How to do it: You can make your own saw cuts, but it's faster and easier to buy ready-made saw cuts, which are sold in many online stores and craft stores. "Ready" saw cuts are good because they do not have splits and cracks, they are properly dried and can already be sanded. You can pick up saw cuts of different diameters, heights, different types of wood and make a whole set of candlesticks. You can make a cell for a candle in a saw cut using a drill with a forstner drill (about 150 rubles) or another drill that can make a blind round hole of the diameter you need (for example, it can be a “ballerina”, a wood crown, a spiral or drill bit, etc.).

Idea 2. Wooden block candlestick

And here is another idea for making a candlestick out of wood with your own hands, however, this time from a bar. However, you can replace the bar with a dried log or a board of a suitable size.

How to make it: To make a large wooden candlestick with your own hands, you will need:

• Dry planed or unplaned wooden block (better wider so that the candlestick is stable). In this master class, a 100 × 100 mm bar was used.
• A drill and a Forstner drill of a suitable diameter (for your candles) or any other drill that can cut a blind round hole of a small depth of 0.5-1 cm or more. A drill with a diameter of 50 mm was used here.
• Square.
• Roulette.
• Pencil.
• A hammer.
• Stain of the desired color, rags or brush.
• Rubber gloves.

Step 1. First of all, you need to cut a piece of the desired length from the bar with a saw or jigsaw. In this project, the candle holder was made to decorate a large table, so it is 90 cm long. Think about how many candles your candle holder will hold, and how much space there will be between them. Then mark the cut line, cut off the bar and lightly sand its end with sandpaper.

Step 2. Next, you need to draw markings on the bar for placing candles. To do this, first determine the length of the indents from the edges of the candlestick (in this MK there are indents of 7 cm), then simply place the candles on the bar with equal intervals, circle them and mark the center of each circle with a dot.

Step 3. Using a drill and a Forstner drill, cut blind round holes of small depth. Do not worry if the edges of the cells turn out to be rough, for our rustic candlestick this is only a plus.

Step 4. Give the tree an aged and sloppy look by tapping the ends of the candlestick with a hammer. You can make dents in only a few places or on all visible sides of the bar.

Step 5. Now you need to give the tree color, while maintaining the visibility of its pattern and beautiful texture. To do this, simply rub the stain with a soft cloth into the surface of the product in one layer, and then let it dry.

Idea 3. Candlestick from a bottle

Glass bottles make not only elegant or vintage candlesticks, but also caps. Here are some ideas that you might like and that are very easy to implement.

Such candlesticks, made by hand from cut bottles, can be beautifully packaged and presented to loved ones.

How to do it: There is nothing easier than making a candlestick from a bottle with your own hands as in the photo above, because for this you just need to cut it and fill it with wax with a wick, or just put a small candle. There are two ways to cut a glass bottle.

• Method 1: Soak a thick cotton thread in alcohol (eg nail polish remover), then wrap it around the bottle. Light the thread with care and immediately begin to rotate the bottle around its axis so that the fire spreads along the entire length of the thread. Now immerse the bottle in boiling water for 3 minutes, and then immediately transfer it to a container of cold water. Due to a sharp temperature drop, the glass will crack where the burning thread was tied. True, if the glass is too thick, for example, like a bottle of champagne, then the procedure will have to be repeated 2-3 times.
• Method 2: If you have a glass cutter or glass drill, then you can use them. Wrap the bottle with a hair tie, and then draw a line along its contour with a glass cutter. Burn the cut line, immerse the bottle in boiling water for 3 minutes, and then quickly transfer it to cold water.

When the bottle breaks, sand the sharp edge first with coarse sandpaper and then with fine grit.

Now that the candlestick is almost ready, you can insert the wick into it, fix it in a vertical position (eg, with Chinese sticks as shown in the photo) and finally fill it with pre-melted paraffin.

We paint the container with a dense layer of acrylic paint, decorate with glitter or beads.
  
• Glass lantern. We will need an ordinary glass jar, paint and masking tape. We cut out any figure from the masking tape (star, heart, deer, snowman, etc.), glue it on a jar, paint on top with a dense layer of thick paint. When the paint is completely dry, carefully remove the masking tape, place the candle inside, and the New Year's lantern is ready.

• Glass jar.
• Black paint. Ideal in this case would be acrylic, which is used for decorative work. You can also use special acrylic paint on glass.
• Small synthetic brushes in size #2 and #4.
• Wide flat brush - flute. The flute hairs should not be soft, but should have elasticity.
• White acrylic paint in a can.
• Isopropyl alcohol-sperey and dry tissue paper.

Step-by-step instructions for creating a candlestick from a jar

New Year's candlesticks from cans with their own hands it's very easy to do. Here we will offer you step-by-step instructions and photos of such crafts. But first, everything should be told about the creation of such crafts.

1. So, first of all, it is worth washing the jar with plain water and soap. Be sure to remove all labels from it.
2. Wipe the outside of the jar with isopropyl alcohol. Remember that paint adheres better to a degreased surface.
3. Now you should prepare the template. It should be inserted inside the jar. You need to fix the template in the bank. He must not ride inside the bank. For example, for this purpose it is worth using a string from a guitar. It will allow you to press the template tightly against the walls of the jar. You can also glue the template with small pieces of tape to the side of the jar.
4. In work, you need to hold the jar with your hand. And the place where you will hold it with your hand needs to be wrapped with a napkin.
5. The drawing should be outlined with black paint. Use a thin brush. If the entire design is transferred to the surface of the can, then the template can be removed from the can. Now paint over all the planes that are inside the drawing.
6. It is worth saying that the first coat of paint will be uneven. And some places will shine through. But remember that this will be normal. The first coat of paint must dry. After it dries, apply the next layer. After applying the second layer, the jar should dry.
7. Now it's time to make a hook for a candlestick from a glass jar. Wrap the neck of the can with the middle of the piece of wire. The wire ring should fit snugly on the neck of the jar. The ends of the wire should be bent up. They should be twisted together tightly. Their height will be 15-20 cm from the top of the candlestick.
8. The jar must be placed inside the cardboard box. You need a box in order to spray artificial snow on a can. And when working, it should be used in order not to stain everything around. Spray the snow on the top third of the can.
9. If another paint is used in the work, then a small amount of it should be laid out on a piece of foil. The paint from the foil should be taken with the end of the flute. In this case, the paint on the brush should not be very much. Now take the brush with one hand, and the pile should be at the top. With the help of the second hand, bend the pile away from you and immediately release. Make sure that the splashes of paint evenly fall on the surface of the can.
10. When the snow dries, place a candle inside the jar. And if the jar has a decent volume, then 2-3 candles are inserted into it at once.
