, which also has a unique shape of a vault in the form of a tent. By the way, there is another similar tent church only in Nizhny Novgorod. But it will most likely amaze you not with its shape, but with its size and location - on the high bank of the Moskva River. This white building looks especially impressive in cloudy weather against a gray sky.

Another attraction in Kolomenskoye is the Palace of Alexei Mikhailovich, which was called the eighth wonder of the world. But it has not survived to our times, tourists are shown a recently recreated copy.

Even in Kolomenskoye there is a huge apple orchard, especially beautiful in May during flowering, and a museum of wooden architecture, which brought various wooden buildings from all over Russia (genuine, unlike the palace).
