Do-it-yourself toy box on wheels. Toy storage box. Fabric bag or decorated ottoman

A toy box is a necessary element of any children's room. Cleaning should be a fun activity for the child, and each toy should have its own place. You can buy a basket or chest of drawers in the store, but it is much more interesting to create a beautiful box yourself.

Such an item can be easily made with your own hands and embody your best creative ideas, pleasantly surprising children. In addition, the implementation of this design will take only a few evenings.

A do-it-yourself toy box can be made of cardboard, chipboard or sewn from fabric. You get a capacious container in which you can put all the board games with toys.

Cardboard box

The easiest option is a cardboard box. To work, you need the following set of tools and materials:

  1. Thick cardboard box.
  2. Decoration fabric or self-adhesive film.
  3. Scissors, needle, thread and glue.
  4. Tape and ruler.

First you need to cut off the upper part, glue the sections with tape.

Option to decorate a regular cardboard box with colored paper and curly scissors

If it is planned to make a product with handles, then the holes must be made in advance and also smooth the cuts with tape.

Then make measurements of the exact parameters of the box. An inner and outer cover is sewn from the fabric, and then both parts are sewn on top. For sheathing, a dense, well-cleaned material is selected.

Another option to decorate the box is to glue it with a cloth or self-adhesive film. This is a very simple procedure. To implement it, you need to cut out several pieces of fabric or film according to the dimensions of the walls and bottom. At the same time, do not forget to leave 1-2 centimeters for bends. First, the outer part is glued, then the inner.

Important! Corners and joints should be given special attention, if glued poorly, the fabric may disperse.

Children will be happy to decorate the box with unusual patches with you.

If you need handles for the box, they are cut out of fabric, sewn together and inserted into the slots. You can choose any method of fastening - glue or, alternatively, simply tie the ends of the fabric together.

Decor options

  1. On top of the fabric or film on the box, you can stick a variety of patterns. For example, make smiles or faces with eyes and a mustache.
  2. Ordinary jeans for decorating the box will add additional pockets to the design.
  3. The toy basket is diversified with buttons, zippers and opening elements.
  4. If you decorate a box for storing children's toys with colored paper, then images of cartoon characters or children's photographs are suitable as decor. Bright colorful images can be cut from gift bags.

Tip: Another option is a fabric toy bag. It can be in the form of a backpack or a fabulous house.

Original boxes can be woven with your own hands from newspaper vines dyed with food coloring

Chipboard product

To store children's toys, you can make a product from plywood or chipboard.

The walls and bottom of the box are fastened together with self-tapping screws, here, of course, male help is required. To fix the lid of the box, it is best to use special spring holders. This design will prevent children from pinching their fingers. For easy movement of the storage box, it is better to install special wheels on it. They are sold in every hardware store.

The product must be varnished. The varnish must be transparent and non-toxic. The walls of the product can be decorated with various figures, numbers or letters. These parts are easy to make out of wood with a jigsaw and paint them in different colors, or ask the children for advice, maybe they already have ready-made parts in their bins, for example, from puzzles. Then glue the decoration to the surface with glue.

You can decorate a wooden basket using a stencil and bright colors.

Important! For very young children, you can cover the wooden structure with foam rubber, and on top with colored fabric.

There are many interesting ways to create a convenient toy storage system.

  1. An old suitcase preserved in the attic can become an unusual box for children's toys. Such a suitcase is easily pasted over with colored paper or sheathed with a colorful fabric.
  2. A great way to store is to use plastic boxes. They can be placed throughout the room or attached to the walls in a chaotic manner.
  3. If you have your own yard, then you can make a great place to store outdoor toys. To do this, 1-2 tires are painted in bright colors and placed on top of each other. It turns out a great tank for baby supplies.
  4. An original solution for the interior of a children's room can be the use of metal and plastic buckets. Buckets must first be painted and placed in different parts of the room. Plastic products can be connected using drilled holes.
  5. From fabric, there are many options for roomy and practical products. For example, you can make a beautiful basket or sew a wall structure from pockets for storing small toys.

Having spent a little time and showing imagination, you can please your child and create a fabulous atmosphere in his children's room.

Are you tired of homeless toys that constantly get under your feet and end up in the most unexpected places at the most unexpected times?

You can buy or order a "house" for them, or you can make it yourself. What do we choose? Shelving, cabinets, shelves?

The most practical option is a toy basket. It is also the easiest to make. Even mom with the most minimal handicraft skills can make a house-basket for toys.

Why do needlework if the choice of baskets is wide and you can easily buy them? Each new mother answers this question in her own way.

Some people are simply interested in making an original and useful thing with their own hands, others take up a needle (and other, sometimes unexpected tools, but more on that later) for reasons of economy, others are not satisfied with even the widest choice and they strive to embody their own vision of a toy basket.

In any case, before cutting off once, it is worth thinking over and determining the main parameters of the future toy house seven times.

What toys will be stored in the basket?

As a rule, soft toys are stored in baskets, less often - dolls. If a child has balls, skittles and other equipment for sports games, it is better not to store them in a common basket.

Even if the “native” packaging from them has fallen into disrepair or is inconvenient for some reason, it is better to make a new one for the designer or a developing game, but always a separate box.

What size should the basket be?

Focus on your child's abilities. It is easy to calculate the height of the basket: it should be convenient for the child to put toys in it and take them out.

What are the baskets made of?

Whenever possible, choose natural materials. If it is a fabric, then it should be durable, but at the same time breathable. Threads are not just strong, but very strong.

If the design requires the presence of cords or any details, then the requirements for them are the same: they must be safe for the child and also, if possible, made from natural materials (or with minimal synthetic additives).

Basket one, ennobled

If you generally don't mind buying a toy basket, but don't like the look of the ones they offer you, you can make a handmade compromise.

We take the cheapest basket with a wire frame. We remove the cover (as a rule, in such baskets it is made of not very high quality and certainly not made of natural materials). Leave the base frame. We select a durable and beautiful fabric for the outer and inner parts of the cover.

Further, the algorithm is simple. We cut out two rectangles according to the size of the future basket (leave an allowance for a seam on the outer one, and an additional allowance for a hem on the inner one), stitch them so that we get two “pipes”. Cut out a round bottom (according to the size of the wire frame).

We attach the bottom to the outer and inner parts of the cover. We bend to the outside and carefully iron the allowance left for the hem.

We insert a wire frame between the double walls of the resulting “pipe” (this is easy to do if you compress it like a spring).

We fix the frame, preventing it from opening (you can use pins, clothespins and other improvised materials).

We sew the ironed hem on the machine. We remove clothespins-pins, straighten the frame. We stack toys.

Basket second, economical

A soft original basket for toys can be literally assembled from unnecessary things that are in every home. Alteration of junk and leftovers is now, by the way, in vogue and is called "recycling".

What are we looking for on the mezzanine, in the pantry and in the closet?

  • old jeans (three or four pairs);
  • old bedding or just an unnecessary chintz in a pretty pattern;
  • a piece of linoleum corresponding to the intended size of the basket;
  • a synthetic winterizer of the same size as linoleum (you can take batting or just an old unnecessary blanket).

We wrap the linoleum with a synthetic winterizer, batting or a piece of a plaid that has served its purpose, fasten it again with a stapler.

Jeans are cut into identical squares, we sew from them a “chess” (if they are of different colors) canvas according to the size of the “pipe” from linoleum.

We cut out the inner part from the fabric (the same one with a nice pattern).

We connect them into a single canvas and sew the sides.

Cut out the bottom of the fabric, sew to the inside.

We cut out the same round details from synthetic winterizer, linoleum, denim patchwork.

Sew the denim bottom carefully by hand. Linoleum and synthetic winterizer remain inside this "layer cake". So that the bottom does not hang out, it is stitched around the edges with a strong thread using a thick, strong needle.

Third basket, textile, frameless

A soft basket, shaped like a box, keeps its shape not due to the wire and not due to the "pipe" of linoleum, but due to the sealant - synthetic winterizer or non-woven fabric.

Its pattern is simple and resembles a cross. You will need three such “crosses” - one from the main fabric, the second from the “lining”, and the third from non-woven fabric or synthetic winterizer. You will need two more rectangles for the handles.

Then the lining and the sealant are laid on top of each other, chopped off or swept away so as to get a rectangle and stitched. After that, sew the top of the basket.

Turn the outer and inner parts of the future basket inside out, insert them into each other and sew the top edge, leaving a small hole so that the finished basket can be turned inside out.

The finished basket is turned inside out, the edge is straightened and carefully ironed, the last line is made along it as close to the edge as possible.

Textile baskets are a great option for young children. They are non-traumatic, easy to wash, hard to damage. And also a textile basket for toys itself can turn into a toy, becoming for a while a “house” not only for your favorite dolls, but also for the baby himself.

For children 5-6 years old and older, you can make wicker baskets (from a vine or paper tubes imitating it), or assemble a basket from plastic bottles by cutting them into squares and connecting these motifs with an awl, hook and strong threads. But that's a completely different story.

When a new man appears in the family, the parents arrange a room for him with wisdom and prudence. And, of course, they understand that storing toys is an important part of the interior of a children's space. He will be “friends” with them for many years, constantly replenishing the stock. Parents should think in advance where the child will put their valuables. Is it convenient for him to get them. Is it easy for him to put them back in place to keep the room in order.

Today, there are many ways to place children's things, and some of them you can make yourself. Getting to know each of them better, it is easier to evaluate their advantages and notice their shortcomings. And over time, make a wise choice.

Toy storage: original ideas

Reasonable parents try to teach a child to order from infancy. “Every toy has its place,” they regularly remind. Obedient kids proudly put their valuables in a safe place. Storage of toys in the children's room implies a certain system that must be planned in advance.

As you know, the arsenal of items for games is quite wide. It includes:

  • Stuffed Toys;
  • plastic beaters;
  • dolls;
  • cars;
  • balloons;
  • balls;
  • educational games;
  • constructor;
  • coloring pages.

It is impossible to remember absolutely all the valuable items of young children. But every parent can take care of a place to store toys.

When choosing a suitable design, you should take into account the age of the child, his temperament, gender and safety measures.

Of course, it is much easier to install capacious storage facilities in a huge room than in a small one. Fortunately, modern technologies help to equip such rooms with convenient storage of toys. Consider several design options.

Roomy shelving

Shelving is often used to save room space or to zone it. They are built along the wall or as a space partition. In the lower part of the structure, compact containers for children's trophies are placed. It can be:

  • boxes;
  • baskets;
  • pull-out containers.

A TV or music center is installed in the center of the structure, and on the top there are cabinets for rarely used things. Such furniture for toys in the nursery is purchased in specialized stores.

Stylish baskets

Wicker containers that can be placed on a low cabinet look original in the interior. Even if the baby does not reach them, they put toys there that are temporarily not interesting to him. Such baskets will also wonderfully fit into the bottom of the rack.

Some parents install shelves on the wall, on which they put baskets with toys. This design is a kind of decor for a children's room, where toys are in the most prominent place. The only negative is that small items will quickly gather dust if they are not covered with a beautiful cape.

When installing shelves on the wall, you should use reliable fastening methods. Otherwise, they can harm the baby, who will fold or take toys from baskets.

cute pockets

Among the various storage ideas for toys, cute pockets stand out. Often they are made by hand. For this, improvised materials are used:

  • dense fabric;
  • polyethylene;
  • Knitting thread;
  • ropes for macrame.

Depending on the volume of items, pockets for toys come in different sizes. Small polyethylene options are attached to the wall of a wooden structure. Put there:

  • small details of the designer;
  • mosaic elements;
  • needlework items;
  • paints, pencils;
  • scissors;
  • plasticine;
  • jump rope.

Soft toys, cars, dolls and its accessories will fit in voluminous fabric bags. They try to place such storage of toys in the field of activity of the child. As a result, he will be able to easily get them out of there and put them in order to keep the room in order.

Homemade bag for children's treasury

Over several years of life, a child accumulates many valuable items for leisure. A self-made three-dimensional design helps to solve the issue. This is the toy bag shown in the photo. To stitch it you will need:

  • a piece of cloth;
  • dense structure polyethylene;
  • threads;
  • scissors;
  • sewing machine.

The design consists of three elements: the base (bottom), lace and the main part. First, two round pieces are cut out of a piece of fabric. They are the dense bottom of the product. Then the main part is cut out, taking into account the selected width and height of the storage. A line is made at the top and a lace is pulled into it. Using a sewing machine, the prepared parts are connected. The toy bag is ready.

The size of the structure should be chosen in accordance with the number of items to be stored.

Drawers

The first thing that comes to mind when you need to quickly hide something is to put it under the bed. Little kids do just that. Therefore, sensible parents solve this issue with the help of a drawer for toys under the bed. Often such designs are sold in furniture stores. But skilled guys make them with their own hands.

Drawers can be installed in the lower tier of the crib, which is climbed by stairs. A play area is equipped here, where everything you need is at hand.

Chest on wheels

To implement this simple idea, you will need to take a wooden box and wheels from a skateboard. With the help of special fasteners, the parts are connected and receive an original mobile chest. You can put not only small toys into it, but also volumetric designers, cars, dolls. It will be convenient for the kid to use such storage at any time of the day.

Bench with a secret

This original idea allows you to combine the interior of a children's room with a place for toys. The bench is placed under a window or wall, where it occupies a small area. And under it they mount a capacious box. It can be on wheels, retractable or sliding along the rails. The advantage of the design is that it is easy to get objects out of there and put them in their places.

The opportunity to show skill - do-it-yourself storage

Almost all parents face a problem: if there are small children in the house, it is very difficult to achieve order. Everywhere you look, toys are scattered everywhere. On the floor, under the bed, and even behind the TV. Fortunately, this issue is easily solved by enterprising people. Armed with tools, they create with their own hands various toy storage systems for their beloved children.

Each design should harmoniously fit into the overall interior of the room. Be roomy, safe and accessible for the baby.

wooden box

To make such a storage, you will need simple tools and materials:

  • self-tapping screws;
  • scissors;
  • chipboard panels;
  • roulette;
  • wooden blocks for legs;
  • wheels (optional)
  • decor for exterior decoration (fabric, paint, color film).

Of course, a man with at least some carpentry skills can make a box for children's toys with his own hands. It will easily connect the necessary parts with a screwdriver. Attach the legs or wheels to the base and the box is ready.

Mom will take care of the design with pleasure. She will paste over the container with a colored film, and inside she will make a fabric lining. Reliable storage is ready.

Box

In appearance, this product resembles a box, but it is made of thick cardboard. The main advantage is that the baby will be able to independently turn over the storage and take any item from there. The do-it-yourself toy box shown in the photo helps to present this product in action.

For its manufacture you will need:

  • large packing box;
  • scissors or a sharp knife;
  • scotch;
  • self-adhesive film with a beautiful pattern;
  • glue;
  • children's gift bag.

First, cut off the top of the box. The edges are glued with adhesive tape, and the sides, the inner surface and the bottom with a self-adhesive film. Flowers, animals and cartoon characters are cut out of a colorful gift bag. Then carefully glued to the side as a decorative decoration.

For a girl, the box can be decorated with various bows, ribbons or balls.

fabric basket

Such storage is made from any kind of fabric. The main thing is that the tones are not catchy and do not irritate the baby. To sew a children's toy basket with your own hands you will need:

  • sewing machine;
  • scissors;
  • threads:
  • interlining;
  • the cloth.

When the material is at hand, they get down to business. First, cut out a square blank. Then it is well glued with interlining for density and shape. Handles are made from fabric, after which they are sewn to the workpiece. Fast, simple and original.

For the product, it is desirable to use different types and colors of fabrics.

Good wooden container

The most durable toy storage is a product made from natural material. It will be able to rest the valuable things of more than one generation of children and be passed on as a trophy to the inheritance. To make a wooden container for toys with your own hands, you need to take the following materials:

  • boards;
  • plywood;
  • additional details from old furniture.

First of all, even experienced craftsmen make a sketch of the future product on paper. Then prepare the tools:

  • a hammer;
  • screwdriver
  • fasteners;
  • loops;
  • saw;
  • wood glue.

From the prepared materials, side walls (4 pieces), a lid and a bottom are made. Then, with the help of fasteners (screws), they are connected into a single structure. Hinges are mounted for the lid. The finished storage is painted with all sorts of patterns or painted in different tones.

All wooden surfaces must be carefully sanded to protect the baby from unexpected injuries.

Extraordinary paper construction

Often, after buying a refrigerator or TV, there is packaging that is a pity to throw away. But for caring parents, this is a great find. Making a rack for toys from boxes with your own hands is not an easy task, but worth it. There are materials, it remains to buy paint, glue, decor, self-adhesive film, kraft paper and prepare a tool:

  • stationery knife;
  • jigsaw for durable cardboard;
  • building or regular hair dryer;
  • remnants of unused wallpaper.

With the help of cutting tools, the structure is first cut out and deep shelves for toys are made. Then they are connected together, turning into a beautiful rack. A few touches of decor and the storage is ready.

Such a structure can be built from several cardboard boxes. To do this, they are glued with their sides, after which they are installed on top of each other. The finished structure is covered with a special color film. Such a rack, although not very durable, can serve for several years as a temporary storage of the baby's valuables.

Organization and storage of toys - video

In apartments where there are small children, perfect order is a rare guest. Toddlers put toys wherever they want. But there are a few tricks that will help teach the child to order, and make the interior more attractive.

Shelving

Young children love to have their toys in sight. That is why it would be wise to place a rack with open shelves in the living room or children's room. It is desirable that the furniture is low, as some kids are interested in climbing not only on chairs. The rack will perfectly accommodate books, puzzles and other toys, and it will be convenient for the child to run up at any time and take his favorite bear from the open shelf. Instead of a rack on the wall, you can place modules or wooden boxes that will perform the same functions.

Baskets and boxes

It is convenient to store children's toys in soft textile bags, wicker baskets, cardboard boxes and plastic containers. You can even make such storage systems with your own hands, using unnecessary boxes left after purchases or old things that have long been superfluous in the closet.

Wooden boxes

Wooden crates can also turn into toy organizers, as long as they are processed in such a way that there are no burrs on them. To make them look more attractive, it is advisable to paint them with bright acrylic paint. You can fix the wheels on the box and make a lid. So, an ordinary wooden box will become a mobile bench with a storage compartment.

Textile pockets

In any hardware store, you can find an organizer with many pockets for storing small items that hangs on a wall or door. It is easy to make it at home, using the same old things, fabric scraps. In such an organizer it is convenient to put dolls and soft toy friends of the baby.

Bathroom storage

All kids love to take water procedures. Sometimes it turns into a whole ritual. Therefore, in the bathroom, you also need to find a place for all kinds of ducklings, boats, fish and other toys. Plastic buckets, metal and plastic nets are perfect for storing them. It is important to wash and dry toys after each bath to prevent bacteria from accumulating on them.

There are several other important aspects to consider . Knowing about them, parents will always be calm for their child and for the interior in which they live.
