Interesting and creative do-it-yourself epoxy resin crafts are available to everyone. Epoxy resin products and rules for working with this material Epoxy resin DIY jewelry

Transparent epoxy resin can be used to make various products: decorations, floors, decorative elements, countertops or tables. Earrings, rings, pendants, original surfaces with a 3D effect, beautiful figurines or other decoration items are made from this material.

Preparation of resin for products

Epoxy resin floors have many layers, on one of them there is a pattern, usually a color print. The final coating is a transparent epoxy resin through which the pattern is clearly visible.
To make products, it is necessary to use epoxy resin and a hardener. During the process, it must be taken into account that if a large amount of material is cooked, it will generate heat.
There are types of resin that harden immediately after the hardener is added. When performing work, it is necessary to follow the correct technology, otherwise the resin may boil and smoke, which will lead to the impossibility of manufacturing the product. After solidification, a transparent solid material is obtained.
To make voluminous products, a plasticizer is added to the resin, but first the material must be heated. In this case, the viscosity of the resin is reduced, to heat the resin, a water bath is used. This method of heating helps to increase the setting time of the material. The resin must not be allowed to boil, otherwise it will become cloudy, and it will not work to make a transparent product.
The main condition is the absence of moisture drops on the resin or hardener, otherwise the material will deteriorate and become cloudy. A plasticizer is added to the resin, and heating is performed gradually. After the plasticizer is thoroughly mixed with the resin, a hardener is added, the mixture is preliminarily cooled to 30 degrees. The hardener is introduced very slowly, and the composition is thoroughly stirred, an excessive amount of material will render the resin unusable.

Making an epoxy resin countertop

You can decorate the countertop with coins and epoxy. To do this, you need to prepare pliers, tongs, glue, autogen, water-based varnish, coins, and epoxy with a hardener.
When working with a wooden surface, it must be thoroughly washed, dried, primed, and painted in the selected color. To restore an old countertop, the old coating is removed and the surface is painted.
The most difficult action is bending the coins and cutting them, this can be done with the help of pliers and pliers. If it is not possible to cope with such work, then it is better not to finish the end sections, and place only whole coins.
First, the coins are washed so that they shine, then the surface of the countertop will be bright and original, for this the coins must be boiled in Cola. You can use another method by putting a container of water on the fire, adding coins to it, put vinegar, and soda. In this case, it must be borne in mind that foam will rise, so there should not be too much water. Instead of a folk remedy, you can use special compositions for cleaning metal products.

When all the coins are cleaned, they are thoroughly washed with plain water and dried on a cloth. The manufacturing process of the countertop is the laying of coins on the surface, and pouring the elements with epoxy resin. All work is done consistently so as not to make mistakes.

  1. Polyethylene is placed under the surface being made so as not to smear the floor or other interior items. Then the resin is poured, but after adding the hardener, the mixture is left for a while so that it thickens a little and does not spill over the edges.
  2. The resin will flow down a little, so it must be periodically picked up with a spatula, and applied to those places where the material is least. You can not do this, and after the final solidification, simply throw away the polyethylene.
  3. First, the surface is edging from a wooden material, then the coins are beautifully stacked and filled with resin.
  4. If air bubbles appear on the surface, they can be removed with an autogen. And then the product is left to dry completely, it will take about two days. Dust and other debris should not settle on the surface.
  5. When the countertop dries, it is coated with a water-based varnish, dried again, and only then the product is considered completely finished.

Instead of coins, you can use any original decoration, for example, dried flowers or a color print with a beautiful pattern. The tabletop can be made original, it all depends on ideas and imagination.

Making a bracelet

To make an unusual epoxy resin bracelet, you need to stock up on materials: resin with a hardener, a toothpick, a plastic glass, dried flowers, scissors, an ice cream stick or a skewer, a disposable syringe, and a silicone bracelet mold.

Part of the thickener and two resins are poured into a plastic glass. To ensure that the amount of hardener and resin is accurate, a disposable syringe is used. The components must be mixed slowly and thoroughly so that air bubbles do not form. If they appear, then the composition must be left for several minutes so that the air is completely released, but the mixture should not thicken much.
Then, the prepared form for the bracelet is filled with a viscous composition, dried flowers are placed in the resin, using a toothpick, it can pierce air bubbles. Then the bracelet is left to solidify for about a day, after which it is removed from the mold and used for its intended purpose. Instead of dried flowers, you can take beautiful buttons, rhinestones or beads.

How to make a brooch yourself?

The brooch can be made in the shape of a butterfly, for this you need to take the following materials: A dry butterfly, which is purchased in a store, two toothpicks, resin with a hardener, gloves, scissors, aqua varnish, a special fastener for a brooch.
The butterfly must be divided into several parts, for this the wings are cut off from the body, and both sides are covered with aqua-lacquer. Then all parts are laid on a work surface, which is previously covered with polyethylene. First, they coat the reverse side of the wings, lay them on the surface, and then process the front part. While the varnish dries, it is necessary to make an epoxy composition, gradually adding a hardener to the resin.
The composition must be determined in a dark place for thickening so that it does not drain from the edges of the product during operation. Then all the parts are covered with a small layer of resin, while carefully smearing it on the surface with a toothpick.
Then leave all the parts to dry completely, and cover them with epoxy on the reverse side, and again wait for solidification. After that, with the help of a plastic solution, all the individual parts are glued to the body, creating the required angle. A metal clasp is attached to the resin on the back of the brooch, and they are expected to dry completely. After that, the product is ready for use.

Making a pendant, option number 1

You can make a pendant from epoxy resin yourself, for this you need to take: a metal mold, tangerine, scissors, stained glass paint, a pendant mount, a silicone compound, sandpaper, a plastic glass, and a spoon, and directly the epoxy itself.
The tangerine must be peeled, and the most accurate slice should be selected, with the help of scissors, the skin is removed from one side. And on the other hand, you can attach a pin to the blank, so you get a brooch or attach an eye for a chain from above to make a pendant.
The slice is placed in a metal mold, and poured with the prepared silicone compound, left to solidify. After that, the slices must be removed and discarded, and the mold thoroughly rinsed with cold water. The edges can be neatly aligned with scissors.
After a day, the silicone material can be used as a mold for pouring epoxy. After the workpiece has completely dried, it must be processed with sandpaper. Then they attach the necessary fastener or eyelet for the pendant, paint the product with stained-glass type paint in two layers, and varnish it.

Making a round pendant, option number 2

You can make a round pendant, for this you need to prepare: dried flowers, thickener, sandpaper, polishing paste, scissors, special molds that serve as a mold for pouring. Then resin, a glass of plastic, tweezers, a felt nozzle, and a hanging eye are used.

In the absence of molds, you can use a plastic ball, which is cut into two parts, lubricated with petroleum jelly from the inside, and after filling with resin, the cut is sealed with plasticine.
Gems can be made independently, from thin twigs, dry flowers from bouquets or small leaves. At the same time, the blanks must be qualitatively dried so that in the future there is no rotting of the elements inside the product. To prevent the dried flower from changing color, a resin is used that is resistant to ultraviolet rays.

You can make a small composition of thin twigs and flowers, build a neat bouquet, all elements can be connected using an epoxy composition. After hardening, it is placed in round molds, and pour the prepared solution. After cooking, the mixture is left for a few minutes for air to escape so that bubbles do not form on the product. After that, leave the product to solidify.
When the ball hardens, it may not have a very even shape, all defects can be removed with a coarse-grained skin. And then polishing is performed with fine-grained sandpaper. Usually such work is done in water, this makes it possible to do everything quickly, and without dust.

The next step is polishing the product, for this you can use a special tool for plastic, that is, a polish. The product is applied to a felt nozzle, after which they begin to process the finished ball.
Then an eye is glued to the ball, into which the chain will be threaded, usually such a blank has an extension at the end, epoxy is applied to it. After that, the ear is tightly applied to the ball with the expansion end.
A lot of products are made of wood and epoxy resin, and it is also necessary to follow a certain technology. If you follow the sequence in the work, you can avoid mistakes, and independently make original jewelry for yourself and your home. From epoxy resin you can make a lot of items, it all depends on your imagination.

With the help of epoxy resin for jewelry, you can significantly expand the boundaries of creativity and make incredible jewelry. In this tutorial, I will cover the basics of working with jewelry epoxy, using the example of pouring resin into special molds.

We will need:
- epoxy resin PEO 510 or PEO-610
- molds for pouring epoxy resin
- jewelry scales
- rubber gloves to protect hands
- disposable cups
- wooden stick for stirring the resin
- paper napkins (useful for cleaning the necks of bottles after pouring the components)
- parchment paper to protect the table
- toothpicks / wooden sticks for mixing decorative elements

Decorative elements for pouring (accessories for jewelry: pendants, rings, etc., beads, dried flowers, baked polymer clay, sequins, potal)

Details about how to choose epoxy resin for your projects and about safety when working with it, we wrote in a previous article. In this article, we will consider the main stages of using epoxy resin for jewelry.

1 Mixing components

Before starting work, we will read the instructions, which say in what proportions you need to mix the components of the epoxy resin for jewelry. For convenience, these data are written on each bottle of resin. Epoxy resin PEO-510 and PEO-610 should be mixed in a ratio of 4:1 by weight, i.e. we need to take 4 parts of component A and 1 part of component B. If you mix by volume using measuring cups, then the proportions will be 3 ,3:1.

It is important to accurately observe the mixing proportions. If the proportions are violated, then the resin will not harden, but remain sticky. In my opinion, it is most convenient to mix epoxy using a high precision scale - it is much faster and the measurements will be more accurate than mixing by volume. Therefore, in the lesson I will mix the components using these weights.

First, we measure the weight of the cup in which we will mix the epoxy. After the weight is displayed on the scale screen, reset the weight by pressing the TARE button.

Now, when the weight of the cup is not taken into account, pour the required amount of component A into it. After that, reset the tare again by pressing the TARE button at the scales.

Now the weight of the cup and component A is not taken into account, so we will measure the required amount of component B into the same cup.

For convenience, component B can be poured from the bottle into another plastic cup, and then poured into a glass with component A for mixing. The neck of the bottle after pouring the resin is conveniently cleaned with a paper towel.

So, the most important thing is done - we measured the exact number of components.

Now carefully mix the ingredients with a wooden stick. Stir well the resin from the walls of the cup and from the bottom until the resin becomes completely transparent. Mixing determines whether the epoxy will eventually harden, so mix thoroughly.

2 Getting rid of air bubbles

So, our resin is thoroughly mixed and ready for pouring, but often after mixing air bubbles remain in the resin. To get rid of bubbles, epoxy resin for jewelry needs to be heated at a temperature of 50-60C.
In winter, heating appliances are great for this, or you can hold a glass of resin over the burner of an electric stove. The main thing here is not to overdo it (!) And not to exceed the temperature. We just need to heat the resin a little until it becomes more liquid, then the air bubbles will very quickly come out of the resin and it will become completely transparent.

The heating time depends on the volume of epoxy, as soon as the resin becomes liquid like water, remove the heat. Stir with a wooden stick to heat the resin evenly.

Another point - with a sufficiently long heating and elevated temperature, the process of hardening the resin will be significantly accelerated, and when we pour the resin into molds, it will become viscous very quickly. This may not always be convenient for the subsequent addition of decor to the resin, as numerous air bubbles will appear, but this feature can be used, for example, for multi-layer pours or obtaining a high dome.

If we need increase resin viscosity, then you can do it in two ways:
1 After mixing the components, leave the PEO-510 or PEO-610 resin in the glass for 5-6 hours. Then gently mix a little so that bubbles do not appear.
2 Warm up the resin at a temperature of 50-60C.

If during the heating process the epoxy resin becomes liquid, like water, but the smallest bubbles remain, do not worry, they will all come out anyway, just put the resin on the table and wait about 20-40 minutes. Also, the remaining large bubbles can be removed with a toothpick.

Air bubbles come out very well from PEO-610 and PEO-510 epoxy resins, so little is formed when mixed carefully. In the photo on the left, the epoxy is mixed intensively, so there are a lot of bubbles - I did this for clarity of the example. In the photo on the right we see the result after heating this resin.

3 Filling in molds

The resulting epoxy resin is poured into molds or bases for jewelry, we add various decorative elements. After that, cover the molds with resin with a lid so that dust does not get on it.
We are waiting for complete hardening and rejoice at the result.

Epoxy resin PEO-610 completely hardens at t 25 °C - 42-54 hours, PEO-510 at t 25 °C - 54-66 hours.

As for the question of exactly when to add decorative elements- after we pour the resin into the mold or before.
If we decide to add elements of light or simple shapes to the resin, for example, beads, foil, light metal fittings, then such details can be added after the epoxy resin is poured into the molds.
If we need to fill in a heavy decor, then it is better to first fill in the "base", i.e. the first / lower transparent layer and only after complete hardening, place the decor on top and fill everything with a second layer.
If we decide to pour elements of complex shapes, for example, dried flowers, then they must first be “bathed” in epoxy resin, or covered with a layer of resin with a brush so that the resin fills all the recesses, and there are no air bubbles in the subsequent pouring in the form.

A prerequisite is that all decorative elements that you put in the resin must be clean and dry.

4 Finishing the edges after pouring

After we got the products out of the molds, we need to process the sharp edges. They can form as a result of drying, as the epoxy may shrink slightly as it dries. Also, in order to make the edges as smooth as possible, it is better not to add about 2 mm to the very edge of the mold, since the edges of the propylene molds are rounded from above and therefore expand slightly.

We smooth the edges of the finished product by grinding. You can use fine sandpaper (600-800 grit) or even nail polish. The main thing in this matter is not to touch the product when grinding, but to grind only the edge. In this way, defects can also be removed from the products, although in this case the product will be matte, since the gloss will be lost during the grinding process due to the smallest scratches, consider this point.
In the process of grinding, we try not to bend close so as not to breathe in the resulting dust.

5 Making holes in the epoxy after curing

We have the last touch left - to make holes in the resulting epoxy jewelry. Special tools will help us to make neat holes. mini drills.

If the finished products have a rounded front side, then it is better to make holes from the wrong side of the flat side, since the drill will slip off the front side and leave scratches. Also, so that the front side remains smooth and without scratches during the drilling process, we will put a soft cloth during drilling. You can use a craft mat for this. And of course, in the process of drilling, we monitor the tilt of the drill so that the hole is even.

As for the choice of a mini-drill, in my opinion, a drill with a return mechanism is the most convenient, it is thanks to this mechanism that it will be very easy and fast to make holes, the diameter of the holes will be 1-1.5 mm. If holes with a diameter of 1 to 3 mm are needed, then we use a drill with a movable stop.

Now our epoxy resin products are completely ready to become a real decoration.

Have you ever thought about what jewelry is made of? Many curious people asked this question and found out that beautiful pendants, earrings, bracelets with original inserts of various decor inside are the creation of masters using epoxy resin. Admire interesting solutions in photo 1,2,3,4. It turns out that such a masterpiece can be performed by any creative person who does not have special qualifications.

Do-it-yourself technology for making crafts from epoxy resin

The technological process of working with epoxy resin is not complicated, the proportions of resin and hardener are indicated in the manufacturer's annotation. To work, you will need a special container for mixing epoxy with a hardener, a wooden stick for stirring the components and pouring molds. For brightness and originality, some kind of decor is placed in the form (beads, buttons, sparkles, beads, dried plants), and a dye is added to the mixture. Epoxy hardens at a temperature of +25 to +60 degrees throughout the day.

Interesting youth earrings with your own hands

Everyone can make beautiful and original epoxy resin crafts with their own hands. Pay attention to photo 5, these unique earrings are made of epoxy and mechanical watch parts. The prepared epoxy solution is poured into a special elongated silicone mold, and then, using a toothpick or tweezers, crowns, wheels, screws, springs, arrows, levers from manual mechanical watches are placed in an advantageous way. A gray-golden color will give the compound a dye consisting of silver powder, graphite. To speed up the hardening process, it is better to place the molds in a warm, but turned off oven. Polymerization will be faster, and the product will not contain bubbles if the workpiece is dried at a temperature of +50 degrees. After hardening, the blanks are removed from the molds. Then they are polished with sandpaper: first large, and then fine, drill a hole for fasteners. When the workpiece is ready, it is varnished. After completing the earrings with clasps, the product is ready for use. It turned out to be a very interesting, creative accessory that will appeal to many young fashionistas.

Decorations with flowers, plants

If you want to get an accessory with dried flowers, plants, algae, pay attention to photos 6, 7. For the manufacture of such products, you will need appropriate molds and dried material. The work is carried out as in the manufacture of earrings, but with some subtleties.

It is important:
1. In order for the product to be durable, raw material must not be placed in the compound. All algae, flowers, leaves should be well dried. If a living plant is placed in a solution, then over time it will begin to deteriorate, rot, turning good products into disrepair.
2. To prevent the formation of bubbles, it is necessary to work in a warm room. It is necessary to combine the hardener with the resin for 5 minutes, constantly stirring the contents.

Wasp in a ball

An interesting solution is a butterfly or any insect in a ball. Look at photo 8 with the wasp in the ball. The insect appears to be alive. To achieve this effect, it is necessary to properly dry the insect in parts. Wings, paws need to be dried separately, and then glued with epoxy to the body. Such meticulous work is suitable for those people who want to get an interesting result of their work. Therefore, in this do-it-yourself epoxy resin craft, an important aspect is the preparatory process. For the ball, you can take a plastic tennis ball, cut in half. The insect is assembled together by gluing wings and legs to the body. If you manage to dry the wasp in a straightened form, then this “heavy” process can be eliminated. To make it easier to pull the workpiece out of the mold, it is necessary to treat the mold with fatty oil before pouring the epoxy. The compound is poured into both halves, and an insect is placed in one of them. The parts are connected to each other as tightly as possible. In order not to see the joint line, the ball can be connected with adhesive tape. After solidification in a warm room, the shell is removed from the ball. The resulting ball with a wasp is ground, polished, varnished. Similarly, you can make a ball with butterflies inside.

Other crafts

Do-it-yourself epoxy resin crafts include special panels, tables made using coins, plastic bottle caps (photo 11). If you have building skills, you can arrange a beautiful self-leveling floor, as in photo 12.

Transparent epoxy resin is a versatile material that allows you to make an original table, jewelry, 3D floors. See how to create it yourself.

Transparent resin: types and their characteristics

For home creativity, epoxy is most often used. But in addition to making jewelry and souvenirs from it, this material is used to create polymer floors with a fashionable 3D effect. Due to this, the lower part of the room resembles the ocean with its underwater inhabitants, flowering fields and everything you could wish for.

The self-leveling floor is multi-level, one of the layers is a special canvas on which a pattern is applied using color printing technique. What plot is captured there, this will be on self-leveling floors. Their surface consists of transparent resin, so the image on the canvas is clearly visible.

Epoxy resin products are durable, water and sun resistant. One of the most popular Magic Crystal-3D epoxy resins. It is used to create jewelry, decorative items, 3D fills and glossy finishes.

Also, Epoxy CR 100 epoxy resin is used to create polymer floors, which is characterized by antistatic, wear resistance, good chemical resistance.

Epoxy resin is sold with a solvent. Usually these two substances are mixed in a ratio of 2:1 immediately before use.

The second type of resin is acrylic. It is also used to create a self-leveling floor, souvenirs. Acrylic resin is used for the manufacture of bathtubs, waterfalls and artificial reservoirs, molds for casting products. Artificial stone is made from this material, including artificial marble.

Perhaps you have heard about transparent designer sinks and bathtubs. For them, this type of resin is used.

Also, transparent polyester resin is used to create sanitary products. But this type of polymer is most often used in industrial production, and not in home production. Transparent polymer resin is used in the automotive industry, shipbuilding industry, auto-tuning. Fiberglass, known to almost everyone, is made from polymer resins.

The most popular for home art is epoxy, as it is cheaper than acrylic. But for the production of small items of jewelry, it is better to take acrylic, which does not pick up air bubbles, like epoxy. However, there are subtleties that will help prevent this trouble when working with cheaper material. You will soon learn about them.

How to make an epoxy resin countertop?

If you need to update the old one, then take on an interesting idea. To implement it, you will need:
  • coins;
  • epoxy resin with a thickener;
  • pliers;
  • ticks;
  • water-based varnish;
  • autogen;
  • wooden slats;
  • glue.
If you are decorating a wood surface, wash it, let it dry, prime and paint. If you have an old countertop with a coating, you need to remove it, then cover it with paint.

The most difficult thing is to bend the coins, cut them. Pincers and pliers will help you, as well as male power. But if any of this is not there, do not make the side ends on the tabletop, place the coins only at the top, it will still turn out beautifully.

Coins will need to be washed. There are several ways to do this:

  1. Pour Cola drink into the pan, lower the coins, put on fire. The solution will boil and clean your money. You can simply fill the coins with this drink, do not heat it, but leave it overnight. By morning they will be clean.
  2. Put the pot with coins and water on the fire. When the liquid boils, add some vinegar and soda. The solution will foam, so add enough water to fill the pot no more than half way.
  3. Use a special cleanser called Tarn-X. It is bred in water according to the instructions, not in food utensils, coins are lowered there. The container must be carefully twisted over the sink in order to evenly moisten the money and thus wash them.
After applying any of these methods, it is necessary to rinse the coins well in running water and put them to dry on towels. But you can buy new coins in the bank.
  1. Here's how to make the tabletop itself. Spread coins on its surface, after which you need to fill them with a mixture of epoxy resin with a thickener. But before that, you need to prepare.
  2. If you do not want to mess around for a long time, lay cellophane under the surface to be treated, and you can pour the resin. But after mixing with a thickener, you need to leave the mass for a while so that it hardens a little, not too liquid.
  3. In any case, it will flow down a little, so in order to save the solution, you need to periodically collect these drops with a spatula, apply where there is little resin. But even if this is not done, the worn resin will be on the cellophane, which at the end of the work you just need to throw away.
  4. You can first make an edging for the countertop from wooden slats or bars, then place the coins, fill with epoxy.
  5. Don't be disappointed if you see air bubbles on the surface being created. We drive them out with an autogenous flame.
  6. Now you need to let the product dry completely, it will take a couple of days. At this time, the main thing is that no one touches the surface, dust and animal hair do not settle.
  7. After the resin has completely dried, cover the surface with a water-based varnish, after it dries, the new product is ready for use.

If you are interested in this process and there is a whole piggy bank of coins, or maybe the old denomination of metal money remains, then make a self-leveling floor, for example, in the bathroom or in the kitchen.

Epoxy resin jewelry: bracelet and brooch

See how to make a stylish bracelet out of this material.

For him, take:
  • a set consisting of epoxy resin with a thickener;
  • silicone mold for the bracelet;
  • plastic cup;
  • toothpick;
  • stick (can be from ice cream);
  • scissors;
  • dried flowers;
  • disposable syringes.

Pour 2 parts resin and 1 part thickener into a glass.

Use disposable syringes to measure the exact amount of thickener and epoxy. To form as few air bubbles as possible, mix these compounds slowly.

If air bubbles still remain, let the mixture stand for a while so that they disappear. But do not bring it to a strong thickening.

Pour the sticky mixture into the bracelet mold. Put dried flowers cut with scissors there, helping yourself with a toothpick. You can also pierce air bubbles with them so that it comes out.

Leave the bracelet to harden for a day, then carefully remove it from the mold and try on a new fashion accessory.

Instead of dried flowers, you can decorate the bracelet with buttons of a beautiful color.

If you want to make a brooch in the shape of a butterfly, then watch the next master class.

For her you will need:
  • dry butterfly bought in a store;
  • scissors;
  • epoxy resin with solvent;
  • two toothpicks;
  • gloves;
  • aqua varnish;
  • brooch mechanism.
Manufacturing instructions:
  1. Cut the butterfly into 5 parts: separating the wings and body. Cover these parts with aqua varnish first on the reverse side.
  2. Lay the blanks on the surface covered with foil. For this, a tile is suitable, on which the package is put on and fixed.
  3. Lubricate with varnish and the front side of the butterfly. While it dries, dilute the epoxy with the solvent, stirring slowly.
  4. Place the container in a warm place so that the solution thickens a little and does not drip from the workpieces when pouring. Cover them with a small layer, smear it on the surface with a toothpick.
  5. We wait until the parts dry, then cover them with an epoxy mixture from the back. We also wait for this layer to dry, after which we dilute the third portion of the solution, set it aside so that it thickens well, but is plastic. This will make it easy to glue the wings to the body, which you will do. At the same time, give the wings the desired position.
  6. With the remaining solution, attach a metal mechanism to the back of the brooch. Remove the jewelry, covering it from dust so that the solution is completely dry.
That's how you got a beautiful new brooch.

How to make a pendant: 2 master classes

See what other wonderful resin jewelry you can make yourself.

You will need:
  • epoxy resin with hardener;
  • metal form;
  • disposable cups and spoons;
  • small scissors;
  • mandarin;
  • stained glass paint;
  • varnish for fixing Fimo Vernis brillante;
  • stained glass paint;
  • sandpaper;
  • fastening for a brooch;
  • silicone compound Alcor.

Peel the tangerine. Take the most beautiful slice, carefully, catching the skin with scissors, remove it from one side. On the other hand, a pin will subsequently be attached, not to a slice, but to a blank from it.

Make 2 slices in this way, put them in a mold. Knead the silicone compound, pour it into the prepared container. Let the silicone dry.

Now you can remove the slices from the container, throw them away, and rinse the form itself in cold water. If the edges of the recesses are uneven, trim them with scissors.

After a day, the silicone will completely harden, then you can pour the prepared epoxy solution into the mold. When the workpiece is dry, sand it a little with fine sandpaper or an engraver. Attach a brooch clasp to the back of the workpiece, paint the tangerine with orange stained glass paint. First apply 1 layer, then the second. After they dry, go over the surface with varnish.

Here are some wonderful tangerine-shaped epoxy decorations that can be made if you are diligent.

If you want to learn how to make a round pendant, then check out another tutorial. For it you will need:
  • dried flowers;
  • molds for filling a round shape;
  • epoxy resin;
  • thickener;
  • disposable plastic cups;
  • tweezers;
  • scissors;
  • sandpaper;
  • polishing paste;
  • felt nozzle;
  • pendant accessories.

If you do not have round molds, then take a plastic ball. It needs to be cut in half, lubricated inside with petroleum jelly. After pouring the resin, seal the cut with plasticine so that it does not flow out.

In the absence of purchased dried flowers, make them yourself from a presented bouquet. Bulk flowers, such as roses, dry by tying the stems, lowering the buds down. If you want to dry individual petals, then put them between the pages of an old book. Fragile voluminous flowers are dried in a container into which semolina is poured.

It is important to dry these blanks well, because if the process is not done well, the flower or part of it will eventually rot while in the pendant. In order for the plant to retain its color for as long as possible, take an epoxy resin that protects from ultraviolet radiation.

Collect a mini-bouquet by gluing flowers, petals, leaves with epoxy mixed with a thickener.

When it hardens, carefully place this little bunch into a round mold or half a plastic ball. A freshly prepared epoxy mixture solution must be left for 2-3 minutes so that air comes out and its bubbles do not spoil the appearance of the product. Now you can pour the resin into the mold, wait until it thickens.

Until such a ball is obtained, it will not be quite even in shape. To fix this, first go over the surface with coarse-grained sandpaper, then with fine-grained sandpaper. It is better to do this in water so that there is no dust, and the process goes faster.

The next step is polishing. For this, polish for plastic or for headlights, bought at a motorist store, is well suited. Apply it to the felt nozzle, walk around the workpiece from all sides.

Here's how to make the pendant next. To attach the chain to the balloon, take a cap and a pin.

Put a pin on the hat, use round-nose pliers to fold it into a loop. Glue this blank to the pendant with epoxy.

It remains to attach the chain and wear such an unusual pendant with pleasure.

And now we invite you to sit comfortably in a chair, watch an informative story on how to make a ring out of wood and epoxy.

These two materials are also the main characters of the next video. From it you will learn how to make a table in a similar technique.

Hello everyone! Everyone who loves to work with resin and who loves the "kitchen" of creating something with their own hands!

So, I started by choosing from my stock, those flowers that I want to fill, and outlined the desired contours of the fortification on paper (the plants must be completely dried). You can skip this stage and pour it without a stencil, but I wanted the plants to fit =))

I chose heather flowers, forget-me-nots and oak veronica.

Now you need to prepare the resin: knead (according to the instructions!) And leave for about 2-3 hours (to gain viscosity). Immediately after kneading, there are a lot of bubbles in the resin, they will go away on their own after a while and you can use it. At this stage, it is good to pour it into molds. But I'm waiting for it to thicken.

While the resin is infused, I make the number of stencils I need and cut out:

An important point - it is necessary to prepare the surface on which the products will harden. It should be as even as possible; dust, if not removed before pouring, will be on future brooches-earrings. In my case, the surface is glass, and with the help of a building level, you can put it as evenly as possible, putting something under it.

The next step is to place a file or several files on a flat surface and UNDER them to place stencils.

Pour the prepared slightly thickened resin directly onto the file and spread it with a toothpick so that the height is about 2-3 mm. Necessarily you need to cover it with a dome-lid! By experience, I found out that under a low dome, the probability of dust sticking is less than if you cover it with one common and high one. After 15 - 30 minutes, the resin may crawl away from the contour, then you also need to return it with a toothpick to its place or drop more resin and distribute it.

Now we forget about the resin for about a day. It is necessary that the newly made bases harden completely and then you can separate them from the file (you can separate them earlier, but the uncured resin will bend and leave fingerprints) The edges, of course, will not be perfectly even, so you need to process them with sandpaper or a file. If there are paired elements such as earrings, then you need to make them as symmetrical as possible.

The files themselves are convenient to use for any work with resin! Thus, protect your table from resin adhering to it.

We knead a new portion of the resin, leave it to infuse and in the meantime try on the location of the dried flowers, and if everything suits you, you can continue!

After the bubbles have come out of the resin (30-60 minutes have passed), we drip a couple of drops onto the base, distribute them and arrange the flowers. This is necessary in order to fix them in the right place. Cover with a lid and leave to dry.

Well, another day has passed)) (or half a day). Again we are preparing a new resin, leaving it to thicken, but not much! Otherwise, when pouring too thick resin, the resulting bubbles on the plants will be difficult to remove and you can break a twig or leaf, expelling the bubbles with a toothpick! It is better to use its medium consistency, which is similar to fresh honey). This filling is needed first of all in order for the resin to flow into all the irregularities of the plant. Let me remind you about a flat work surface, because if at this stage it is not even, then the resin will simply drain and ruin your mood and work. The higher the lens needs to be formed, the smoother the surface needs to be!

Further according to the well-known scheme: cover with a lid, leave to dry). After a day, you need to dilute the new resin and wait for its thick consistency (thick honey) and pour it again to form a volumetric coating. Remove again to COMPLETE drying under an anti-dust cover on a flat surface (complete drying is different for different resin manufacturers, but it is better to play it safe and not touch the products for several days; if the plans did not include leaving fingerprints, of course)

After complete drying, turn over the finished front side and make another pour with thick resin, because. there are no plants on it, you can make just one fill so as not to leave a flat back surface and remove the texture of the file! Thus, the plant is inside the form. At the same time, the form becomes very strong and it will not be possible to break it, just saw it))) All this work seems simple, but to do everything carefully, you need to have a certain amount of patience and skills!

Decorations made using resin require careful handling and do not like the open sun (plants can burn out for a long time, for example, on the windowsill)

When all the fillings are completed and dry, you can make the intended decoration (for example, make a hole with the thinnest drill) or use it as you please. I love simple shapes and a minimum of decor, so I got the following decorations and photos in my new winter:

Heather pendant 20 x 80 mm

Forget-me-not earrings with silver hooks 28 x 70 mm

Pendant with a sprig of Veronica oak grove 30 x 62 mm

Earrings on silver earwires with a sprig of Veronica oak 23 x 64 mm

Thank you for your attention! I wish you all inspiration and realization of your ideas!
