Japanese-style bathroom design: exotic in an ordinary apartment. Bathroom: A Japanese Aspect of Oriental Style Japanese Tiles

It is by the appearance of the house that the visitors who come to them first of all judge the residents. Making a good impression is sometimes very important. And if the material used to decorate the facade also has heat and sound insulation properties, then it simply must be used! Japanese facade panels for house exterior decoration are not just a beautiful wrapping, they are very functional and useful material for exterior wall decoration.

To make the facade beautiful, now you can use a lot of various finishing materials - this is paint, putty, siding, tile, (or plate). The last option, by the way, is an environmentally friendly material, which includes synthetic fiber and lightweight concrete, dyes. Outside, the plates have a ceramic coating, which can be of any color and texture.

Most often, fiber cement panels imitate such types of finishes as wild and decorative stone, brick, rocky surface, plaster. Panels can give any building any look. And thanks to this, the structure can be harmoniously inscribed in any environment.

On a note! The history of fiber cement (the basis of these boards) began in the last years of the 19th century. At that time, the construction industry was in need of a material that would have excellent fire resistance. Previously, asbestos was necessarily included in the composition of fiber cement. But since the latter had a negative impact on people's health, experts figured out how to replace it. They began to use cellulose, basalt and other types of fibers. At the same time, the technical characteristics of the material have not changed at all.

Fiber cement panels have the following advantages over other finishing materials

Fiber cement panels are used for finishing buildings for various purposes, including residential buildings. Since the material has a porous surface, it is able to "breathe", and therefore it is allowed to be used in medical institutions.

On a note! Fiber cement panels can also be used for interior decoration of some types of premises. Now the material has been used even by artists and sculptors to create works of art.

Japanese facade panels - installation

Laminated panels can even be used to decorate rooms with high air humidity - for example, those where saunas or swimming pools are located. And, of course, most often such facade panels are used to design ventilated facades. Such a facade is a wall structure made of profiles with fiber cement panels fixed to them. The cavities between the wall and the finish can be filled with insulation.

Japanese panels

The construction market now has a fairly large selection of fiber cement panels. The main producers of this material are deployed in Russia or Japan. However, Japanese-made material surpasses domestic panels in its parameters, and therefore is definitely in great demand.

The production of fiber cement trim panels in Japan began around the middle of the 20th century after the severe destruction that occurred in cities. In order to restore all buildings as quickly as possible, the resourceful Japanese launched the production of fiber cement panels from cellulose fiber and cement. Using this finishing material, it was possible to quickly turn a terrible-looking building into a pretty nice house.

Japanese panels are of good quality and completely natural composition, which includes:

  • viscose fiber;
  • calcium silicate (the panels contain the most of this substance - up to 80%);
  • magnesium carbonate;
  • methylcellulose;
  • silicon, which is part of the coating of the panel.

On a note! To improve the technical characteristics, components such as wood fibers, mica, quartz, tea tree fibers, acrylic and others can also be used.

Advantages of Japanese facade panels:

One of the main advantages of Japanese facade panels is the high installation speed. All of them have a strictly defined size, and learning how to install them on the walls yourself is quite simple.

Manufacturers

In Japan, there are three main manufacturers of fiber cement panels - Nichiha, KMEW, Asahi.

Japanese facade panels "Nichiha"

On a note! The manufacturer KMEW (the abbreviation stands for Kubota Matsushitadenko Exterior Works) is part of the Matsushita group of companies, which is known in Russia thanks to such a brand as Panasonic.

From each other, the products of these companies differ in color, texture and many other characteristics. Interestingly, during the finishing of one building, you can use panels from any of the companies, since the products have comparable parameters, as well as the same fastening system. And the combination of products of all three companies can sometimes be very successful and attractive.

When arranging ventilated facades, special attention is paid to the cladding materials. It is on them that the durability of the coating depends, the protection of the building from negative factors and, of course, the external attractiveness of the facade. The most popular are those with a mass of remarkable properties.

Nichiha ("Nichiha")

These front panels are produced at the enterprises of Japan, where the whole process is subjected to the strictest quality control. Products are distinguished by a long service life, environmental friendliness, wear resistance. At the same time, they retain a neat appearance for 20 years unchanged thanks to the special components that make up the coating. In addition, the surface of the panels can be safely called self-cleaning, since the dirt that appears on them is easily washed off the walls during rain.

Panels perfectly cope with the tasks of sound and heat insulation. They are not afraid of fire, very durable. The weight of the panels is small, and therefore, due to their use, the structure does not additionally become heavier, therefore, the load on the foundation does not increase.

"Nitiha" offers consumers a wide range of variations of the decorative coating of fiber cement panels, some of them are "natural":

  • wood;
  • brick;
  • a rock;
  • metal.

On a note! The palette of colors for finishing Nitikha panels includes about 1000 items. This allows you to implement very complex and interesting options for finishing the facade.

KMEW

Another brand promoted due to the quality of its products. KMEW panels, like Nitikha, are an environmentally friendly material consisting of cellulose and a quartz-cement mixture. From above, they are covered with a protective layer that prevents the destruction of the material, as well as giving it a beautiful appearance.

On a note! KMEW has been producing fiber cement facade panels for over 40 years.

KMEW panels combine lightness and strength, they are not afraid of fire, they perfectly tolerate the harsh climatic conditions of Russia. The average service life without loss of beauty is about 35 years.

The company offers a choice of the buyer more than 400 varieties of external coating panels. Among them there are also traditional wood, brick, stone. The following materials can be used as a coating.

  1. Acrylic. The material is not afraid of exposure to the sun, so that such a coating does not fade.
  2. hydrophilic ceramics. The coating is applied over acrylic. Provides maximum protection of the material from fading in the sun.
  3. photoceramics. Between the above coatings - a kind of transitional option. Excellent value for money.

Combining the quality and aesthetics of the East, the products are in demand throughout the entire period of the existence of the manufacturing company. KMEW panels are considered the leader among all products of this class.

Asahi

Facade panels "Asahi"

On a note! The resistance to fading of the panels of this company is lower than that of products from other manufacturers. The service life without loss of color brightness is only 10-15 years.

Installation of Japanese panels KMEW

Before proceeding with the cladding of the facade, it is necessary to count the number of Japanese panels. To do this, measure the area of sheathed walls and divide by the area of one panel, subtract the pre-measured area of window / door openings, round up and add a small margin (usually from 10% to 15%). Next, you need to build a crate of wood or metal. Of course, for tall buildings it is better to use a more reliable frame. In this case, the gaps between the individual strips should not be more than 606 mm.

Optimum lathing pitch - 606 mm

Attention! At the joints of the crate parts, the error should not be more than 2 mm.

Table. Installation of Japanese panelsKMEW.

Steps, photoDescription of actions

The installation of fiber panels begins with the installation of the starting bar.

Marking of the places of its fastening is carried out, drilling of fastening holes with an interval of 606 mm or less.

The starting bar is fastened with screws. If it is necessary to lay two planks on top of each other, the overlap should be about 5 cm.

The outer corners of the starting bar are being installed.

The installation of the inner corners of the starting bar is being carried out.

A waterproofing layer is formed between the wall and the panels. A special hydro-windproof membrane is attached with a waterproof tape or adhesive spray.

The membrane must be laid from right to left, alternately on at least two parts of the crate with further layering (more than 9 cm on each other) on the edges of another sheet of material.

Also, the material must be attached at the corners of the building, around window openings and in other similar places.

The membrane in the area of the starting bar is glued so as to cover this part by about half.

Next, the preparation of the finishing material is carried out - cutting the panels. The procedure can be carried out using an electric saw. The panel must lie face down, otherwise a curved cut will be formed.

Next, the starting bracket is installed, which must be located strictly horizontally in level.

The bracket is mounted on a metal substructure, the gaps between the screws are no more than 606 mm.

External corners are being installed. The lower corner is mounted in the lower part of the hardware gutter.

The upper part of the outer corner is fastened with a special corner bracket from one and the other edge.

Where the future panels and the outer corner are joined, a special bar is mounted - it will not allow them to move to the side.

The panel is installed so that the protrusion on the back of the product fits into the groove of the bracket.

The upper part of the fiber cement panel is fixed with a bracket designed for mounting flat boards. There should not be more than 606 mm between the fasteners.

At the side joints of the panels, before laying, a side separating strip is installed so that the elements do not move.

The inner corner is set. Next, front panels are inserted on the left and right.

Staples must not be used at the bottom of window and door openings. Therefore, the panels are attached using spacers.

The panel is screwed to the spacers with screws.

To the sides of the openings, the panels are mounted after the dividing bar is installed.

In the upper part of the wall, the panels are fixed with spacers and a finishing strip, which will close the cut from prying eyes. The distance from the fastener to the final bar is 70 mm.

Attention! During the installation of panels around openings (door or window), gaps of about 1 cm wide are left, which will later be filled with sealant. A protective film must be applied to the parts of the cut of the panels that will be open.

Facade Japanese panels can be an excellent option for decorating the walls outside the house. Easy to install, light, beautiful, they will allow you to put in order even the most neglected building, while not requiring special preparation of the walls. And in the care of such panels are very simple. Perhaps that is why they have found such popularity among domestic consumers.

Requirements for tiles in the bathroom

Due to the specific operating conditions, ceramic tiles for the bathroom should have the following number of characteristics:

Moisture resistance. The material must withstand not only the increased humidity of the air in the room, but also the direct ingress of water.

Preservation of the outer coating and structural properties when heated.

Inertness to detergents and cleaners.

impact resistance.

When choosing ceramics for finishing the bathroom, you need to consider a number of factors:

1. Manufacturer. Products of each brand differ not only in price per m2, but also in quality, variety of surface types, shades, textures.

Ceramic tiles from the Sakura collection are ideal for creating an interior in an oriental style. Sakura is an ornamental cherry tree often found in Japanese art. Patterns in the form of sakura flowers adorn kimonos, dishes, screens and other items. For the Japanese, these flowers are the personification of beauty and a symbol of the transience of human life.
The Sakura tile, created by the designers of the Belarusian company Keramin, combines oriental motifs and modern functionality.
A reminder of Japan can be traced not only in the image of decorative cherries, but also in the simplicity of color schemes. The traditional Japanese interior is characterized by the presence of dark wood, so the Sakura ceramic tile imitates the texture and color of noble wood.

The collection is created in two color options: "Burgundy" and "Chestnut". The main wall tiles are rectangular in shape and measure 27.5x40 cm. These tiles are easy to install. In addition, the large pattern is now extremely popular in interior design.

Monochromatic tiles "Sakura" of the "Burgundy" sub-collection are presented in two shades: red-brown and pink-beige, which are similar to the natural color of plum wood. The tile has a corrugated surface that resembles the texture of wood.

Sakura tiles from the Chestnut sub-collection allow you to decorate the interior in more contrasting colors. It is made in dark brown and the light tile resembles paper, while the dark tile resembles wood. This combination is reminiscent of the traditions of creating Japanese interiors using dark wooden frames with light rice paper stretched over them.

The decors of the Sakura collection make a stunning impression. They measure 27.5x40 cm and are available in two versions. In the first one: three-dimensional golden patterns in the form of sakura branches strewn with graceful flowers are applied to the matte surface of the tile.

In the second one: a three-dimensional ornament of thin lines, which can be golden, pink, light brown and black, is applied on plain light surfaces. Fancy lines form a pattern of a cut of a tree.

Complementary are glass borders, which can be either with a repeating pattern of sakura branches, or with an abstract ornament, reminiscent of Border sizes 6.2x40 cm and 6.2x27.5 cm.

The Sakura floor tiles for the bathroom are 40x40 cm in size. In both sub-collections, they are made in dark colors. Floor tiles are corrugated, matte and anti-slip.

With a wide choice of colors and decors, this collection allows you to create interesting designs. These tiles are ideally combined with white bathroom fixtures, interior design elements and dark natural wood furniture.

Sakura is produced by Keramin, which has a good reputation in the CIS countries. Sakura Keramin tiles are not only beautiful, but also durable. Today, ceramic tiles are manufactured using modern Italian Sacmi equipment, which allows us to produce products that meet international quality standards.

The Japanese style of interior design conveys calmness and sophistication, a sense of unity with nature and aesthetics that contribute to the restoration of vitality and emotional energy. That is why it is ideal for arranging a bathroom. After all, the most important thing in the local environment is not only physical, but also spiritual comfort. The main features of the Japanese style are simplicity and conciseness. And this means that you can decorate the interior of the bathroom in the traditions of the Land of the Rising Sun with minimal effort and money, without involving specialists in the field of repair for this.

Distinctive Japanese style features

The attitude of the Japanese to personal hygiene is different from the European one. They do not just take a shower or bath, but do it in order to cleanse the body of toxins, and the mind from everyday fuss. Probably, this is precisely the secret of the youthful appearance of the representatives of this culture, regardless of their age and social status.

Japanese style in the interior of the bathroom in the photo

Decorating a bathroom in the tradition of Japan has its own special features, which are:

  • simplicity of lines and shapes;
  • harmony of natural lighting and color schemes;
  • rationality of placement of plumbing and interior design details;
  • a special approach to space zoning, which allows you to focus on individual moments of your stay in the bathroom;
  • using a range of natural materials and special methods of combining them to create a feeling of inextricable connection with nature.

Japan is an island nation whose culture is characterized by measured contemplation and deep philosophy in relation to every aspect of everyday life. Asceticism and restraint, calmness, sophistication and bright accents on individual details of the situation prevail in the interiors, decorated by Japanese design masters. It allows you to perform hygiene procedures with the greatest benefit to the body. Therefore, in such a bathroom you can not only relax with your body and soul, but also regularly receive an effective boost of energy and positive.

Combinations of sea pebbles, light ceramic tiles and granite, wood or bamboo are considered the most organic in this style. Sliding inner walls, national engravings depicting marine life or scenes from Japanese history, myths and legends, as well as any design details that allow you to use every minute spent here rationally look great in the interior of a Japanese-style bathroom.

Registration bathroom: main aspects

Traditionally, the Japanese take a bath in ofuro - cypress barrels or rectangular fonts. Such a pleasure costs a lot, but you can always go the way of optimal costs and purchase an acrylic bathroom, for example, in a wooden frame.

Decorating a Japanese-style bathroom means finishing made of wood by no more than 50%. At the same time, especially for small and low rooms, one should try not to overdo it with such a design, so as not to get the effect of compressed space.

It should be taken into account that the ability of ofuro to maintain the temperature of the water for a long time is provided by a heated stone. Therefore, its presence in the interior, although in a decorative quality, will be more than appropriate. So, you can create stone islands around the bathroom itself or in other areas of the room, edging or inclusions in wood finishes or in ceramic wall and floor coverings.

Shoji - thin partitions that create the effect of space zoning deserve special attention in the design of a Japanese-style bathroom. Often they have a sliding design, which makes it possible to save and rationalize space. In addition, they can be installed on windows, eliminating the need to buy blinds or curtains.

It is noteworthy that the Japanese style does not provide for adjacent bathrooms. Therefore, if you have chosen this direction of design, everything that is not related to taking a bath will have to be masked. As for furniture, it should be selected among compact closed-type sets. So, one of the most suitable options for the Japanese style are hanging or built-in cabinets.

Color and lighting

One of the aspects of Japanese philosophy is the desire for harmony and tranquility. As for the interior of the bathroom, it is rational to use combinations of the same type of light and warm tones. At the same time, do not get carried away with gloss and accents - in fact, they only complicate the process of relaxation. The same can be said about aggressive colors - red, green and their shades.

Bright color inserts in the Japanese style are allowed, but the measure must be observed. For example, if you want to create contrast in the environment, you can use combinations of black and brown. In order to emphasize the minimalism of the interior, combinations of gray, beige or milky white shades are best suited.

For a Japanese-style bathroom, it is highly desirable to choose a dark floor covering - such a solution will ensure the logical completeness of the design.

Perhaps the most important aspect of interior design is lighting. For a Japanese-style bathroom, it is selected in such a way as to provide optimal brightness. The light should not be blinding or cold - preference should be given to lighting technology with warm and moderate radiation. Also, do not forget about the zones that you created in the bathroom - it is advisable to provide a separate branch of lighting for each of them.

The layout of the electrical circuit and the selection of lighting equipment for the Japanese style are carried out on the basis of symmetry considerations. Use recessed ceiling lights that provide soft, diffused light. However, it does not hurt to place in the bathroom a couple of pendant or wall-mounted decorative rectangular lamps or luminous balls decorated with bamboo or wooden elements. By the way, both of them are not at all difficult to make on their own, it is only important to comply with electrical safety requirements.

Plumbing, furniture, accessories

The Japanese style is distinguished by the simplicity of lines and shapes, as well as the absence of unnecessary items and design details. With this approach, even in the smallest bathroom, you can create a visual sense of freedom of space.

When designing a Japanese-style bathroom, special attention should be paid to the selection and placement of furniture. It should be first of all compact and only then functional. You will need several neat cabinets or bedside tables that will hold hygiene items, towels, etc. To emphasize the style of the interior, try decorating light-colored ceramic tiles on the walls with an original pattern or calligraphy, an image of Mount Fuji, branches of cherry blossoms or fruit trees.

An integral element of the Japanese style in the bathroom is framing the sink with a wooden countertop, and the areas around it with vintage shelves. Plastic, glass or chromed metal should not be used - high-tech environment is as far from calm and relaxation as a noisy city street from a quiet village landscape. A completely different matter is the unobtrusive bronze finish, emphasizing the elegance of the finish and the elegance of the furnishings.

When choosing a dryer and hooks for towels, sinks, stands for hygiene products, etc. remember that they are an organic part of the bathroom interior. It is necessary to strictly comply with the overall color scheme and the very conciseness that is the basis of the Japanese style.

As for bathroom accessories, everything depends on your imagination. Add a small decorative vase, ikebana, planter or Japanese figurine to the decor, finish the niches and ledges with natural stone. But in no case do not overdo it, otherwise the style will turn out to be blurry, and the atmosphere will in no way be conducive to relaxation and rest.

General design

When decorating a Japanese-style bathroom, do not forget about the most important thing - unity with nature. Pretentiousness and variegation are not appropriate here, but this does not mean at all that you will have to limit yourself in choosing combinations of different materials. Smoothly polished wooden elements will look great against the background of patterned tiles on the walls, while natural stone will emphasize the elegance and beauty of shimmering silk or bamboo inserts. By the way, if you add living stems of the latter to the environment by placing them in strict vases or bottles of an unusual shape, this will bring a sense of life, freshness and harmony into the atmosphere.

To express the Japanese style in the bathroom, ceramic tiles are ideal, presented on the market in a huge range of shapes, textures and colors. For example, you can choose matte or medium-gloss tiles in neutral tones that combine with bamboo or wood decor, stylized lighting fixtures and shoji to create a sensual and truly cozy atmosphere.

The most difficult option to implement is painted walls - any defect will be clearly visible on them, so you should think about using a material such as moisture-resistant drywall. However, it is not very suitable for finishing small rooms, as it requires additional space for installing a supporting frame. Another thing is wooden type-setting panels with an extremely simple method of fastening, which will easily hide any irregularities and defects in building structures.

As for the ceiling, it can be anything - stretch, hinged or painted. It is important that its color matches the general mood of the interior and harmoniously contrasts with the shade of the flooring.

The main values of a Japanese-style bathroom are the absence of unnecessary details, elegant simplicity and a sense of freedom of space. Against the background of the general design of the apartment, such a solution can become a real highlight. Spaciousness, cleanliness and soft home comfort - what else could be more appropriate in a bathroom setting than the traditional features of the culture of the Land of the Rising Sun?

Japanese style bathroom interior video

The interior of the Japanese-style bathroom captivates with calmness and contemplation. A minimum of furniture and decor makes it possible to get a spectacular Japanese design with a minimum of costs.

In addition, the Japanese interior style is ideal for small spaces. Emphasizing simplicity, minimalism and muted shades will make a small Japanese-style bathroom visually seem more spacious. And the right choice of ceramic tiles plays a special role here.

Interest in Japanese interior design is growing every year. It is also supported by manufacturers of finishing materials. Some ceramic tile companies offer ceramic collections with Japanese motifs.

Tile Opoczno

Japanese style bathroom tiles

Japanese style ceramic tiles most often light (creamy, white, beige) color with floral ornaments or traditional Japanese decor. Manufacturers often supplement "Japanese" collections with wall and floor tiles in rich dark colors (chocolate brown, wenge). They contrast very effectively with light fragments, giving the bathroom or kitchen an expressive graphic effect.

Often such tiles are decorated with Japanese hieroglyphs, images of flowering sakura or bamboo branches.

Sometimes you can find exclusive tiles painted in the style of traditional Japanese painting. But most often, borders and decorations with Japanese ornaments give the national flavor to ceramics.

If there is no way to find a "Japanese" tile, it can be completely replaced with any plain ceramic tile or porcelain stoneware of light, delicate or rich dark shades. The traditional colors of the Japanese interior are brown, sand, beige, white, milky, pearl.

Warm colors will make the bathroom more comfortable. As accents, you can use tiles of red, blue, green colors.

When creating a Japanese-style bathroom, you should not use too bright colors. Preference is given to natural colors and calm, muted shades.

A very effective option for bathroom decor - with Japanese motifs, images of traditional Japanese objects or photographs of Japanese landscapes.

Where can I buy? Japanese style tile manufacturers

Very often, collections of ceramic tiles and porcelain stoneware, in which there are notes of Japanese style, are called "Sakura". Many well-known manufacturers of finishing materials have such collections. Factories included. Opoczno(Poland), Kerama Marazzi(Russia), Atem(Ukraine), Keramin(Belarus), etc.

For example, Russian tiles with Japanese motifs are presented in three collections of the Kerama Marazzi brand at once. Sakura is a series of ceramics with stylized images of geishas, birds, flowering sakura branches and Japanese characters. The background tiles are complemented by striking and colorful decors and borders. The collection includes wall tiles in red, black, blue and gray, as well as white, black and red floor tiles.

Another collection of tiles from the same manufacturer, which is suitable for a Japanese-style bathroom or kitchen, is called "Tea House". It includes matte tiles in three colors - white, brown and beige. In addition to them, elegant decors are offered, decorated with traditional oriental paintings.

Fans of minimalism inherent in Japanese interiors will also like porcelain stoneware from the Fuji collection. The main colors are beige, light brown, light gray and black. Porcelain tiles can be complemented with mosaic borders.

Japanese style bathroom design - traditional textures

It is difficult to imagine the stylization of the Japanese interior without natural materials or their high-quality imitation. Therefore, ceramic tiles imitating wood, straw, sisal, bamboo, textured plaster or paper are ideal for decorating walls and floors.

The tile that imitates silk or linen fabrics and canvas with a convex, textured weave looks very impressive in the bathroom. Soft, muted colors perfectly emphasize the rich texture of textured ceramic tiles and give energy and expressiveness to the bathroom interior.

The Japanese-style bathroom interior is all about natural materials, maximum natural light and minimum details. The most important thing is simplicity and functionality.

In a Japanese-style bathroom, there should be a minimum of things. All bath and household trifles should be hidden from prying eyes in spacious cabinets with opaque doors. Plumbing and bathroom furniture in the Japanese style should not be massive.

Ideal if cabinets and plumbing are suspended. It will appear as if they are floating in the air.

Japanese style design relies heavily on the right lighting. Soft diffused light is important in each functional area. This effect can be achieved by using many small lamps with an underlined simple and concise design.

Japanese-style lamps - with spherical or rectangular lampshades - give a soft, diffused and unobtrusive light. A good addition to the interior of a Japanese-style bathroom can be a niche in the wall, which can be decorated with a vase, flowers, figurine or ikebana.
