The assembly and connection of new lighting is carried out by them either as part of a general renovation of the premises, or separately. Services can be ordered on any day of the week around the clock.

Formation of the cost of the order

Preliminary prices for the services of specialists can be found in their profile. The presented prices reflect how much this or that type of installation of Armstrong lighting costs on average. The final cost of installing Armstrong type lamps will depend on the following factors:

  • scope of work (connection of how many light bulbs are required and on what area)
  • the type of connected Armstrong lamp (the installation of LED or fluorescent bulbs involves a different type of fastening in complexity)
  • the need to dismantle old lighting (ordinary chandeliers, other types of ceiling lighting)

There may be other factors that will affect the amount of the order. But in any case, the price of installing an Armstrong lamp when ordering for Yuda will be one of the most affordable in Moscow.

To illuminate the Armstrong ceiling, which is widely used in offices, retail spaces, exhibition halls, educational and medical institutions, are used lamps of different types. Standard fixtures have dimensions of 595x595, matching the dimensions of the ceiling tiles. Less often, for the Armstrong ceiling, round lamps are used that cut directly into the slab, as well as lighting blocks of non-standard sizes: 300x600mm, 1200x300mm, 1195x180mm and others.

With the correct calculation of the number of fixtures, they create sufficient lighting for any room.

There are two types of ceiling lights: fluorescent and LED.

  • Fluorescent

The standard unit is equipped with four fluorescent lamps with a power, as a rule, of 18 watts. These lamps are an economical option for office lighting. Today, this type of fixture is used less and less, as a new, more profitable type of lighting elements has appeared.

  • LED

The lamp of such lamps consists of several LEDs, the more there are, the more powerful it is. Their service life is calculated in years. Therefore, despite the higher cost of LED lamps compared to fluorescent ones, their use is much more profitable in terms of cost savings.

LED lamps are also more preferable in terms of emitted light: it does not ripple, is brighter and as close as possible to daylight, which makes the light from LED lamps more comfortable for a person. In addition, LED lighting elements do not require additional maintenance and, unlike fluorescent ones, their disposal does not cause any problems.

Armstrong ceiling lighting installation

As a rule, 600x600 luminaires are mounted on carrier rails and connected before laying ceiling tiles, it greatly simplifies the installation process. However, there are times when it is necessary to install and connect a luminaire in a fully assembled ceiling, for example, in the case of replacing luminaires from fluorescent to LED.

The body of the lighting device with a size of 600x600 is built into the opening left for it, and when using spotlights, they are cut directly into the decorative ceiling slab. No additional accessories for installation are required - everything necessary for connection is included in the lighting unit kit.

You can also additionally fix the case on the ceiling using hangers and special cables. This is often done for safety reasons - such installation completely eliminates the possibility of a collapse of the lighting device.

What is the cost of installation

As a rule, the installation of fixtures occurs simultaneously with the installation of the entire Armstrong ceiling. But, despite the seeming ease of this type of work, right can only fulfill experienced professional electrician, which has everything you need to install lighting fixtures on the ceiling: a ladder, insulating protective materials and tools. Installation cost is quite available, so you should not expose yourself to the risk of making a mistake, it is wiser to entrust the installation of the device to a professional.

Cost of work depends from some factors:

  • Room ceiling height
  • Number of lighting blocks
  • Installation of wiring and switches, if the ceiling is new
  • Dismantling of old equipment

The exact cost of the work you can find out after the specialist has examined the installation site, and the preliminary one - by sending an application to the site or by calling the indicated phones. In the same way, you can get detailed advice on the selection and purchase of Armstrong lamps.

Suspended ceiling Armstrong today can be found very often. These hanging systems are very popular due to their modern style. The installation of the Armstrong false ceiling is very simple and allows you to hide any ceiling communications.

The usual suspended ceiling Armstrong technical specifications are simply impressive:

  • Noise suppression up to 39 dB
  • Light reflectance over 92%
  • Ceiling deflection is only 2 mm at a temperature of +32 degrees and a humidity of 90%

In addition, the materials from which the ceiling plates are made are environmentally friendly and do not contain formaldehyde and asbestos.

Mount suspended ceilings such as Armstrong in a room with an already completed repair. Compared to plasterboard ceilings, Armstrong does not need additional finishing (puttying, painting, wallpapering).

They can be built in any kind of lighting fixtures. The structure is attached to the floor slabs, however, due to its low weight, it does not exert a serious load on them.

If you decide to use an Armstrong suspended ceiling for finishing an apartment or a country house, then this is a great option. It will give the room a modern stylish look.

The ease of assembly of the structure will not take you much time, and it will also allow you to avoid dust in the room. Almost any self-respecting home master can assemble the Armstrong suspended ceiling with his own hands.

To know how to calculate the Armstrong suspended ceiling, you need to draw a floor plan (top view) and indicate on it the exact dimensions of each wall. To do this, use a measuring tape. To calculate the ceiling, you need to know what is included in its delivery.

Fastening jumpers to the carrier profile

Armstrong suspended ceiling accessories are listed below:

  • Decorative ceiling tiles 600mm x 600mm x 15mm
  • Wall corner (profile PU 19 x 24)
  • Bearing profile type T 15 x 38 or T 24 x 38
  • Profile transverse type T 15 or T 24
  • Universal suspension (spoke, spring)

  • The number of wall corner is equal to the perimeter of the room. It is attached to the wall with dowel-nails 6 x 40 mm in increments of 35-45 cm.
  • The Armstrong Suspended Ceiling Support Profile is suspended from the existing ceiling along a long wall. The distance between the profiles is calculated in such a way that a decorative plate measuring 600 x 600 mm lies on the shelves of two adjacent profiles.
  • When the suspended Armstrong ceiling is mounted, the suspensions are placed in increments of 1 m along the line of the carrier profiles. The lines must be drawn on the plan of the room and indicate the attachment points of the suspensions.
  • The bearing profiles and the wall corner are interconnected by jumpers. They are fixed in increments of 600 mm.

It's important to know! Bearing profiles must be placed symmetrically with respect to the longitudinal axis of the room.

These four simple rules will help you easily calculate the number of elements for a false ceiling system. The Armstrong suspended ceiling calculation is completed and you can proceed to the next operation.

Wall and ceiling markings

It's important to know! The minimum height to which the ceiling can be lowered is equal to the height of the recessed luminaire plus 1 cm (this is the technological gap).

Using a laser or water level, the horizontal plane of the ceiling being assembled is determined. To do this, make marks around the perimeter and connect them with masking plaster tape. The operation requires the presence of one assistant.

After marking the walls, mark the axes of the bearing profiles.

To simplify work, at a distance of 30 cm or 60 cm from the longest wall of the room (depending on how the axes are plotted on the drawing), pull the cord parallel to the wall. The edges of the cord are tied to dowels hammered into the walls. This is the first

The second axis is pulled perpendicular to the first, stepping back from the corner distance according to the drawing. From the axes, the rest of the carrier profiles are marked. On lines with a step of 1 m, the mounting points of universal suspensions are marked.

Hanging frame installation

The wall galvanized corner is cut to size. The ends of the profile, which are joined at the corners, are cut with scissors for metal at an angle of 45 degrees. Holes are drilled in the corner with a step of 30-40 cm.

The corner profile is applied to the wall along the marking line and marks for the holes are made with a pencil.

Holes are drilled with a drill and a drill for concrete (or depending on the material from which the walls are made). After the holes are ready, dowels are hammered into them with a hammer. The wall corner profile is fixed with self-tapping screws to the wall.

According to the marks on the axes of the supporting profiles, dowels 6 x 40 mm are used to fasten the suspensions. A drill and a drill for concrete prepare a hole.

A dowel is hammered into it with a hammer. A self-tapping screw is screwed through a loop at one end of the suspension. If dowel-nails are used, then the nail is hammered into the dowel.

Armstrong false ceiling is fastened to the hangers by crocheting into the notch on the profile. The end of the profile should lie on the shelf of the wall corner. In order to increase the length of the profiles, they are joined together.

To do this, you can use ready-made joints or home-made plates cut from scraps of the same profile. The profile is cut to size with a grinder or a hacksaw. The height of the profile is adjusted with a universal suspension.

A spring is installed to fix the position of the suspension spokes. It is quite rigid and able to withstand a large tensile force. This will ensure reliable fastening of the structure with floor slabs.

For the device of jumpers and structural rigidity, a transverse profile is used. In the bearing profile there are notches for the joint, and on the transverse profile there are hooks. The hook and cutout (notch) form a reliable lock when connected.

Important to remember! There must be an angle of 90 degrees between the carrier and the transverse profile. Check this condition with a building corner.

At the wall, the hook of the transverse profile can be cut off so that it lies on the shelf of the wall corner. After assembling all the elements of the frame, you can proceed to the installation of lighting wiring.

Installation of fixtures

Before starting work, make sure that all electrical communications (wires) do not have bare ends and are laid in protective corrugated pipes.

This precaution will prevent possible electrical shock and short circuits in the wiring. Run the electrical wiring to the locations of the lighting devices. At the connection points of the fixtures, the corrugation is cut, and the wire is pulled out in a loop.

Often use raster daylight fixtures. Their size of 600 x 600 mm allows them to lie precisely on the shelves of the carrier and cross profile.

In addition, daylight is remarkably scattered throughout the room thanks to large mirror reflectors. For lighting, you can use recessed spotlights. To do this, carefully cut a hole in the decorative ceiling panel equal to the diameter of the lighting device.

Armstrong suspended ceiling spotlights have mounting springs. They are squeezed out and the device is installed in the hole, after which it is smoothly released. Springs press the lamp against the panel.

Installation of ceiling panels

When the lighting fixtures are installed and connected, the false ceiling cells are filled with decorative panels. If necessary, they are cut to size using a pencil, a ruler and a construction or clerical knife. If metal panels are used, they are cut with a grinder.

One of the ways to improve the interior is often chosen suspended ceiling type "Armstrong". Its design is based on metal profiles. They are easy to assemble for rooms of any size. When they are installed, minimal time is spent, the amount of construction debris and waste from the installation process is obtained. Most often, these ceilings are installed in office premises. The frame made of profiles is convenient for mounting and fastening air conditioners, lamps and other electrical equipment.

At the same time, it is reinforced with brackets of a special design. The standard bracket is made of two parts, which are threaded through an elastic clip. It combines these parts and allows, by moving the parts together, to select within certain limits the distance between the ceiling slab and the false ceiling. But if necessary, other technical solutions for suspensions can be applied, for example, sections of a chain, a metal cable, etc.

The recommended step for the installation of metal profiles is 60 cm. As a result, square openings are obtained - cells with a side of 60 cm, which are filled either with decorative tiles or used to install a lamp. The recommended minimum distance to the ceiling plate is 200 mm. This distance must be chosen if the dimensions of the luminaire correspond to the size of the cell 60 x 60 (cm). Luminaires and decorative tiles during installation are threaded through the cells in the direction from the bottom up. If the distance to the ceiling plate is less than the specified one, they will rest against the ceiling plate and most likely they will not be able to be installed in the cell without damage. Before installing the lamp, its decorative part and the lamps under it are removed in order to reduce the size and prevent damage to these elements.

Prior to installation, it is necessary to provide for the fastening of the connecting wires to the luminaire in accordance with its design. It is possible that after its fastening in the cell, it will be either difficult or impossible to connect the wires. Small-sized lighting fixtures cut into a decorative plate and are installed with it. Its strength is quite enough to withstand the weight of lighting fixtures with energy-saving and LED lamps. But if the distance to the lamps from the workplaces is too large due to the height of the ceiling plate, even taking into account the false ceiling, you can use the suspended structure of the lamp with its fastening to the ceiling plate and passing through the decorative tile.

Best combined with the ceiling type "Armstrong". The recommended pitch of the profiles that form the cells is specially chosen for one of the standards for the length of the bulb of these lamps. The Armstrong type ceiling light fits perfectly into the cell without the need to cut and fit anything. The connection is made according to the design of the terminals in the luminaire, which can either clamp the stripped wire with a screw, or contact it with a self-grip.

When installing with standard wires or cables, it is recommended to adhere to the accepted color designations:

  • neutral wire connected to the blue terminal (N);
  • phase wire connected to the terminal (L), white with red;
  • ground wire - green with yellow.

Sometimes the fixtures are connected to each other in turn, since the current strength in fluorescent and LED lamps is small. It is convenient to connect the electrical wiring cable from the switchboard to the nearest lamp. In this case, a stranded copper wire is used. Pieces of the required length are cut from it. For serial connection of terminals in adjacent fixtures, the ends of the two segments are stripped of insulation and twisted securely. For this, it is recommended

  • straighten the veins in the form of a flat panicle,
  • attach the wires parallel to each other with panicles in one direction,
  • twist the strands with your fingers and turn them in the direction around the wires for twisting.

After that, the twist is clamped in the terminal. In order for the contacts to remain reliable for a long time, the wires should not be stretched. Therefore, during installation, it is necessary to choose their length correctly. And so that the ceiling does not sag over time under the weight of the lamp in the four corners of the cell, it is always fastened to the ceiling plate with brackets or other load-bearing elements.

The main disadvantage of fluorescent lamps is the presence of mercury inside them, the vapors of which are deadly to humans.

But technologies do not stand still, their active development has led to the creation of LED lamps, which have surpassed fluorescent lamps in almost all respects. Currently, their only drawback is the cost in comparison with fluorescent lamps, but in terms of the sum of all the characteristics and benefits, and most importantly for safety reasons, they are unrivaled.

It is not profitable to replace old fluorescent lamps entirely with similar LED ones., even if only economically, best to just replace the bulbs, after all, manufacturers have long been producing T8 tubular LED lamps for the G13 base and you can install them, leaving the old lamp body, only slightly upgrading it.

To put LED lamps instead of fluorescent, you need to slightly modify the lamp, make it easier by removing a few unnecessary components from the wiring diagram. Now I will show in detail how easy it is to do it yourself.

First of all, let's look at schemes of standard raster fixtures designed for the installation of four fluorescent lamps, these are most often mounted in ceilings, such as "Armstrong".

There are only two varieties, two different schemes, the first with a ballast and a starter, is most common:

The second circuit is more modern, with an electronic ballast:

In modern tubular LED lamps, in particular T8 under the g13 base, the driver necessary for the LEDs to burn is already built into the lamp body itself and nothing else needs to be installed.

Respectively, alteration of any fluorescent lamp, comes down to the dismantling of all unnecessary equipment: ballast, starter, epra, etc. and connecting power directly to the contacts of the LED lamp. For both types of fixtures, the connection diagram is common, all green conductors on the diagram, we connect to the neutral wire, and all red to the phase, it should turn out something like this:

Wiring diagram for LED lamps instead of fluorescent

And once again, everything is quite simple, on the one hand, a phase is supplied to the llamas, and on the other, zero. In this case, the polarity is not important, since an alternating current is connected, connect it in the way that is more convenient for you. In addition, it does not matter which of the contact pins the electrical wire is connected to, because each pair of them, on each side of the LED lamp, is closed.

In the case of reworking a raster fluorescent lamp, we simply take the wires that come from the g13 bases and cut them, and then we connect all the wires of one side to the phase terminal, and all the wires of the other, to zero. As a result, you should get something like the following scheme for installing led lamps instead of fluorescent lamps:

As you can see, the technology is simple , you do not need to have any special education to convert to LED lamps, for example, all fluorescent lamps in the office, in production or in a store.

By the way, how to mount and connect a fluorescent lamp, and most importantly, how to install T8 tubular lamps - we wrote in the article "Connecting a fluorescent lamp"

As a result of this rework, you get a new, modern LED lamp, safe, low energy consumption and long service life.

remember, that old fluorescent lamps cannot simply be thrown away or, worse, simply broken, they must be disposed of because they contain mercury. There are centers in every major city where you can donate your energy-saving lamps, often for free.
