The master class was conducted by Victoria Sukhorebrova.

Master class on how to make decoupage spice jars with your own hands. In such jars you can store not only spices, but also tea, coffee, sugar.

And this time we propose to make a useful and very necessary thing in every home. Meet glass jars for spices! By the way, in such jars you can store not only spices, but also tea, coffee, sugar. The flight of fancy is huge! So let's get started.

Materials:
glass jar;
acrylic latex paint;
application film "Oracal" (for a jar with a window);
acrylic lacquer;
craquelure varnish;
graphite decorative metallic paint;
decoupage napkins;
polishing sponges;
sponge

How to make decoupage jars.

Degrease the glass with any alcohol-based product or wash thoroughly with dishwashing detergent and dry.

1

Use a small, flat synthetic brush to apply craquelure polish to the sides of the jar and a little at the top and bottom.

2

Do not cover the place where the drawing will be with craquelure! Try to apply the varnish in different directions and avoid smudges. The thicker the layer of varnish, the larger the cracks will be. All craquelure polishes "work" differently, so follow the instructions for your chosen product.

When the craquelure dries to a “light touch” state, apply acrylic paint to the entire surface of the jar with a foam sponge.

3

Do this with quick movements, trying not to hit the same surface twice. And dry it with a warm hair dryer. So cracks appear much faster.

Wait for the paint to dry completely and cover the product with acrylic varnish.

4

5

Glue a piece of napkin.

6

After complete drying, cover the entire jar with several layers of varnish.

7

Do not forget the rule: 3-4 coats of varnish and sanding. Since the jar will be used on the farm and washed with warm water, there should be many layers of varnish.

Make a small "surprise" at the bottom of the jar by decorating it with a beautifully patterned napkin.

8

Glue a small piece of napkin right side inward. Coat the bottom with varnish.

9

After complete drying, cover it with white acrylic paint and varnish it several times.

Aged the jar and lid with bituminous varnish. To do this, cover the jar and lid with a finishing matte acrylic varnish, decorate with a sesal bow and think about what spices you will store in it.

10

Note to the needlewoman.
Many decoupage masters apply craquelure to the entire workpiece and then stick a picture on top. However, this method is not very accurate, the pattern adheres unevenly to the surface and looks cut. Therefore, think in advance where the pattern will be placed on your product.

Let's complicate the work a little - make a second jar with a "window".

How to decoupage a jar with a window.

Decide where on the jar there will be a place for the window. This jar will have an oval window, but you can make it in any other shape. Cut an oval of the desired size from the Oracal application film, remove the protective layer and glue it to the chosen place.

Paint over the jar with metallic paint.

Wait until the paint is completely dry and apply craquelure varnish. The other side of the jar will be decorated with a napkin, so do not cover this area with craquelure.

When the craquelure dries to a “light touch” state, cover the jar with a sponge with acrylic latex paint. Try to do this with quick, confident movements, without hitting the same place twice. Dry the jar with a hair dryer, remove the protective film and varnish it all, except for the window.

From the prepared napkin, tear out the fragments you like.

Note to the needlewoman.
Oracal application film can be purchased at stationery stores in A-4 sheets.

If your spices are stored in the open bags you bought them in, then be prepared for the flavors to blend and then dissipate. Any spices are best stored in opaque, tightly closed containers. In order not to spend money on the purchase of special sets, you can make jars for storing spices with your own hands. Today you will learn how to turn glass baby food containers into beautiful containers for seasonings and spices.

To work, you need to collect:

  • 4 jars of baby food with a volume of 80 g;
  • acrylic primer;
  • brush;
  • napkin for decoupage;
  • PVA glue;
  • eggshell;
  • glossy varnish;
  • scissors;
  • a piece of foam rubber;
  • green and yellow gouache.

Making jars for spices

Prepare the jars: wash, remove the label, dry. It is best to take the smallest ones, the volume of which does not exceed 100 g.

To create texture on the surface, glue pieces of eggshell around the circle of each jar. It is securely fixed to the glass with PVA glue.

This is what the containers look like after the glue has dried.

Now they need to be covered with acrylic primer. Apply the first layer with a brush.

And it is desirable to apply all subsequent layers to the surface with a piece of foam rubber. So the soil will lay down more evenly.
The next photo shows the jars completely coated with white acrylic primer.

The textured part of the containers is decorated with pieces of decoupage napkins with a beautiful ornament.

Don't forget the lids too. For them, cut a thin strip from the napkin.

It is necessary to separate the uppermost bright layer from three-layer paper, attach it to the surface and coat it with PVA glue on top.

It will seep through the paper, and the ornament will firmly stick to the textured surface of the jar.

A narrow strip in the same way must be glued to the rim of the caps.

Now mix yellow and green gouache by adding a drop of PVA glue.

With the resulting paint, write the names of the spices on the caps, using a very thin brush for this.

After that, add more yellow gouache to the coloring mixture (to make it lighter) and decorate the entire surface of the jars with foam rubber.

This is how they should be transformed as a result of your actions.

It remains only to cover them with 2 layers of glossy colorless varnish.

Hello dear friends!

Baby food jars often fall into the economic category, which can be described as a pity to throw away, but there is no need to store it. My simple step-by-step master class will allow you to find a use for a certain number of such jars.

In the manufacture, simple materials were used that are easy to purchase or find in the pantry, you can see all the actions in the photo.

List of materials for decoupage on glass:

  • White acrylic enamel
  • Acrylic lacquer - urethane for floors and furniture.
  • PVA glue universal.
  • Nail polish remover (cheapest with acetone).
  • Nail polish
  • Three-layer napkins with a pattern.

List of tools:

  • Brush, sponge, scissors, cotton pads and sticks, toothpicks.

How to do decoupage on glass

Clean the jar of labels and glue. Degrease with nail polish remover. The liquid can be replaced with any solvent or alcohol-containing liquid.

To control the amount of spices in a jar, you need a window. You can do it with tape. Double-sided tape is best for this procedure. Stick it on a flat surface, draw a circle, peel it off and cut it out. Glue the circle to the jar and peel off the release paper.

Next, paint the jar with white acrylic enamel with a sponge. The lid must be painted in 3 layers, the jar is enough 2 layers. The threaded neck should remain unpainted; it is convenient to use cotton swabs for adjustments.

When staining, try not to climb too hard on the window with adhesive tape. Dry each layer for 30-40 minutes. After applying 2 layers to the jar, without waiting for it to dry, remove the tape from the window. Be especially careful to peel it off around the edges so as not to remove the paint.

Correct edge defects with a sponge with paint. Especially you can not try, because the contour will be applied. Leave the jar and lid on for 3-4 hours until completely dry.

For the contour, old thickened nail polish or the simplest inexpensive varnish will do. Draw the outline of the window.

Use a toothpick to write the name of the seasoning. It is necessary to write from the middle, otherwise the name will be asymmetrical. You can correct the contour and the inscription with cotton swabs dipped in nail polish remover.

For 6-8 jars, 2 napkins 33 * 33 cm, with a plant theme, will be more than enough. It is better to use white napkins with a small pattern.

Cut out motifs from napkins, cut out as close as possible to the outline of the picture, separate the top color layer.

Dilute the PVA glue with water by half. Place motifs on the jar and lid, and stick them with a brush. Place a brush with glue in the center of the motif and lead to the edge, one place at a time.

Do not allow the appearance of wrinkles, straighten carefully over the wet glue.

Dry for an hour.

Coat the jar and lid with varnish, try not to touch the window. When covering with the first layer, try not to brush over one place more than once, in order to avoid slipping of the pattern. Make the first layer as thin as possible. The total number of layers is at least 5.

It should be remembered that building varnish gives a slight yellowness after 4 layers, so you need to wring out the brush before applying the coating, in order to avoid bumps and thickening.

Dry each layer for 2-3 hours, the final layer for a day.

A convenient and beautiful spice storage system is ready. Storing seasonings in glass with tight lids prevents flavors from escaping.
