Do-it-yourself wardrobe assembly scheme in 5 steps

Out of a desire to save money, people often buy disassembled cabinet furniture in the hope of assembling it themselves. Indeed, there are instructions in any kit, but in reality, the sliding wardrobe assembly scheme has many nuances, and so that at the end you don’t have “extra parts” and the cabinet turns out to be durable, we will analyze the whole process in detail and for convenience we will break it into 5 steps.

Tool and preparation for assembly

You won’t need too many tools, but you won’t be able to get by with one screwdriver either, manufacturers give out a kit with 90% readiness, the remaining 10% are written off for fitting furniture to a specific place.

  • Confirmed key, manual hexagon (often included);
  • Steel hammer;
  • Rubber mallet;
  • Screwdrivers - Phillips and straight;
  • Roulette;
  • Awl;
  • Confirmed drill;
  • Drills for metal - 4 mm and 6 mm;
  • Screwdriver;
  • Square;
  • Pliers;
  • Level (regular bubble).

Now we need to prepare the workplace, on the assembly site the cabinet should fit in any position - along, across, diagonally and even lying down. All this is necessary so that you can fix the back shield from fiberboard, and then get out of there and slide the cabinet into the place intended for it.

Do not rely on the fact that the set is fully equipped, be sure to check the availability of all the details when buying, the furniture is assembled manually at the factory and the human factor must be taken into account.

Assembling a closet in 5 steps

Furniture in the public sector is made either from chipboard or laminated MDF, it is not difficult to assemble these cabinets by hand, but it is advisable to take care of an assistant, at least for support.

Step 1: Base Assembly

In this case, we need to install the legs on the base plate and fix the fittings for the subsequent installation of the vertical walls of the cabinet.

Illustrations Recommendations

Legs marked.

In some models, the legs are not provided at all, they are installed on stands made of the same chipboard, but more often there are adjustable legs in the kit.

Here you need to look at whether holes are provided for these legs in the base plate, if they are there, then assemble them according to the diagram shown in the photo on the left.

Legs not marked.

This situation occurs in budget models. You need to mark the points for mounting and screw the legs with self-tapping screws to the base.

According to the rules, on the front side the legs are installed at a distance of 70 mm from the edge, and from the back 50 mm from the edge.

Mounting hardware.

The vertical walls are fixed with pins for minifixes, the standard diameter is 4 mm, but there are other models.

Pin mounting.

There are pre-drilled holes in the base for these pins, you just need to take a tool and screw them in.

The same pins are mounted in the top cover, in order not to waste time later, it is better to screw them into a rhinestone into both plates.

Step 2: assemble the case

If up to this point you could do everything yourself, now it's time to call an assistant. It is needed to maintain the walls in a vertical state. It is not worth fixing the cage to the base right away, first install the shelves so that the cage stays on its own.

Horizontal shelves are assembled using furniture confirmers, they are also called euroscrews. In ready-made sets, the holes for them are already drilled, you only need to insert the confirmant into these holes and screw tightly with a hex key, then cover the head with a plastic plug.

It is better to screw the confirmants manually with a key; when using a screwdriver, you can overtighten and strip the thread.

Now it's time to firmly attach the cage with shelves to the base and top cover. For these purposes, the so-called minifixes are used, they are something like a “pill” with an eccentric inside.

The furniture minifix diameter is 16mm, when you install the vertical posts on the pins, the pin head will be visible in the side hole of the post. A minifix is inserted into this hole and rotated clockwise.

Thus, the two elements are tightly pulled together. At the same time, the technology is the same, both for fixing the base and for fixing the top cover.

Step 3: back wall

The back wall in such cabinets is made of painted hardboard (dense fiberboard). Sheets are cut on machines, so there is no doubt about their forms, the problem is that the back wall is typesetting, that is, it is assembled from several sheets, so the assembly takes place in 3 stages:

  1. First you need to check how smoothly you assembled the box. To do this, we use the old-fashioned way - we measure the diagonals. The size of both diagonals must be the same. If something is wrong, we check the tightness of the minifixes, usually small deviations are caused by an uneven screed;
  2. Now call an assistant and ask him to hold the box in the right position (so that it does not skew in any direction). At this time, you yourself apply the bottom panel of the hardboard to the back wall and nail it to the racks with carnations or fasten it with small self-tapping screws;
  3. Then you put a plastic H-shaped connecting profile on the installed panel and mount the next one in the same way. The minimum pitch for fixing panels on racks is 100 mm, well, this is up to you, for example, in Soviet cabinets, the back wall was fixed with self-tapping screws with a pitch of 30 mm.

Step number 4: installation of rails for doors

Before mounting guides for sliding doors, the base of the cabinet should be set clearly on the horizon, with level control. This can be done with adjustable legs.

Illustrations Recommendations
Equipment.

In budget models, roller doors are used based on the lower rail, rollers drive along it.

Above are W-shaped profiles that control the movement of the door leaf.

Fixing top profiles.

All profiles come without mounting holes, you will need to drill them with a drill with a diameter of 4 mm.

Then screw the profile with self-tapping screws to the top cover of the cabinet.

We put stoppers.

Stoppers are needed so that the door rollers are fixed in them and the doors do not move apart spontaneously.

You just need to take the pliers and insert the latch into the groove of the profile.

Bottom profile fixing.

The instruction is similar: drill holes with a diameter of 4 mm and fasten the profile to the base with self-tapping screws (the stoppers should already be in place).

Step number 5: installation of auxiliary fittings and doors

Illustrations Recommendations

Hardware installation.

Flanges for a horizontal bar under the trempel are screwed at a distance of 270 mm from the rear wall.

Microlifts and guides for drawers are screwed onto self-tapping screws according to the scheme of a specific cabinet model.

Roller adjustment.

There are special screws for adjusting the lower support rollers. They are located inside the structure and you can get to them with the help of a hexagon, as in the diagram on the left.

Stopper adjustment.

The stopper moves easily in the groove with a screwdriver or an awl. Determine the point at which the roller will be located, and move the stopper there.

shockproof tape.

When everything is assembled and adjusted, take a soft shockproof tape and glue it to the end of the door profile.

Conclusion

Although there are many models of sliding wardrobes, the scheme of actions described above is suitable for most of them, only dimensions and minor details change. The video in this article shows the whole process in more detail. If you have any questions, write in the comments, I will try to help.

Self-assembly of furniture helps to save a lot of money. It is good if a person has simple skills in assembling objects. It will be useful for beginners to learn how to assemble a sliding wardrobe on their own. Step-by-step installation steps for each element of the product will allow for quick installation.

Among all types of products for storing clothes, the sliding wardrobe occupies a leading place today. It is multifunctional, roomy, available in different shapes and sizes, and does not require additional space to open the doors. That is why most people, when choosing between a wardrobe and a wardrobe, prefer the latter option.

Assembling a sliding wardrobe with your own hands in the video presented is quite simple - for this it is enough to have the necessary tools in the apartment and be familiar with the design of the product. Often, when ordering a cabinet without the services of assemblers, companies send a document containing a drawing of the product. It also lists all the component parts, which are numbered in order. Looking at the picture and comparing the elements of the cabinet, you can intuitively assemble the product.

To work according to the wardrobe assembly scheme, you will need the following tools:

  • building level - to check the evenness of the installation parallel to the floor;
  • corner;
  • rubber and regular hammer;
  • straight and Phillips screwdriver;
  • roulette;
  • pencil and ruler;
  • screwdriver;
  • wood drill - to make holes;
  • drill for metal - for installing an aluminum base.

Of the additional tools for assembling furniture, a jigsaw, a drill and sandpaper can come in handy. It is also necessary to prepare all the details of the cabinet, which means checking the diagram for the correct number of items. Pay attention to fittings and mechanisms: if there are drawers in the closet, ball guides should be included in the package.

Doors for the product are often supplied ready-made. They are pre-installed with rollers and a strip of soft material. It is necessary to mount the door in the final phase.

Instruments

Assembly steps

To know how to get started, you should familiarize yourself with its stages. Most sliding wardrobes are assembled according to the following algorithm:

  • plinth;
  • frame;
  • installation of the back wall;
  • installation of shelves and guides;
  • sliding door installation.

After the completed stages, the introduction of internal additional elements is carried out. These include pull-out baskets, drawers, rods, hanging hooks and pantographs. Consider the installation of each element of the cabinet separately.

Assembly steps

plinth

The assembly of sliding wardrobes, the video of which is presented below, starts from the bottom, which accounts for the entire load during operation. We find a part that will perform this function, and put it in front of us. In order for the process to go correctly, we use tools such as screwdrivers or a screwdriver, a hexagon, a pencil and a tape measure for marking. Also check the package for the presence of self-tapping screws and special camouflage plugs.

The algorithm of actions looks like this:

  • on the details for the bottom, a place is marked for installing the base;
  • sometimes, instead of plinths, adjustable legs are used, a place for which also needs to be marked;
  • drill holes for fasteners;
  • we attach the bottom to the slats with the help of confirmations (corners) - for this, self-tapping screws and a screwdriver are used;
  • we assemble the transverse supports of the base, designed for stability.

Some products, such as phoenix coupe models, require installation with adjustable feet. This is easy to do: the plastic plugs are cut off with a knife, and the legs themselves are screwed into holes prepared at the bottom with a diameter of 10 mm.

Depending on the size of the assembled wardrobe, the number of legs will be adjustable. So, for large planes, more than 6 support elements will be required.

Frame

Before disassembling and assembling wardrobes from scratch, it is important to familiarize yourself with the general structure of the existing product. Carefully study the diagram, because the assembly of the case must ensure the safe operation of the cabinet. From how securely it is installed, the stability of the internal elements will matter.

In order for the assembly of furniture to be accurate, you should additionally check the floor surface for evenness. Use the building level: if there are differences on the floor, tighten the adjustable legs. Only then assemble the product box.

To properly mount the case, follow these steps:

  • it is better to assemble the product while standing, because it is very difficult to mount a perfectly fitted cabinet in a lying position. But it is important to remember that for a complete assembly, a minimum of 100 mm must be left for roof mounting;
  • in the part that is responsible for the bottom, you must first drill a few holes and insert the anchor. Rack strips will be mounted on the installed fasteners;
  • installation of standing panels is carried out together: in order not to get confused, you can view the instructions for assembling the sliding wardrobe, presented in the video. First, the left sidewall is inserted, one person holds it while the second one inserts the right sidewall;
  • at the next stage, the middle stand is mounted, if it is present. After its installation, the installation of the roof takes place. If the cabinet is assembled in a standing position, then this part will be fixed correctly on the corners or confirmations.

It is a little more difficult to assemble a maestro model wardrobe with many functions. Its installation is carried out slowly, preferably by several people.

Fastening takes place with euro screws

Installation of the side and inner walls of the cabinet

The base is connected to the body with the help of confirmatory corners.

Back wall installation

To assemble the compartment yourself, in particular, to attach the back wall of the product, you need to correctly select consumables - fasteners. Often, assemblers use incorrectly selected consumables, due to which, over time, the fiberboard panel moves away from the furniture product. In Soviet times, hardboard was assembled on the back wall with the help of nails, which is undesirable today.

For greater reliability, attach the fiberboard wall to the cabinet using self-tapping screws. This is how the product will not be damaged during operation.

When assembling furniture for yourself, it is important to carry out a high-quality assembly of a sliding wardrobe with your own hands: the video below clearly shows all the complex nuances. Perform the following manipulations:

  • put the hardboard panel behind the cabinet;
  • holding the sheet with your hands, use short self-tapping screws and use a screwdriver or screwdriver to screw them in at a distance of 10-20 cm.

If the cabinet has several rear walls at once, they must be fixed end-to-end. Use special tightening fasteners, then screw the screws onto the back of the middle bar.

Rear wall fixing

Installation of shelves and rails

In order not to have to disassemble the product and redo your work, check the reliability and stability of the frame, and then proceed to filling with internal elements: shelves, rods, drawers and guides. You can engage in self-assembly of the sliding wardrobe using the video, which is at the bottom of the article. It visually provides information about all the important points of the process.

You should pay attention to such nuances:

  • shelves can be fastened using corners and self-tapping screws. For this, the parts themselves already have drilled holes. We first note the distance between the shelves and fasten them to the sidewalls and the central standing bar;
  • first, the upper rails for the doors are installed, after which the lower rails are mounted. It is worth emphasizing that the installation of these elements must be carried out strictly in a straight line - the correct course of the doors will depend on this;
  • the bar is installed on special flanges that come with it in the kit. If necessary, the length of the pipe is filed with a hacksaw for metal. If a Fortune model cabinet is being assembled, you should pay attention to a large number of elements and not confuse them;
  • drawers and drawers are inserted into the product after attaching the mechanisms for their operation.

Before you mount the internal filling yourself, check the availability of all fittings and consumables.

Before installing the guides, it is necessary to correctly position the stopper

Sliding wardrobe - one of the most convenient and compact ways of storage of things. It has small shelves for light items of clothing, and large ones for more voluminous things, there are ski storage compartments, a compartment equipped with a bar for outerwear, etc.

Sliding doors, which do not require space for opening, give compactness to the cabinet; they move on special rollers located inside the structure of the door itself. Even an inexperienced person in such matters can assemble such a cabinet, since the assembly principle is quite simple and does not require the use of special tools.

We read the instructions and sort the parts

First you need to carefully read the instructions and deal with the individual details - find the lower and upper elements, side racks, internal partitions.

If you mix up at least one part, then you are guaranteed to have to disassemble the newly assembled structure and mount everything again. Therefore, it is so important at the initial stage to correctly determine the location of all parts of the cabinet.

Assembling the frame

Install the base (bottom element) first.

As a rule, this plate is attached to stands located along the long side with the help of confirmations (these are the so-called euro screws, which have a recess in the cap for a special hex key).

Installing interior partitions

At the bottom end of the partitions there are holes into which dowels must be inserted before installation.

A dowel (chopic) is a small piece of a round rod used to strengthen wooden joints.

There are non-through holes in the bottom plate, which are designed for such dowels. Aligning the dowels and holes, we install the vertical partitions in their place (here you will need an assistant).

We fix the shelves

Now, in order to prevent the structure from loosening, we mount the shelves, which in this case work as stiffeners.

We fix them with the help of confirmations.

Fasteners at this stage must be wrapped to the end, leaving no free play.

We carry out the installation of side racks and top cover

Now the final part of the frame assembly is the installation of the side racks and the top cover. All three elements must be installed at the same time.

Although this action depends on the design features and the location of the attachment points on these parts. First, we install the sidewalls, fastening them at the bottom with the base with confirmations.

Then we put the lid on top, combine the holes in all the details and also wrap the fasteners. Here you need to leave a little free play, as you will need to align the entire frame.

Aligning the structure

The alignment process consists of the following steps. It is necessary to measure first one diagonal with a tape measure, then the second one and, by the difference in values, determine in which direction you need to “squeeze” (move) the top of the cabinet so that its corners are perfectly straight.

Now you can wrap the confirmations to the end with effort.

Nailing chipboard sheets

The next step in the assembly will be nailing the fiberboard sheets to the back of the cabinet.

These sheets will not only serve as a back wall, but also reliably keep the structure from loosening for the entire period of operation.

As a rule, canvases have a decorative treatment on the front side in the form of a laminated colored surface. Sheets are fastened with small nails, which must be hammered into the ends of all cabinet elements (racks, partitions, shelves).

Here it is important to guess the place of nailing, because the details of the cabinet are not visible from the reverse side, and the damage resulting from the wrong choice adversely affects the appearance of the product.

We place the rails - guides

Now the most crucial moment is the installation of the lower and upper rails for the doors. The bottom rail has two grooves for the movement of the rollers:

And the top is divided into two sections:

In both, you must first drill holes for the screws to attach them to the base and cover.

Holes must be chamfered for screwing flush.

It is enough to make 4 holes in each bar. We fix the bottom rail first, marking the corresponding attachment points.

The distance from the edge of the base to the leading edge of the rail should be 2.5 cm.

In order for the doors not to jam and they move evenly, it is necessary to install the cabinet strictly horizontally, which can be done using the usual building level.

The longer the level, the more accurate the horizontal indicators will be.

The upper rail is attached in the same way, with the only difference being that you need to drill holes in a checkerboard pattern in both compartments.

Screws from the kit supplied with the cabinet are used as fasteners.

From the front end of the top cover to the beginning of the rail edge, the distance should be 2 mm.

Installing rods and fittings

The final construction step will be the installation of a bar to accommodate outerwear.

First you need to mark the attachment points for one holder (it is attached with 3 screws), drill holes and tighten the screws.

Then install the second holder on the rod, pressing it with a screw.

The assembled structure must first be tried on, aligning it horizontally, and then outlined and attached with the same self-tapping screws.

We hang doors

Before this stage, you need to check the gutters in the lower bar for debris that will interfere with the movement of the rollers, once again make sure that the planes are horizontal and check all connections for rigidity.

The door is first inserted into the top rail.

And then the end rollers must be placed in the groove of the lower rail.

Thus, all 4 doors are installed (the main thing is not to confuse the pattern).

In principle, there is nothing complicated in the installation of a sliding wardrobe. You just need to take a responsible attitude to all stages of its assembly, and then you will find not only advanced training as a home craftsman, but also gratitude for saving the family budget.

Assembly completed - result in the photo

Hello again. Today we will assemble our wardrobe, we will do this according to the instructions below.

So, we took the parts from the cut. We ourselves did not want to glue the edge, so we ordered gluing in the same place, especially since the price of gluing is not so big.

We also bought all the necessary fittings for the cabinet and the necessary fasteners.

The floor turned out to be not quite even, so the cabinet had to be made not on a plinth, but on adjustable legs; accordingly, the detailing was also slightly redone.

The introductory part is over, let's start assembling.

Instructions for assembling the wardrobe

The procedure for assembling the wardrobe will be as follows.

You need to start assembling from the bottom of the cabinet, namely from assembling the base and installing the legs.

We take the part, which is called the bottom, and mark its underside for the installation of the base and legs as shown in the diagram below:

The plinth can be fixed to the bottom with the help of mini fixes (eccentrics, rastexes - whoever calls it), confirmations or ordinary plastic corners.

Since this will still be an invisible zone, and the cabinet will not stand on the plinth, but on legs, I decided to fix the plinth with plastic corners. I fixed the legs with screws 3.5 * 30.

Only when you screw the legs - do not overdo it (you can twist it, and the sharp part of the screw will come out from the back).

We fasten the four parts of the base to each other with the help of confirmations. For convenience, take yourself an angled clamp. You can use .

Do not twist the corners of the front plinth, as you have to remove it to adjust the legs.

We will fasten the sides to the bottom and roof with minifixes. They are great for fastening perpendicular parts, and they also manage to completely hide the fastener.

If space permits, it is convenient to assemble the sliding wardrobe lying on the front and fasten it with the help of confirmations. But since I didn’t have free space in the room, I had to assemble it while standing, and use eccentrics (rastexes, minifixes) as fasteners.

At the bottom and on the roof of the cabinet (on the inside) we mark the holes for installing the minifix rod.

Before installing the sidewalls, using a level, the bottom of the wardrobe must be leveled as evenly as possible. Just lean on the level and adjust the legs to the maximum horizontal position.

Now you need to mark the sidewalls, the holes must exactly match the installed rods on the bottom and roof. In the sidewalls, you will need to do two different drillings in two different planes.

The first hole is made under the metal eccentric, which will tighten the stem, it is made in the inner side of the sidewall, with a special cutter 15mm, at a distance from the end edge to the center of 34mm (this is if the stem has a total length of 44mm, like mine).

In general, when landing a part on a rod, its head should look out by 6 mm. If you are installing minifixes for the first time, practice better on rough parts, so you will feel more confident when assembling.

The second hole is made at the end of the part, with a 6-6.5 mm drill, strictly in the center (8 mm from the edge).

For a more detailed understanding of this assembly step, you can use our materials on.

  • When you have made all the necessary holes, do not rush to immediately install the sidewalls and the roof.
  • To give the structure initial rigidity, immediately assemble the central partition with the upper shelf (we fix it with confirmations).
  • At the next stage, we need to put the sidewalls, the back wall of the console and the assembled T-shaped partition on the lower rods, tighten with eccentrics, and fix the upper shelf to the sidewalls (confirmations). Use an angle clamp for support.
  • Next, we fix the roof, and check the verticality with the help of a level.
  • If everything is fine, to ensure additional rigidity, we install additional shelves with the help of confirmations.
  • Now, with 3.5 * 16 screws we fasten the back wall of the fiberboard. We start from the top two corners, and after perfect alignment, we begin to drive screws all over the box, in 15-20mm increments. You should also fix the fiberboard to the central partition and the top shelf.

The hardest part of the job is over. We put the cabinet in its place, once again check the position of the cabinet in terms of level and proceed with the installation of shelves, hangers and drawers.

Shelves can be made both rigid (secured with confirmations) and removable (on shelf holders).

In order to have fewer hole plugs on the visible side of the closet, I decided to install the shelves on the shelf supports.

Everything is simple here. On the sidewall we mark the desired height, with a 4.5-5 mm drill we make NOT a through hole, up to 8 mm deep and hammer the shelf support there.

Modern interior designs most often include the use of built-in appliances and furniture (wardrobes, beds, tables, etc.). This solution helps to significantly save space even in the smallest apartment or house. Built-in wardrobes of various models made of natural and artificial materials (plastic with a metal frame, real wood) are very popular in interior design. If you are repairing an apartment / house on your own, then you just need to know how to properly assemble the closet with your own hands, without the involvement of specialists. • electric drill with wide functionality
  • to drive screws, you will need different bit-type drill bits to save time and not screw in screws with screwdrivers
  • 35 mm wood drill and counterborer
  • special drills for working on metal (on 2-10 mm)
  • victorious drill on 1 cm to make holes in the walls
  • jigsaw (preferably powered by electricity, 600 kW, for quick filing of coupe parts)

We assemble a wardrobe with our own hands: step by step instructions

The best option for assembling cabinets of different models is not one way, since the difference in design requires different approaches to assembling and disassembling built-in furniture. How to assemble a classic-type coupe is indicated in the following instructions.

Preparatory stage.

You need to familiarize yourself with all the details of the product (so as not to confuse anything during the assembly process and not have to start all over again), prepare the tools and the place where the assembly and installation will take place. Assembly of any furniture is made in a horizontal position.

The first stage - we assemble the podium (base and legs).

On the part that is the bottom of the cabinet, we make markings at right angles (confirmations) so as to ensure optimal emphasis over the entire area. We mount the base with dowels and minifixes, then we hammer in the supporting nails. If there is a plinth, it must be cut, as it is necessary that the podium fits very tightly against the back wall.

The second stage - we install the side parts of the cabinet (if they are in this model).

Initially, it is necessary to cut the sides so that they freely and tightly lean against the back wall (it is advisable to even grind the back walls of the ends). To place the side parts perfectly vertical, use a level.

If the coupe model does not have side parts and is designed to be placed between the walls, then at this stage you need to make a markup under which the shelves will be attached, also using a level. We make holes in the walls with a puncher (below the level marking), insert fasteners into them and fix the corners. We place shelves on the corners, we also fix them. Next, install the rear racks at the level of the shelves.

The third stage is the installation of drawers, rods.

We install guides on the drawers, retreating from the edge by 10-15 cm, since in most models of wardrobes, drawers are made with inset facades. On the side panels we attach the response mechanism. Installing facades. We fix the bar on which the clothes will be hung on the hangers until the installation of the boxes is completed.

The fourth stage is the installation of the door.

We take measurements of the cabinet from the inside and mark the mounting levels of the rails on the floor (podium) and the top panel. Before fixing the floor guide, we also insert a stopper into the holes of the marks, which fixes the door when closing.

We begin the installation of the door by fixing the guides - the top one needs to be slightly raised and lowered to the bottom one. We adjust the rollers in the lower part through the end holes. That's it, the door is installed.

The final stage.

Fastening hooks on the outside of the side panels, if it is in the cabinet project, as well as cleaning the furniture collection area. After that, you can safely place all the necessary clothes in the compartment without fear that something will fall off the furniture or clothes will be damaged - if you acted according to the instructions, such cases are not expected.

For each model of the wardrobe, the manufacturer provides a scheme for its assembly, so if you are not sure that you are following the assembly steps correctly, periodically check with the scheme. In addition, there are many demonstration lessons on how to assemble a wardrobe: video, audio materials, etc. You can also consult an experienced specialist if you have problems with measurements and the correct choice of the location of the product.

High-quality built-in furniture always fits well into the interior, so before starting the collection, decide on the place in the apartment where it (furniture) will stand. Use the knowledge that you have gained after reading this article, additional information materials, the services of specialist consultants and easily assemble or disassemble cabinets of any model with your own hands.
