What base is suitable for a wrought iron gazebo?

The gazebo can be installed on any type of base: concrete, wooden (deck board), natural stone, porcelain stoneware.

What kind of gazebo do you make?

As a rule, they have the shape of a square or polygon (hexahedron, octahedron). If desired, we can make a round gazebo.

If your garden is fenced with an iron fence, and bars are installed on the windows of the house, then a wrought-iron gazebo will look great next to them. When metal falls into the hands of a skilled craftsman, the structure will easily catch the eyes of guests. Proof of this are the best forged gazebos photos of which we have collected.

A good example of structure and iron

The dimensions of the gazebo, its shape and appearance, can be completely different in each case. It can be an impressive building or a modest openwork structure. Arbors can be adapted even for the winter season by installing a stone or brick stove.

Advantages of metal buildings

A gazebo made of metal, when properly designed, has a solemn look, and it can be used not only as a place to protect from rain and sun, but also as a place for official festivities.

  • An additional building is a great addition to the backyard landscape;
  • No matter what materials are located on your site: boulders or a lush garden, a metal structure will always fit in well;
  • The service life of your shelter, with infrequent but timely care, will stretch for decades;
  • Metal products rarely require repair, and the monolithic design practically excludes it;
  • Such facilities are suitable for cooking with open fire. You will not worry about the safety of your family and friends;
  • For support, you can use both a flood foundation, and simply bury the structure in the ground;
  • To paint the gazebo and at the same time prevent corrosion, a simple alkyd paint will do;
  • The material allows you to choose the best option for your wallet. Moreover, it is a forged gazebo that can be both the cheapest and the most expensive.

Disadvantages of forged products

Despite its advantages, such a gazebo has several disadvantages:

  • The metal heats up very strongly in the sun, which means it will be very hot during the summer heat;

    The way out will be planting trees for shade or building a wide roof.

  • Like it or not, and any iron, sooner or later, rusts. Moisture penetrates through the microcracks of the protective coating, and destructive processes constantly occur at the base;

Types of forged arbors

Designers forged gazebos for summer cottages were divided into three types:

Building materials for forged buildings

Forged gazebos for summer cottages are made using the following materials:

  • Iron;
  • Copper products;
  • Steel structures.

Metal craftsmen use soft alloys, with the presence of carbon up to 13% of the total mass. If the proportion of carbon is increased, this will prevent the widespread forge welding, and also increase the hardening of the steel, which will create difficulties in artistic forging.

In the case of machine forging, square or round profiles, sheet material, and also a stamping sheet are used. In manual processing, the latter option is missing. It is difficult to find designs with only one option. Most often, the gazebo carries elements of both the first and second technologies.

We create a shelter near the house on our own

You can order the service of building a gazebo from trusted professionals. Then your garden will change for the better. But if you yourself are a metal master, you can build forged arbors with your own hands. The ideal option is a shelter with a barbecue

For a full-fledged look, special skills in working with metal and the presence of special equipment are required. technology. But you can also find a simple and economical alternative - to create a gazebo from profile pipes by connecting them with arc welding.

You can find a lot of drawings of a wrought iron gazebo project, with possible individual refinement. Taking into account the relatively small weight of the metal structure, small columnar foundations can be used for them, however, sometimes a monolithic tape is made for the base.

Professionals advise making a free gap between the ground and the floor covering. Otherwise, you will need to worry about waterproofing, which will incur additional costs.

Forged building variations

Pavilions and sheds made of forged steel. The design allows you to operate the gazebo all year round. However, a concrete foundation is required for the construction. Forged gazebos - photo example:

The hut is also an elegant option. Thin wire weaving was adapted for the walls and ceiling. The gazebo gets a closed and durable look through the use of tight-fitting openwork elements.

Also, do-it-yourself forged gazebos are made in the form of a flower girl. This type is equipped with special stands for the perfect arrangement of flowers and plants around the entire perimeter.

Forged arbors for summer cottages on stilts are realized in the form of a domed rotunda. They like to build a shelter with steps near a water source or a hill.

If you have the opportunity, you can order really elite wrought-iron arbors. Consider forged gazebos - photos and examples. In appearance, this slim robot is a uniquely robust design. A skilled blacksmith can give a gazebo a majestic charm.

Making the exterior of the house is not only beautiful flowers and front gardens. It should also be equipped with a comfortable place to relax, in which it is pleasant to sit both alone and in a friendly company. It is to such places that forged gazebos for summer cottages, which have become an indispensable attribute of many country yards and gardens, belong. A wide variety of design options and ease of operation are far from the only advantages of such a house for relaxation.

Advantages and disadvantages of forged arbors

Among the wide variety of options offered, all forged gazebos, regardless of design and size, have such undeniable advantages over other types of gazebos:

But a forged gazebo also has some disadvantages, among which are:

These shortcomings can be quickly eliminated by making the operation full of some advantages that make forged arbors popular and in demand.

Variety of wrought iron gazebos

Forged gazebos designers are divided into three main types:

Important! The carpet of flowering plants, braiding such an arbor, not only saves from the sun, but also gives coolness to shady leaves, fills the air with floral aroma and fragrance.

Structurally, forged gazebos can be of the following types:

All types of structures can be carried out, both open and closed, with benches, tables placed inside, these can be forged gazebos with a barbecue inside, of various shapes and weaves. It all depends on the preferences of the customer.

Important! Professional builders recommend installing any type of gazebo on a pre-mounted foundation. This will strengthen the structure and extend its life.

Forged gazebos, the photos of which are presented below, amaze with their sophistication and originality.

As the material for the gazebo, metals such as iron, copper or steel can be used. This will affect both the characteristics of the building and its price. It is in these metals, with a content of up to 13% carbon, that the optimal rigidity is achieved, which allows creating artistic elements.

Important! Forging arbors involves the use of both round and square profiles, as well as stamping sheets and sheet materials using machine technology.

In manual processing, only stamping sheets are excluded from use.

Modern landscape design often includes such a component as a wrought-iron gazebo. Skillfully executed, it will certainly become a real decoration of the site. It looks especially harmonious in combination with a fence, bars on the windows of the house or garden furniture, made in the same technique. The article will discuss not only the advantages and disadvantages of forged arbors, but also how to weld a simple metal arbor on your own.

Forged gazebos for summer cottages can be both a massive closed structure on a solid foundation, and a light openwork structure. The first type is great for spending time even in the cold season. In them, as a rule, a brazier is installed, and sometimes a fireplace. Such gazebos are more like pavilions with elegant artistic forging on the windows and colored roofs made of polycarbonate or any roofing material.

  • Lightweight structures are unable to protect from heavy rain, but they will shelter from the scorching sun on a summer day.
  • They are distinguished by their exquisite appearance, especially if these are elite gazebos made by masters of their craft in a single copy, which can rightly be called real works of art.

Advantages of wrought iron gazebos

Forged gazebos are rightfully a luxurious decoration for any site.

  • They are used not only as a place for family holidays, but also as a backdrop for special occasions, such as wedding ceremonies;
  • look great against the background of the landscape of the garden, among the trees, and against the backdrop of the facade of the house;
  • a metal gazebo goes well with elements made of other materials - stone, wood, plastic or metal;

  • have not only an attractive appearance, but also more durable than wood;
  • repairs are less often required, which, as a rule, consists in annual painting;
  • you can choose an option for any wallet - from expensive elite arbors to quite economical welded options from reinforcing bars or even cheaper - using a grid for natural fencing;

  • no matter what price category a forged gazebo is included in, it is installed on almost any surface, be it a lawn, a concreted area or a gravel embankment. Often, embedded parts on concrete supports are used as fasteners, but there are gazebos that are simply buried in the ground, or mounted on top of it.
  • are easily painted with any alkyd paints, including compositions imitating gilding or platinum. They will not only give the structures a beautiful look, but also protect the metal from atmospheric influences;
  • for those who like to cook various dishes on the grill on the site, forged gazebos will be an ideal option. After all, compared with wooden counterparts, which are still leading in popularity, they are not afraid of fire. Therefore, you can safely install a barbecue inside them and cook your favorite dishes even in rainy weather.

Disadvantages of wrought iron gazebos

Naturally, any designs have not only advantages, but also disadvantages, and forged gazebos are no exception.

  • It is believed that due to the property of metal to get very hot in the sun, it will be very hot in the gazebo. To avoid this, you need to choose the model as openwork as possible and plant trees near it that will create the necessary shadow;

  • metal rusts. But this drawback can also be easily eliminated if the surface of the gazebo is covered with coloring compositions, especially since modern dyes provide excellent metal protection, they are more durable, which allows painting every few years. In addition, they can be applied to a metal surface even without pre-treatment, which greatly simplifies the work.

Elite wrought iron gazebos

Uniqueness and originality are the main features of elite wrought-iron arbors. They are made according to an individual sketch, and therefore are called exclusive. Despite the fact that they most often look like thin, lacy designs, they are actually extremely durable, due to the fact that the metal itself is a very hard and resilient material.

The process of manufacturing such arbors is a rather laborious and time-consuming work. It starts with a sketch, which is either done by a professional designer, taking into account the wishes of the customer, or selected from ready-made options available in a forging company.

When the sketch is ready, it goes to the designer who creates the project. In it, he calculates all the necessary parameters of load-bearing structures in order to ensure complete safety from the consequences of possible loads. After that, the printed project enters the forging shop, and then along the conveyor to the assembly shop. At the finishing stage, he ends up in the painting shop. When all these stages are completed, the manufactured gazebo is sent to the customer, which is most often installed by the installation team.

It is worth noting that during forging, the share of manual labor is quite large, because the machine can make far from any element and detail. Also, the assembly of individual parts of the structure is also carried out manually, which is why forged arbors retain the warmth of the master's hands.

Distinguish between cold and hot forging. Cold forging is the work with metal at room temperature, which is below the recrystallization temperature of the metal. Iron and mild steels are used in the work. The process can be described as cutting blanks or called stamping.

Finished elements during cold forging are assembled by welding. Arbors made using this technology have a lower cost than those made using hot forging, but the result is less spectacular.

Materials for the manufacture of metal and forged arbors

For the production of forged products is used:

  • iron;
  • copper;
  • steel.

More suitable are soft varieties, which include up to 13% carbon. With an increase in its fractional content, the metal becomes rigid, hard and the tendency to harden increases, which makes art forging difficult and prevents forge welding, which is often used in blacksmithing.

For machine forging is used:

  • round or square profile;
  • sheet metal;
  • stamping.

For manual - everything is the same, except for the last one. As a rule, the arbor combines both elements of the machine tool and elements of hand forging.

As for the specific production time, they will vary depending on the characteristics of the order - whether the gazebo is being made for the first time, or has already been made according to a similar sketch.

At the end of the work, it will be quite difficult to make any cardinal changes, since the product is a full-fledged, finished work. Refinement in the future will be reduced, as already noted, to coating with coloring compositions.

The manufacturer or individual craftsman usually sets the cost for their products on their own, based on the difficulty of the work. As a rule, the price of a forged gazebo varies from 8 thousand rubles. and may exceed 1 million rubles.

DIY metal gazebos

In order to create a complex structure of an elite forged gazebo, regardless of whether cold or hot forging technology is used, certain skills in working with metal are required, as well as the availability of special equipment. But if you wish, you can always find an alternative, for example, a simple metal gazebo made of shaped pipes with welded joints.

The most rational option is considered to be a metal frame of a gazebo, made of a profile pipe of rectangular or square section with a wall thickness of at least 2 mm. Welded structures made of such pipes will look more neat than when using round pipes and a channel. For partitions, you can use a metal corner.

To date, the Internet presents a wide variety of drawings and metal arbors. But in most cases, they require refinement "for themselves." But in any case, this is a good way to save on ordering an individual project.

An example of building a gazebo with your own hands

The size of the gazebo is 3x5.4m.

Roof

To make the roof, you will need a 20x40 mm pipe, which will need to be cut to certain sizes.

  • For a roof slope, you will need a pipe 20x40 mm 2 m long - 12 pieces;
  • cross member - pipe 20x40 mm, length 3 m - 6 pieces;
  • for central supports - a pipe 20x40 mm 40 cm long - 6 pieces.

All these pipes will need to be connected into triangles by welding, for which you will need a welding inverter and 3 mm electrodes.

Work should be done on a good level surface. To set a right angle between the central support of the vault and the crossbar, you need to use a square. First, it is necessary to weld the vault support exactly to the middle of the crossbar, and then weld both vaults to the support and separately each of the vaults to the crossbar. In this case, a ledge of the vault is made in 20 cm.

The roof is half done. Now you can proceed to the preparation of other elements for which you will need:

  • racks - a pipe 40x40 mm 3 m long - 10 pieces;
  • transverse piping - pipe 40x40 mm, 3 m long - 2 pieces;
  • longitudinal piping - pipe 20x40 mm, length 5.4m - 2 pieces.

Marking the site for the gazebo

On the selected site for the future gazebo, it is necessary to mark out places for installing pillars. First, marks are set for installing pillars at 4 corners according to the given parameters 5.4x3m, the distance between the corners must be checked diagonally, it must be the same. Next, the short side must be divided in half, respectively, put a mark at 1.5 m. The back wall of the gazebo should be divided into 3 equal parts, setting marks every 1.8 meters. For the front wall, you need to set marks, taking into account that the entrance will be located here. As an option - 2.3 m - 1 m - 2.3 m (from the corner from left to right). In this case, the entrance will be in the middle.

Pole installation

After the markup is done, you need to start preparing the pits for installing the pillars; for ease of use, you can pull the ropes. Pits should be dug to a depth of approximately 40 cm, respectively, square in shape.

It is necessary to install poles in the resulting wells and drive them into the ground to a depth of about 80 cm (for this it is best to use a sledgehammer). During installation, a level must be used to maintain the dimensions more accurately.

The next step is welding the strapping to the poles

Roof installation

The first step is to weld on the level of 2 extreme pre-prepared "triangles". For the convenience of installing the remaining, already mounted "triangles" are fastened on top of a 20x40 mm pipe 6 meters long. After that, the roof slopes are installed without much difficulty.

Structure painting

At this stage, the roof slopes should be painted, since after the roof is covered, it is quite difficult to do it qualitatively.

Powder coating is considered to be the most durable, but in this way it is possible to paint the gazebo only in production conditions. When self-coloring the elements, a primer is first applied, and then covered with nitro enamel resistant to various external influences. Or so-called "hammer" paints are used, which are applied without a preliminary primer (they can be applied even to parts touched by rust).

floor leveling

Before laying the tiles, the surface of the site must be leveled using a level. To do this, the soil is cut off in elevated areas and poured into lower ones. Then, in order to make the tiles easier to lay, sprinkle the area with a layer of sand. This type of work is carried out at the very beginning of construction.

The next step is laying the tiles. It is important to arrange a surface with a slight slope from the middle to the edges, which is necessary for the flow of water. Such a measure will eliminate the formation of puddles in the middle of the gazebo. It is convenient to use a rubber mallet to level the tiles.

The second way to arrange the floor in the gazebo is the equipment of wooden flooring. This is a cheaper and easier option. The main thing is to treat the wood with a protective preparation.

Now we need to do the roof. It can be covered with galvanized profile or boards. First one side is covered, then the second, after which the skate is installed.

The gazebo is ready. It remains to attach the tides, install the barbecue, lay out the path to the gazebo and so on, which will turn it into a place for a comfortable stay.

Forged gazebo photo

Buying a forged or metal gazebo for a summer residence is now not a big deal. The market is filled with various offers, from economy class in the form of a metal frame with a polycarbonate canopy, to high-end hand-forged ones. The following is a selection of photos of gazebos for any wallet.
