How to decorate a vase with your own hands - decor ideas. Do-it-yourself floor vase in various techniques. How to make a beautiful floor vase with your own hands at home How to make a flower vase

Do not throw away empty jars made of glass and tin - you can make a lot of beautiful things from glass jars that will come in handy in the apartment, in the country, during the holidays. A beautiful do-it-yourself jar decor can be made from the simplest materials: burlap, rope, twine, narrow ribbons, buttons, newspaper tubes, and even salt. With a little work and patience, you can make a vase, a container for forks and spoons, a fabulous-looking candlestick, and wicker dishes from glass and tin cans. We suggest you take advantage of the master classes and try to make decor for the kitchen with your own hands.

Decorate glass jars and coffee jars with burlap, twine, and any ribbon or lace - this is our first master class. Let's make a vase or a candlestick for a candle. Can be used to store small things in the kitchen.

For work you will need:

  1. Glass jar.
  2. Burlap (gray and white).
  3. Leg-split.
  4. A little lace (can be crocheted).
  5. Beads or small buttons.
  6. Clay Moment or "hot gun".

First you need to remove the label with hot water and a sponge and wash the jar well. Let it dry and start decorating. We cut off a rectangular piece from the burlap, apply glue to the jar in several places, and glue the burlap.

Glue a strip of white burlap or a piece of lace onto a gray fabric.

We make flowers of different sizes from twine, twisting and fixing with glue.

Glue these twine flowers onto burlap.

This is how it looks like:

Then we paste paper flowers, bows, pieces of lace on these twisted flowers. We fill the free space with beads or small buttons.

We glue burlap and lace on the neck of a glass jar, beads or buttons on top.

That's all. We use it as a vase, or as a candlestick for any candle.

We all often buy food in cans: cucumbers, baby food, tomato paste, and so on. From empty tin cans, you can make an excellent decoration of cans with your own hands: a vase for the kitchen, a stand for spoons and forks, a pencil organizer. If you use a simple twine, and any available glue.

Apply glue to the surface of the jar.

We twist the twine in a spiral, pressing harder so that the turns are close to each other.

This is how we decorate. And if there are two cans - even better.

From one tin you can make a vase by gluing a ribbon on top, and from the other, using the same twine and coffee, you can make a spoon stand.

Decorating jars with newspaper tubes

Now many are fond of weaving from the "newspaper vine". Let's try using newspaper tubes or white paper tubes to decorate a coffee can. Do you know what weaving is? Let's start with the basics.

There are 4 types of weaving: a single rod, layered weaving, square, and “rope”.

  • Single rod - racks are braided with single rods, layered with a wall - all around.
  • Layered weaving - weaving with several rods, simultaneously for several racks. Moreover, they are directed as follows: the 1st rod - for the 1st rack, the 2nd - for the 2nd, the 3rd - for the 3rd, and so on. When the circle ends, then each tube goes to the next column - until the end of the entire bunch of tubes. Next comes a new similar layer, the ends are hidden inside the work.
  • Square weaving - the tube goes through 2 risers behind the 3rd until 10 cm remains until the end of the tube. We weave the 2nd tube on the right side of the 2nd riser. Working through 2 risers, we bring the end of the tube out, and so on. Weave such “square” rows to the desired height.
  • "Rope" - the tubes not only wrap around the risers, but also intersect with each other. “Rope” happens in 2,3,4, and so on - tubes.

Let's try to weave a small vase from a glass jar. To get started, a very simple tutorial. The tubes are usually twisted with the help of knitting needles (we take a newspaper, put the knitting needle on the corner, and twist it, then remove the knitting needle). Weave "rope".

For work you will need:

  1. Cardboard.
  2. PVA glue.
  3. Scissors.
  4. Newspaper tubes.
  5. Acrylic paint.
  6. Water based varnish.
  7. Sponge or brush.

Cut out 2 circles from cardboard according to the diameter of your coffee can. On one circle with a pencil, draw notches at an equal distance of 2 cm from each other. There will be 17 tubes.

Glue the tubes and pour a little glue on top. We cover the top with a second circle, and put some kind of load - in order to better stick.

This is what the bottom should look like:

We bend the tube-racks up. Each tube must be brought under the next, and then up.

Weave in 2 tubes with a “string”.

We fix the racks on the bank with clothespins, so that it is more convenient to weave. We braid the bank.

We weave to the top of the jar, and finish the work in the form of a chain.

This is what the top looks like:

Another glass jar decoration. Just as in the first case, you can braid a glass jar under a planter. That is, with the help of newspaper tubes, you can decorate a kitchen or a room with such a basket-planter.

Weave in the way that is convenient for you. We do the bottom in the same way as the first master class. We make handles from rings and wire:

The product can be painted with any paint, but if you want to make a vintage version, then paint in a monochrome way: the basket is painted gray, and then applied on top with a sponge with white paint.

Such a simple and affordable decor for jars - candlesticks of extraordinary beauty made from ordinary sea salt!

For work you will need:

  1. Glass jars.
  2. Sea salt.
  3. Food dye.
  4. PVA glue.
  5. Sequins, paints, fragments of broken Christmas decorations, etc.

Pour salt into a bowl, mix with dye. Now colored salt is sold in stores - this one does not need to be painted.

We smear the jar with PVA glue.

We pour our beautiful salt into a bowl and roll the jar in the resulting composition.

Such a candlestick dries out in a few hours. If there is varnish in a spray can, you can walk on top, but not necessarily.

Every housewife dreams of having an unusual and suitable thing for her interior. It is especially nice when this thing is made by hand. Stained glass painting has always fascinated me. It turns out that decorating a vase with your own hands at home is possible. The main thing is to determine the degree of complexity of the work performed and correlate it with your capabilities. If decorating vases is new to you, then I advise you to start with simple work. Let's start with a simple technique - applying geometric patterns.

geometric patterns

For this job you will need:

  • acrylic or stained glass paint for glass surfaces. You can also use spray paint;
  • brush (we use synthetic for acrylic paints, natural for stained glass);
  • scotch;
  • alcohol;
  • cotton wool

Drawing technique:

  1. Degrease the glass surface with alcohol or any degreaser;
  2. We glue the vase with strips of adhesive tape creating a pattern with it;
  3. We paint over the parts without adhesive tape, going into it. This is necessary so that the edges of the pattern are neat.
  4. We are waiting for the paint to dry. At this time, it is better to remove the vase to avoid accidental touches and smearing of paint. Each paint dries differently, read the instructions on the paint package.

A wide variety of patterns can be achieved with this technique, from parallel lines to various intersections. You can also cut out various geometric shapes and stick them on the surface of the object to be decorated. Do not apply a thick layer of acrylic and stained glass paint to the surface, as this may cause smudges.

For the first work, I do not advise you to choose rounded shapes, it is more difficult to work with them. Faceted vases are better. We work with one face, wait for it to dry completely and move on to the next. The easiest will be to work with spray paint. It is applied in a uniform layer, the spray-paint dries very quickly. As for stained glass paints, their drying time can be significantly reduced. To do this, just put the painted vase in the oven for 15 minutes at a temperature of 150 degrees.

This technique came to us from antiquity. A distinctive feature of pique painting is the size of the dots, the interval between them, the combination and color scheme.

Drawing technique:

  • Degrease the glass surface with alcohol.
  • We apply the contour with a dotted touch.

If you are a beginner artist, you can draw a sketch of your drawing on a piece of paper and attach it from the inside.

You can also use ready-made sketches by downloading your favorite picture from the Internet. Before drawing the outline on the vase, test it on a piece of paper. This is done in order to feel its density. Only then proceed to painting on a vase.

If you go beyond the line, you can quickly fix the defect until the contour is dry. Wipe off with alcohol and continue to work. Consider the transparency of the vase, place the pattern on one side or at different levels.

This is necessary so that the image does not overlap. Try to maintain the same interval between the points.

I used 2 types of fills in my work: Marabu and Decola. They are on a different basis and in the work, respectively, behave differently. Decola paint was in a water-based tube. And Marabu is alcohol-based in a jar and needs to be applied with a brush. It is more liquid and can be mixed to get different shades. Decola paint cannot be mixed, so it is more difficult to perform shades and transitions in one contour with this material. Color transitions can be done by breaking one path into smaller ones.

Painted floor rainbow vase

Do not leave gaps in the contours when painting and make sure that the contours are closed. This is done so that the paint does not leak out. I would advise you to start with faceted vases, as they are the easiest to work with. If you nevertheless set to work with a rounded vase, then try to apply the fill in a thin layer to avoid paint leakage.

Vase decor with fabric and ribbons

You will need:

  • tapes;
  • lace;
  • the cloth;
  • glue.

Decoration materials can be of various kinds. The only limitations are the size of the bottle and your imagination.

Vase decor with beads

You will need:

  • glue or glue gun;
  • beads strung on a thread, or individual beads.

You can replace the beads with more natural materials: cereals, watermelon seeds, coffee beans. You can also use pasta that can be painted with spray paint.

Decoupage

The word decoupage from French literally translates as "cutting". In other words, the essence of decoupage is the application. In my opinion, this technique is quite simple and does not require special skills.

But you need to be patient and scrupulous. To perform decoupage work, you must adhere to the following tips.

Decorating a vase with natural materials

How to make a beautiful and original vase?
Attractive and unusual home decor has always been distinguished by one important feature - it requires considerable financial investments. Everyone knows that a lot of specialists always work on the creation of beautiful furniture, vases, chandeliers, lamps and other important details of decor, they invest not only their physical efforts, but also imagination, various ideas, which, by the way, are not so easy to come up with.

However, few people think about the fact that original and unusual ideas can be implemented independently, and for this it is not necessary to have a specific education, a penchant for art, or great financial opportunities. It is enough just to notice the main thing in trifles and details, to be able to make something extraordinary out of simple and ordinary things.

And for this you will need not so much: desire and enthusiasm, some free time, as well as a few necessary materials that you either already have at home or are sold in any nearby store.

A vase is always a necessary thing, which can be just a cute and original decoration of your home, and is always ready to embrace bouquets of fragrant and colorful flowers.
And since we try to put flowers always in sight, the vase must also be worthy, so that it fits into the surrounding decor and maintains the overall color of the bouquet, because its appearance at home will largely depend on this.
Vases can be very different - from the smallest, which fit one or just a few flowers, and huge, for example, floor vases, which can withstand more than a dozen roses or any other flower beauties.
In order to take on the creation of a new vase, you will need to decide what size it should be, as well as what technique you will choose. Maybe it will be weaving, engraving on a glass surface, decoupage or craquelure, there are many options, we will give just a few of the most interesting examples. Who knows, maybe you will get so carried away with creating and decorating vases that it will grow into your permanent and serious hobby.

Minimalistic and stylish

Small vases for one or a couple of flowers

Glass and ball

One of the original and very simple ways is a vase for one flower, which consists of an ordinary oblong glass and an inflatable ball. It is better to choose a ball of some bright color, for example, red or cherry, cut off the upper part from it, making a cut exactly on the widest part of the ball.

You can even make a vase out of a lamp

By the way, even the smallest schoolboy can make such a vase, solemnly handing it to his mother on March 8 along with a flower. The ball itself must be pulled on top of the glass, and the “pimpochka”, through which the ball is usually inflated, should be pushed inside the glass, a flower will now be inserted into it.

The glass itself, by the way, can also be decorated somehow, for example, with a beautiful sticker or a pattern painted with acrylics.

Bottles and jars

In fact, you can make an interesting vase with your own hands from a variety of elements, for example, from plastic or glass bottles, jars or small boxes.

We bring to your attention the option with plastic bottles. You will need one whole bottle of 1.5 liters, preferably transparent, and about five plastic bottles of 0.5 liters. From all small bottles, you will need to cut the neck, then make four holes in a large bottle along the inner contour of the neck.

It is better that these holes are closer to the top, then there will be more space for water. Holes are circled around the neck of small bottles, and then cut out with scissors.

All cut off small bottles are inserted with their necks into the hole, creating such a peculiar vase with five necks, each flower has its own hole. Such a vase, for example, can be placed in a country house or summer house, unusual and very simple!

Of course, you can get by even easier - cut off the neck of a plastic bottle, and all that remains of it can be decorated with various other techniques.

However, in this case, it is better to turn to a small glass jar, for example, 1 liter in volume. Also for these purposes, glass milk bottles that have an elongated neck are well suited. The easiest way is to glue the outside of the jar with corrugated colored paper.

Style is in everything

Just cut it into small pieces, choose a wide variety of colors. In order for it to stick well, it is better to use a special decoupage glue or ordinary PVA glue, only diluted with water in a ratio of 1: 1. After the glue dries, it will become transparent, and to enhance the effect, the vase can be covered with a transparent varnish.

By the way, instead of corrugated paper, cut pieces of bright glossy magazines may come up, pick them up in approximately the same color scheme, and glue the jar tightly so that there are no gaps.
Returning to corrugated paper - it can, for example, be cut into strips of various widths and glued to the jar in strips as well, it is better that one goes over the other when gluing. For the same purpose, colored electrical tape may be suitable.

Another interesting way is to decorate a glass jar with a knitted or cloth cover. This option, of course, is suitable for those who are familiar with the technique of knitting and sewing. Such covers can, for example, be changed depending on the season or the main color of the bouquet.

We make a floor vase with our own hands

To do this, you will need a cardboard box, various acrylic paints, acrylic primer, paper, water-based paint, decoupage glue and varnish. The cardboard box should be tall and narrow, and golden powder or the same spray paint can still come in handy.

Hand-painted is great

The cardboard box is covered with a primer, which is necessary for a good overlay of the following layers. Then we paste pieces of chopped newspaper on the surface of the box, we get papier-mâché. Now we cover the already prepared box with white water-based paint so that the newspapers are out of sight.

After the first layers have dried, we begin to apply the main color, which will be quite noticeable already on the finished product. As a decoration for a vase, you can use decoupage napkins, which are glued to the vase so that various embossed protrusions are obtained, all this is also covered with paint. Reliefs can be covered with golden powder, but in such a way that the main color of the vase is visible.

For additional decor, you can use a variety of elements, for example, golden ribbons that can be folded into flowers or bows, or you can simply wrap them around a vase in a casual manner. Beads and iridescent pebbles are also suitable, you can make a pattern or some kind of pattern.

Method number 4: Paper vase decor

It will also be original if you glue the jars with paper, both decorative paper and any improvised paper, for example, old notes or sheets from long-forgotten books, will do.

Thin paper is best kept on a jar with homemade glue: brew flour with water. It is completely saturated with glue and envelops the glass. For thicker paper, this method is not suitable - it is best attached to double-sided thin tape.

Method number 5: Canvas decor

The decor of the vase with a canvas is perfect if your apartment is decorated in the style of Rustic or Provence. Where can I get the canvas? A simple tip: any market or hardware store sells linen bags, their cost is cheap. Cut it into strips and decorate whatever you want.

ATTENTION: The canvas is a very dense material. It is best held by mounting glue for construction in a gun on any basis. When gluing, it is necessary to press it very tightly to the jar!

Method number 6: Lace jar decor

It is very easy to make a vase from a jar by gluing old lace on it. Mounting lace on a jar is best done with silicone glue or a mounting gun. The thinner the lace is, the tighter it will adhere to the glass, so give priority to synthetic lace.
