Ceramic tile estima technical characteristics. Technical characteristics and scope of estima porcelain stoneware. Areas of application for Estima porcelain stoneware

Porcelain stoneware gained great popularity at the end of the 20th century. Despite the fact that 60% of the factories for its production are located in Italy, Estima porcelain stoneware is mass-produced in Russia. Its application is very diverse, due to technical characteristics. Let's take a closer look at material properties and uses.

Porcelain façade

In the 70s of the last century, the Italians created a completely new material for interior decoration, both inside and out. The properties and qualities of this product have won the recognition of builders and finishers around the world. It's all about its composition and production technology.

It is an artificial material obtained from quartz sand, white clay, feldspar and mineral additives. Dyes for it are various metal oxides. A complex, step-by-step technology for obtaining porcelain stoneware mass is determined by stringent requirements for the final product. Mixing and sedimentation workshops operate according to a special system developed by Italian inventors. Further, the resulting mass is pressed under high pressure. This is necessary to destroy the smallest voids. Depending on the product, the mass is subjected to repeated pressing to make the material even more durable.

Material for the manufacture of porcelain tiles

After pressing, the firing stage begins at a temperature of 1300 degrees. At this temperature, the mass fuses, and all components form a single, heavy-duty material for building decoration.

The entire manufacturing process is controlled by computer technology. Each stage is tracked automatically. In the production of Estima, Italian equipment is used. All lines and machines are produced in the homeland of porcelain stoneware, and Italian specialists work alongside Russian engineers. All this determines the high quality of the material.

Technical characteristics of Estima porcelain stoneware

Types of Estima porcelain stoneware

Estima has numerous species, which are primarily subdivided according to the type of surface.

  1. Glazed porcelain stoneware is represented by several lines:
  2. Facade porcelain stoneware with a polished surface is another type of smooth material for facade decoration. It comes in four types:
  3. There is a wide range of materials with the possibility of producing unpolished and polished surfaces. Consider only a few of them, as the most popular in finishing work:
  4. Unpolished porcelain stoneware has an extensive number of series. It is used for exterior and interior decoration, as well as for flooring in rooms and around the building. Here you can find both wood and stone texture:

Enterprises for the production of Estima try not to be limited to the production of standard series, but are constantly expanding the range of goods. This draws attention to the material from consumers. Today you can buy products with dimensions of 300x300 mm, 600x600 mm, 300x600 mm and 600x1200 mm. The most popular sizes are 300x300 and 600x600 mm. The variation in the dimensions of the sides according to the technical standards of the enterprise should not exceed 0.5 mm. It is these indicators that come out during the manufacture of plates.

The caliber of the product must be indicated on the package with tiles. For example, if you see the designation of gauge 0 for tiles 600x600 mm, then this means sizes 592.5-594.1. And caliber 7 implies tile sizes of 604.4-606.0. Pay attention to this when buying! If you purchase different-sized packages, then your tiles will not fit tightly. It is this mistake that can explain the negative reviews about Estima's allegedly different-sized tiles.

Different series of tiles have different thicknesses, as they differ in surface texture from 8 to 12 mm. This is also worth paying attention to when finishing with different types of porcelain stoneware products.

Estima slabs are painted over the entire volume most evenly, therefore, when joined, they do not form significant boundaries.

Areas of application for Estima porcelain stoneware

As already mentioned, porcelain stoneware slabs are used in various finishing works due to their properties.

  • The most wear-resistant and unpolished types are laid on the floor in and around buildings. Especially often porcelain tile is in demand in those buildings where the most intensive traffic takes place: railway stations, airports, shopping centers. They are trimmed with saunas and swimming pools in sports halls.
  • This material is in great demand when finishing the bathroom. Here they can veneer both the floor and the ceiling and walls. It does not allow moisture to pass through, is resistant to temperature changes, which often happens in the bathroom. Its resistance to abrasion and resistance to aggressive environments is used when lining the kitchens of restaurants and cafes.
  • Today, porcelain stoneware slabs are in great demand for creating ventilated facades. High strength and resistance to all external influences makes porcelain stoneware "clothes" of the house its additional protective shell.

Application of Estima products

Facade cladding with Estima porcelain stoneware

Many builders consider Estima porcelain stoneware to be the most effective facing material, and this is no coincidence. Such a facade will last more than half a century without additional special care. He is not afraid of blows, wind, precipitation, frost. Under it, you can hide uneven walls and unsightly communications. Porcelain stoneware is an excellent soundproofing material. It is easy to attach even alone and is inexpensive.

Usually it is used for arranging ventilated facades. The plates themselves are equipped with special fasteners, or mounted on clamps that press and hold the facade parts in the right place. A ventilated facade involves the construction of a batten, and this type of finish requires a metal frame. A heater and a membrane wind protection fit under it.

Between the outer cladding and the inner insulating layer there is a free air corridor, due to which the ventilation of the outer walls is carried out. The porcelain stoneware shell of the ventilated facade is not combustible, which is very important during its operation, since the fire will not be able to spread through the skin. Presentable appearance and cost ratio will make it possible to make a facing of a building of any area.

The photo shows a diagram of the design of a ventilated facade with porcelain stoneware slabs. Estima plates are fully suitable for this, as they have high technical indicators that are necessary for such work.

Video story about Estima porcelain stoneware

Watch the video material and consolidate the knowledge that you received in the process of reading the article.

If you decide to use Estima porcelain stoneware for cladding the facade of your house, then you may need the help of specialists. In the case when experience and confidence will allow you to do the work yourself, you will not only save money on paying a team of finishers, but you will also be able to be proud of the high-strength, spectacular finish of your home, and even made by yourself.

The use of porcelain stoneware is constantly growing, which is a consequence of its excellent technical characteristics and the possibility of using it in different conditions. Beautiful appearance, bright and rich colors, imitation of other materials on a surface lined with porcelain stoneware constantly attract new supporters of the use of such material. Often they choose Russian-made Estima porcelain stoneware, and they are not alone in this choice, about a third of the entire demand in our country is covered by porcelain stoneware of this brand.

In order to better understand the opportunities provided by Estima porcelain stoneware, it is necessary to touch on its features and characteristics in more detail. These include:

  • wear resistance;
  • the ability to withstand the effects of high and low temperatures and its change;
  • resistance to chemically aggressive substances;
  • hardness and mechanical strength.

It should be noted right away that during the production process, Estima porcelain stoneware gets better technical characteristics than those established by European standards.

So, if, according to the requirements of the standards for the dimensions of the sides, it has a tolerance of ± 1.8 millimeters, then according to the standards adopted at the enterprise, the spread should not exceed ± 0.5 millimeters. It is this variation that is basically obtained in the production process.

About the caliber of porcelain stoneware

In light of this, it is worth immediately talking about such a concept as caliber. After firing, the tile may have a different size. So, according to current regulations, Estima 600x600 porcelain stoneware, like tiles from other manufacturers, can have a size from 592.5 to 606. To avoid problems for the buyer, manufacturers pack tiles with similar sizes in one pack. These dimensions, according to which tiles are selected, are called caliber.

So, a tile with a size of 592.5-594.1 falls under caliber 0, and a tile with a size of 604.4-606.0 falls under caliber 7.

The specific caliber is indicated on the package and it is necessary to pay attention to it, it is worth buying a tile of one caliber.

If you violate this requirement, you can get tiles of different sizes. It is this - personal inattention and ignorance of the characteristics of the material that can explain the reviews, Estima porcelain stoneware from this or another manufacturer, when they talk about tiles of different sizes from different packages. So, in each of them there was porcelain stoneware of a different caliber.

About different types of surface

Porcelain tiles can be made with different types of surface. Thus, Estima technical porcelain tile, presented in the Estima Technica Standart collection, has an unpolished surface (matte porcelain tile) and a thickness of 12 mm against the usual 8 mm from other manufacturers.

This thickness allows porcelain stoneware to withstand a load of 400 kg, while maintaining all other advantages inherent in it. The best use of such tiles will be its use for flooring in industrial premises, workshops and garages. So, for example, if you use Estima 300x300 12 mm porcelain stoneware for flooring, Saturn (ceramic tiles for flooring from the collection of the same name) will not be able to provide coverage of the same quality.

Another feature of this porcelain stoneware is the unpolished surface. It, unlike polished, is less slippery, and it is best to use similar porcelain stoneware for the floor, Estima in this case takes care of the safety of everyone who walks on such a floor, its use reduces the likelihood of slipping.

Tiles are also produced with a different surface - polished. It can be used for decoration in a wide variety of cases, but it is best used for wall decoration and where the load on it will be negligible. Only our ignorance can explain the use of such material as estima porcelain stoneware for finishing floors in places of heavy traffic.

And in all other applications, Estima porcelain stoneware tiles with a polished surface serve as an excellent finishing material and allow you to design any room in accordance with individual requests.

About the coloring of ceramic granite

A distinctive feature that porcelain stoneware, including Estima, has is a bright and saturated color. It is obtained by using metal oxides as dyes. During the manufacturing process, all components, including dyes, are distributed evenly throughout the entire volume of the material, from which the tile is then pressed.

As a result, the finished tile, for example, Estima 300x300 porcelain stoneware, is dyed over the entire volume. Even if the surface of the tile is damaged (chip or scratch), then under it will be the body of the tile of exactly the same color. This makes surface damage less noticeable.

About the use of Estima porcelain stoneware

The excellent technical characteristics of porcelain stoneware are already laying down options for its use. Very often it is used as a finishing material for floors. In any premises - industrial, residential, commercial. Especially where there is heavy traffic - at stations, shops, public places, etc. This use of porcelain stoneware is due to its high wear resistance, due to which it is able to withstand significant abrasive loads without damage.

No less often, porcelain stoneware is used as a material for wall decoration, especially in the bathroom and kitchen. In fact, there is no such place in the house where porcelain stoneware cannot be used for decoration. Window sills, steps for stairs, countertops in the kitchen are made from it.

Finishing steps with Estima porcelain stoneware

Very often, porcelain stoneware serves as a material for finishing the facades of buildings, thereby providing additional protection to the house and reducing operating costs for its maintenance. Taking into account such possibilities of porcelain stoneware, everything is done so that it is possible to buy Estima porcelain stoneware for use in a wide variety of conditions and in a wide variety of finishes.

It should be added that in addition to the tile itself, the manufacturer offers a large selection of auxiliary elements for finishing, such as skirting boards and steps.

About the Estima collections

Estima porcelain stoneware is presented on the market not by individual tiles, but by a large number of collections. Often, the name of the collection speaks for itself - ANTIKA, COUNTRY, TECHNICA STANDART, STANDART, etc. Each collection contains tiles of several sizes and various colors. Each collection has its own unique features.

For a quick orientation in the variety that Estima porcelain stoneware represents, the catalog of finished products will be your faithful assistant. Just for reference, Estima has a preference for yellow, peach, pink, white, and sandy colors. In addition, the tile size is usually closer to medium and large.

However, this does not mean that only these colors are present in the products. So, in the ANTICA collection, the surface of the tile imitates an old worn stone, and there are polished and matte tiles. But the Estima porcelain stoneware standard collection offers a choice of almost all possible colors with diverse shades. Here, for example, looks like Estima St 01 unpolished porcelain stoneware

And this is how Estima St 03 porcelain stoneware looks like

And this approach, which guarantees the opportunity to choose porcelain tiles not just of different colors, but also of different shades, ensures a wide demand for such products. Moreover, the price of Estima porcelain stoneware is quite acceptable and corresponds to economy class products.

The popularity of porcelain stoneware for cladding various surfaces is constantly growing. This material owes its excellent technical characteristics and the ability to use it in different conditions. Russian-made porcelain stoneware Estima is undoubtedly the leader of the domestic ceramic granite market. Large production volumes make it possible to cover about a third of the product's demand in our country.

Possibilities of ceramic granite Estima

Technical characteristics of the material and its features, such as:

  • wear resistance;
  • resistance to extreme temperatures, high and low, and its change;
  • chemical resistance to aggressive substances;
  • mechanical strength and hardness - this is what underlies its demand

According to some characteristics, Estima porcelain tile (Russia) even exceeds European standards. For example, if the normative size standard has a tolerance of up to ± 1.8 mm, then the standards adopted at the enterprise allow a spread of no more than ± 0.5 mm.

The tile does not wear out even when laid in rooms with high traffic and constant crowds of people. The basic basis is polymer or silicate clays, which are initially pressed in special forms. To give greater strength, the composition is fired. This material is not fragile, it is not only not easy to break it, but it is even difficult to scratch it.

It impresses with its resemblance to natural granite. This is facilitated by special dyes that are added to the composition during the production process, as well as fine additives imitating stone. The surface of the tiles does not look featureless, it does not blow cold, so porcelain stoneware for the floor can also be laid in the room.

On the importance of caliber

The dimensions of the tiles after firing may vary. For example, 600×600 , according to existing standards, it has dimensions of 592.5–606. To avoid possible problems, manufacturers pack products with similar sizes in one pack, in other words, they calibrate them. So,

  • for tiles 600x600, sizes 592.5-594.1 fall under caliber 0,
  • and 604.4-606.0 - for caliber 7.

The caliber is listed on the packaging. When buying, you should try to buy products of the same caliber. Otherwise, you run the risk of purchasing floor tiles of different sizes.

Surface types

The material is produced with various types of surface:

  • polished (mirror smoothness),
  • unpolished (natural and economical),
  • embossed (with anti-slip effect),
  • polished (matt polished).

For example, Estima Standard technical porcelain stoneware, presented in the Estima Technica collection, is matte with an unpolished surface. Thickness - 12 mm, although other manufacturers have a standard value of 8 mm. Thus, technical ceramic granite is resistant to a load of 400 kg without losing all other inherent advantages. Laboratory tests have shown that in terms of its strength characteristics, it is almost 2 times higher than similar indicators of standard 8 mm ones, the breaking load of which is 206 kg.

Externally, the surface of the tile has a different structure, color and design. By texture, the samples of this brand are almost indistinguishable from natural wood, stone, metal and even leather, which allows you to realize any design fantasies.

Color features

Each collection is distinguished by brightness and color saturation. Such a product is obtained due to the use of metal oxides as dyes. During the production process, all components, including dyes, are evenly distributed throughout the mass of the material from which the tile is pressed.

As a result, the finished tile, say, the Estima 300x300 product, turns out to be dyed throughout the mass. Even if the surface is damaged, the middle part of the same color will be visible under it.

It is clear that surface damage in this case is hardly noticeable.

Advantages of ceramic granite

Products of this brand are distinguished by high technical and operational qualities:

  • durability and strength;
  • wear and moisture resistance;
  • high resistance to abrasives and temperature changes;
  • chemical neutrality and hygiene;
  • uniform color throughout the thickness of the material;
  • frost resistance.

This type of flooring is great for heated floors, especially since, compared to wood, it is much colder.

Estima Collections

A bright representative of this brand is Estima Standard porcelain tile, presented in three sizes:

  • 300x300, 8 mm thick;
  • 400x400 of the same thickness;
  • 600x600 mm, 10 mm thick.

The working material is distinguished by a wide range of colors, with a variety of shades for each color. Its design is light and concise. The cover is practical yet effective. According to the texture, the product can be polished or matte. The use of these textures in combination gives a very original light reflection effect. Functionally, it is a fairly strong and durable material, which is relevant for rooms with a high load, say, commercial or industrial facilities.

Rainbow Estima is a homogeneous mono-color material, resistant to abrasion, frost-resistant (over 200 cycles), with high hardness and minimal water absorption, almost zero. It has three available formats and nine color options.

Estima Trend porcelain stoneware imitates the pattern of granite - here both large granules and clearly marked veins, which together create a feeling of naturalness and depth of the material.

The factory also produces an unpolished Estima Chalet , imitating the texture of wood, and each tile is unique in its pattern, like a natural board and the Stone collection, which perfectly repeats the structure of stone, “warm” Antica, repeating the texture of worn stone and “delicate” Dream, imitating marble, etc.

Along with all its advantages, the material also has a rather attractive cost.
