Light screed knauf ubo. Light cement screed Knauf-Ubo. Terms of work

Dry mix based on special cement and expanded polystyrene granules as aggregate.
It is used as an alternative to dry filling when leveling the surface of the bearing floor and in the presence of a large number of laid cables, pipelines, etc. on it.

After hardening and drying, the surface of the Knauf-Ubo screed must be covered with a hard coating, for example, Knauf dry prefabricated floors made of gypsum-fiber sheets, or high-strength screeds with a thickness of at least 35 mm. For interior work.

The temperature of the surface of the base and the air in the room must be at least +5°C. Elevated temperatures accelerate the hardening of KNAUF-Ubo mortars, while low temperatures, on the contrary, slow it down.
Rapid drying, especially at high temperatures, may cause cracks in Knauf-Ubo, but they do not reduce the performance of the leveling screed.
Lightweight cement screed KNAUF-Ubo has high thermal insulation properties.
It can be applied manually and with the help of continuously operating high-performance mortar-mixing pumps, for example, "G4" (G4), "G5" (G5) from the PFT company with a layer of 3 to 30 cm.

Dry screed ubo has a lot of advantages over other materials:

  • Ubo construction screed is made mainly from special cement mixtures with the addition of expanded polystyrene granules, due to which the composition is very light and does not overload load-bearing structures and foundations.
  • In its thickness, the screed can reach a layer of up to 30 cm, which is not allowed by any other building material.
  • It is often used in the installation of underfloor heating, as it has excellent thermal insulation qualities.
  • This material can serve as the best type of insulation against impact noise.

The Knaufubo alternative cement screed is used for leveling and filling the surface of the bearing floor with its subsequent coating.

In construction, it is often necessary to level load-bearing bases or carry out their filling. As an alternative, for these purposes, you can use knaufubo - a cement screed, which will perfectly fulfill its task. This screed is made on the basis of special cement, and the filler will be polystyrene granules in it.

At the same time, knaufubo, the price of which is 380 rubles per 25 kg, will be extremely profitable, since its consumption per square meter with a layer of 10 millimeters is from 7 to 7.5 kilograms. It is great for any kind of subfloor, even where live cables can accumulate.

Scope and installation method

Knaufubo is an excellent alternative to ties, but it is especially useful in leveling the surface of a load-bearing floor that contains a lot of electrical cables. This is possible thanks to dry backfill for leveling, but after that it is necessary to pour hard self-leveling floors or simply cover it with any hard floor coverings.

Knaufubo screed is used everywhere in the construction industry, thanks to it it is good not only to fill, but also to level floor coverings, while it will be necessary to cover this screed with any hard coating.

Knaufubo cement screed must be laid with the following criteria and rules:

  1. It is necessary to make a layer of at least 30 mm, maximum 300 mm. It should be remembered that 7-7.5 kg go to a 10 mm layer in one square. This means that approximately nine packs will be needed per 10 square meters, since the filler is packaged in paper packs weighing 25 kg.
  2. Works are carried out in the temperature range from +5 to +25 degrees Celsius.
  3. A partial load on the filler, after its application, can be done after two days.

Knauf-Ubo is a dry mix based on special cement and polystyrene foam granules as a filler. It is used as an alternative to dry backfill when leveling the surface of the bearing floor and in the presence of a large number of laid cables, pipelines, etc. on it.

It has high thermal insulation properties. Can be applied by hand or with continuous high performance mortar mixing pumps.

After hardening and drying, the surface of the Knauf-Ubo screed must be covered with a hard coating, for example, Knauf dry prefabricated floors made of gypsum-fiber sheets, or high-strength screeds with a thickness of at least 35 mm.

Foundation preparation

Terms of work

The temperature of the surface of the base and the air in the room must be at least +5°C.
Elevated temperatures accelerate the hardening of Knauf Ubo mortars, while low temperatures, on the contrary, slow it down.

Substrate surface preparation

The base surface must be dry, durable, free from dirt, dust, paints and oil stains. In the presence of capillary rise of moisture, a layer of waterproofing should be arranged. Moisture-absorbing substrates should be primed with Knauf-Tiefengrund primer. If it is impossible to lay directly on the base, Knauf-Ubo can be laid on a separating layer of waxed lining paper. In places where the Knauf-Ubo screed adjoins walls made of hygroscopic materials (brick, plasterboard sheathing, etc.), their surface should be primed or a separating tape should be used.

Work order

Solution preparation

Mix the dry mixture with water, mechanically or manually, in the ratio of 25 kg of the mixture (bag) - 9 liters of water. The addition of any other components is not allowed. When using mixing pumps, for example, PFT or similar mechanisms, adjust the consistency of the solution by changing the water flow.

Application

Apply the mortar manually or with a mixing pump evenly on the substrate until the required level is reached and level with a rule. Fresh screed must be protected from sun exposure and drafts. Rapid drying, especially at high temperatures, may cause cracks in Knauf-Ubo, but they do not reduce the performance of the leveling screed.

When the pump is stopped, hoses and instruments must be flushed within 30 minutes.

Consumption of materials

Consumption of dry mixture per 1 sq.m with a layer thickness of 30 mm - 17.6 kg.

Most cement screeds can be poured starting from the zero layer, but, in the case of UBO, everything is different. Its main purpose is floor insulation, and what kind of insulation can there be with a thickness of 1 millimeter? That's right, none, so the minimum allowable thickness of the Knauf screed layer is 30 millimeters. This is also connected with the strength of the UBO, which is only 1 MPa, in other words, the hardened Knauf screed withstands a pressure of 10 kg per 1 cm. Let's face it, the strength is not so hot, if you wish, you can push through the hole with your finger, even without being Chuck Norris. But, as they say, we love her not for this, but for the fact that the floors made with the UBO screed are very difficult to freeze, this has been personally and repeatedly verified, and the thicker the layer (the maximum allowable layer is 300 mm!), The better they are insulated floors. And given the thickness, it’s a sin not to take advantage of this and hide all communications, both wiring and pipes, to the maximum in UBO. If the height differences are not too terrible, and there is no need to hide the pipes to the floor, then you can stop at a layer thickness in the range of 100-150 mm. For example, on my balcony I pulled together a UBO 120 mm thick, and this turned out to be quite enough so that you can always walk barefoot on the floor, while there is no additional heating on the balcony. Even when it's minus 30 outside, the floors remain warm, and this despite the fact that the neighbors' balcony below is not insulated.

UBO screed consumption is very different from conventional cement compositions: 6 kg per square meter, against the standard twenty. This is due to the low density of UBO: if a cubic meter of a conventional solution weighs about two tons, then a cube of Knauf screed will pull no more than 600 kg. Let me remind you that even ordinary water has a density almost twice as high: 1 cubic meter = 1 ton, that is, UBO is so light that it does not sink in it! By the way, I tested it in practice, if I find a photo, I'll hang it here. In general, it is not surprising that this screed can be poured with a layer of up to 30 cm, because the mass of one square meter with such a thickness will be a maximum of 180 kg.
Water consumption for manual mixing (manual - in the sense of a mixer in a tub, just a UBO screed is also suitable for machine application), 0.36 liters per 1 kg, that is, 9 liters per 25 kg bag.
The optimum temperature for working with UBO is the same as for cement-sand mortars: not lower than +5°С and not higher than +30°С. The Knauf screed hardens for quite a long time, at least 48 hours, and this is only according to the official version, in reality, as a rule, longer. The time of complete hardening is 28 days, as with any mixture, the basis of which is cement.

Features of the UBO Knauf screed

Now a few words about some of the features and the so-called pitfalls.

If you didn’t have a plastering station at hand, then you will have to knead the UBO with a mixer drill. And this, in turn, means that first you need to take care of finding a large container for mixing, since an ordinary bucket is not enough here. The fact is that cement and foam plastic chips (polystyrene foam granules) in the bag are mixed, to put it mildly, unevenly, and often not mixed at all - cement from below, foam plastic from above, so pouring only part of the contents into the bucket will not work. You will get either a full bucket of cement, or granules, half of which will scatter in different directions. Neither one nor the other is good for anything, so you need to knead the whole bag as a whole, and for this you need not a bucket, but something more serious. A bag with UBO weighs 25 kg, but at the same time it never looks like bags with a conventional screed of the same weight. It looks like two bags of cement, 50 kg each - for a person unfamiliar with this matter, at first it’s even scary to approach him, let alone pick him up. However, this phobia is treated on the first try. So, 25 kg of UBO plus 9 liters of water - in the end, the volume is not 34 liters at all, but about 55-60 liters, so a bucket will need 70 liters, and even more is better. When kneading, you need to pour the mixture into water, and not pour the mixture with water, this is critical. Otherwise, instead of a homogeneous mass, you may get several liquid heaps and fireworks with snow from polystyrene granules. I think everyone imagines how an ordinary foam crumb behaves if a fan is directed at it (in our case, a mixer, but as long as the crumb is dry, it will take off just as well from the mixer), so imagine what foam granules are capable of, whose size does not exceed 1 mm. By the way, after use, it is advisable to wipe the tool thoroughly first, and only then wash it, especially if it happens in an apartment, otherwise you will wash off the remnants of UBO for a very long time, since these granules, as I said, do not sink even with cement in water and even more so individually.

Now about the setting time. The manufacturer claims that the UBO screed can be walked on two days after pouring. Well, I don’t even know, maybe it’s like that in Germany, but our practice shows that it’s better not to even try before five days later. In my memory, the shortest period was four days, only after that it was possible to enter the room without falling into the floor, and the longest - 10 days, but then, apparently, in addition to the properties of UBO, damp weather played a role, air humidity was inhuman. However, this must also be taken into account when working. So, 4-5 days after pouring, first check with your hand, and only then try stepping on the surface. Women in stilettos (if suddenly the spouse or customer came to check on how things are progressing with the repair), it is generally better not to let them in until the finishing coat is installed.

With the finish coating itself, you should not rush either. As we remember, the strength of the UBO screed is, to put it mildly, no, the adhesive ability of the surface is also not better. Therefore, the only finish that can be laid directly on this screed (through the substrate) is a laminate or parquet board. If it is planned to lay carpet, linoleum or tiles, then another screed must be made on top of the UBO - with a conventional cement-sand mixture with a thickness of at least 30 mm, or poured with self-leveling floors 20 mm thick.

Here are actually all the main points that need to be considered when working with UBO.
Well, in general, there are no complaints about the Knauf light screed - it performs its main functions, such as leveling very large differences and floor insulation, flawlessly.
