Pillows on the sofa (toys) with their own hands: patterns

The photos in the article clearly demonstrate how cute and original homemade accessories for sofas look.

There are several manufacturing technologies for such products:

  1. The usual square or round shape is complemented by the necessary details (ears, tail, muzzle).
  2. Two details of a complex contour are sewn together in the form of a corresponding animal.
  3. A voluminous soft toy of a large size is made, convenient to put your head on it.

Options are presented in order of complexity. So if you are a beginner, choose the first method. For advanced craftswomen, any method is suitable.

If you decide to take a ready-made sample, just print it at the desired scale. If the template does not fit on an A4 sheet, you will have to glue it in two parts using adhesive tape.

We present to your attention the easiest template that even a schoolgirl can do the job. It is necessary to cut out two mirror parts from the fabric, sew them on the wrong side, leaving a hole, turn them inside out, fill with padding polyester and sew everything up with a hidden seam.

The next template is made in the same way, only the final step will be to make the tail as a separate part and sew it to the base.

To any of the previous templates, you can add a muzzle, the details of which are easy to use from the pattern of the previous section. The owl shown in the figure below is also performed. All small parts are attached to the front side of one of the base parts. If you make them from fleece, then they can even be glued last.

These are so simple, and at the same time original, you can make do-it-yourself pillow toys. Patterns (photos below) of dogs and bones will make an interesting composition for your sofa.

The collar is easy to arrange by tying the finished item with a satin ribbon or braid. The bone pattern shows cuts that should be made after sewing the seams from the inside out, so that it is more convenient to turn the product inside out and the fabric does not warp.

Even if you choose the simplest version of the pattern, when using bright fabrics or a variety of textures, you will get quite spectacular

So, you saw that you can easily make pillow toys with your own hands. The patterns selected in the article are very light. Even a beginner can cope with such templates.

Quick article navigation

To update the interior of the children's room and make the baby's bed more comfortable, it is enough to decorate it with a couple of decorative pillows. We offer creative mothers to sew them with their own hands, because this is done quickly, simply and on a budget. The main thing here is to come up with an interesting design and choose the right materials.

In this article, we have collected 30 inspiring photo examples of baby pillows for beginners and experienced craftswomen, and also prepared 3 step-by-step DIY sewing workshops:

  1. Pillows-toys in the form of a cloud.
  2. Letter pillows.
  3. Patchwork pillows.
  • Combine different pillows with each other, so the interior will be more fun. The composition can be combined by the shape, color or print of products. When choosing fabrics, it is easiest to focus on the colors and patterns of the wallpaper, as well as on the rest of the textiles in the children's room. For example, pillows can echo curtains, sofa upholstery and, of course, a blanket.
  • Thinking about the style and decor of the future product, consider the style of the interior. If, say, bright toy pillows can be sewn for a modern interior, then products of soothing colors and traditional styles in the form of rollers and pillows with ruffles or tassels are more suitable for a modern interior, as in the photo below.

  • For sewing baby pillows, it is advisable to use natural and dense fabrics (linen, cotton), which are much easier to wash, say, felt, and look much more beautiful than synthetics like fleece.
  • Before sewing, the fabric should be washed and ironed, then you will sew already taking into account the shrinkage of the material.
  • It's clear that baby pillows need to be washed frequently, but how do you wash decorative pillows that don't have pillowcases and need to keep their shape at all times? As a filler for children's spy toys and soft sides, we recommend using:
  1. Sintepuh (not to be confused with synthetic winterizer);
  2. Holofiber.

These materials are hypoallergenic, keep their shape well after washing, and they can be washed in a washing machine at low temperature even with a spin cycle. Unfortunately, synthetic winterizer, natural fluff, buckwheat, batting, foam rubber and other fillers do not have such properties.

  • If you want to make a decorative and sleeping pillow at the same time, for example, a cushion or a side for a crib, then it is recommended to sew not just a pillow, but a pillowcase with a pillowcase. After all, removable pillowcases are much easier to wash, besides, by sewing one pillowcase and a pair of matching pillowcases, you can update the interior according to your mood.

Master class number 1: Sweater cloud pillow

As you know, the world of children's interiors has its own trends, and such pillows in the form of clouds are just at the peak of popularity. They are good because they are easy to sew, look cute and are suitable for decorating the room of both a boy and a girl. In this master class, we will tell you how to sew a soft cloud with your own hands from any sweater in a pleasant color.

Materials:

  1. Sweater (preferably made of polyester, not acrylic. By the way, instead of a sweater, you can take an old cotton sweatshirt, T-shirt, etc.);
  2. Sintepukh;
  3. Sewing accessories;
  4. Sewing machine (if any);
  5. Paper for making patterns.

Step 1. We draw a pattern on paper in the form of a cloud or any other figure that you like.

Step 2. Turn the sweater inside out (!) and attach the resulting template (including the back layer of fabric) to it with pins as shown in the photo. Then we trace the contour of the cloud and begin to cut out blanks with an indent of about 0.7 mm (for allowances).

Step. 3. Now we begin to grind the two parts of the pillow along the previously drawn contour, but be sure to leave about 10 cm unsewn.

Step 4. In the places where the cloud is rounded and in the corners, we make cuts - this will make the shape of the pillow neater and more correct.

Step 5. Turn the pillow inside out and stuff it tightly with filler, helping yourself, for example, with a Chinese stick. Lastly, close the opening with a blind stitch.

Woo-ala! The baby pillow is ready!

Based on this master class, you will be able to sew pillows of various shapes and colors. For example, a cloud may have arms and legs, beady eyes and rosy felt cheeks.

Instead of a cloud, you can sew a star, a raindrop, a moon, a heart or candy. See examples of such pillows in the following selection of photos.

Master class number 2: Pillow-letter

And now we offer to sew another simple, but original letter pillow, which will help to personalize the nursery or bed, if, for example, there are more children.

Materials:

  1. Textile;
  2. Sintepukh;
  3. Sewing accessories;
  4. Sewing machine.

By combining 3 types of fabric, you can use leftover leftovers and make the pillow design more fun.

Step 1. Select a letter, draw it (or print it in A4 format) and cut it out along the contour.

Step 2. Now we need to cut out two parts of the pillow - front and back.

  • To cut the front of the pillow, you need to: on the fabric lying face up, put our template with the same face up, circle it and then cut out the blank.
  • To cut out the back side of the letter, you need to: do everything the same, but first turn the template upside down, that is, according to the principle of mirror reflection.

Step 3. Now you should prepare the sidewall of the pillow.

  • Its length should be equal to the perimeter of the letter + 2 cm for allowances. You determine the width of the sidewall yourself, for example, it can be 4 cm, then, taking into account the 2 cm allowance for the seams, the width of the workpiece will be 6 cm.

But since you probably won't be able to cut out a single strip of fabric, you will need to cut several strips of the same width and sew them together to end up with one strip of the desired length.

Step 4. Sew the sidewall to the first letter. To do this, we fold them facing each other and begin to grind around the entire perimeter of the workpiece.

  • For convenience, the side strip can be attached with pins.

We repeat the same procedure with the second half of the pillow, but leave a small segment unfinished.

This pillow can also be a toy for your baby.

Creating beautiful, unique, sweet little things is the most pleasant and exciting experience. Making a pillow toy, among other things, is a manifestation of love and care for your child.

Pillows - toys made from natural materials

Materials should be soft and delicate to the touch, such as flannel, fleece, velvet, cotton. It is advisable to sew a pillow with a pillowcase that can be easily removed and washed frequently. If without a pillowcase, it should also easily withstand washing, not shed or stray.

Safe do-it-yourself cat pillow

Do not use buttons, rough stripes, any decor that can be imprinted on the face. Also parts that a child can chew off or scratch with them.

Considering that the child will carry it with him, throw it and wallow on it, the pillow should be light. The ideal materials for filling are synthetic winterizer, synthetic winterizer and holofiber, which do not cause allergies and are easy to care for.

Pillow elephant

We hope our master class will inspire you to create a cute pillow that will be warmed by the warmth of your hands, threads of kindness and sincerity. This is what will make it a valuable gift for anyone to whom it is intended.

And original, it will allow you not only to decorate your interior, but also to avoid spending money and time on their purchase. And with the help of various buttons, lace, bows and other inexpensive means, you can give them exclusivity. In addition, you can please your loved ones by giving them one of your masterpieces.

If you haven't been into needlework before, you can start sewing pillows using simple patterns. In any case, you will be pleased with the result, and you will see what a fascinating process it is. Gradually gaining skill, you can surprise anyone with your works.

Where to begin?

To start sewing pillows, you need to prepare everything you need in advance. This will allow you not to be distracted in the process of work. The most important thing is to have pillow patterns in front of you. Based on them, it is already worth choosing a fabric, filler and accessories.

Option 1

The fabric is better to choose wear-resistant. And the color and texture depend only on your taste or interior. The main thing is that the pillowcases on the pillows can be removed and washed.

The filler is better to choose one that retains elasticity and softness longer. Down or feathers are best. These pillows can last for decades. If you have old feather pillows that you don't use, you can use a feather from them. But you need to be extremely careful so as not to collect fluff throughout the house.

Option 2

If this option does not suit you, we recommend purchasing a sintepuh or holofiber. Sintepuh is polyester fibers rolled into small fluffy balls. And holofiber, in turn, is the same polyester, but already in the form of a thick sheet. These fillers are quite elastic and will definitely serve for 5-7 years.

Option 3

Another type of filler is silicone granules. They are convenient in that they are easy to fall asleep into ready-made pillows through a small hole. In addition, if necessary, they can be easily removed and washed from there, and the pillowcases on the pillows can be washed separately. The main thing is not to wash these granules in the washing machine! Only by hand!

Simple baby pillow

For beginners, we will tell you how easy it is to make baby pillows with your own hands.

  • dense plain fabric (length 64 cm, width 122 cm);
  • filler;
  • colored fabric, with cars or flowers (length 65 cm, width 145 cm);
  • threads;
  • scissors;
  • centimeter tape;
  • pins;
  • chalk.

Let's start with the "father"

Let's start from the beginning:

  1. To do this, take a plain fabric and fold it in half. The length and width of the breastplate in the final version should be 60 by 60 cm. Everything else goes as a seam allowance. It turns out that the width of the piece of fabric will be 62 cm, and the length 64 cm.
  2. Sew the sides of the fabric. On one side we leave a hole for the filler. We turn the cap on the front side. We iron well. Stuff the pillow with filler. The amount of filling depends on the density of the pillow you want. For small children, it is not recommended to make high models.
  3. Now carefully sew up the hole.
  4. Let's get to the pillowcase.
  5. We will sew it with a valve, for ease of removal. First, sew the edges. We iron. Then we fold the piece of fabric inside out, so that we get an even square 60 cm by 60 cm, and another piece of 22 cm on the valve should lie on top of one of the sides.
  6. We sew the sides of the pillowcase, taking into account the fact that 1.5 cm each is an allowance for the seams, and 2 cm so that the pillow fits easily into the pillowcase.
  7. We turn the pillowcase on the front side, insert the pillow, fill the valve. All! We got a pillow 60-60 for children.

Important! Before you start sewing with your own hands, we recommend washing the fabric. Since the material for sewing pillows is natural, it can shrink.

Pillow with a heart

Here is another do-it-yourself pillow diagram. We take:

  • velor fabric;
  • felt;
  • scissors;
  • ruler;
  • sintepukh;
  • hot glue;
  • acrylic paint;
  • thread and needle.

Instruction:

  1. We take a soft velor pink fabric. We cut out a cut of 1 m by 50 cm. Fold the cut in half and sew the sides together from the wrong side. Leave one side free.
  2. Let's start decorating. To do this, cut out a muzzle of a rabbit, a heart or any other figure from felt. We have this heart. We draw strokes along the edge of the heart with acrylic paint, they imitate a seam with us.
  3. When our heart is dry, we use hot glue to glue it to the pillowcase. If you do not have hot glue, you can use Moment Classic glue or threads.
  4. Stuff the pillow with filler. Sew neatly the remaining edge.

Now let's talk about how to make original children's pillows with your own hands.

Patchwork flower pillow

Almost all of us have pieces of various fabrics at home. It can be old clothes, curtains, etc. All of these things can be put to good use. For example, sew children's pillows with your own hands. You definitely won't find these in the store.

Today we will tell, from shreds.

For her we need:

  • 5 different scraps of fabric;
  • yellow fabric;
  • synthetic winterizer;
  • buttons.

To make petals:

  1. From the patches cut out 6 squares. We fold them into triangles with the wrong side up. We sew one side. Then we turn it right side out, fill it with padding polyester and sew it up. We sew all the resulting petals with each other - so that we get an inflorescence.
  2. We do the middle. We take a yellow fabric and cut out a circle with a diameter of 60 cm from it.
  3. We make stitches along the edge of the fabric with a thread, and then tighten it. Stuff with synthetic winterizer and sew.
  4. We insert the middle into the inflorescence and sew together.
  5. Next, we take shreds of fabric, preferably green, and cut out leaves 35 by 14 cm in size from them. Cut out the same leaves from foam rubber. Now we sew the leaves from the flaps on one side, then we put the foam rubber inside and sew it on the other side. Do the same for the rest of the leaves. We sew the leaves along the middle with one line.
  6. From the same fabric we cut out two circles with a diameter of 24 cm. We sew them from the wrong side, leaving a hole, turn it inside out, insert the foam rubber inside. We sew to the end.
  7. Sew the leaves to the flower. Sew a round base on the bottom.

You can also decorate our flower pillow by sewing red buttons along the yellow center.

Pillow doll

And another view is a children's do-it-yourself one. This will be the original hot-water doll. For her you will need:

  • a ball of thread;
  • synthetic winterizer;
  • light fabric, children's tights are also suitable;
  • weave flesh or pink, you can take a sleeve from a blouse;
  • a piece of dense fabric;
  • a piece of soft tissue;
  • cherry bones (they need to be boiled in advance, with the addition of vinegar, and then calcined in the oven);
  • threads;
  • needles;
  • scissors.

Let's get started:

  1. We sew a doll-warmer. The body of our doll should be 24 cm high, 28 cm wide, 33 cm diagonally. Head circumference 22 cm.
  2. We cut out a cover from dense fabric, which we will fill with bones.
  3. Sew the edges from the inside out, leaving a hole. Turn right side out and fill with cherry pits. We sew up.
  4. We make overalls for a doll from soft fabric. But we sew it a little more so that you can easily insert a cover with cherry pits there.
  5. Sew from the inside out and turn inside out through the hole cut in the neck.
  6. We cut the overalls from the neck down, a little short of the edge, so that you can put a cover with cherry stones there. To close the overalls, you can sew on a zipper or buttons. We process all edges.
  7. We fill all 4 edges of the overalls with padding polyester. You don't need to hit hard. You should get 4 buboes. They need to be tied with thread.
  8. Let's get to the head.
  9. To do this, take a ball of thread and wrap it with a padding polyester.
  10. If the head turned out to be the right size, then we tie it at the bottom with a thread.
  11. We take a light fabric, better than tights, and put it on the doll's head, tighten it with a thread at the base.
  12. We cut off the excess, leaving a small neck, and sew it up. To make the face embossed, we tie a thread in the middle of the head.
  13. Now we pull a flesh-colored or pink knitted fabric over the head, so that there are no folds. Tie a thread between the head and neck.
  14. Cut off the excess and sew.
  15. Now we mark facial features with a washable felt-tip pen. At the same stage, you can cut out and sew the cap. We try it on the head and mark the place on the head where the edge of the cap will be.
  16. From the same fabric as the jumpsuit, we sew a triangular cap for the doll. A frill can be sewn along the edge where it will be attached to the head.
  17. We embroider the face with threads, hiding the knots in the place where the cap will be put on.
  18. We sew the cap to the head, as close as possible to the frill.
  19. We blush the doll's cheeks.
  20. Next, insert the neck of the doll into the neck and sew.
  21. The final stage is to insert a cover with bones inside and fasten the buttons.

To make the pillow doll become a heating pad, the cover with bones can be placed on the battery or in the microwave for 2-3 minutes and heated. This heating pad can be used for colic in the stomach or simply put in the winter in the stroller to the child and go for a walk.

Pillow letter

Pillow patterns are varied. Finally, we will tell you how to sew children's pillows with your own hands in the form of letters.

Let's take the letter "R" as an example. We will need:

  • colored fabric;
  • plain fabric;
  • filler;
  • thread and needle;
  • ruler;
  • scissors.

Initially:

  • Cut out a large "R" on paper. Then we transfer it to the fabric. Cut out the letter.

  • Cut out a strip from a plain fabric. We sew this strip from the wrong side to the letter. Sew the second edge of the strip to another letter, leaving a place unsewn through which you will stuff the pillow. With a round hole in the letter "R" will have to tinker. It can be sewn to the second part of the letter through the space left for the filler.

  • We twist.

  • Stuff the pillow with filler.
  • Sew up the remaining edge. The pillow is ready.

  • On the side of it, you can make an embroidery with the full name of the child.

Now such pillows are gaining popularity and many sew them to order.

Stars are a very popular Christmas decoration. Today we will tell you how to make beautiful hanging decor elements with your own hands by sewing them according to a pattern.

One of the main advantages of stars over snowmen, snowflakes, Christmas trees and other New Year's paraphernalia is that they can be safely left after the holiday. If the same snowflakes in the spring will not look very appropriate, then the stars will be relevant all year round.

Soft cute stars are able to create coziness and a warm atmosphere at home. This is a very cute accessory that both adults and children like. Based on the template that we will offer you, you can make a lot of crafts: hanging decorations, pillows, soft toys, etc. As an example, we will focus on the first option.

What will we need?

  • any nice looking fabric
  • cotton wool or synthetic winterizer for stuffing
  • thin satin ribbons or beautiful laces
  • decor elements

How to sew stars

If you do not know how to draw stars or are afraid to do it unevenly, use one of the suggested stencils.

Just transfer them to the fabric. For one asterisk, you need to cut two identical parts. You can sew both from the inside and from the front. If you don't like the seams, make a neat edging with a thin cord - it will look appropriate and beautiful.

Leave a small opening for sewing up last. Through it you need to fill the stars with filler and insert a lace or ribbon.

Once you have sewn a few stars, think about their placement. For example, you can make a circular pendant (by the way, this is a great option for hanging over a crib). Just place the stars around the entire diameter of the circle, and collect them into a knot on top.

You can hang the stars in one line. Just attach them, for example, to a shelf. If you want to hang decorations over the bed, but your wall is empty, just stretch a beautiful braid from any corner where it can be fixed to another, and hang the stars along its entire length on ordinary paper clips.
