How to mold a mammoth from plasticine with your own hands in stages. Volumetric picture from plasticine "Mammoth Mammoths from plasticine

In today's photo tutorial, we will tell you how to mold a mammoth from plasticine. The craft is quite simple, and if you have already mastered the process of sculpting an elephant, then you should not have any difficulties with creating a mammoth. Despite the fact that mammoths lived on the planet many years ago, the kids are still familiar with the appearance of animals and it would be interesting for many to mold a mini-copy of a realistic mammoth from plasticine.

For modeling you will need:

  • plasticine brown, dark brown, black and white;
  • several convenient blades for working with the mass;
  • toothpick.

How to make a mammoth from plasticine

Step 1. To create a mammoth, we will use two shades of plasticine: brown and dark brown. From the light mass we create the basis of the animal - a massive body. First, we fashion a sausage from a piece of mass. Then we draw out one of its tips and smooth out all the bumps.

Step 2. Now you need to attach four legs to the created torso. We also sculpt these details from sausages. Glue them to the body and give them the correct shape.

Step 3. Scraping the top layer of plasticine from the base, we create the texture of the mammoth's wool cover.

Step 4. Next, we sculpt a teardrop-shaped head blank. We stretch the tip of the workpiece, forming a long trunk.

We attach the head with a toothpick or a match. After attaching the head, bend the tip of the trunk inward.

Step 5. We attach small cake ears to the head.

Step 6. We form cakes from dark brown plasticine and attach them to the upper part of the head and torso. With a stack we cut the texture on the attached parts.

Step 7. At the base of the trunk we fix curved white tusks.

We make indentations on the face, glue small eyes and refine the texture.

Try to cut out such a mammoth.

The work is difficult.

Such a craft will surely appeal to your loved ones by placing it in a conspicuous place, for example, on a shelf. To make this craft, you will need the following:

Sawing tools.

Preparing your desktop

First of all, you need to prepare your table on which you will work. It should not have unnecessary things and every tool should be at hand. Not everyone has their own desktop and probably already thought about creating it. Making a table is not difficult - it is difficult to choose a place for it in the house. The ideal option is a warmed balcony, where you can do crafts at any time. I already wrote about table preparation in a separate article and tried to describe the whole process of its creation in as much detail as possible. If you don't know how to prepare your workplace, then read the following Article. After you have completed the process of creating a table, try to start choosing your future craft.

Choosing quality material

The main material is plywood. Her choice is always difficult. Each of us must have faced such a problem as delamination of plywood from the end part and asked such a question, why such delamination? Well, it's mostly due to low-quality plywood. If you took the jigsaw in your hands not for the first time, then you can pick up plywood from the remnants of the previous craft. If you are new to sawing and you do not have plywood, then buy it at a hardware store. Choosing material for sawing is always difficult. You should always choose plywood carefully, more often look at the defects of the tree (knots, cracks) and draw conclusions. The complexity of choosing plywood lies in the fact that no matter how you miscalculate its flaws and shelf life. For example, you bought plywood, cleaned it, translated the drawing, and suddenly it began to delaminate. Of course, this happened to almost everyone and it is oh so unpleasant. So it is better to pay attention when choosing and choose good plywood. I wrote a special Article, which describes step by step all the principles of choosing plywood.

Stripping plywood

We clean our plywood with sandpaper. As you already know, “Medium-grained” and “Fine-grained” skins are used to clean plywood in sawing. In construction stores, you probably saw skins (sandpaper in a different way), and they are what we need. In the work you will need "Coarse-grained", "Medium-grained" and "Fine-grained" skin. Each of them has its own property, but a completely different coating, in which it is classified. “Coarse-grained” skin is used for processing rough plywood, i.e. which has many defects, chips, as well as cracks.
"Medium-grained" skin is used for processing plywood after "Large" skins and has a slight coating. "Fine-grained" or otherwise "Nulevka". Such sandpaper serves as the final process of stripping plywood. It gives plywood smoothness, and therefore plywood will be pleasant to the touch. Sand the prepared plywood in stages, starting with medium-grained and ending with fine emery. Grind along the layers, not across. A well sanded surface should be even, perfectly smooth, glossy in the light and silky to the touch. How best to prepare plywood for sawing and which sandpaper is better to choose Read here. After stripping, check the plywood for burrs and small bumps. If there are no visible defects, then you can proceed to the process of translating the drawing.

Drawing Translation

For me, the translation of a drawing has always been the main process in my work. I will tell you a couple of rules, as well as tips for high-quality translation of the drawing. Many transfer the drawing to plywood not only with a pencil and copy, but also with the help of the Black Tape, glue the drawing with plywood, then wash off the drawing with water and the drawing markings remain on the plywood. In general, there are many ways, but I will talk about the most common method. To transfer the drawing to the prepared plywood, you must use a copy, a ruler, a sharp pencil and a non-writing pen. Fix the drawing in plywood with buttons or just hold it with your left hand. Check if the drawing fits the dimensions. Arrange the drawing of the clock so that the plywood sheet is used as economically as possible. Translate the drawing with a non-writing pen and ruler. You should not rush, because your future craft depends on the drawing.

Drilling holes in pieces

As you have already noticed, there are parts of the grooves in the details that need to be cut from the inside. To cut out such details, it is necessary to drill holes in them using a hand drill or, as in the old fashioned way, make holes with an awl. By the way, the diameter of the hole must be at least 1 mm, otherwise you can damage the elements of the drawing, which, alas, are sometimes difficult to restore. In order not to damage your desktop when drilling holes, you need to place a plank under the workpiece so as not to damage the desktop. Drilling holes alone is always difficult, so ask a friend to help you with your business.

Sawing details

There are many rules for sawing, but you need to be based on the most common ones. First of all, you need to cut out the internal parts, only then along the outer pattern. There is no need to rush when cutting. The main thing is to always keep the jigsaw straight at an angle of 90 degrees when cutting. Cut out the parts along the lines you marked exactly. The movements of the jigsaw should always be smooth up and down. Also, don't forget to watch your posture. Try to avoid bevels and bumps. If you get off the line while sawing, don't worry. Such bevels, irregularities can be removed with flat files or “Coarse-grained” sandpaper.

Relaxation

When sawing, we often get tired. Often fingers get tired as well as eyes, which are always in suspense. At work, of course, everyone gets tired. In order to reduce the load, you need to do a couple of exercises. Exercises you can see here. Do the exercises several times during the work.

Stripping Details

It is always necessary to clean the details of future crafts carefully. At the very beginning of work, you already cleaned the plywood with sandpaper. Now you have to do a small part of plywood stripping. With a “medium-grained” sandpaper, clean the edges of the parts and the back of the plywood. "Fine-grained" skin is considered the final stage of cleaning parts. Fine sandpaper is better to clean the front of the parts. When processing plywood, take your time. You can also use a rounded file, with which it is convenient to clean the inside of the holes. Try to get the details without burrs and bumps.

Assembly of parts

Assembling the details of our crafts here is not so difficult. In order to carry out the correct assembly of parts, you need to read the following Article, which details all the details of the assembly. After the parts are assembled into one common craft without any problems, then proceed to gluing them.

We glue the details

It is necessary to glue the parts of the shelf with PVA or titan glue. You don't need to pour a lot of glue. It is better to tie the assembled craft on glue with a strong thread, tighten it and put it to dry. The craft sticks together for about 10-15 minutes.

burning crafts

To decorate our craft with a pattern (for example, along the edges of the craft), you will need an electric burner. Beautifully burn out the pattern can be very difficult. To burn out patterns, you must first draw a pattern with a pencil. You can read how to work with an electric burner and add patterns to a shelf here.

DIY varnishing

If desired, you can transform our craft by coating it with varnish “On Wood”, preferably colorless. Read how best to Varnish crafts. Try to choose a quality varnish. Lacquering is done with a special brush "For glue". Take your time. Try not to leave visible streaks and scratches on the craft.

Any child is deeply touched by a cartoon about a little mammoth who slept for a long time, then woke up and did not find his beloved mother. Even adults are a little sad when they watch a fascinating painted story of an unusual baby together with their children. But the joyful end of an amazing tale inspires. To enhance the feeling of euphoria, invite your child to mold a little mammoth out of plasticine. Do not doubt that everything will work out for you, because the baby mammoth is the same baby elephant, only in a fur coat. Therefore, a shaggy elephant should be sculpted. If you have already managed to buy colorful plasticine and watched the cartoon, then it's time to get to work. All the necessary information on how to mold a mammoth from plasticine is given below.

When choosing plasticine, remember that brown will be used most of all to create a mammoth. In addition, you will need two shades of brown, so you may have to create a lighter shade yourself by mixing suitable colors if beige is not available.

The initial stage is the modeling of a brown ball. Next, slightly squeeze the part to make it flatter.

Press one side of the brown mass onto the modeling board. In this place, the legs will be attached in the future.

Work the entire circumference of the rounded workpiece with a stack to create the illusion of a shaggy animal coat.

To sculpt four legs, prepare beige balls or use light brown plasticine for this.

Turn each ball into a tube, then insert a match into the top for future fastening. Make notches in a stack at the ends and attach dark brown circles to the central part.

Put the cartoon on its feet, sticking the ends of the matches into the flat part of the fur coat.

From the same light plasticine, blind a small tail.

Attach this piece to the back.

Starting to create a head, roll up a beige ball. Stick on big blue eyes.

Stick tubercles under the eyes - these will be the cheeks of a smiling character.

Attach a long trunk to the central part of the muzzle.

To make big ears, combine beige and orange tortillas.

Attach the ears in place.

Connect the head to the main workpiece by first sticking a match into the plasticine.

And the last detail of the appearance of a small brave hero is a thick forelock. Make it from short sausages.

A plasticine mammoth is ready to go in search of his mother on an ice floe. After such an exciting lesson, the child will definitely want to make parents - large elephants - for their crafts.

We invite children to feel like paleontologists and make about large picture of plasticinewith the image of a mammoth. Little researchers can restore the appearance of an animal from plasticine based on a “photo” of its skeleton and their knowledge.

The size of the mammoth did not exceed modern elephants, but its body was more massive, and its legs were shorter. It had thick fur and long, curved tusks that were used to get food from under the snow.

For manufacturing you will need:

  • landscape sheet (half of A4 format)
  • plasticine
  • colored paper
  • colored cardboard,
  • colored pencils or markers
  • scissors

For classes with children, purchase proven plasticine (plant-based, without harmful additives). It is better to buy plasticine from well-established manufacturers.

Manufacturing process:

1. Draw a mammoth skeleton with your child on half of the album sheet.

2. Take the main color for sculpting a mammoth, for example brown. Make the body of a mammoth by pressing it against a sheet of paper, focusing on the image of the skeleton.

3. To make wool, roll thin "sausages" in your hands, then attach them to where the mammoth's wool grew - along the ridge, on the head and back.

4. Now you can move on to the manufacture of medium-sized parts - eyes, ears, tusks, tail and "claws" on the legs.

5. Using a pencil, scratch in some details, such as knees, wrinkles, and a mouth.

6. Surround the mammoth with plasticine mountains or plasticine grass. Draw tall trees with colored pencils, they can also be cut out of colored paper and glued around.

Before you start making crafts from Mammoth plasticine, tell the children more about these animals. A three-dimensional picture made of plasticine can become a real masterpiece of a small artist, in addition, it will successfully decorate the wall in the children's room of a young paleontologist.

Prepared by Katerina Vasilenkova

If you, together with us, have learned how to sculpt an elephant from plasticine, then it's time to slightly complicate the task and move on to sculpting a mammoth. Although you should not think that making this ancient animal is much more difficult. Mammoth is the same elephant, but only its body is covered with thick wool. To sculpt this huge creature, it is best to use brown plasticine. So, when modeling a mammoth, as well as when modeling an elephant, it is necessary to show a long trunk and huge tusks. So be sure to get to work, guided by our photo instructions.

1. Soften the brown pieces of plasticine and roll a ball from one, a long sausage from the other.

2. Stick the sausage on the ball, you should get the basis for the head of a mammoth with a long trunk.

3. The nose can be bent as you wish. It is best to lower it down and bend back.

4. On the sides of the trunk, place the processes for the tusks. All details must be done in a single color scheme.

5. To create eyes, make small holes on the front of the animal. Insert small crumbs of white and black plasticine into the resulting holes. Attach oval ears. Remember that mammoths have very small ears compared to elephants. Insert the tusks into the previously prepared processes, it is advisable to use ivory plasticine for this. It can be obtained by mixing a drop of brown with white.

7. Connect the two parts.

8. Knead four pieces for sculpting legs, roll into balls.

9. You can easily get thick legs from balls by pressing and swinging the plates in different directions.

10. Connect the legs to the body, and attach a neat ponytail at the back.

11. The animal is ready. But for now, it's more of an elephant than a mammoth. Create a fur outfit with the help of a stack, pushing a lot of small grooves on the entire surface of the back and crown.

Here is such a prehistoric animal turned out. Now be sure to tell your child the story of the development of human civilization and the important role that mammoths played in it.
