DIY storage boxes. How to make a storage box? Convenient do-it-yourself boxes for household items Do-it-yourself box for small items made of cardboard

Every home has small items such as paper clips, pins, beads, buttons, etc. which are very difficult to find at the right time. Often they lie in a variety of, sometimes not at all suitable, places and only interfere with maintaining order. A box for small things will help solve this problem. To make it with your own hands, you will not need any special skills and a lot of time, and in this material you will find several original ideas with a detailed description of the work.

Let's make a box for small things with our own hands in several versions

To make it easy to find the right thing in a large box with small items, the box should have at least a few areas fenced off from each other. In this example, we will make an organizer with several levels of trays on which paper trays are located.

For work, you will need a shoe box and several covers from similar boxes, paper (white, colored or decorative with a pattern), scissors, glue "moment".

Production of paper trays.

At the beginning of our master class, you need to make paper boxes that will stand on trays of lids. Their number depends on the size of the box, the number of levels. It is desirable to calculate their size so that a whole number of trays fit into the box vertically and horizontally. For example, 3x5.

We begin to fold square sheets of paper. We bend the sheet horizontally in half, unfold, then bend vertically and unfold again. In the same way, we make folds along both diagonals.

Then 4 corners are evenly bent to the center. We bend the two sides of the resulting rhombus to the center, return it to its place and repeat with the other two sides.

Fully expand the workpiece. Now you can see a grid of small squares on it. We apply glue to the central part and bend the corners, forming a box.

We also bend 2 more opposite sides. The tray is ready!

We put the first level of trays on the bottom of the box, the next - on the lid (slightly smaller, since it should be included in the box). If there is still room in the box, the third level can be done in the same way.

We lay out beads, beads, buttons, pins, paper clips, any other little things and devices for needlework on trays. You can use the box!

At will, we decorate our organizer: you can paste over it with decorative paper or fabric, place embroidery, decoupage, volumetric decor from buttons, ribbons, etc. on it.

Let's make a box for trifles from corrugated cardboard

This durable and neat box is almost as good as a wooden organizer. It is easy to use and even a beginner can do it.

We cut out the details for the corrugated cardboard lattice, as shown in the photo below. We make cuts in the middle of the part and carefully separate 2 layers of cardboard between them. This is necessary so that the edges of the future lattice are even and flat. It turns out quite aesthetically pleasing.

Fold the lattice pieces in half. It is not necessary to glue them, as they hold well when assembled. You will need 2 longer strips (longitudinal) and 3 shorter ones (transverse). The assembled grid will look like this:

We cut out a scan for the base of the box from cardboard. In the places of the main folds, we make a ridge - we make cuts and remove 2 layers of cardboard. Along the edges, you should also get single-layer sections.

We carefully bend the scan along the lines, press the folds with our fingers, so they will turn out to be the most accurate. We bend the wide single-layer sections for gluing inward. For convenience, scoring lines are drawn along the sections and at a distance of 3 mm from them, for example, using the tip of a compass.

Cut out 2 rectangles of the same size for the inner layer of the lid and the inner bottom of the base.

We begin to assemble and glue the box with instant glue. First, we bend and glue wide single-layer sections. We glue the inner bottom, having previously made cuts for attaching the grate.

We glue the inner layer of the cover, then glue its edges, folding the cardboard in 2 layers. We bend and glue single-layer sections.

We lay the grate on the bottom and pour glue into the slots along the short sides. We insert the grate into the slots, press it. Then we glue the walls of the box. We glue the magnets by cutting round holes for them in 2 layers of cardboard.

It is important to choose magnets that are suitable in thickness. If the thickness is more than 3 mm, before gluing the box wall, special nests must be glued in the form of an additional layer of cardboard. Magnets should be strong enough, one of the best options is figured ones. In addition, you can make loops for the lid. They will need to be fastened with pieces of a ruler made of wood or plastic.

The easiest way is to cut the loops out of cardboard according to rectangular patterns and punch them in the middle.

The little box is ready! You can decorate it to your taste.

A selection of video tutorials on making boxes for small items:

It is safe to say that everyone has thousands of all sorts of small things that have nowhere to put, and therefore they are constantly in disarray and interfere. And when you need it, you won't find the right pin or paperclip. But there is a way out - you can make a box for small things with your own hands.

How to make a box for small things: materials

To make such a kind of organizer for storing small things, you will need:

  • a shoebox and a few lids from other boxes;
  • glue;
  • scissors;
  • sheets of paper - ordinary white, colored or gift paper.

How to make an organizer for small things: a master class

The idea of the box is that several layers of paper trays will need to be placed in the shoe box. So, first, let's look at how to make a paper tray.

  1. We make out the fold lines - for this we bend the sheet in half horizontally and unfold it. Bend in half again, but vertically. Having unfolded, we bend the sheet in half diagonally in different directions and unbend.
  2. We turn each corner of the square into the center of the sheet - we get a rhombus.
  3. We bend the two opposite sides of the rhombus inward to the center and unbend. We do the same with other parties.
  4. We completely unfold the workpiece and, not forgetting to apply glue to the center, bend two opposite corners to the center and mark the sides of the tray.
  5. We do the same with other opposite corners, but first, at the sides of the future sidewalls, we need to make deflections inward.
  6. So it turns out a tray!

You need a lot of these little boxes. The fact is that first we set the first level - at the bottom of the box we place the trays we made in several rows right next to each other. Therefore, it is advisable to calculate their size before manufacturing the trays so that they fit well in the box.

Then we collect the next level. To do this, on the lid of a smaller box, we lay out the trays end-to-end and in several rows.

We do the same with the other lid - put the trays on it again. We make the third level at will or if there is space in the box.

Thus, we have a wonderful organizer for small things with our own hands.

It is convenient to put buttons, beads, needles, beads, accessories and other attributes of needlewomen into it. Yes, and small stationery is conveniently stored here too.

Regarding how to decorate a box for small things, it all depends on your desire - you can paste it over with beautiful paper, decorate it with fabric, decoupage, embroidery, buttons.

You can also make it convenient for you with your own hands - and then all things will be in order!

Our storage box, as you already understood, is made of corrugated cardboard, but other than that, it has nothing to do with parcel or shoe boxes. Thanks to its solid and solid construction, as well as special seam processing, it can be compared with wooden organizer boxes.

In fact, this box was originally created as a storage for a collection of minerals - we were asked to help in this matter by kindergarten workers (specific dimensions and number of cells were given). But having looked at the finished product, we came to the conclusion that the scope of this box can be much wider, and it can be useful not only for employees of children's educational institutions and collectors.

Have you already figured out what you can put in the cells? :) Then this master class is for you!

Master class: do-it-yourself cardboard box for small items

Materials and tools:

- sheets of A4 office paper (for printing templates);
- corrugated cardboard with a thickness of about 3 mm;
- a little microcorrugated cardboard;
- clerical and mock-up knife;
- scissors;
- metal ruler;
- creasing tool;
- pencil;
- glue stick;
- double sided tape;
- glue "Moment Crystal";
- small magnets

Immediately download the templates for cutting out the details of the box for small things:

And let's get started.

As usual, we first print and glue the composite templates. Cut out pieces of cardboard on them. At this stage, I will not stop - this typical process has already been repeatedly described in previous master classes, for example,.

The only thing I want to draw your attention to: along the blue lines on the templates, cuts should not be made through, about half the thickness of the cardboard (marking). Be careful not to damage the face of the cardboard.

Another important point - the direction of the waves of the corrugated layer (i.e. lines on the wrong side of the cardboard). The mechanical properties of the cardboard depend on this. So, the recommended direction of the waves is indicated on the templates themselves. When cutting, simply orient the templates accordingly.

1. Preparation of lattice details.

So, the details are cut out, and the blue lines are marked (cuts are made).

Then we bend the parts outward along the notch lines (as if breaking).

Separate 2 layers of cardboard between the cuts.

What is it for? You can, of course, just do the creasing and fold the part in half. But in this case, the upper narrow face of the lattice part will turn out with rounded corners. If you separate 2 layers of cardboard, then the edge will be even and flat. This, you see, in this particular case looks more aesthetically pleasing.

Fold in half all the details of the lattice. It is not necessary to glue them together, in the assembled state everything will hold very securely.

Transverse (short) parts must be made in triplicate. However, there are two templates on the sheet, so either cut out the parts in 2 layers, or print an additional sheet with templates.

We collect the lattice for our box for small things.

2. Preparation of a development of the base of the box for small things.

After we cut out the development of the base, we crease it along the dashed lines.

Clue!If you have already worked with corrugated cardboard, you probably noticed that it creats and bends very well across the waves of the corrugated layer, but there may be difficulties along the way. When the fold line hits the top of the wave (i.e. directly on or close to the visible line on the wrong side of the board), creasing is difficult and the fold can be uneven. In this case, you can make an incision (for reliability, you can also punch through to take the edges of the cardboard layers along the incision) and then bend it.

On the blue lines we make a ridge and separate 2 layers of cardboard in the corresponding areas.

You should get approximately these single-layer sections.

Your unfolding will be slightly different around the edges, as we have adjusted the templates afterwards. There is no limit to perfection. :)

We carefully bend the scan along the corresponding lines. Here we recommend additionally finger folds along the entire length so that the corners are as accurate as possible. This is important for the subsequent assembly!

Wide single-layer sections of cardboard will need to be bent onto the inner surface of the reamer. For convenience, let's draw 2 creasing lines - directly along the cut of the corrugated cardboard and at a distance of 3 mm from it. This can be done with the tip of a compass.

No scoring is required here. It is only necessary to perform the ribbing and separate 2 layers of cardboard in the appropriate areas (see photo).

In addition, cut out the inner layer of the cover (rectangle 360×280 mm) and the inner bottom of the base of the box (according to the template).

4. Assembling a box for small items.

We bend and glue (on Moment Crystal glue) wide single-layer sections of cardboard on the development of the base. This is necessary so that there are no gaps at the corners.

Glue the inner bottom exactly in the center of the base of the box (face up).

Glue the inner layer of the lid (also with the right side out).

We glue the extreme parts of the lid by folding in half.

We glue the short side parts to the inner layer (in this case, the glue must also be applied to single-layer sections - the inner surfaces of the side faces). Press firmly and hold until the glue sets.

We bend and glue single-layer sections of cardboard, as shown in the photo.

We apply glue on the front and back parts (including single-layer areas) and glue to the inner layer of the cover and to the side parts (in the corners).

We collect the base of the box for storing small things in the following order. We put the grate on the bottom, pour the glue into the slots of the inner layer along the short sides, alternately insert the side walls into the slots of the grate and the slots in the bottom, press well and hold until the glue grabs. Then we glue the front and back walls (do not forget to apply glue to single-layer sections.

So, using only a multilayer cardboard structure, you can create an almost seamless design, which, it would seem, is unusual for corrugated cardboard.

Now let's prepare the nests for the magnets. The template set includes a special template for cutting holes. We fix it in the center of the upper face of the front wall and cut out the circles (but not through and through!). For this operation, it is better to use a breadboard knife.

We cut out the same nests in the middle of the front edge of the lid. We remove only the first 2 layers of cardboard.

We used these round magnets with a diameter of 11 mm. You can remove the magnet with an awl, destroying the walls of the socket in the plastic case.

We plant magnets in nests on glue.

When choosing magnets, pay attention to their thickness. If it turns out to be more than 3 mm, then before gluing the base of the box for small things, glue an additional layer of cardboard from the inside to the area where there will be nests for magnets.

You can, of course, pick up other magnets. The main thing is that they are strong enough. A very good option is fitting magnets.

By the way, among the accessories you can also pick up hinges for a cardboard box. Only for their fastening it will be necessary to additionally glue pieces of a wooden or plastic ruler.

We went the simplest and most affordable way - we made loops from microcorrugated cardboard. We cut out 2 rectangles according to the templates and punched them in the middle both along the inner and outer surfaces. It is also worth bending the loops both outward and inward so that they move more freely in both directions.

For greater reliability, you can make not 2 short, but one continuous long loop.

Glue the hinges to the base and lid.

Important point:on a small area along the fold line (it will be visible when the lid is open), you do not need to apply glue!

Here is the finished storage box. I have to say, the product is good. :)

Since we had a box for a collection of minerals, we made a carved application of microcorrugated cardboard on the lid. For those who are interested, the templates for the application are in the downloadable file.

The dimensions of the box that you can make yourself are as follows: 360×280×61mm. Cell dimensions: 76×76×44mm.

In general, you can decorate such a box in a variety of ways, for example, using a variety of decoupage techniques.

Decorative boxes will help not only solve the problem of storing things, but also diversify the interior. Our review presents simple ideas for homemade boxes for storing small change and step-by-step master classes on how to make an organizer for cosmetics, clothes and other small things with your own hands.

Using simple materials, you can create an original textile product for storing various items. For the manufacture you will need a piece of dense fabric.

So, a fabric storage box is made in several stages:

  • You will need a fabric sheet with dimensions of 48 * 43.5 cm.
  • This piece of material is cut into squares at four corners, measuring 14 cm by 12 cm.

A template is made from paper. With it, it will be possible to mark up to connect the parts of the textile box.

Distance between marks must be 15 cm long. When performing calculations, you need to make sure that there is enough material for the job. Markings can be made with a ruler.

Then place the template on top of the material. According to the marks, cuts are made along the width of the strip of fabric that will be used to sew the box together.

Then the strips of fabric are pulled into the holes made.

  • In total, four strips are required with a width of 0.7 cm and 16 cm in length.
  • After tightening the pieces of fabric into the product, they need to be cut off at the top.

When the box is ready, you need to put heavy pieces of wood into it to give the desired shape.

As strips for stitching, a single-color fabric or pieces of leather are selected.

A capacious and original storage container is ready.
