Important installation points

When connecting the power cable to the boiler electrodes, it is important to prevent the electrodes from turning while tightening the nut. To do this, you need to use two keys. With one wrench, you need to tighten the nut, and with the second, hold the lock nut of the electrode.

If the boiler electrode rotates, the landing sleeve may burst, as a result, the boiler will become unusable. Such failure is not covered by the warranty.

But you should not immediately plan the electric heating of a Galan private house. This system is characterized by a number of operational features that must be taken into account:

  • Do not use distilled water. The ionization process will require the content of salts in the coolant. Therefore, the manufacturer recommends pouring ordinary drinking water (after salting, in the proportion of 1 tablespoon per 100 liters), or branded liquid for heating;

For more powerful systems, it is recommended to purchase boilers of the Geyser and Vulkan series. Firm "Galan" began its existence in the 90s of the last century. The enterprise was created specifically for the production of electrode boilers. Today "Galan" produces electric boilers of two types: electrode and heating elements.

Electrode heating boilers "Galan": the principle of operation

Probably everyone knows what boilers on heating elements are, but few know the principle of operation of electrode boilers. In short: two electrodes are lowered into a coolant of a certain composition, on which an alternating voltage with a frequency of 50 Hz is applied.

Under the influence of an electric current, the coolant molecules are split into ions with different charges (therefore, such equipment is also called ion boilers), and begin to move towards one of the electrodes, depending on the polarity. When moving, a lot of heat is generated. Since the current is supplied to the electrodes with a frequency of 50 Hz, the polarity of the electrodes changes 50 times per second. Therefore, the ions move continuously, heating the coolant.

The volume of electrode boilers is small, the coolant heats up quickly and to high temperatures. This creates a sufficiently large pressure in the boiler. So, in principle, the system can work without a circulation pump: it is necessary until the coolant warms up, after which it can be turned off.

The lineup

There are three lines in the group of electrode boilers:


Outwardly, the boilers are very similar. The main difference is the size and power. In the line " hearth» The smallest boilers are produced (both in terms of size and power). The power of these heating units is from 2kW to 6kW. Weight - from 0.9 kg to 1.1 kg, dimensions - diameter 35 mm, length depending on the model:

  • 275mm "Galan Hearth 3";
  • 320mm "Galan Hearth 5";
  • 335mm "Galan Hearth 6".

The next group of heating devices « Geyser» more powerful. There are only two boilers in this line: "Galan Geyser 9" for 9 kW, and "Galan Geyser 15" for 15 kW. Here the weight and dimensions are larger: 5.0 kg and 5.3 kg, and the length is 360 mm and 410 mm with a diameter of 130 mm.

The third line Volcano»Designed for fairly solid premises. There are only two boilers: "Galan Volcano 25 and 50" with a capacity of 25 kW and 50 kW, respectively. Weight: 5.7kg and 11.5kg; length 460mm and 570mm with a diameter of 180mm.

As you can see, even powerful Galan boilers are very small in size and weight. The price is also low (the most budget models cost about $60). But the equipment must work under the control of automation - this is the only way to achieve electricity savings - by optimizing the thermal regime. And the cost of automation must be added to the boiler. You will also need room sensors - to maintain a comfortable temperature and for the same savings, and this is also money. Not the biggest, but still.

Connecting electrode boilers

Each box with equipment contains detailed instructions for connecting and preparing the equipment for operation. The installation is not difficult, but there are a few things you need to know. In order for the circulation in the system to be sufficient, the boiler must be installed vertically. The wiring diagram is shown below.

You can use electrode boilers in systems with underfloor heating: both where it is only part of the system, and where Galan works only on a low-temperature circuit. There is, of course, a difference in the scheme, and it is visible in the photo below.

In addition to these nuances, it is also worth considering a number of provisions that are necessary for efficient and economical heating:


In general, there are disputes about the efficiency of electrode boilers: it will not be possible to bypass the law of conservation of energy, and how much energy is consumed, so much is allocated (a little less, given the inevitable losses). But there are still savings when using electrode boilers. And it is formed due to direct heating: heat is directly transferred to the coolant, without being lost on heating a foreign body (heating element). Because of this principle, the inertia of the boiler is also less, that is, heating / stopping occurs almost instantly.

One of the features of electrode boilers is the exactingness to the coolant. As long as you can't use it. Can:

  • drinking water corresponding to GOST;
  • distilled water, to which add normal salt at the rate (5 g of salt per 100 liters);
  • special coolant - not general purpose and not automotive.

Heat carriers suitable for use in electrode (ionic) boilers are provided by Galan itself. There are antifreezes "Flow" and "Argus". Argus has a freezing point of -40 ° C, has a quality certificate, it is safe for human health, inert in relation to the elements of the system.

Requirements for heating systems

For efficient operation, the heating system must meet the following requirements:

  • Electrode boilers are installed only in a closed type with a membrane tank (the volume of the tank is calculated as 1x10).
  • The boiler is located vertically, its upper edge is not higher than the level of the batteries.
  • Strapping options:
    • riser and boiler block pipe diameter 32mm (1″/1/4);
    • highway - 25mm;
    • piping to radiators - 20mm.
  • To increase the ionization, it is recommended to install a metal pipe (not galvanized) of the same diameter as the boiler outlet at the boiler inlet for the first 120 cm. It is also desirable to have this segment vertically.
  • The total power of the radiators should be 5-7% less than the power of the boiler.
  • Grounding required.
  • Properly position climate control devices.
  • A safety group is required at the top of the system (blast valve, pressure gauge and air release valve).
  • Recommended radiators: bimetallic, euro-standard cast iron (produced in Turkey and the Czech Republic), aluminum (from primary aluminum). When using registers, it is imperative to observe the volume of the system, as well as the use of Mayevsky taps and radiator valves.

Electric boilers "Galan" on heating elements

In this group of heating equipment, two types of boilers are produced: TEN heating boilers "Standard" and "Lux".

Group "Standard"”has an unusual structure for electric boilers: it is a small cylinder, sealed on both sides, to which coolant supply and return pipes are welded. They differ in a very low price, high efficiency and decent economy, which requires automation. "Galan" recommends its automation "GAlan-Navigator".

Electric boilers "Galan" on heating elements have an unusual design

Boilers of this group operate in closed heating systems with natural or forced circulation. They are very small in size and have a fairly large set of capacities:

  • Hearth Turbo. This line includes 7 modifications with a power step of 1.5 kW. Power from 3kW to 15kW, length from 350mm to 1050mm, weight from 2.5kg to 10kg.
  • Geyser Turbo. There are only two models in this line: 12 kW and 15 kW, 500 mm long, 8 kg in weight.
  • Volcano Turbo. There are three modifications with capacities of 18kW, 24kW and 30kW. The length of the boilers of this series is 490mm, the weight is 10kg.

The bodies of the boilers are made of stainless steel AISI 316L, which has an increased load capacity, long service life and can withstand temperatures up to 1300 ° C. The boilers produced today are equipped with new heaters and blocks of them, which have smaller dimensions and a longer service life. The boilers have three power levels, which allows you to save energy without sacrificing comfort. Also in the new boilers, the mass has become less, the inertia of the boilers has been reduced. All this allows you to save up to 20% of electricity compared to conventional boilers of the same capacity.
