Do-it-yourself trading tent. Single tent with your own hands. Do-it-yourself frame tent for winter fishing

Summer and holidays are the perfect combination for a backpacking trip. Hiking, camping, songs and stories by the fire, what could be better? But, of course, you should prepare in advance for and find out how to make a tent with your own hands.

The photographs below illustrate the process of cutting and sewing a tourist tent that can provide shelter for three people. For work, prepare 23 m of raincoat fabric (it is best to give preference to green). The photo below shows the layout of the fabric for cutting, as well as the symbols.
The following photo shows the fabrication of the parts.

When all the details are done, then you can start assembling do-it-yourself tents. The very first to sew the ends and sides together (seam W-5 or W-2), the bottom will be fixed next (W-5 or W-2), the last will be the tent W-1. Sewing on the awning will be quite difficult due to its impressive size, which is why it is best to pre-mark the line of the line with chalk. And then lay a manual line. Put your imagination to work and use all the possibilities for making pockets, pegs, racks and a cover.

The mass of the resulting product will be about 5 kg, if this weight is critical for you, then you can reduce it by 2 kg using nylon fabric for sewing. But at the same time, keep in mind that it will be more expensive than raincoat. In order for the tent to take on a more formal look, you can make all the seams Sh-1 (sew along the “face”, and then sew a keeper tape on it).

To work with raincoat fabric, use needle No. 120 and thread No. 30, for work with rubberized nylon - nylon thread K-20 or K-40. This choice is due to the fact that moisture can accumulate in places where seams are laid and cotton threads will literally rot soon. To combat water condensation, it is recommended to place windows at different heights. For stitching, use a Class 1022 industrial sewing machine.

On winter fishing you can not do without a comfortable and spacious tent - this is especially felt when the fishermen are waiting for a bite in severe frost and windy weather, sitting for hours at the hole. Those who have a tent are lucky, they can warm themselves in it from time to time. But today a good tent costs quite a lot of money, and what is the solution for those who cannot afford to buy it? Here you will read about how to make a tent yourself. This process does not require special skills and knowledge.

Usually, tents that anglers make with their own hands must be placed in a fishing box. By the way, you can also make the box yourself (you can also read about this on our website), which is what many fishermen do, although it is commercially available.
In addition to the box itself, you must use accessories from this list:
two pairs of skis, one pair of children's skis, one pair of school skis;
tubes (here you can use ski poles);
unnecessary folding bed;
canvas or other heavy fabric.

Do-it-yourself winter tent: drawings

Step-by-step instructions for making a winter fishing tent

Since the ski poles will serve as a frame, we install them vertically. The tubes that we will place vertically should be thinner. At the corners, the frame is fastened with tees - their diameter must correspond to the diameter of the vertical and horizontal tubes.
The next step is to attach the vertical tubes to the skis. We fix a metal plate on the ski, insert it into its T-shaped tongue - it is fixed at the lower end of the tube. To fix the stick, just turn it 90 degrees.
We take an old folding bed, prepare two sticks - they will serve as a connection between the frame and the box. We take a bent tube, at the end of which there is a docking station. At the other end of the tube there is a latch - this is the fastener for the docking station.
We make a spring from a copper strip that connects the box and tubes. The last step is to tension the awning. At the bottom of the tent we fix metal strips with holes. In these holes, you need to stretch the brackets that are fixed to the ends of the skis. We connect the awning with brackets using ropes. To make the tent stable on ice, we equip it with two anchors.

If we do not fix the tent on the ice, then the slightest movement - and the tent will "ride" in any direction, especially if the wind is blowing. Therefore, we need to prepare special pegs with a thread located at the end. They can be made from long and strong self-tapping screws, bending the top into them to make a hook. You can also go to a hardware store - you will usually find threaded hooks of any size.

Self-made tent in the form of a house

Consider another type of tent, which is also often used by fishermen in winter - these are tents in the form of a house.
To make such a tent, you need to take:
waterproof fabric - 14 square meters;
metal washers with a diameter of 1.5 mm - up to 20 pieces;
braided rope - 15 m;
tape of small width - 9 m;
rubberized fabric on the bedding - 6 m.

When we have prepared all the materials, we proceed to the manufacture of the tent. It will be designed for one or two people. First, we cut out 2 pieces of fabric that are the same size - 1.8x0.9 m. On the long side we make a markup of 65 cm, we do the same on the other side. Cut the fabric at the connection points. So it turns out the entrance and the back wall of the tent.

Setting up a winter tent on the ice

To assemble a homemade ski tent, it will take quite a bit of time:
We connect skis with fixed tongues to the halves of the tubes, which are located parallel to the skis. We send them inside the tent.
Each pair of bent tubes must be passed through special holes that are located on the ski racks.
We connect the skis to each other in such a way that a triangle is formed.
On the structure obtained in this way, you need to install a fishing box.
Vertical racks are installed at the ends of each ski - 4 pieces.
With the help of tees we form a roof. We install them on each of the vertical racks.
We take horizontal tubes and finish the formation of the frame.
We throw fabric on the frame - it must be fixed using short ropes.

To disassemble such a tent, we perform all the steps, only in reverse order. To simplify the assembly and disassembly of the tent, number each of the structural elements. This way you save valuable time.

Alternatives

Oilcloth

Those who do not have a winter fishing tent can use the most common oilcloth. In this case, the angler himself will act as the frame. However, it must be remembered that if during fishing it is very active to cut, then after such movements the oilcloth can simply fly off. An ice ax or a pick stuck in the ice can serve as a stand. We bend the lower edge of the oilcloth inward and fix it with any suitable objects that are at hand.

Tourist tent option

Those who have a tourist tent can use it for winter fishing. Well, if it will provide a bottom. To use such a shelter for winter fishing, you need to modify it a little. We make a U-shaped cutout at the bottom - through it we gain access to the holes. It will be more convenient if you sew a zipper there. A tourist tent is usually cheaper than a specialized fishing tent - you can use it for winter fishing, and directly for tourism.

Almost every one of us went on a hiking trip or went out with an overnight stay in nature. Or to events. And at this moment it is simply necessary to have a tent with you, which is a temporary dwelling, which is being built in the form of a collapsible device. It is designed to be where to hide from adverse weather conditions, as well as temporarily accommodate people.

Is it possible to sew a tent at home, for example in an apartment, with only a sewing machine? Let's try.

First we need to decide what type of tent we need. You can find many different types on the net, but the most practical (in my opinion) is a tent house. Why? Yes, because such a tent is easier to sew, due to the fact that its roof protrudes along the edges and if you miss somewhere (and you will miss anyway) with the dimensions of the walls or in the process of work, this protruding stock will forgive you everything. In addition, the area is more rationally used in the tent house.

Here is an example: two tents having the same width and height. Comments are superfluous.
Another point: these tents are historical, that is, they can be used in reenactment activities.

What do we do next? That's right, any work begins with the construction of a working drawing. You must decide what size your brainchild will be and accordingly calculate how much material you will need. Having a general view drawing, draw individual details (patterns), which you will then sew together.

IMPORTANT: when drawing patterns of parts, do not forget about allowances for stitching and tucking edges! Also, do not forget to make the height a little more than necessary, so that the lower edges of the walls lie on the ground. So that it does not blow from below. I think you can easily handle this. If you need to calculate the length of the hypotenuse - here you are Link is visible only to registered users .

Next comes the choice of tarpaulin. I will not focus on this issue, because on the Internet you yourself can easily find the information you need. Whether you buy it or get it by your own methods is up to you.

So, there is a tarpaulin, the drawing is ready. Let's get down to practical work. Cut it and sew it. This is an individual matter, depending on what kind of tarpaulin you will have. Large piece or ribbon.

Let's define the names of the parts:
1. Roof
2. Front wall (entrance)
3. Back wall
4. Left wall
5. Right wall

Details can be made by you from a single piece, or can be sewn from several parts. In the second case, pay attention to the direction and correctness of the seams. For example, in the roof, the seams should be vertical. Direction along the flow of water. To keep water from leaking. If the seams are horizontal, then tuck them so that the water also drains, and does not flow into the seam.

I chose the following stitching method: First, I sewed the front and back walls to the roof. Then the side ones. Then I sewed all the walls together. At the end, I sewed the necessary loops (eyelets) and tied the ropes.

An important point: all gadgets (pockets, hooks, windows, pockets for racks, etc.) are sewn immediately to the details before they are sewn together, this will make your work easier.

When stitching, arrange the pieces so that the smaller piece is on the right. Why? Yes, it's very simple: look at the sewing machine and you will understand everything yourself. It is better to work together, one sews, and the other helps, supporting the fabric. In the process of sewing, you will have to help pull the seam, because not everything is so simple. In order for the part to fit into the machine, I twisted it with a tube.

Fishing in the winter brings a lot of positive and pleasure, but only under comfortable conditions. So that bad weather does not interfere with this fascinating process, it is important to know how to make a tent for winter fishing with your own hands. This will help photo and video examples, drawings and the best projects.

What should be a winter tent

Having decided on an independent design of a shelter, you need to familiarize yourself with the requirements that it must meet. First of all, the product must protect the angler from bad weather. In addition, inside you need so much space to have the opportunity to relax, have a snack, and warm up. Today, although it is possible to purchase a winter tent, many anglers prefer to make it with their own hands, taking into account their needs.

Homemade design must meet the following criteria:

  • have low weight and dimensions;
  • be mobile;
  • have a dense and breathable coating;
  • easy to mount and dismantle;
  • keep warm for a long time;
  • be strong and strong.

Types of tents

Tents come in different designs. However, the most common options are:

Tent drawing

To simplify the manufacture of the tent, you should use the drawing. In accordance with the scheme, the product is installed on skis, which simplifies the fixation of the structure on ice. This version of the protective shelter allows you to move it around the reservoir without much difficulty, that is, wherever a hole is made, you can set up a tent in that place.

Tent anchors

Fishing tents are often made from lightweight materials. Therefore, when installed on ice, under the influence of wind, they can move. To prevent this from happening, the protective cover must be securely fixed. To do this, use purchased or home-made screws, which are elements with a thread at the end.

To make such pegs, you will need strong self-tapping screws of sufficient length, in which the top is bent in the form of a hook.

How to make a tent with your own hands step by step

Shelter for winter fishing can be made of different designs and from different materials. Therefore, we will dwell on some options in more detail.

From skis and awning

This shelter is far from new and many anglers have had to deal with it when testing the product in harsh winter conditions. Consider the manufacturing instructions:

Made of polyethylene

In the absence of a tent, it can be made from the most affordable material - polyethylene. In this case, the angler himself serves as a frame, and a pick or a drill stuck into the ice is suitable for the stand. From below, the material is folded inward and attached with any objects that are at hand. You can also make a large bag out of oilcloth, which will be worn on the angler.

Among the advantages of the product, one can note the minimum cost of manufacturing and the speed of installation. If you do not consider it necessary to spend money on expensive shelter, this option will be the most suitable.

Consider another design of a simple tent made of polyethylene and plastic pipes. A suitable fabric can be used instead of polyethylene. In addition to the materials listed, for the manufacture you will need connecting elements, as well as a soldering iron. Polyethylene will be required 3 m wide and 4 m long. A piece of film is unfolded and separated, since the material usually has a double layer. Then a triangle or a quadrilateral of the desired size is made from it.

After fitting from plastic pipes, a frame is soldered in the form of two or three triangles, which will be installed from the ends of the product. The triangle is made in such a way that adapters, tees and other elements have a transition to a larger pipe diameter, which will make the design collapsible. As a result, the desired element is soldered to the plastic tube on one side, and a larger diameter pipe is inserted on the other.

Polyethylene in one of the end parts of the structure is collected with an accordion and threaded into a ring, after which it is tightly pulled together. So that the material does not tear, the ring must be smooth. From the other end, at the entrance, at night the film is also pulled into a bundle, but a small hole is left for the influx of fresh air.

From fabric

The tent can also be made from fabric. For this you will need:

  • fabric capable of repelling moisture - 14 m²;
  • metal washers with a diameter of 1.5 cm - 20 pcs.;
  • strong rope - 15 m;
  • narrow tape - 9 m;
  • rubberized fabric - 6 m.

A tent of this design can accommodate 1-2 people. Manufacturing begins with the preparation of two fabric cuts measuring 1.8x0.9 m. Marks are made at intervals of 65 cm along the long side. The same actions are repeated along the short side. At the joints, a cut is made, which will serve as the entrance and back wall of the product.

According to the drawing, you can follow the sequence of actions. One of the main points is to sew all the elements well. The seams are reinforced with tape. In the absence of a suitable fabric, even a regular one can be used. If bad weather starts during fishing, polyethylene can be used to protect against precipitation. To be able to fix the fabric, metal rings are sewn into it.

From a tourist tent

If you have a tent for tourism at your disposal, then with some simple modifications it can also be adapted for winter fishing. If the product has a bottom, a U-shaped cutout is made in it. Through it will be provided access to the holes. For convenience, a zipper can be sewn into the cutout.

From plywood

From a material such as plywood, you can make a house for shelter. Its dimensions are determined by the number of fishermen who will be accommodated in it. The walls of the structure are made of plywood and interconnected through the bars by means of fasteners and canopies. From the inside, such a shelter is insulated with foil insulation. However, such a structure will be bulky and heavy. Therefore, it will have to be delivered to the reservoir by car or, for example, by sleigh.

Shelter for winter fishing can be made from a combination of materials - plywood and film. The floor and one of the end walls are made of plywood, the frame is made of wooden bars. The finished structure is put on skis and covered with polyethylene.

Today, a large selection of tents for fishing in the winter is offered, but not every angler can afford their cost. If you don’t want to spend money, but at the same time like to go fishing, you can get acquainted with the drawings, the best projects, photos and video examples of how to make a do-it-yourself winter fishing tent. The design can be assembled from improvised materials with minimal time and money.

During winter fishing, the angler needs to protect himself from many weather conditions that are acceptable in winter, and for this, a winter fishing tent is very suitable.

In addition, it increases the time the fisherman stays in cold weather. If heating devices are used in the tent, then the air in it can be warmed up to 20 degrees and is freely in it without outerwear.

Types of winter fishing tents

Winter tents are divided into types, on which their design, installation and assembly depend.

  • Umbrella. This type is considered the simplest in its design. It has an umbrella design, thanks to which it is easy to mount and assemble. For the manufacture of the frame, dural rods are used, which increase the reliability and strength of the tent. The awning can be made of synthetic fabrics or a combination with a tarpaulin.
  • Machine. The scheme of their construction is that a tent is sewn to the frame. When collecting, it is enough to twist it into a circle, and it unfolds instantly due to the action of the frame, which works like a spring. Such tents are becoming more and more popular among anglers, because they have a low price, low weight. But along with this, it has many disadvantages: poor wind resistance, the frame breaks easily if the tent is not properly aligned.
  • Frame. Its design resembles the usual summer version. It develops from several folding arches and an awning. She understands for 10 minutes, or even more. The tent does not differ in special reliability. Fishermen rarely purchase this type of winter tent.

What requirements should a homemade tent for winter fishing meet?

A winter tent should create the most favorable conditions on cold, windy, winter days. In addition, it should serve as a place where you can cook food, drink hot tea and just keep warm.

Now the market is full of all possible types of tents, but it's still nice to make your own. If you perform self-tailoring of a tent, you should complete it with some requirements:

  • It should be light and compact.
  • Since it is portable, the tent must be mobile.
  • Select fabrics should be dense.
  • It should be easy and quick to assemble and disassemble.
  • In its manufacture, it is better to give preference to stronger and more reliable materials. The heat in the middle of the structure should be maintained as long as possible.

What materials and tools will you need?

A very common homemade ice fishing tent is a construction based on a fishing box. You can buy it at any store that specializes in selling fishing tackle. In addition, you will also need some accessories:

  • Skis, in the amount of two pairs (children's and school version)
  • Tubes, you can use ski poles.
  • Old folding bed.
  • Thick fabric, tarpaulin works best.

At first glance, it is not entirely clear what this design will look like. But, in practice, its effectiveness and ease of use have been proven. After the design is completed, a box should be obtained, which is transported using skis. In addition, it is easy to assemble and move even on ice.

Drawings of a homemade winter tent

As can be seen from the diagram, the tent is mounted on skis and this simplifies its fastening on the ice. Indeed, fastening ordinary winter tents requires a lot of time and effort. And with a similar design, the angler can move around the pond many times. Wherever a new hole is made, the angler pulls it up to him and, climbing inside, is ready to fish in warmth and comfort.

Note! To reduce the windage, and in strong winds it was easier to drag the tent, it is necessary to remove the awning from the tent. If this is not done, then it will simply be difficult to drag it.

Step-by-step instruction

This design is very old, but very reliable. More than one generation of anglers have experienced it in practice.

How to make a tent with your own hands photo and pattern

  • Ski poles will serve as a frame, where they are mounted vertically. Horizontal tubes should be an order of magnitude thinner. The upper nodes must be made in the form of a triple connecting adapter and its termination is made as a cylinder. It is worth noting that the diameters of the cylinder and the tubes with which they are connected must match.
  • Next is the fixing of the tubes in a vertical position to the skis. A T-shaped tongue is inserted into the metal plate fixed on the ski, which is located at the lower end of the tube. After that, the tube is rotated 90 degrees.
  • Two pipes taken from a cot used to connect the frame to the box. At the end of the bent tube, the end of the docking product is fixed. The latch is installed on the other end of the tube.
  • Eyelets made from copper strip will serve to connect the box with the tubes.
  • At the end of all the work, it remains to pull the awning. In its lower part, metal plates with slots are installed. In these slots it is necessary to stretch the brackets that are driven into the side ends of the skis. Connections are fixed with laces. In order for the structure to stably hold on to a frozen reservoir, it must be equipped with two anchors.

Homemade pegs and tent pins

In order to make pegs that will be used for a winter tent, you need to take long and strong self-tapping screws. At the peg, the top is made in the form of a hook. This process is done with pliers. Screws are made from metal tubes that have a thread. If there is none, then self-tapping screws will fit perfectly.

How to sew a tent with your own hands in the form of a house

You can consider another very popular type of tents, which are made in the form of a house. To make your own tent, you will need:

  • Fabric that does not get wet - 14 sq.m.
  • Metal washers - 1.5 mm diameter (up to 20 pcs.)
  • Braided rope - 15 meters.
  • Not a wide tape - 9 meters.
  • Rubberized fabric for bedding - 6 meters.

Having prepared all the materials, you can proceed to the manufacture of a tent that can accommodate one or two people. To begin with, 2 pieces of fabric of the same size are cut out - 1.8 by 0.9 meters. On the long side, markings of 65 centimeters are made, the same operation is done on the other side. The fabric is cut at the connection points. Thus, the entrance and the back wall of the tent are obtained.

The diagram shows how to do all the other work step by step. The only thing to remember is that all elements are stitched together with high quality. This is where tape comes to the rescue, which will strengthen the seams.

If ordinary weave is used for the tent, then polyethylene will additionally need to be used. Rings are also sewn into the tarpaulin so that the tent can be strengthened.

Assembling the tent on site

The assembly of the entire structure takes a little time and effort:

  1. Skis, the tongues of which are inserted into the slots of the plates, are connected to the halves of the bent tubes, which should be along the axis of the ski, and at the same time the ends are turned inside the tent by 90 degrees.
  2. Through special holes on the ski racks, the ends of each pair of bent tubes are threaded.
  3. Skis are interconnected to form a rectangle shape.
  4. Then a box is installed on this structure.
  5. At the ends of the skis, four vertical pipes are mounted, which serve as racks.
  6. With the help of a tee, the roof pipes are connected. Connecting parts are installed on the ends of vertical tubes.
  7. After aligning the holes of the tubes and tees, mounting wires are pulled into them.
  8. A tarpaulin is stretched over the frame, which is fixed with laces.

The disassembly of the structure is carried out in the reverse order. To make the process faster, you can number the details.

So, despite the fact that there are many different types of fishing winter tents, no one has canceled home-made, time-tested ones. They are easy enough to make yourself. But at the same time, we must remember that they must meet all the requirements of the angler. After all, it becomes a temporary home and a refuge from the frost.

When making your own tent, you should carefully design it and select high-quality materials.

Do-it-yourself winter fishing tent - step by step guide

I thought for a long time how to keep warm in a single-layer umbrella-type tent, I don’t want to carry a folding bed with me, as some anglers do. Using a gas oven for heating, it turns out that warm air stands under the dome of the tent, and instantly disappears through a single-layer fabric, and below, as always, it is cold. Sitting on a fishing box, your feet get cold, and you can’t sleep at night. Due to the temperature difference, condensation forms on the walls of the winter tent, and then turns into a crust of ice.

Accordingly, two problems need to be solved:

  • Close ice.
  • Insulate tent fabric

Wandering around a building store, I stumbled upon some kind of insulation called Izolon. The thickness is 10 mm, and the price per linear meter is quite affordable, so as not to regret if nothing comes of the idea.

Its height is 1500 mm, it took 2 meters in length, the result was a piece of 2000 mm by 1500 mm. He laid him on the floor of the tent, that is, on the snow. The cold from the ice stopped coming. Not the entire perimeter of the tent turned out to be closed, the open area is enough for just four holes, two per angler.

This piece was enough for two backpacks (so as not to stand in the snow) and two anglers. You can sit comfortably, even without shoes in the same socks, if you lie down with a jack, then you can sleep quite comfortably.

You can fold it in a roll (it’s not convenient for me personally) or like paper, I put the drags on top of the sled and strengthen it with rubber stretch marks. Task number one - to close the ice and snow inside the tent and to exclude the flow of cold has been solved.

We turn to solving the second problem - to insulate the tent itself along the perimeter, i.e. Strengthen the protection of the tent from wind blowing heat.

I found an old Soviet rag tent at home, bought a new one, but this one is not needed. I laid it out, figured it out, made a couple of cuts, a hole approximately in the center of the roof. It turned out a cover cap.

The fabric of the Soviet tent is quite thick, lays down with folds, this results in a small layer of air, which is good for keeping warm.

The door of the Soviet tent was combined with the main door.

As a result, heat is retained inside the tent 4-6 times longer, the gas burner worked at maximum flame for about 14 hours before the tent was remodeled, after which the 5 liter bottle ran out, now the flame is half as small, inside the heat, you can sit without shoes in a T-shirt.

Condensation does not form on the walls, the tent is dry. And, which is also important, the wind is not blown now. Tested in frost -21°C. Inside it became darker, the ceiling light solves the problem.

The cover is folded into a roll, length 40 cm, thickness 25 cm, weight 1.3 kg.
Task number two - warming the "umbrella" tent around the perimeter and strengthening the wind protection has been solved.

  • Heating a winter tent with candles

Winter fishing is a lot of positive emotions that can be diluted with some of the negative emotions associated with weather conditions. It is not difficult to imagine what discomfort the angler feels in the presence of frost, and even wind, which enhances the feeling of cold. The wind may not be strong, but it can bring a lot of problems. If you have a winter tent for fishing, then some of the problems can be reduced to zero.

The presence of a tent allows you to increase the total time the fisherman stays on the pond in the winter. Moreover, you can easily raise the temperature in the tent to a positive mark, which will allow the fisherman to feel very comfortable.

Depending on the design features, winter tents are divided into specific models.

Umbrella

These are the simplest designs that are easy to assemble and install. To make the frame of such a tent, you should use durable, but lightweight materials. Synthetic fabrics or their combinations with tarpaulin are more suitable as an awning for covering.

Machine

The design is designed in such a way that the frame acts as a spring, which takes the desired shape when it is released from the package. They are quite popular due to their simplicity of design and lightness. Despite this, these tents have a number of disadvantages. Firstly, they are not very resistant to strong winds, and secondly, it is not so easy to fold it. Therefore, going fishing, you will have to work out before that. It unfolds itself, but without skills, it will be very difficult to fold it, and if you overdo it, you can break it.

frame

This tent consists of several folding arcs and an awning, which covers this frame. We can safely say that this is the same simple option, but it takes a long time to assemble and disassemble. In addition, it is not particularly durable. Therefore, anglers rarely acquire a similar design.

Requirements for a homemade tent for winter fishing

A winter fishing tent should protect the angler from wind, frost and precipitation. Not only that, the tent should have enough space to rest so that you can cook dinner or just drink tea to keep warm.

In specialized outlets, you can buy any tent, especially since the range is very large. Be that as it may, some anglers make them on their own, taking into account all the requirements. In addition, who, if not fishermen, knows what kind of tent is required. Moreover, not all factory-made models meet the requirements of winter fishing enthusiasts.

A homemade tent should be:

  • quite light and compact;
  • mobile so that you can easily move;
  • covered with dense but breathable fabric;
  • easy to install and dismantle;
  • durable and strong, as well as keep warm for a long time.

To work, you will need to stock up on such tools

Most angler-made tents fit in a fishing box. The box, by the way, can also be made independently, which is what many fishermen do, although you can buy it. In addition to the box, you will need the following accessories:

  • two pairs of skis, one for children, one for school;
  • tubes. In this case, it can be ski poles;
  • unnecessary folding bed;
  • thick fabric, such as a tarpaulin.

At first glance, how can a tent be built from such a set of elements. But, nevertheless, such a design proved that it has the right to life. The final product fits into a fishing box, which is very easy to transport across the ice. The construction is quick and easy to assemble and just as easy to move across the ice in working condition.

The only negative is that there is not enough space in it. But if you approach the problem constructively, then there is an opportunity to solve it and increase the tent in volume. Paradoxically, but it protects from the cold, and this is the main thing.

Drawings of a homemade winter tent

Judging from the drawings, the tent is mounted on skis, which simplifies its installation on the ice. Ordinary tents require special fasteners. In addition, skis allow you to move the entire structure around the pond countless times. As a rule, winter fishing is not limited to one punched hole - there can be ten or even more, and each hole has to be caught.

The only thing is that it is problematic to use it in the presence of a strong wind, since it is installed on skis, the wind will be able to move it around the pond on its own. In this case, you can get used to it and use the power of the wind to move it. The main thing is to drill holes correctly.

Step by step production

Despite the fact that this design was born a long time ago, many anglers have tested it in the harsh conditions of winter.

How to make a tent with your own hands

  • Ski poles serve as a frame and are installed vertically. Horizontal tubes should be thinner. At the corners, the frame is connected using tees, the diameter of which must match the diameter of both vertical and horizontal tubes.
  • The next step is to attach the vertical tubes to the skis. A metal plate is attached to the ski, into which a tongue is inserted in the letter T, fixed at the lower end of the tube. To fix the stick, it is enough to turn it at an angle of 90 degrees.
  • From an old folding bed, two sticks are being prepared that will connect the frame to the box. A bent tube is taken, at the end of which there is a docking station. At the other end of the tube is a latch, which serves as a fastener for the docking station.
  • A spring is made from a copper strip, which connects the box with the tubes.
  • In conclusion, it remains to stretch the awning. Metal strips with holes are attached to the bottom of the tent. Brackets fixed to the ends of the skis are pulled into these holes. The awning is connected with brackets using ropes. For stable behavior of the tent on ice, it is equipped with two anchors.

How to make fasteners

If the tent is not fixed on the ice, then at the slightest movement it will move in any direction, especially in the presence of wind. Therefore, it is necessary to make special pegs, at the end of which there is a thread. For this purpose, long and durable self-tapping screws are suitable, the top of which is bent in the form of a hook. By the way, hooks with threads of any size are available in hardware stores.

How to sew a tent with your own hands

Alternatively, you can make a tent in the form of a house. To make it you need to take:

  • Water-repellent fabric, 14 sq. meters.
  • Metal washers, 1.5 mm in diameter, 20 pcs.
  • Braided rope, up to 15 m long.
  • Narrow tape, about 9 m long.
  • Bedding fabric, rubberized within 6 m.

Such a tent can accommodate one or even two people. First of all, you need to prepare two pieces of fabric, measuring 1.8x0.9 m. On the side of 1.8 m, marks are made every 65 centimeters. The same is done with the other (0.9 m) side. The fabric should be cut at the connection points, then you get the entrance and the back wall of the tent.

The diagram shows step-by-step the implementation of further work. Most importantly, all details must be sewn securely. Tape should be used to reinforce the seams. There are times when a tent is sewn from ordinary fabric. In case of bad weather, a polyethylene film is used, which is able to protect against wind and precipitation. Metal rings are sewn into the fabric for fastening. As a rule, they are placed along the bottom of the awning, as well as in the places where the fabric is attached to the frame.

Setting up a tent on a pond

Assembling a homemade ski tent takes a minimum of useful time:

  1. The skis, on which the tongues are fixed, are connected to the halves of the tubes located parallel to the skis. They should be directed inside the tent.
  2. Each pair of bent tubes is threaded through special holes located on the ski racks.
  3. Skis are interconnected so that a rectangle is obtained.
  4. A fishing box is installed on the structure prepared in this way.
  5. At the ends of each ski, vertical racks are installed. There should be four of them.
  6. Tees are taken and with the help of them a roof is formed. They are installed on each vertical rack.
  7. With the help of horizontal tubes, the frame is finally formed.
  8. A fabric is thrown over the frame, which is attached to the frame with short ropes.

A similar tent is disassembled in the reverse order. If each structural element is numbered, then the assembly and disassembly process will take somewhat less precious time.

Naturally, a tent can be purchased at a store, but not every winter fishing enthusiast is ready to purchase it, due to the lack of extra funds. Much cheaper and easier to make it yourself.

The arrival of winter with its sub-zero temperatures, piercing winds and prickly snow does not mean that going out into nature should be postponed until next summer. Of course, most people prefer to sit peacefully in warm apartments, but there are those who are not at all afraid of -20 on a thermometer. They are preparing winter fishing tackle, picking up warm clothes and shoes, and applying maximum ingenuity in such a matter as warming the tent. It is on their experience that this quite solvable problem should be considered.

Correct location

Location of the tent in winter

Any more or less experienced angler will tell you that putting up a tent on a pond in a place convenient for you, where the shore or trees can protect from the wind - this is not fishing - it's just a camping trip. Fish gather in places that are convenient for her. Of course, it takes into account climatic and relief features, but they are often radically different from our preferences. Therefore, winter fishing enthusiasts have developed some rules for setting up a tent, which can be applied under other conditions.

The main source of cold in open space is by no means frost, but wind. You can protect yourself from frost with quality clothing. It is much more difficult to hide from the wind. That is why the tent should be set up so that the entrance is on the leeward side, and in order not to blow, it is recommended to sprinkle the lower perimeter with snow.

Warming methods

Insulation of a winter tent with polyethylene

There are several ways to insulate a tent with your own hands. Some of them can be used in combination, some exclude the rest. You can only choose by trying a few times, but we will try to carefully consider the most popular ones to make your choice easier.

  • Insulation of the winter tent with polyethylene. The most affordable way to help protect yourself from rain and snow. However, he cannot save for a long time. Condensation will accumulate on the inside, and the material itself is quite light and it will be necessary to carefully fix it, at least with clothespins, and this will greatly increase the installation time of the tent.
  • Double tent. Or an additional tent, which can be easily made from an old tent or sewn into a special cover, such as a tarpaulin. This method is much more effective than polyethylene insulation, but requires additional preparation at home.
  • Internal heaters. In specialized stores you can find a wide selection of isothermal insulation based on synthetic winterizer, silicone and the like. They are lined with double-sided breathable fabric and perfectly protect against moisture. Their cost, of course, is quite decent, but they also give a solid guarantee of heat. There is also a more budget option: a heat reflector on foil, fixed on the inner walls with clips. You will have to tinker with it in the cold, but the heat from the heater will linger inside the tent much longer.
  • Insulated floors. The main source of cold inside the tent is frozen ground, snow or ice if you are fishing. The simplest solution to cut off this source is to use travel mats. They are made of a special porous material and are designed specifically for this purpose. But it should be borne in mind that after some time they will begin to let the heat down, which can lead to the melting of ice or snow and the formation of an elementary puddle right in the middle of the tent.

The listed methods, singly or in combination, will help to keep warm in the tent for some time and they are used everywhere, especially if being outdoors is planned for only a few hours. However, to spend the night on a pond or in a winter forest, this is often not enough.

Forced heating

Paraffin candles

The most effective way to insulate a winter tent is to use simple or complex heating devices or objects.

  • The most affordable in this regard can be called ordinary paraffin candles. At a not too high sub-zero temperature, they will quite cope with this task, especially if you place a candle in a thermos flask. This accomplishes two goals at once. Firstly, safety increases many times, because even by negligence knocking over such a heat source, you will not set fire to anything. Secondly, the flask itself warms up from the fire of the candle and begins to intensely radiate heat.
  • In second place is the old, proven method of heating a tent with a hot stone. True, we will have to find this very stone, which is somewhat difficult to do in winter. Then make a fire, heat a stone on a living flame and bring it into the tent. So that it does not burn the floor and melt the ice on the floor, you can put it in a metal pot, which, by the way, will increase the operating time of such a “heater”, or wrap it with several layers of foil.
  • Gas heater. A special compact device powered by liquefied gas, designed as if on purpose for tourists, fishermen and other outdoor enthusiasts. It can be of two types depending on the nozzle:
  • With metal nozzle.
  • With ceramic nozzle.

They are very easy to use, do not take up much space, but their operation is limited by the size of a stationary cylinder, so it is better to take a spare with you.

  • Petrol heater. There are compact and inexpensive models. Unlike gas, they are even more unpretentious, but the fire hazard increases significantly. Requires increased attention and caution.
  • And, of course, a wood-burning stove. Not very convenient for transportation. Of all the above options, heating a winter tent with a compact stove can be called the most ideal.

No need to be afraid of frost and hide your noses behind a double-glazed window and an insulated safe door. A winter trip to the bosom of nature, if you are well prepared for it, will give you indescribable pleasure, give you a huge boost of vivacity and cheer you up not for a day or two.
