Varieties of panoramic glazing

In appearance, the windows "on the floor" perform:

standard - the most commonly used;
corner - create an unusual design, light enters the room from two adjacent sides;
bay windows - placed in a ledge, at an angle to each other;
fake - these are panels with a landscape depicted on them, backlit or made of mirrors.

Depending on the method of opening the product are:

tilt-and-turn - the sashes swing open completely or slightly open for ventilation;

Production material

Window frames are made of various materials:

metal - the most durable, reliable, withstanding the solid weight of huge glasses, usually treated with anti-corrosion compounds. The heat transfer of such a product is high, the design is rounded, in the form of an arch, it is used for glazing the largest spaces;
plastic - the item is very water-resistant, it comes out relatively cheap, not cold to the touch, but it does not look good in any interior, as it is plain in appearance;
wood - used in log houses, structures made of profiled timber. The design is environmentally friendly, energy-intensive, has a beautiful appearance, is painted or covered with transparent varnishes;
aluminum - very durable, but at the same time much lighter than steel, wooden, used in very different buildings.

Panoramic windows themselves also differ in safety of use, the level of thermal insulation of the home.

Main types:

hardened - stronger than usual about five times. They are recommended to be placed in regions where there are often strong winds;
triplex - laminated, consist of several plates fastened together with a film that provides a high level of strength;
with special film - the glass is covered with a special reinforcing film that perfectly protects against ultraviolet radiation;
energy-saving - the inner sides of the double-glazed windows are covered with the thinnest layer of silver oxide, tin, which helps to retain heat as much as possible;
tinted, reflective - designed to decorate the sunniest sides;
stained glass - colored, but as transparent as possible, used locally, as decoration.

All glasses are subject to the following requirements:

minimum thickness - from six mm .;
it is desirable that all glass in the house be shockproof, multi-format, low-emission;
the size of the air layer inside the double-glazed window - from 12 mm;
maximum transparency - compliance with class M1.

In modern times, there are special "smart windows" that have special sensors that automatically control the microclimate. They close and open themselves, are able to repel dirt and moisture, reduce and increase transparency, depending on street lighting.

Features of installing windows in the entire wall

Self-assembly of such windows is difficult, as the products are large and heavy. "Get" a house with large windows is possible in one of the following ways:

remove part of the wall in an existing building, insert a window there;
to mount the structure in a house still under construction, having previously drawn up a project.

Installation of the product by a team of builders will be expensive, therefore, with certain skills, as well as in order to save money, installation is done by hand.

How it's done:

if the work is carried out in an existing house, permission will be required to remove part of the wall, along with the window that already exists;
after dismantling the wall, a frame is inserted into the resulting opening, carefully fixed, leaving a small gap;
with an electric drill in the wall, the frame drills holes for fasteners, which will take a lot;
then the sashes are mounted, their height is adjusted, the degree of fit;
the gap between the wall and the frame is filled with mounting foam, not reaching the profile itself by one and a half to two cm;
after some time, the foam will “reach” the structure, dry out, everything superfluous can be cut off;
it is necessary to apply a vapor barrier tape to the seams, plaster the slopes, paint them.

Projects of rooms with panoramic windows

Panoramic objects are mounted in almost any room:

kitchen;
bedroom;
bathroom;
living room;
hallway;
office;
children's;
swimming pool
loggias;
balcony.

It is important that there are few large, tall items (furniture, decor) in the room that can block the view from the window, and the mess in the room does not look aesthetically pleasing when viewed from the street.

When drawing up a project involving large windows, a number of important points are taken into account:

dimensions of window openings;
what type of glazing will be - warm or cold;
frame materials;
types of glass;
ways to open windows;
the number of cameras themselves;
how structures will be maintained.

Glazing is performed using one of two technologies:

cold - windows are mounted on aluminum profiles using a frameless method. Usually, verandas of private mansions, balconies and loggias of high-rise buildings are decorated this way;
warm - during the installation process, wooden or plastic profiles are used. Similar elements are mounted in urban, rural houses, office buildings. The structure itself is assembled from two-three-chamber double-glazed windows.

Panoramic windows are made on a frame made of vinyl, PVC, aluminum, wood, reinforced metal. Prices and quality here are very different - plastic items are the cheapest, for which there are size restrictions. Wooden, made of glued beams, are many times more expensive, metal ones are the most durable.

In rainy, dusty, bird-populated places, it is most practical to install glass that repels water and dirt - you don’t have to constantly wash them.

Bedroom

Privacy in the bedroom is very important, because here a person sleeps, changes clothes, does some other things that are not customary to put on public display. Therefore, blackout curtains are hung here most often. More than one wall, it is not advisable to make glass.

The most convenient will be tape options, the most practical in terms of energy saving. Windows are placed at the level of the floor itself, a height of 60-80 cm or a ceiling. The latter option does not require curtains, it is used without them at any time. Corner structures in the bedroom are usually done if the room is north, northwest. When the windows are facing south, it will be too hot here, thick curtains will have to be used often, the light level is maximum.

Sleeping and changing areas are arranged in the farthest corner of the room, covered with a screen, a thin partition decorated with stained-glass windows.

Kitchen

In a standard kitchen, there are at least three zones - work, dining, storage. One of the places is placed by the window, while the panoramic structures themselves are very different:

to the full height of the room - for large rooms, studio apartments, private mansions with a free layout. Storage places by the window are not placed here;
the window starts at 40-55 cm from the floor. Most often used in bay windows, less often in corner kitchens, where two glass walls “meet”;
70-85 cm from the floor level - the entire space is decorated with uniform windows. Under them put a dining or work table, soft sofas;
narrow windows - tape or located immediately above the countertop. Such objects sometimes "pass" to the ceiling, providing a huge amount of daylight.

Living room

Large windows in the living room allow you to relax with friends and family, as if you were on the veranda, while being in the warmth of your own mansion. The arrangement of furniture here is the most important, but it depends on the area of a particular room. Zoning of spacious rooms is necessary - if you plan to sleep in a room, such a place is located at the maximum distance from the window. Directly next to the glass "wall" is placed a low sofa, a coffee table - there should be no major obstacles to daylight.

Sometimes the furniture is placed in a U-shape - along three walls, but excluding the window opening, completely free from closely spaced objects. In very small halls, chairs are placed by the window, if necessary, turning them to the window or back. It is also permissible to place a TV screen, a piano, a telescope, and other pleasant, functional things here.
