Micro-ventilation on a plastic window - practical nuances. Modern plastic windows with micro-ventilation How to install micro-ventilation on windows

More and more people are making their choice in favor of installing plastic double-glazed windows. They are beautiful, comfortable, durable, do not let in noise, cold and dirt from the street. However, their owners, along with the advantages, often note that the room has become stuffy. Micro-ventilation of plastic windows will help to solve this problem.

Today plastic windows become more and more popular. They are easy to use, do not let in noise and cold from the street.

Features of plastic double-glazed windows

PVC windows have a number of undeniable advantages:

  • have reliable mechanisms;
  • safe for health;
  • keep warm;
  • have a long service life;
  • you can choose different configurations;
  • production according to individual sizes;
  • ease of care;
  • excellent sound insulation;
  • complete tightness.

Let's look at why the problem of fresh air in the apartment is acute for those who recently replaced old wooden frames with plastic windows.

The fact is that there were always gaps in the old window blocks, besides, the tree itself is a breathable material, which ensured round-the-clock air flow from the street.

Those who have already managed to install modern window systems often note that it is stuffy in the rooms, and with high humidity condensation forms on the glass. Thus, the main advantage - tightness - turns into the fact that air circulation is disturbed.

To solve this problem, you can constantly keep the windows open and ventilate the room. But this can be inconvenient for a number of reasons:

  • in winter you do not want to cool the room too much;
  • constant drafts can lead to the development of colds;
  • summer heat penetrates the room;
  • the sash is not fixed, it can flap from gusts of wind;
  • don't forget to open the frames at least twice a day.

It is much more convenient to install one of the micro-ventilation systems on your plastic windows once. After that, the problem of stuffiness can be forgotten forever.

What is microventilation in plastic windows? It provides constant access of fresh air to the apartment without drafts and excessive cooling of the room and is carried out by installing various micro-ventilation mechanisms.

Micro-ventilation is necessary to provide constant fresh air to the room without drafts.

How to adjust micro-ventilation

There are several ways to adjust micro-ventilation in an apartment. With their help, you do not have to worry about how to ventilate your home.

Can be installed:

  • comb;
  • microslit ventilation;
  • micro-ventilation valve for plastic windows.

Comb

A comb or opening limiter is the most inexpensive way to ensure the flow of fresh air into the apartment and not open the doors wide open.

The limiter is a scallop-like bar and tongue. A bar (metal or plastic) is attached to the frame. A tongue is installed under the sash handle. Open the window, fix the tongue in the comb, and you will receive an influx of oxygen.

You can do the installation of the comb yourself or use the services of specialists. The advantages of this method include budget and ease of installation.

But there are also disadvantages: during installation, the tightness may be broken. In addition, it is possible to reduce the properties of heat and sound insulation of the system.

micro-slit ventilation

The window sash has mechanisms that allow it to be fixed in different positions. Such fittings are installed during production.

It is possible to set the micro-ventilation mode on an already finished window. To do this, you need to contact the organization that will perform all the necessary work.

This mode has a number of undeniable advantages:

  • the room is freed from unpleasant odors and harmful substances;
  • fresh air enters the apartment constantly;
  • glasses do not "cry";
  • excess moisture evaporates from the room;
  • unpleasant drafts are excluded;
  • precipitation, wind, insects and dust do not fly into the room;
  • a comfortable temperature is maintained, the room does not cool down in winter, and does not overheat in summer;
  • with microventilation, the integrity of the system is not violated, anti-burglary properties are preserved.

micro-ventilation valve

Another great way to provide micro-ventilation in the room is to put a valve for plastic windows.

By installing a ventilation valve for plastic windows, you can provide micro-ventilation in the room

It is installed at the top of the window sash. The flow of fresh air is directed to the ceiling. Even in cold weather, you will not feel a draft. There are automatic and manual types of valves on the market, which differ in their cost and the ability to adjust. In many valves, the filter can be changed so that the air entering the room is always clean. You can install the valve both independently and with the help of a specialized company.

The main advantage of the valve is that the integrity of the double-glazed window is not violated and tightness is maintained. And the climate in the room is constantly adjusted.

How to open a window for micro-ventilation

If micro-ventilation is already installed in your plastic windows, then it is very easy to use it. To do this, just turn the handle 45 degrees. A special mechanism installed in the double-glazed window will fix the sash in the desired position. A small gap is formed between the frame and the sash, not exceeding 3 mm, and fresh air will freely enter the room.

There are mechanisms that allow you to fix the sash in intermediate positions. Then the handle can be rotated 15, 45 or 60 degrees, and the frame will be set in the desired mode.

After installing plastic windows, the problem of ensuring stuffiness in the rooms becomes relevant. With the help of these methods, you can effortlessly adjust the microclimate. When installing, do not forget to say that you want to set the micro-ventilation mode. This will allow you to maintain health and well-being.

Specialization: a professional in the field of construction and repair (a full cycle of finishing work, both internal and external, from sewerage to electrics and finishing work), installation of window structures. Hobbies: see column "SPECIALIZATION AND SKILLS"

Probably, many of us have encountered a situation where the plastic window does not close from the ventilation mode, or the ventilation does not occur with the intensity that we need. In general, the issue of providing ventilation in a room where plastic windows are installed is quite interesting and extensive.

Therefore, here I will share the most important information that will be useful not only for craftsmen, but also for ordinary owners of PVC structures.

Ventilation methods

Method 1. Standard ventilation

So, if you have a plastic window installed, then the easiest way to ventilate the room is to open the sash. Modern PVC structures have two opening modes:

  • rotary - the sash fully opens the opening, turning on both hinges;
  • folding - the sash tilts into the room. In this case, the upper corner comes out of the loop and is held by a special piece of fittings.

In fact, the sash can also move up or to the side, but such systems are almost never found in our country. This is due to the fact that the sliding mechanism cannot provide sufficient tightness and pressure of the sash to the frame, and therefore the heat loss through such a window will be very large. In general, the climate is not conducive.

With a rotary opening, air exchange is very intensive, therefore it is used mainly for “volley ventilation”. Usually limited to folding mode:

  1. The sash is set to the closed position.
  2. Turn the handle up and at the same time pull it towards you.
  3. The sash tilts, forming a fairly wide gap through which fresh air enters the room.

It should be noted that not all windows have the ability to install the sash in the folding position - a separate element of fittings, which is placed in the upper part of the harness, is responsible for its implementation.

That is why it is better to think in advance whether you need this function: in principle, it is possible to convert a plastic window to ventilation, but this is associated with additional costs, and you are unlikely to cope with this task on your own.

Hinged ventilation has one significant disadvantage - sometimes the plastic window does not open for ventilation or the sash, as they say, “falls out”, hanging on one lower hinge. This situation is very common, its causes are eliminated quite simply, and I will talk about this in a separate section.

Method 2. Microventilation

Traditional ventilation by setting the sash in the hinged position is very effective, but it also has disadvantages. So, in winter, an intense air flow leads to rapid cooling of the room. In addition, you should not leave, leaving the sash ajar - attackers will open such a window in just a few seconds.

In both cases, there is an alternative - slot ventilation or microventilation:

  1. Air access to the room is provided due to the fact that when the handle is turned 450 upwards, the sash moves away from the frame by literally a few millimeters.
  2. A small metal part is responsible for this, which is built into the fittings and engages with its elements, which ensure the movement of the hinged sash.
  3. When the micro-ventilation mode is set, the window looks tightly closed from the outside. At the same time, the air continues to flow regularly - albeit in small portions, but without leading to hypothermia of the room.

Method 3. Stepped opening

Normal opening is good, micro-ventilation is also good, but sometimes both options are not suitable. That is why many manufacturers of PVC structures supply windows with either two-position opening controls or special devices that allow you to adjust the angle of the flap.

The opening regulator is located in the upper part of the frame on the inside and is a variable length lever:

  1. If you open the regulator completely, the sash will open as wide as possible, providing an intensive air flow.
  2. If the regulator lever is shortened, then the sash becomes the so-called winter ventilation - the gap is 1 - 2 cm, which makes it possible to minimize the hypothermia of the room.

An example of such a device is the Winter-Summer system in Siegenia aubi favorit fittings.

Stepwise opening also works quite simply:

  1. The so-called "comb" is responsible for the functioning of the system - a small part that is built into the fittings.
  2. When opening the window to tilt, we turn the handle to an angle of 450 (as when installing on micro-ventilation).
  3. In this case, the handle goes through four or five positions, each of which has its own sash opening width. By installing it in the chosen position, we will provide the intensity of ventilation we need.

The features of most fitting systems do not allow you to simultaneously install both micro-ventilation and a step-by-step mechanism. However, as a rule, the extreme position of stepped ventilation approximately corresponds to the thinnest slot, therefore these systems are largely interchangeable.

In addition, to implement the step-by-step opening function, you can install the simplest mechanism - a plastic comb. This part is a gear rack, which is placed on the frame and, when opened, engages with a reciprocal protrusion mounted on the sash (attached under the handle). Outwardly, of course, it does not look as neat as the built-in stepped ventilation mechanism, but it performs its function.

The advantage is the fact that the comb can be placed on any window - as long as its sash opens to the tilt / turn position. At the same time, a master is not required for installation: there you just need to tighten three or four self-tapping screws.

Ventilation valves as a special tool for air exchange

The principle of operation of the devices and their advantages

If you do not want to face problems like “the window is jammed”, “it blows from the open opening”, then instead of traditional ventilation, you can install a special ventilation valve:

  1. The window ventilation valve is a device that is usually mounted on top of the frame and closes the through hole.
  2. Inside the valve is a mechanism that regulates the intensity of air flow into the room.
  3. The simplest designs are equipped with mechanical adjustment: if we need, we open the valve, if not, we close it, completely or almost completely blocking air exchange.
  4. More complex valves operate due to a hygroscopic sensor: the higher the humidity in the room, the more intensive the ventilation.

All valves of this type provide only fresh air. For their normal functioning, it is very important that the hood works normally in the room - natural or forced.

Such devices have several obvious advantages:

  1. You can set the ventilation intensity once, and adjust it only when the weather conditions change.
  2. When airing, the window remains closed, so the level of protection against unauthorized entry is not reduced.

  1. Air enters the room gradually, and in small volumes. In addition, the ventilation hole is located in the upper part of the room. Therefore, cold air masses of air mix with warm air under (pure physics!) And the apartment does not cool down as much as with normal ventilation.

The biggest downside is the price of the devices.. So, the VENTAIR THERMO valve will cost us about 1800 rubles, and the simplest model from AERECO (with humidity regulation) - 2 - 2.5 thousand rubles.

How to install a valve on a window

The ventilation valves themselves are expensive, but in addition to buying the device, we will also have to spend money on installing it. However, if you have the skill, you can do it yourself.

I carry out the installation of supply valves according to the following scheme:

  1. The sash is removed from the hinges and installed vertically on a flat surface.
  2. From the top of the sash I remove the elements of the fittings - they will interfere with the work.

  1. I apply the mounting plate - the part that is used to fix the valve - to the sash protrusion from the outside, after which I mark the size and position of the ventilation holes with a marker.
  2. By marking with a drill, I drill 4-5 holes. Then, with a thin saw or electric jigsaw, I connect the holes, forming a long groove or two grooves separated by a thin partition.

  1. I fix the mounting plate on the sash with self-tapping screws. The junction of the plank and sash using moisture resistant silicone.

So that during intensive ventilation the air does not whistle, I also cover the opened chambers in the window profile with silicone.

  1. I repeat the operations on the frame, but instead of the mounting plate, I install a visor from the outside. The design of the visor can be very different, ranging from a simple canopy to a complex system with an acoustic curtain that reduces the volume of passing sound.
  2. I return the dismantled fittings to their place and hang the sash on the hinges.

  1. I snap the valve itself onto the fasteners of the mounting plate so that the vent is directed at an angle upwards.
  2. Using the slider or handle, I adjust the ventilation intensity, choosing the optimal mode.

This instruction is for guidance only, since the installation technology for different valves may differ (for example, there are models that are mounted without a mounting plate, directly on the window). But in any case, following it, you can install a device to provide forced ventilation through a plastic window.

Solving the problem with a wedged sash

Talking about ventilation through windows, one cannot get around the problems associated with this process. So, very often they ask what to do if a plastic window is jammed in the ventilation mode?

The reason for this situation is as follows: if you try to switch the sash to the hinged mode from the rotary mode without closing it tightly enough, then the lower corner may simply not be fixed. As a result, the sash hangs on one hinge and a lever that limits the opening.

The problem is solved as follows:

  1. We lift the jammed sash and press it against the frame, returning it to the closed position.
  2. Separately, we press the lower corner of the sash, which is opposite the lower hinge.
  3. We turn the handle, transferring it to the “closed” position - i.e. lever down.

If the handle is jammed, i.e. it does not turn, you do not need to act "by force" - just break the lever. This situation most often occurs when the sash is skewed, so you should first try to carefully eliminate the skew. To do this, it is usually enough to slightly shift the sash, applying force to the overlay, and after opening, adjust the position of the hinges.

  1. After that, we repeat the attempt to open in the ventilation mode - everything should work out!

To avoid such a development of events, it is worth installing such a detail as an erroneous opening blocker. It prevents any attempt to bring the sash into the pivot position until it is completely closed and all hinges are engaged.

Sometimes the reason that the plastic window does not open well for ventilation is the wear of the fittings. In this case, the best solution would be to remove dirt (a mixture of dust and oil often forms a dense crust on the trunnions and mating elements) followed by lubrication.

After lubrication, it is worth turning the handle several times, believing how freely the window opens.

Well, if this does not help, then only a specialist in fittings will probably help here - therefore, you should contact the master.

Conclusion

If in your house or apartment the window for ventilation never opens, you should not be surprised at feeling unwell. Ventilation is required to provide fresh air.

And modern metal-plastic structures have many mechanisms that can provide this ventilation. The video in this article will help you understand their range. , and all your questions regarding window ventilation, I will answer here in the comments or on the forum.

Such an opportunity as micro-ventilation of plastic windows can be very useful both in winter and in summer. It turns out to be the most relevant in winter, since at this time the windows often fog up, but it is micro-ventilation that makes it possible to negate such a risk and leave the windows perfectly clean and transparent.

In addition, this option will allow a small amount of fresh air to enter the room, which will circulate, and create the most human-friendly and healthy atmosphere.

Someone thinks that the disadvantage of a plastic window is its complete tightness. After all, wooden frames always have pores and microcracks that provide minimal air circulation even with the window closed.

Micro-ventilation negates this drawback, and demonstrates that a plastic window is also able to "breathe". After all, slotted micro-ventilation, in fact, provides all the same. The user can only use this feature with his own hands, adjusting everything on his own.

How to use

In fact, using this option is not at all difficult. For this you need:

  • remember that PVC windows open up such an opportunity when the handle is at an angle of 45 degrees;
  • choose any of the sashes;
  • set its handle to the appropriate position;
  • pull towards you.

Performing such a manipulation, you do not risk anything, because PVC windows are adapted for this. This eliminates other risks, such as excessive cooling of the room.

The function can be used even in severe frosts without the risk that the room will overcool.

Options: comb or climate valve

Possibilities of micro-ventilation depend on the device of the window. So, the climate valve option is very common today, and is a special system on the upper part of the sash, through which air enters - while maintaining sound insulation.

Comb competes with this variant. This system is a limiter, which is usually mounted on the middle part of the window, and allows you to slightly open it.

Advantages

Choosing the opportunity to make micro-ventilation, you get the following advantages:

  1. The window won't fog up.
  2. Unpleasant odors in the room will disappear.
  3. Heat or unpleasant odors from the street are unlikely to bother.
  4. A draft will not form.
  5. No high humidity in the room, and therefore no fungus and mold, just a healthy atmosphere.
  6. You can leave the windows in this position, even if you went outside.

As for the last moment - do not worry that the room will overcool or overheat due to the weather outside, or that intruders will take advantage of the current situation, because the gap remains really very narrow.

So we can say with confidence: this option is one of the serious advantages, and it is really worth using. In homes where there are elderly, sick people with respiratory problems, or small children, this opportunity should be used without fail. The same applies to apartments where people smoke.

Take advantage of the additional opportunities that plastic windows provide you, and your life will become even more comfortable. Micro-ventilation will give you comfort and a host of other benefits.

Unlike old wooden frames, modern plastic windows are more functional. It is not necessary to open them completely for fresh air to enter the room, it is enough to open the sash into the room or set the micro-ventilation mode. However, a situation often arises when the plastic window does not close from the ventilation mode. What to do in this case and what is the cause of the problem?

Modern window features

To ventilate and ensure normal air exchange, it is no longer necessary to open the entire window completely, it is enough to transfer it to one of the available plastic window modes.

To ventilate the room, it is enough to turn the handle up, and the sash will deviate to a predetermined position.

When the window handle is turned 45 degrees, the micro-ventilation mode is set

Micro-ventilation becomes available by turning the control handle at an angle of 45 degrees from the vertical. In this case, a gap of several millimeters is formed, which is quite enough for fresh air to enter the room.

Additionally, ventilation can be provided even without unlocking the sash, but for this you need to make changes to the design itself and install an additional ventilation valve.

These functions, as well as full opening and closing, are available thanks to a mechanism that is adjusted during the installation of the window package.

Closing problem and its causes

Sometimes a situation may arise when the sash cannot be closed. You should not immediately think about replacing the window, the reasons can be quite simple, and their elimination does not require a lot of time and money.

You can start fixing the problem with closing after studying the structure of the PVC window

As you can see, in most cases, the sashes on plastic windows do not close for elementary reasons. However, if nothing is done about it, the mechanism will gradually wear out. And the ventilation mode of plastic windows cannot be eternal, sometime you still need to close the sash.

In what ways to eliminate the problems that have arisen and how to adjust the micro-ventilation of windows?

Elimination of problems of closing of shutters

To adjust the window and return to normal settings, you need a minimum of tools and skills. It is enough to prepare pliers and a hexagon, usually four millimeters. How to adjust the sashes and fix most problems?

Sash tilt

The skew of the sash is removed by simply adjusting the position in the vertical or horizontal plane. To do this, on the inside of the window there are corresponding screws on the hinges, which are covered with decorative (protective) caps.

The skew of the sash can be eliminated by adjusting the bottom and side screws

The protection is removed and with the help of a hexagon they try to correctly set the position of the window sash. The bottom screw adjusts the position up or down, and the side screw adjusts left and right. In this case, you need to close and open the system several times to check how it locks. Adjust the screws, after which the problem simply disappears.

Loose fit

Loose fit is eliminated depending on the cause of the problem. If the seal is worn out (elasticity is lost, there are tears, etc.), then it must be replaced.

A worn seal can cause a loose seal

The same problem can be caused by an incorrectly adjusted regulating eccentric (summer mode is set in winter). The mechanism regulates the degree of pressing the sash and in the summer position the pressing is weaker than in the winter. The set mode is indicated by a marker located on the eccentric.

The degree of pressing the sash depends on the position of the eccentric

Using a hexagon, plastic windows are set to the winter position (“outside” mark). In the warm season, the marker is returned to summer mode.

wedge handle

To fix this problem, you will need to remove the sash from the frame. This is done by knocking out the pin from the top loop (after removing the protective cap).

To repair the handle, it is necessary to remove the sash

Now you need to insert the "scissors" into the groove where they should be. This process can be done without dismantling the sash, provided that the slopes do not interfere and there is access to the mechanism.

Sash in two modes

Violation occurs when the window is switched too abruptly and quickly from the ventilation mode to the closing mode. Fixing this problem is very simple. The sash is pressed against the frame by pressing on the upper corner. The lock is clamped to the frame. The handle is moved to open mode. The sash is locked.

Drainage frame

If the drainage frame has moved away, then it is returned to its place, having previously cleaned the entire window frame well.

The drainage hole is designed to drain water from the window block

When the sashes sag due to the deformation of the entire window, it is impossible to do without the intervention of specialists. Most likely, a complete replacement of the window will be required. In this case, the problem arises as a result of wall movements or shrinkage of the house (if it was recently built). Replacement is carried out, making sure that such deformations will not be repeated.

If the window has changed its geometry due to improper installation, then all work on its replacement must be performed by the installer!

Micro ventilation setting

Micro-ventilation is a built-in function of a modern window, when by turning the handle to the desired position, the sash leaves a gap of several millimeters for air to enter from the street. But you can also install additional devices for organizing normal air exchange.

Comb control

The comb is an additional fitting that works as a limiter for the angle of the sash in the ventilation mode. The window can be installed with a slope of 30, 45 or 60 degrees.

Using the comb, you can set the desired level of ventilation

A plastic comb with recesses for the limiter is mounted on the frame. A hook is installed on the frame itself. It works like a limiter. When switching to the ventilation mode, the frame tilts, and the comb is placed with the desired recess on the limiter.

Valves for micro-ventilation

It is also an additional fitting that is mounted on the window profile. There are two types of valves: manual and automatic. Manually, the user himself sets the required mode of air flow. Automatic valves regulate themselves, providing ventilation depending on the temperature and humidity in the room.

Automatic ventilation valves adjust the level of ventilation depending on the climatic conditions

There are also systems that are located in the handle, they are more aesthetic, and in terms of functionality they are not inferior to their counterparts.

Modern windows allow you to set various modes to normalize air exchange. Minor problems can be completely eliminated on your own, simply by adjusting the window to the desired position. In most cases, closing problems occur with a normal settings failure.

Plastic windows are a modern solution for the improvement of every home. The disadvantage of PVC products is the lack of fresh air. This problem can be solved by conventional micro-ventilation. To do this, turn the window handle at an angle of 45 °.

The room must be ventilated 4 times a day for 15 minutes. Otherwise, the following ventilation of plastic windows is performed:

  • slot micro-ventilation, which involves the installation of a special mechanism in the profile of the structure, the size of the gap is 2-3 mm;
  • comb or multi-stage micro-ventilation, which consists in mounting different slots, this technology is not used in the folding system;
  • valve (mounted at the top of the window).

Installing a comb is considered the cheapest method of home ventilation. Installation work is carried out on the window profile. The comb is made of plastic. The technology under consideration has 2 disadvantages:

  1. Deterioration of heat and sound insulation.
  2. The fragility of the structure.

Slotted micro-ventilation of plastic windows provides for the installation of the system in the window profile (during production). Of the minuses of this technology, experts single out the formation of a gap (between the sash and the frame), through which dirt and dust will enter the room. A plastic window can be provided with forced ventilation. The mechanism used to supply the home with oxygen is convenient to use and has high efficiency.

A valve is mounted in the upper part of the sash. It provides constant circulation of air masses in the house. When installing the considered mechanism, the sound-proof and heat-insulating properties of plastic windows do not change. The valve is self-adjusting, but it is not adapted to work with significant temperature fluctuations. Therefore, growths of ice and snow form in the structure, the operation of the mechanism and the thermal insulation of the house are disrupted.

Advantages of ventilation

The ventilation system provided in the plastic window has the following advantages:

  • preventing hot air from entering the house on hot days;
  • reliable protection against drafts;
  • air hygiene support;
  • ensuring constant air exchange in the house;
  • prevention of hypothermia in the children's room;
  • protection against formation of condensate on window sills;
  • long service life of the mechanism;
  • the ability to fix the window sash.

You can install such micro-ventilation with the help of professionals. Upon completion of installation work, specialists conduct briefings. If you turn the handle of the window frame by 45° and pull it towards you, then a gap of 1-3 mm will appear (after clicking). System installed successfully. Some mechanisms are mounted in the sash profile. In this case, micro-ventilation is triggered by turning the knob down by 135°.

Adjustment of such a system is carried out with the help of professionals. Otherwise, you will need a Torx screwdriver. Adjustment of the mechanism is carried out in two places (upper and lower loop). Pre-check the diagonals against sagging. From the lower element, the indicator should be longer (0-3 mm) than from the upper loop.
