Content

For those who like to make various crafts, there are many ways to make a vase with your own hands from ordinary bottles. Master classes allow you to decorate things even for beginners. What can be used in bottle design? Use the instructions below to create a unique vase at home.

How to make a glass bottle vase

To make a vase from a bottle with your own hands, you first need to create a base by cutting off the neck. You can leave the blank and so, but then the bouquet will not fit in it. If you do not have a cutting tool at hand, to remove the neck you will need:

  • 0.5 m thick woolen thread;
  • matches or a lighter;
  • container with water;
  • solvent in the form of gasoline, acetone, kerosene or alcohol;
  • gloves with goggles for safety;
  • sharpening block or sandpaper.

To cut off the neck, use the following instructions:

  1. Mark a line on the bottle along which you will cut the neck.
  2. Soak the thread with solvent.
  3. Wrap the marked line 3 times with a thread.
  4. Holding the bottle horizontally, set fire to the thread.
  5. After the thread burns out, quickly lower the bottle into cold water - the glass will burst from a sharp change in temperature at the place of heating.
  6. Treat chips with a bar or sandpaper.

In decoupage technique

Today it is very fashionable in different countries to decorate bottles using decoupage technique. Its essence lies in gluing a pattern on the surface and then fixing it with varnish. Decoupage of the vase takes place in the following order:

  1. Degrease the surface of the bottle with alcohol.
  2. Cover the glass blank with white primer or acrylic paint of the same color in one layer. You can use paint to match the napkin.
  3. When the paint dries, apply PVA glue with the next layer.
  4. Apply a napkin or its cut out part. Sponge, brush or sponge, smooth out from the center to the contours.
  5. Mask too noticeable contours with paint using a sponge or brush.
  6. Finish the details, glue on rhinestones or beads, or look for a painting tutorial.
  7. Cover with 2-3 layers of varnish.

Dot painting

Spot painting bottles requires tools such as:

  • acrylic paints;
  • thin marker;
  • gold or silver outline on glass;
  • cotton buds or cotton wool with matches;
  • brushes, preferably synthetic.

To paint a homemade vase, you can choose any pattern - flowers, tree branches, an intricate pattern, children's cartoon characters or, for example, a peacock. To apply them to your bottle, follow the instructions:

  1. Degrease the surface with alcohol.
  2. Sketch on paper a sketch of a peacock, its tail - make the details richer, emphasize the beauty of the bird.
  3. With a felt-tip pen, transfer the drawing to the bottle, outline it on the glass, holding the tube at an angle, like a pencil or pen. Don't press it too hard to avoid blobs.
  4. Let the sketch dry, remove the remnants of the felt-tip pen with a cotton swab.
  5. Start filling the space of the drawing with dots of paint, making them in different sizes and colors. It is desirable that some kind of pattern can be traced. Start painting with the bird's body.
  6. In the same technique, complete the tail and wings. In feathers, leave an empty central part.
  7. Glue a glass ball into the middle of each feather or fill the space with beads. The peacock is ready.

Decorated with ribbons

Mother-of-pearl ribbons are another idea for decorating a bottle vase. The simplest option involves just a few steps:

  1. Applying glue to a small area of the bottle. Use a special composition for decoupage or PVA.
  2. Wrapping the workpiece with ribbon or threads, and both a plain vase and a colored one look beautiful. You can also take any width. Wind the tape or thread tightly - so that there is no gap.

The finished vase can be left as it is or decorated with beads with bows, and also supplemented with kanzashi technique - accessories in the form of flowers from the same ribbons. Wrap the bottle either horizontally or obliquely. In addition, a beautiful design is gluing the tape in the form of a kind of pigtail - when the ends cross in one direction for evenness of the pattern.

  3. Place a 3-liter jar on top, attach it with tape to the base.
  4. Next, decorate the vase using the papier-mâché technique - make the first layer from napkins and undiluted PVA, and the second from toilet paper with the same glue, only half diluted with water.
  5. Leave the product to dry, repair the irregularities with napkins.
  6. Make a pattern with a glue gun, glue flowers or other accessories with it.
  7. Apply an additional pattern using a stencil, napkin and putty.
  8. After applying the putty, remove the napkin immediately.
  9. Dry 1-2 hours.
  10. Go over the pattern with sandpaper.
  11. Paint everything with spray paint.

  1. Rinse the bottles, cut off the necks and cut the top into petals.
  2. Bend the petals outward and attach them to the bottle itself with glue or tape.
  3. Paint the finished vases with any colors, complement the decor with beads, beads or other accessories. At the bottom you can make holes for water to flow out, but then you need a stand.

A large floor vase adds zest to the interior, the room looks more interesting. It's even better when this vase is made by hand.

The variety of models is amazing, but one thing unites them - they are made from simple improvised materials. Anyone can make such a vase.

DIY floor vase: features

As a rule, floor vases are heavy and large. The heavier the vase, the more difficult it is to tip over and break. Therefore, if the floor vase is made with your own hands and turned out to be light, you can pour heavy stones into it. Perfect for pebbles.

Be patient, because this work is not fast, even if you decide to make the simplest model of a floor vase with your own hands, simply by decorating it. Be prepared for the fact that the product is large, it will take time to place the rhinestones and sequins in their places. Not to mention the complex elements.

Do-it-yourself floor vase: materials and methods

From the basic materials you will need scissors, glue, a vase mold and those details or substances with which you can decorate the vase.

Cardboard vase

An interesting solution was to make a vase out of cardboard. This is the most budgetary and very convenient option, because the vase can be given a variety of shapes and sizes.

Think about the size and volume of your vase. Cut out the sides of the cardboard box and tape them together. Treat the upper cut at the neck with plain, colored or paper tape so that the edge does not fluff.

Glue the vase with decorative elements. In this case, these are small pebbles planted on glue tightly to each other. One disadvantage of such a vase is that you will have to decorate the cardboard with a dense canvas without gaps. And if you suddenly decide to leave gaps, then they need to be painted over. It is impossible to prevent guests from suspecting that this is a budget version of a vase. Therefore, the cardboard should not be visible in any way.

Don't stop at just decorating a vase. Decorate it further. For example, stick dotted small and large rhinestones.

Metal-painted vase

An interesting solution was a vase painted in metallic color and aged. To work, you will need a form for a vase, small figures, details, buttons, laces, glue and paint. If you want to get the effect of an aged thing, then the paint should be of two colors of a dark and light shade that combine with each other. For example, if these are warm shades of metal, then the colors should be dark metallic and gold for an aged effect. If you have chosen cool shades, then the colors range from metallic gray to silver.

As a form for a vase, an elongated square cardboard box or a pipe from linoleum is suitable. In the second case, the vase will turn out to be round and elongated.

Treat the top edge of the vase by gluing a protruding strip, or just wrap it with tape. Paste the form with prepared small details, grouping them with a dense cover or patches, combining them with large figures.

Wait for the glue to dry before you can start painting. First apply dark paint, preferably in two layers, so that extraneous shades do not shine through. If you decide that the craft should be aged, then use a large brush with dotted strokes of light paint only over the protruding parts, creating a worn effect.

If you want the vase to be plain, then after staining you can varnish the surface. And if the vase is aged, then in this case it is not necessary to varnish, otherwise the desired effect will not work.

Take your time and wait for the vase to dry, it can take about a day.

Floor vase decorated with threads

You will need a large vessel. Also, for a form that can be decorated, a pipe from linoleum is suitable. Also stock up on threads, glue and small elements that you want to finish the composition with. For the pattern, the same thread glued over the general background, as well as buttons, rhinestones, or even voluminous flowers from threads, can be suitable. This is what a vase decorated with three-dimensional flowers will look like.

How to make such flowers will be described below, but first make the vase itself. To do this, coat the finished vessel with glue and wrap tightly with a thread. It must be applied in one layer. Let the vase dry.

If you want to decorate a vase with flowers, then they need to be made separately, and then fixed on the vase. There are two color options, these are the ones shown above and from the floss on the spring.

To make the same flowers as in the picture above, you will need a bottle, cling film, glue and thread. Put cling film on the bottle and on the film across the bottle, start making one petal for the flower. Fold the shape of an elongated drop from a piece of thread. Spread glue on the next piece of thread, a little more than the previous one, and wrap the first drop around the outer edge, repeating the shape and firmly pressing the layers of thread. You will get a drop, which with each layer of thread will become more and more.

Continue until you feel that this petal size is sufficient. Wait for the craft to dry and peel it off the bottle. You have only one petal in a curved shape following the shape of the bottle. And for a whole flower you need 4 or 5 petals. Do the same until you get the required amount.

Glue the petals to the vase and plant a large rhinestone or bright button in the center, the flower is ready. Do not stop there, make a magnificent pattern consisting of several elements.

Now consider the option of a multi-colored flower made of floss threads and springs. To do this, you will need threads of a beautiful color, a long wire, a pen and a rhinestone, either a bead or a button for the center of the flower.

Wrap the wire about 6-7 cm around the handle, you will get a spring. Connect the edges, you get the shape of a drop. Starting from the bottom, pass the thread from one end of the spring to the opposite end, rising to the top of the petal. Follow the same thread path back to the base. The petal is ready. For a whole flower, they will need 4 or 5, at your discretion. Fix the flower on a vase, glue a rhinestone or a button or a bead in the center.

Choose eco-friendly materials for a vase that will stand in a living room. You should not risk your health and put materials in the house that release toxic compounds into the air.

Be patient, because to make a beautiful vase means to make a complex product. Before getting its final appearance, the vase goes through several stages: cleaning, decorating and in some cases painting.

Choose a color scheme and material for decorating a vase that fully matches the style of the room in which you plan to put the finished floor vase. Otherwise, a feeling of disappointment may arise, and all the work will go down the drain.

Unusual glass bottles of wine often remain at home, which are a pity to throw away, but there is no use for them, and there are always a large number of plastic bottles of soda water of different colors.

Instead of getting rid of them, you can turn them not only into a practical thing - a vessel for flowers, but also create an element of interior decoration.

For those who like to make beautiful unique things with their own hands and who know how to do it from improvised material - a few ideas on how to make a vase from an ordinary bottle.

Glass bottles for handmade vases

Making a vase from a glass bottle is quite simple, you just need to know a few tricks, and then there is scope for imagination and creativity.

The first step is to make the basis for the future vase - the bottle should be cut off the throat, then it will be possible to put not one flower, but a whole bouquet in the vase.

You can do this without tools - you need to take a thick woolen thread 50 cm long, a lighter or matches, a wide vessel with water - so that a bottle can freely fit there, any combustible liquid used in everyday life - acetone, gasoline, alcohol, a bar for sharpening sharp objects or skin.

For safety reasons, you will need goggles and household gloves.

Operating procedure:

  • draw a line on the neck of the bottle where the cutting will be done;
  • soak the thread in a flammable liquid;
  • wrap it around the neck along the intended line in three turns;
  • set the future vase on a horizontal surface, set the thread on fire;
  • as soon as the thread burns out, place the bottle in ice water - from the temperature drop, the bottle will burst clearly at the place of heating.

Now it remains to sand the chips with sandpaper and start creativity - the process of decorating a vase.

Decoupage technique

The bottom line is to glue the surface with images on paper and fix them with varnish. Usually paper napkins with different patterns are used. It is done like this:

  • degrease the glass with a solvent;
  • cover the surface with a primer or acrylic paint - they can be white or the color of a napkin, which will be used for decoupage;
  • after the paint has dried, grease the places for decoupage with PVA glue;
  • attach a pattern cut out of a napkin to the areas smeared with glue;
  • with a wide brush or sponge, smooth the napkin from the center to the edges;
  • paint the edges of the napkin with paint so that everything looks neat;
  • finish the details, decorate with rhinestones or beads;
  • finish decorating the surface by covering everything with two or three layers of colorless transparent varnish.

Dot painting decoration

For this technique you will need - acrylic paint of different colors, a felt-tip pen with a thin rod, a special contour on glass - silver or gold, cotton buds, art brushes.

You can choose a drawing to your liking - a tree branch, a flower, patterns. You can draw a cartoon character, a firebird, depict a rural landscape - a house and a river.

The drawing is applied like this:

  • degrease the surface;
  • draw a sketch of the image;
  • transfer it from paper to a bottle with a felt-tip pen and circle the lines with a contour for working on glass;
  • let the image dry, remove the remaining traces of the felt-tip pen with a cotton swab;
  • fill the image space with a brush with dots of a suitable color and different sizes.

For example, if it is a peacock, then the coloring process will look like this: you need to start filling in the contour spaces with paint dots from the body of the bird.

Then color her wings and tail feathers, leaving their center unpainted.

Glue a glass shiny or mother-of-pearl ball in the center of each tail feather, you can lay it out with sequins and beads.

Ribbon decoration

A satin or mother-of-pearl vase is very beautiful, decoration is carried out with appropriate ribbons. It is done like this:

  • apply PVA glue on the surface of the bottle with a mesh in thin lines or dots;
  • tightly wrap the bottle with ribbons completely, leaving no gaps on the surface.

Ribbons can be taken in different widths, it is possible with a pattern - both a plain mother-of-pearl vase and with an ornament will look beautiful. In the same way, you can wrap the bottle with thick threads, twine.

With this technique, you can make unique vases with a textile surface.

You can wrap the bottle with ribbons obliquely, horizontally or in a pigtail - all this will create a unique pattern thanks to the light that will play on the satin fabric.

You can decorate a textile vase with beads and bows.

Vases from plastic bottles

You need regular soda bottles. Basic master class:

  • on a transparent colorless bottle, apply a top line and a contour where the “lace” will begin;
  • cut off at the intended neck;
  • vertically cut the walls of the bottle into strips down to the contour of the beginning of the "lace";
  • bend the strips out;
  • bend each strip to the middle of the length and turn it sideways in a plane so that it intersects with the two that are nearby, and reaches the next with the end - this must be done with each strip, the neck of the vase will turn out to be lace.

To make the vase colorful, insert a colored paper sheet or a napkin with an ornament inside.

openwork vase

Required - a plastic bottle, a felt-tip pen, an ordinary nail and a can of paint (you can use a regular stained glass). Then proceed as follows:

  • cut off the throat, mark with dots a pattern with a marker, which can consist not only of holes, but also of dashes - not to the very bottom, so that water can be poured into the vase;
  • heat the nail and pierce the bottle according to the applied pattern;

Paint the workpiece with spray paint or stained glass.

floor vase

An unusual floor vase about a meter high will come out of plastic milk bottles and a glass jar. You will need - 14 bottles, a 3-liter jar, paper napkins, toilet paper, glue and adhesive tape.

Manufacturing process:

  • Glue 12 bottles with the bottoms in pairs with adhesive tape, 2 - fasten them with their own necks;
  • install bottles fastened with necks in the center, surround with the remaining six pairs and glue everything with tape;
  • install the jar on the structure and tape it with tape.

Then arrange the papier-mâché frame - paste over the structure with paper:

  • the first layer - with napkins and solid PVA glue;
  • the second - toilet paper with it, but diluted with water in a ratio of 1: 1;
  • dry the product, if irregularities are obtained, fill them with napkins;
  • apply a pattern with a glue gun, you can glue flowers, butterflies, any decor, or use a stencil, sponge and putty to apply a three-dimensional pattern;
  • allow the structure to dry for an hour or two;
  • sand the patterns with sandpaper;
  • paint the product from a spray can.

small vase

To make it, you will need a 0.5 liter bottle, scissors, a knife, glue or tape.

Cut off the throat from the bottle, cut the upper part into strips, bend them outward downwards and fix them to the base of the bottle with glue or tape. Paint the vase, decorate with beads, sequins or beads.

You can also decorate such vases by gluing pasta of an interesting shape, semolina, coarse salt, shells, small pebbles.

You can paste over the bottle with narrow electrical tape with intricate patterns and paint it with a spray gun, then remove the electrical tape - you get a fancy ornament of perfectly even lines. Making vases from bottles can be interesting and useful to spend leisure time with children.

Photo of a vase from a bottle

Today, only lazy people do not improve the design of their home. Fashion trends allow satisfying the most sophisticated tastes of demanding consumers. At the same time, at all times there was a demand for decorating the interior with high floor vases. However, their affordability does not always coincide with the desired appearance. Like any other thing, a floor vase can be made by hand. Such a beauty will be in the desired shape, and in the desired color scheme, and much cheaper than their store counterparts.
Materials for work:
Glass jar with a capacity of 3 liters - 2 pcs.;
Tea saucer - 1 pc.;
Plastic container from preserves - 1 pc.;
Silicone sealant - 1 bottle;
PVA glue liquid (construction) - 1 liter;
Building alabaster - 4 tablespoons;
Potato starch - 100 gr.;
Egg lattices - 4 pcs.;
Vegetable oil - 1 tbsp;
Vaseline - 1 tbsp;
Three-layer napkins - 2 pcs.;
Plasticine - 1 box;
Old tube of PVA glue with a narrow nose - 1 pc.;
Glue "liquid nails", white and "gold" paints, blush, eye shadow, face powder, brush, colorless acrylic varnish, water.

Stages of work:
The first stage: we form the basis.
We turn one jar upside down and glue “liquid nails” to it a tea saucer turned upside down.

Glue the bottom of the second can to the bottom of the same can.

Cut off the bottom of the canning container. We glue the inverted container to the neck of the second jar.

Let the base dry for 1 day.

The second stage: we give the vase the outline of the vessel.
Finely chop the egg racks.

Fill with water so that the entire torn mass is immersed in it. We leave for the night.

We wring out the soaked grids.

Tear off large pieces. Fill the whole mass with PVA glue.

Thoroughly, until a homogeneous gruel is obtained, mix the soaked grates.

We fill the space between the neck of the jar and the container with the egg mass.

Apply a thin layer of egg mass over the entire surface of the jars.

We dry the base for 2 days.

We paint white.

The third stage: we apply a three-dimensional drawing.
Print your favorite stencil.

We make cuts along the contours, cut out the necessary points.

We place the drawing on the vessel in a checkerboard pattern in a straight and inverted form (2 times above, 2 times below; top and bottom facing each other).

Draw voids and cuts with a pencil.

Squeeze silicone sealant into an empty PVA tube.

We put a sharp nose on the tube and squeeze the sealant along the contour of the picture.

If necessary, make adjustments with a toothpick.

Dry the sealant for 1 day.

With superficial movements with a large brush, we apply blush toning on the drawing.

Fourth step: make a silicone mold.
Mix potato starch and silicone sealant.

Thoroughly knead until a pasty mass is obtained.

We coat the surface of the figure blank (in this case, a magnet) with Vaseline.

Press the pastry into the flattened dough with the right side down.

Carefully prying with a knife, we take out the workpiece.

Fifth stage: casting the figures.
Lubricate the inside of the silicone mold with vegetable oil (pour it in, then turn the mold over and pour out the oil).

Pour a tablespoon of alabaster (or gypsum) into the container.

Add a spoonful of water there, mix. If the solution becomes thick, add water.

We fill the silicone mold with alabaster solution.

We leave the solution to harden (you can check the readiness by pressing the nail on the figure - the trace should not remain on the surface). We pry the figure with a knife and take it out of the mold.

We repeat the preparation of the solution and pouring 3 more times.

Sixth stage: paint the angels.
We paint over the blanks with white gouache.

The bodies of the angels are matted with face powder.

We dye our hair.

We draw sponges.

Draw the eyelids and eyebrows with a pen.

With white gouache we close the extra layer of powder (next to the bodies of the angels).

Draw the wings in gold.

We apply “liquid nails” on the back surface of the figurines and glue them on the vase.

Step 7: Make roses.
We knead the plasticine, lay it on a hard surface with a thin plate, cut it into squares. In each square we make cuts in a circle from the center.

Gently prying the central center, twist the spiral, moving from the center to the edge. We bend the square corners like large leaves.

We paint the roses white.

We tint them with blush in the color of the volumetric pattern.

The edges are gilded.

"Liquid nails" fasten the roses to the vase.
