Terraria has been around for about five and a half years now. During this time, this spacious sandbox has managed to please countless players and acquire a decent number of updates and thousands of custom mods, the list of which stretches somewhere indefinitely.
The following modifications, which I consider to be among my favorites. They add new items, soundtrack, settings to the game and almost completely change this 2D playground from Re-Logic studio. There are even mods that turn the game into a full fledged RPG, so you'll always find something interesting for your picky tastes. Have fun experimenting!
DownloadLet's start with the big one, shall we? Tremor Mod Remastered is one of the best mods that comes as close to a complete Terraria conversion as you can get. With 522 items (including weapons), seven NPCs, a bunch of mobs, and six new bosses, the mod's development team (there are seven of them) wasn't kidding when they said, "Our goal is to make the game even bigger, fill it with more content." In addition, Tremor adds an exclusive Expert Mode to captivate even the best players, the intrepid treasure hunters.
imkSushi's crafting mod
Terraria is basically a game about growth - the character, their skills and your survival skills. And this is a very significant role. If we talk about perseverance and successful collecting, then the imkSushi mod will allow you to craft anything, anytime. With it, all those items that are usually found in chests and loot are available from the very beginning of the game, which is great for action-oriented players. You can even buy items from NPCs to summon bosses you've already defeated.
Terraria can compete with any RPG in terms of time eating without any mods, but N Terraria turns the game into a full-fledged role-playing adventure with all its hallmarks: classes, races, level system, NPC companions and even quests. Everything's there. A great way to deepen an already long-running piece. True, at the same time, the game becomes tougher than adamant, but this only makes it more beautiful.
An essential mapping tool for the adventurer. An invaluable utility that pulls a world map from your save and makes it possible to view it, allowing you to figure out the shortest path to resources. With TerraFirma, you can peek at the contents of chests, search for statues, and even discover an underground desert.
Master in Terraria Conversions. Tremor, already mentioned in this list, is a great mod, great even, but Thorium is head and shoulders above it. Imagine new bosses, new NPCs, enemies, items, a new multiplayer heal class, new anything-you-can-imagine - this mod improves upon vanilla Terraria in every way imaginable. Bosses have unique ranged attacks, making Expert Mode only suitable for the most cold-blooded and skilled players. Or those who do not mind changing keyboards / gamepads often.
Another useful utility that allows you to rummage through items: specify the location of the Terraria.plr file, and you can edit the character's backpack, enhancing items or, if you are a sneaky trickster, creating new things for yourself.
The utility, however, is not limited to the new sparkly equipment, with its help you can find any item from the game, and then simply drag it into your inventory. The utility is browser-based, and to run you just need to follow the link.
Like Tremor and Thorium, this mod adds a wild amount of new features to the game, both standard and unique: weapons (melee, ranged, magic), armor sets, various items and accessories. The mod is ready to boast five new types of mined ore and tiles, not to mention ten new bosses, each of which has its own set of strengths and weaknesses. Calamity may not be as fancy as its aforementioned counterparts, but the creator of the MountainDrew mod regularly conducts polls on the tModLoader page, where he collects player feedback on his innovations.
tAPI
A powerful tool for creating, managing and tweaking multiple mods at once. A Re-Logic employee helped develop it, although the disclaimer insists that "this mod is a community creation from start to finish."
tAPI makes it possible to combine small mods into groups that are easy to customize. Whether you want a weapon from Dark Souls, a new inventory manager, or animal masks, the utility lets you mix and match it all.
Omnir describes his Nostalgia Pack as a mod based on Final Fantasy, Tibi and . It adds over 100 new creatures, several new bosses, and a bunch of great special items. You can even fight with Sauron, and this is exactly what video games lacked.
I’ll make a reservation right away: this mod requires tAPI and Grox’s Base Mod to work, but it’s worth it.
If you just want to level up while staying in vanilla Terraria, then Terraria Leveled is your choice. Apart from this feature, it does very little, but the elegant interface and well-placed progress bars make it a pleasure to use the mod. Gear is level dependent, so you don't have to grind experience for a new set of armor or a legendary sword.
This mod overwhelms the base game with new weapons, armor, and accessories. The add-on includes Lihzarhd Lantern (“fires random laser beams”), Piranha Staff, which summons piranha pets, and Soul of Pow, which stuns enemies.
Of the non-obvious additions - a huge expansion of the crafting tree. Some of the accessories are priceless, and I recommend that you take a close look at this mod. This is another mod from the tAPI family, but it also works solo, which is nice.
After a hundred hours (or so), you may start thinking about changing the musical accompaniment. There are many music mods for Terraria, but I personally use the excellent Wavebank, which adds classic tracks from Ocarina of Time to the game. There are plenty of other options on the game's forum, including original compositions and author's interpretations of melodies from Mario and Halo.
Installing is extremely easy. Open the Terraria content folder, make a copy of the Wave Bank file and store it in a safe place. Drag the sound pack into this folder and make sure to rename it to Wave Bank. Voila, the next time you start the game, the music from the pack will start playing.
This mod is already a good couple of years old, but it continues to amaze with the pace of its growth. Super Terraria World turns the game into a complete RPG (the mod calls itself a "standalone MMORPG conversion mod"), including quests, skills, NPCs, and everything else you could expect from an RPG. The mod is ideal not only for those who want to get extra experience from playing Terraria, but also to complicate its structure.
Another useful tool that doesn't really interact with the game. This is a companion program.
Terranion is a lightweight search mode guide for Terraria that runs in the background during gameplay. Need info on a boss, where to mine cobalt, or craft an item? It is easy to find anything, and since the mod takes information directly from the game, it is one hundred percent correct. Make a note to run it every time you have a Terraria session.
2) Unpack the contents of the archive and drop it into the game folder (steam/SteamApps/Common/Terraria), confirm the replacement of all files;
3) Download the appropriate modifications from the pages of the forums or go to step 8 for an alternative method;
4) Launch the Terraria.exe shortcut and select "Mods" from the main menu;
5) Select the "Open Mods Folder" function - an empty mods folder will open, where you need to reset the modification files with the ".tmod" extension;
6) In the main menu of mods, press the "Reload Mods" button;
7) To find out if the above worked, create a world, chop down a tree and ask the Guide to show you all the crafting recipes - you will immediately understand if it went or not.
8) tModLoader also allows you to download mods automatically through the Mod Browser menu, but there you will have to rummage through hundreds of mods manually, so build your downloads by rating.
List of modifications
Legend of Terraria 3 - adds more than 90 monsters to the game, as well as 50 drop items from these monsters (accessories, sets, all the little things). Just a small addition to the main game, which will not affect the balance of the original, nor the performance of other additions. Most of the bestiary is already known to us slugs, skeletons and wolves, and the rest of the creatures do not go beyond the atmosphere of the usual game world.The Yoyo Overload - adds about three dozen yo-yos, especially where sets already exist, but without this great weapon (for example, bee yo-yo, meteor, pirate, etc.). Nothing special, but a very nice addition that will in no way make it worse. Most of it drops from monsters (particularly bosses). Some instances have unique properties and special visual effects.
Calamity is a fat mod that adds a lot to all areas of the game's progression, which directly affects the world and balance. The main task of the mod is to make the passage more diverse thanks to the additional links in the "plot" chain. By itself, the mod contains almost no new monsters, it also does not introduce townspeople or additional mechanics, which is why I recommend pairing it with Legend of Terraria 3.
We kill Desert Scourge in the desert before death Eyes of Cthulhu - a new type of ore will appear Aerialite in the upper layers of the dungeons (you will need a pickaxe of about 70% efficiency or higher);

Ersion - basically adds all sorts of trinkets, but also introduces completely new mechanics ... After the death of any monster, you get one soul. Once you collect enough, you can activate the book Necronomicon and assign yourself a hero class. Then it remains to pump this class by sacrificing an increasing number of souls. In fact, this is such a long pumping that complements the main progression of the game.

Installing mods and a short overview of tmodloader
Installing mods for Terraria is painfully easy and convenient, as you just need to download an application called "tmodloader" from the official site of the game terraria.org.
Just scroll down the page until you come across the word download, and then select the version for your OS and click on it, the download will begin.
Note: Before doing the above action, make sure that your characters and worlds are securely saved in a separate place, and if you want to transfer them to a modified version of the game, then simply copy their files to the files of the modified game, since the modified game does not will see them from the folder with the regular game.
Now you need to copy all downloaded files to the root folder with the game, agreeing to a replacement. Next, you need to launch the game from the jungle tree shortcut, and only then will you have a modified game loaded. Don't be scared when you roll back the game to version 1.3.5.2: this is due to the fact that the latest version of tmodloader was made specifically for this version (remember, the latest version of the game is 1.3.5.3).

- mods- this button shows you a certain menu, which displays all the mods you have installed. Here you can enable, disable and reload them, you can also create a pack with mods, which will store all currently downloaded mods, this will be useful in case they are lost.
- Mod Browser- this button allows you to install mods directly in the game itself (of course, provided that the mod authors themselves added them there). Just start typing the name on, and the mod you need will be found by itself, and then click the download button opposite it.
- Mod Sources- the last button is responsible for the sources of mods, namely here you can open the folder with mods and see those that were installed by you not through the browser. This button will be useful for you if you know some cool mod name, but can't find it in the browser.

A fairly well-known mod from our Russian developers. He adds a lot of new things to the game, and also has his own Russian-language wiki.

Quite an interesting mod that stands out from the rest, namely its highlight - Revengeance Mode, which is an enhanced version of the vanilla Expert mod. When you turn on this mod, you get 2 new scales - Adrenaline and Rage. Adrenaline increases if you don't take damage during a boss fight. When receiving damage, respectively, the level of adrenaline drops and it will have to be raised again. It can only be used during boss fights. Fury slightly increases your damage for a few seconds. Earned as you take damage. Also, the mod adds a lot of items, like any other global mod.
Note: If you want new music to play in the new biomes added by the mod, you also need to install the Calamity Mod Music mod separately.

It allows you to build a Central Grid to store all your items there. If you wish, you can even set up multiple access points to use the storage from anywhere in the world. You can search your storage for items with a specific name, filter by item type, and more. Magic Storage can even create items for you.
Magic Storage will improve and increase storage as you progress. It is available from the start of the game, but with limited power. As you defeat bosses and earn more materials, you will be able to upgrade your vaults to perform more functions and further expand the capacity. Interestingly, there is a similar mod for Minecraft.
imkSushi's
A small but useful mod that only changes the vanilla game, namely adding some crafting recipes, as well as special tokens that drop from until the player takes a certain action. Tokens can be used to make things that are found in chests, which will be very useful for those who have already searched all the chests in their world, but did not find any necessary thing.
Tokens are of the following types:
- Pre-boss Token - Dropped by monsters until the player kills their first boss.
- Post-Goblin Token - Dropped by monsters after the player completes the Invasion event.
- Post-Skeletron Token - Dropped by monsters after the player defeats the Skeleton.
- Hardmode Token - Dropped by monsters after the player defeats the Wall of Flesh.
- Post-Pirate Token - Dropped by monsters after the player completes the Invasion event.
- Post-Mech Token - Dropped by monsters after the player defeats Gemini, Destroyer, and Skeletron Prime.
