Expansion of the doorway

We collect and mount the box

We carry out waterproofing, namely, we use a diffusion self-adhesive tape and fasten it over the entire surface inside the opening.

In the widest point of the profile, we make a transverse file according to the size of the thickness of the salve.

Door leaf preparation

After installing the loot, we proceed to install the door leaf. The process consists of the following steps:

When the foam is completely dry, you can hang the door leaf. It is recommended to embed a ventilation grill into it - this will significantly extend the life of the door.

Opening preparation

The top and bottom also need to be trimmed. In this case, the size will be: 600 mm (the width that a standard door has) + the thickness of the box multiplied by 2, + 2 gaps of 2.5 mm.
Doors can have a different width, for example, 700 mm or even 1000 mm, then you need to substitute this value in the calculations.
Since a piece of profile protrudes from the bottom and top of the box - a vestibule for the door, it will have to be removed by sawing it with a jigsaw and chipping it with a chisel.
Next, we are engaged in inserting canopies, depending on how the door will open. Canopies are placed above and below, retreating from the edge of 200-250 millimeters, make marks using a pencil. The groove for the canopy is selected with a special tool - a milling machine.
If you are afraid to ruin everything, you can buy hinges that have a special design, thanks to which they do not need to be embedded.
To assemble the box, connect 2 structural elements together, such as a long post and a short jumper. Holes are drilled on the side of the rack, into which self-tapping screws are screwed to connect the two parts of the box. Next, do the same with the three corners that remain.
After making the loot, do not forget about the lower threshold, which facilitates the installation of the door itself.

Door leaf preparation

Now let's prepare the door leaf for installation:

The hinges are installed in the same way as when mounting on a loot, so we will not describe this process in detail.
Next, we fix the latch, for which you need to drill a hole in the center of the end of the door, the diameter of which is 25 mm. It should be located at a height of 85–90 cm from the bottom. The hole depth is the length that the latch has.
Now we will drill the holes necessary to fix the handle using a drill with a diameter of 20 mm. It is placed opposite the end hole, the canvas is drilled through. It is better to drill in turn from two sides. As soon as you see the tip of the pen when drilling from the back, start drilling from the second.
Using a chisel, select the groove into which the decorative overlay is installed. To determine its size, you need to place the latch in the hole previously formed and circle the bar using a pencil. To fasten the latch from the end of the door, 2 self-tapping screws are used, which are tightened with a screwdriver.
When mounting the handles, a protruding square is placed on them. A small screw is used to fix it. Next, the square is threaded into the latch hole. Then attach two handles.

Bathroom door installation

At this stage, we fix the door frame. To begin with, fill on the rail facing the bathroom so that it extends 10–15 centimeters beyond the loot. When attaching the plank, drive in the nails so that they are then covered by the trim. Place the box in the doorway, aligning it with the horizon. After installation, it is necessary to blow out the gap formed between the box and the opening with mounting foam. Since foam can put pressure on the box, spacers should be provided in advance. We use at least 3 pieces. One should be located opposite the latch, the others - evenly in the spans that remain. They should have a size equal to the width that the canvas has and 5 mm. After the box has been foamed, wait a day for the foam to polymerize. After waiting this time, you can put the door to the bathroom - to do this, connect it to the box using canopies.

Thus, it is not necessary to invite specialists to install the door to the bathroom. All work is quite doable on your own, if you carefully follow the technology.

It is very important that the doors for installation in the bathroom have good moisture resistance, easily absorb water splashes falling on them and not be deformed even with a high steam content. That is why for many models provide a special coating.

Only 1/3 of the space should be foamed. The foam will then spread and fill the voids.
You need to foam from the bottom up.
The foam should harden. This usually takes about a day.
The door must remain stationary.
- Then we cut the loops. As a rule, two hinges are installed, but three pieces can be installed.
- It is necessary to attach a loop to the end of the door. Trace the outlines with a pencil.
- With a chisel, cut out a recess for the loops.

Cut grooves for loops with a chisel

We fasten the hinges with self-tapping screws to the door leaf.
The height of the top loop attachment should be 15-20 cm from the top edge.
The height from the bottom edge for attaching the loop is 20-25 cm.
Then we attach the hinges to the door frame.
We cut and fasten the lock.
Insert the door into the door frame.
We insert wedges between the door and the frame at a distance of 2 mm from above and 4 mm from below.
We mark on the box the place of attachment of the loops and cut out the recesses with a chisel.
We cut the loops.
We put the door on the hinges. It should open and close easily.
Next, we fix the platbands with self-tapping screws or decorative nails.
