Content

For those who like to make various crafts, there are many ways to make a vase with your own hands from ordinary bottles. Master classes allow you to decorate things even for beginners. What can be used in bottle design? Use the instructions below to create a unique vase at home.

How to make a glass bottle vase

To make a vase from a bottle with your own hands, you first need to create a base by cutting off the neck. You can leave the blank and so, but then the bouquet will not fit in it. If you do not have a cutting tool at hand, to remove the neck you will need:

  • 0.5 m thick woolen thread;
  • matches or a lighter;
  • container with water;
  • solvent in the form of gasoline, acetone, kerosene or alcohol;
  • gloves with goggles for safety;
  • sharpening block or sandpaper.

To cut off the neck, use the following instructions:

  1. Mark a line on the bottle along which you will cut the neck.
  2. Soak the thread with solvent.
  3. Wrap the marked line 3 times with a thread.
  4. Holding the bottle horizontally, set fire to the thread.
  5. After the thread burns out, quickly lower the bottle into cold water - the glass will burst from a sharp change in temperature at the place of heating.
  6. Treat chips with a bar or sandpaper.

In decoupage technique

Today it is very fashionable in different countries to decorate bottles using decoupage technique. Its essence lies in gluing a pattern on the surface and then fixing it with varnish. Decoupage of the vase takes place in the following order:

  1. Degrease the surface of the bottle with alcohol.
  2. Cover the glass blank with white primer or acrylic paint of the same color in one layer. You can use paint to match the napkin.
  3. When the paint dries, apply PVA glue with the next layer.
  4. Apply a napkin or its cut out part. Sponge, brush or sponge, smooth from the center to the contours.
  5. Mask too noticeable contours with paint using a sponge or brush.
  6. Finish the details, glue on rhinestones or beads, or look for a painting tutorial.
  7. Cover with 2-3 layers of varnish.

Dot painting

Spot painting bottles requires tools such as:

  • acrylic paints;
  • thin marker;
  • gold or silver outline on glass;
  • cotton buds or cotton wool with matches;
  • brushes, preferably synthetic.

To paint a homemade vase, you can choose any pattern - flowers, tree branches, an intricate pattern, children's cartoon characters or, for example, a peacock. To apply them to your bottle, follow the instructions:

  1. Degrease the surface with alcohol.
  2. Sketch on paper a sketch of a peacock, its tail - make the details richer, emphasize the beauty of the bird.
  3. With a felt-tip pen, transfer the drawing to the bottle, outline it on the glass, holding the tube at an angle, like a pencil or pen. Don't press it too hard to avoid blobs.
  4. Let the sketch dry, remove the remnants of the felt-tip pen with a cotton swab.
  5. Start filling the space of the drawing with dots of paint, making them in different sizes and colors. It is desirable that some kind of pattern can be traced. Start painting with the bird's body.
  6. In the same technique, complete the tail and wings. In feathers, leave an empty central part.
  7. Glue a glass ball into the middle of each feather or fill the space with beads. The peacock is ready.

Decorated with ribbons

Mother-of-pearl ribbons are another idea for decorating a bottle vase. The simplest option involves just a few steps:

  1. Applying glue to a small area of the bottle. Use a special composition for decoupage or PVA.
  2. Wrapping the workpiece with ribbon or threads, and both a plain vase and a colored one look beautiful. You can also take any width. Wind the tape or thread tightly - so that there is no gap.

The finished vase can be left as it is or decorated with beads with bows, and also supplemented with kanzashi technique - accessories in the form of flowers from the same ribbons. Wrap the bottle either horizontally or obliquely. In addition, a beautiful design is gluing the tape in the form of a kind of pigtail - when the ends cross in one direction for evenness of the pattern.

How to make a vase from a plastic bottle

Vases can be made from plastic bottles: take standard or large five-liter ones. Any size and shape will fit. For the simplest option, you only need a bottle, scissors and a clerical knife:

Openwork

An openwork vase is unusual and original. For such crafts from plastic bottles you will need:

  • empty plastic bottle;
  • marker;
  • dye;
  • a nail on a wooden base or an ordinary metal one.

To create an openwork vase, use the following step-by-step instructions:

  1. Cut off the neck of the bottle, apply the pattern you need with a marker. It is not necessary to make only round holes - chaotic ones look no less beautiful and unique.
  2. Heat a nail or soldering iron and make holes according to the picture. The main thing - do not connect the holes, so as not to get big holes.
  3. Paint the vase with a spray can or stained glass paints.
  4. Pour water and put flowers - the vase is ready.

floor

A simple, but at the same time very original version of a floor vase made of plastic bottles and a glass jar will perfectly fit into the interior. The height of the finished product is about 95 cm. This thing is easy to wash, because the hand passes freely inside. Here's what you need to make such a vase:

  • napkins, toilet paper;
  • PVA glue, adhesive tape;
  • 14 plastic milk bottles;
  • 3 liter jar.

Having collected all these simple materials, proceed to the manufacture of the vase itself:

  1. Fasten the bottles in pairs with adhesive tape - 12 pieces bottom to bottom, and 2 - necks.
  2. Connect with tape - put a pair connected by necks in the center, and place the remaining 6 pairs in a circle.
  3. Place a 3-liter jar on top, attach it with tape to the base.
  4. Next, decorate the vase using the papier-mâché technique - make the first layer from napkins and undiluted PVA, and the second from toilet paper with the same glue, only half diluted with water.
  5. Leave the product to dry, repair the irregularities with napkins.
  6. Make a pattern with a glue gun, glue flowers or other accessories with it.
  7. Apply an additional pattern using a stencil, napkin and putty.
  8. After applying the putty, remove the napkin immediately.
  9. Dry 1-2 hours.
  10. Go over the pattern with sandpaper.
  11. Paint everything with spray paint.

small vases

To make small vases, you will need plastic bottles and a few more materials and tools:

  • scissors;
  • stationery knife;
  • tape or glue.

The instructions for making such vases are very simple:

  1. Rinse the bottles, cut off the necks and cut the top into petals.
  2. Bend the petals outward and attach them to the bottle itself with glue or tape.
  3. Paint the finished vases with any colors, complement the decor with beads, beads or other accessories. At the bottom you can make holes for water to flow out, but then you need a stand.

Photo of original bottle vases

In addition to the above methods of making and decorating handmade vases, there are many more interesting decor options. The drawing can be applied using a stencil from ordinary electrical tape, as shown in the photo - you get a bottle with intricate stripes, both in one direction and in different ones. For children, a good fine motor training will be vases decorated with improvised bulk materials or pasta, pebbles or shells. In cases of wrapping with satin ribbons, the option of using a rope instead looks very bold.

Creating handmade original products is a very exciting activity for everyone. And in the process of decorating a home interior, you should definitely include products made with your own hands among the decor elements.

Thus, you can decorate your corner in an original way, as well as save the cost of buying such items that are currently not cheap.

An interesting element in the interior is a vase. But how to make a vase with your own hands so that it brings harmony and beauty to the interior?

Creating and decorating a vase

The most important thing is that the future handmade element fits well into the interior of the house or apartment, so that it does not stand out as superfluous. The design should take place in one shade, and the result should be the big picture.

Photos of vases that can be seen on the Internet are of various shapes and styles.

In modern times, there is a wide variety of styles in the interior.

Before you start creating a vase, you should consider and analyze each interior style, and understand how to emphasize the originality of this style with a vase made by yourself.

Choosing a vase for the style of the interior

Minimalist style. Choose concise and modest forms, the color shades of which are not saturated and restrained; The finish of the vase should be neat.

Classicism style. Symmetrical patterns and drawings are quite suitable here. Preference is given to light shades, and drawings of traditional colors that take place in the design of the entire interior.

Hi-tech style. The most modern materials are used to create a vase. It can be glass, and metal, and wood, and steel. Shapes and finishes are also variable, can have a bizarre and unusual character.

Kitsch style. Strict rules are not needed here, but, on the contrary, preference should be given to refined and non-standard elements. You can combine everything, even the most incompatible with each other. Colors should be saturated. You can also decorate a vase with bright colors and non-standard decor.

Modern style. Abstraction and the use of lines smoothly merging into each other - that's the piquant moment of creating such a vase. Decoupage of a vase is most often created on the basis of materials such as wood and metal.

Avant-garde style. Here you need a rich imagination and creative thoughts in the process. Bright, saturated colors and unusual patterns will be in place;

A beautiful vase in the interior not only complements a certain style, but also speaks of the perfect taste of the owners of the house or apartment, and also pleases the eyes of all guests.

Size and properties of the vase

Ideas on how to decorate a vase are very diverse and everyone is different from each other. But first you need to decide on the size of the future decor element.

The width of the future vase can be different, and, basically, it depends on the personal tastes and preferences of everyone.

Sometimes the width of the vase depends on the style in which the vase is made, as well as on the style of the interior for which it was selected.

Note!

If the vase is outdoor, then its height should vary between 40 and 100 centimeters. The vase does not have to be on the floor, in most cases it can be placed on a bedside table or on a table.

But on bedside tables and tables, the vase looks beautiful when its size is not so huge. A vase with large dimensions is best placed on the floor, and put beautiful flowers in it.

The material from which you are going to build a vase should also be taken carefully. After that comes the choice of the form of the product. The form can be variable, and is selected at the discretion of the person himself.

The main thing is to turn on full fantasy and harmonize the form with the style of the interior.

vase shapes

The most popular forms that appear in the works of famous interior designers are:

Note!

Rounded shapes. Such forms are suitable for absolutely any style of interior, and it is easy to make it using the papier-mâché technique, taking an ordinary bottle as a basis.

Square shapes. Modern interior styles will harmonize well with such an element of decor. A cardboard box is taken as the basis;

Triangular shapes. The method using newspaper tubes is best suited here. This type of vase looks individual and luxurious;

After the base of the vase is made reliably and beautifully, you can already proceed to external decoration. Various decoration methods are applied at this stage.

Many initially cover the vase with paint or varnish. And then you can create handmade patterns on the vase, or attach some shapes or stickers.

You can decorate the finished vase by putting beautiful flowers, berries, branches, and everything else in it.

Note!

DIY vase photo

Do not throw away empty jars made of glass and tin - you can make a lot of beautiful things from glass jars that will come in handy in the apartment, in the country, during the holidays. A beautiful do-it-yourself jar decor can be made from the simplest materials: burlap, rope, twine, narrow ribbons, buttons, newspaper tubes, and even salt. With a little work and patience, you can make a vase, a container for forks and spoons, a fabulous-looking candlestick, and wicker dishes from glass and tin cans. We suggest you take advantage of the master classes and try to make decor for the kitchen with your own hands.

Decorate glass jars and coffee jars with burlap, twine, and any ribbon or lace - this is our first master class. Let's make a vase or a candlestick for a candle. Can be used to store small things in the kitchen.

For work you will need:

  1. Glass jar.
  2. Burlap (gray and white).
  3. Leg-split.
  4. A little lace (can be crocheted).
  5. Beads or small buttons.
  6. Clay Moment or "hot gun".

First you need to remove the label with hot water and a sponge and wash the jar well. Let it dry and start decorating. We cut off a rectangular piece from the burlap, apply glue to the jar in several places, and glue the burlap.

Glue a strip of white burlap or a piece of lace onto a gray fabric.

We make flowers of different sizes from twine, twisting and fixing with glue.

Glue these twine flowers onto burlap.

This is how it looks like:

Then we paste paper flowers, bows, pieces of lace on these twisted flowers. We fill the free space with beads or small buttons.

We glue burlap and lace on the neck of a glass jar, beads or buttons on top.

That's all. We use it as a vase, or as a candlestick for any candle.

We all often buy food in cans: cucumbers, baby food, tomato paste, and so on. From empty tin cans, you can make an excellent decoration of cans with your own hands: a vase for the kitchen, a stand for spoons and forks, a pencil organizer. If you use a simple twine, and any available glue.

Apply glue to the surface of the jar.

We twist the twine in a spiral, pressing harder so that the turns are close to each other.

This is how we decorate. And if there are two cans - even better.

From one tin you can make a vase by gluing a ribbon on top, and from another, using the same twine and coffee, you can make a spoon stand.

Decorating jars with newspaper tubes

Now many are fond of weaving from the "newspaper vine". Let's try using newspaper tubes or white paper tubes to decorate a coffee can. Do you know what weaving is? Let's start with the basics.

There are 4 types of weaving: a single rod, layered weaving, square, and “rope”.

  • Single rod - racks are braided with single rods, layered with a wall - all around.
  • Layered weaving - weaving with several rods, simultaneously for several racks. Moreover, they are directed as follows: the 1st rod - for the 1st rack, the 2nd - for the 2nd, the 3rd - for the 3rd, and so on. When the circle ends, then each tube goes to the next column - until the end of the entire bundle of tubes. Next comes a new similar layer, the ends are hidden inside the work.
  • Square weaving - the tube goes through 2 risers behind the 3rd until 10 cm remains until the end of the tube. We weave the 2nd tube on the right side of the 2nd riser. Working through 2 risers, we bring the end of the tube out, and so on. Weave such “square” rows to the desired height.
  • "Rope" - the tubes not only wrap around the risers, but also intersect with each other. “Rope” happens in 2,3,4, and so on - tubes.

Let's try to weave a small vase from a glass jar. To get started, a very simple tutorial. The tubes are usually twisted with the help of knitting needles (we take a newspaper, put the knitting needle on the corner, and twist it, then remove the knitting needle). Weave "rope".

For work you will need:

  1. Cardboard.
  2. PVA glue.
  3. Scissors.
  4. Newspaper tubes.
  5. Acrylic paint.
  6. Water based varnish.
  7. Sponge or brush.

Cut out 2 circles from cardboard according to the diameter of your coffee can. On one circle with a pencil, draw notches at an equal distance of 2 cm from each other. There will be 17 tubes.

Glue the tubes and pour a little glue on top. We cover the top with a second circle, and put some kind of load - in order to better stick.

This is what the bottom should look like:

We bend the tube-racks up. Each tube must be brought under the next, and then up.

Weave in 2 tubes with a “string”.

We fix the racks on the bank with clothespins, so that it is more convenient to weave. We braid the bank.

We weave to the top of the jar, and finish the work in the form of a chain.

This is what the top looks like:

Another glass jar decoration. Just as in the first case, you can braid a glass jar under a planter. That is, with the help of newspaper tubes, you can decorate a kitchen or a room with such a basket-planter.

Weave in the way that is convenient for you. We do the bottom in the same way as the first master class. We make handles from rings and wire:

The product can be painted with any paint, but if you want to make a vintage version, then paint in a monochrome way: the basket is painted gray, and then applied on top with a sponge with white paint.

Such a simple and affordable decor for jars - candlesticks of extraordinary beauty made from ordinary sea salt!

For work you will need:

  1. Glass jars.
  2. Sea salt.
  3. Food dye.
  4. PVA glue.
  5. Sequins, paints, fragments of broken Christmas decorations, etc.

Pour salt into a bowl, mix with dye. Now colored salt is sold in stores - this one does not need to be painted.

We smear the jar with PVA glue.

We pour our beautiful salt into a bowl and roll the jar in the resulting composition.

Such a candlestick dries out in a few hours. If there is varnish in a spray can, you can walk on top, but not necessarily.

A vase with your own hands can be an excellent interior decoration and a good gift. Large vases are used as interior decor, creating a special mood in the room and emphasizing the overall style. Small and neat vases of different shades and textures will be a nice decoration for a table, shelf, chest of drawers. Vases can be supplemented with fresh flowers, dry herbs, branches. What vases you can decorate your home with and how to make them with your own hands, we will tell in the article.

From different materials

Creating a harmonious interior is a very important point in the decoration of each home. In any room, the walls should be combined with the floor and with the furniture, creating an overall interior style. Small details - pillows, floor vases, lamps, candlesticks, books - complement the interior, making the house cozy. It is important not only the combination of colors, but also shapes, textures, materials. Tall vases visually stretch the space. Large and narrow vases on the floor "raise" the ceilings.

It must be remembered that disproportionate to the living space, too voluminous and massive vases, on the contrary, hide the area and "weight" the interior.

Glass and transparent vases are best filled with something or painted on the outside, so they will not be lost against the background of the rest of the interior. Colored and textured vases will add a touch of variety and set off plain walls. Clay and embossed flowerpots will give the interior an “antiquity” style.

Vases can be made both from natural material and from used items and things (bottles, cans, various cardboard and plastic packaging). You can also give a "new life" to old vases that do not fit into the new interior. It is worth stocking up on paint, brushes, stencils, a glue gun, twine, accessories and showing a little imagination.

Practical people who like to use even unnecessary items for good use will need a master class on a vase from a plastic bottle. With your own hands, you can create a beautiful interior item from such a simple material.

First you need to prepare the following materials and tools:

  • plastic bottle;
  • a soldering iron or a hot nail fixed on a wooden base;
  • paint (preferably in a spray can);
  • newspapers;
  • marker.

Working process:

  1. Apply an abstract pattern to the surface of the bottle with a marker;
  1. With a heated soldering iron or a nail, make holes according to the intended pattern (you should get an openwork mesh, it is better not to burn holes close to each other);
  1. Burn the bottle in a circle (you can make uneven edges) and remove the unnecessary upper part;

  1. Having spread newspapers or other unnecessary material, paint a vase from a spray can;

  1. Let the paint dry.

Such a vase can be used for its intended purpose - to put flowers in it. For greater stability and aesthetics, it is better to choose bottles with a straight, rather than a embossed bottom. From above, the vase can be decorated with ribbons, beads and other materials.

Another option is to glue the bottle with cardboard tubes. Get a stylish vase.

It is necessary to prepare:

  • plastic bottle (volume not less than 1 liter);
  • cardboard narrow tubes the length of a bottle or more;
  • double-sided tape (wide);
  • scissors;
  • laces or ribbons for decoration.

Note. Tubes from paper or cling film are well suited. It will take about 20 pieces.

Working process:

  1. Cut off the neck of the bottle so that the total height of the bottle is slightly less than the length of the tubes;
  1. Paste the bottle in a circle with adhesive tape in 2-3 places;

  1. Glue the tubes in a circle to the adhesive tape;

  1. Decorate the resulting vase with laces or ribbons (you can also paint the tubes with paint).

It is easy to paint a plastic bottle with acrylic paints. You can get very pretty vases.

Any jar or bottle made of glass or plastic will be transformed by paper decorations. The vessel can be pasted over with paper strips or quilling elements, as well as “dressed” in wrapping, colored or lace paper.

From thin paper pages (for example, newspapers) you can weave a decorative vase.

You will need paper long tubes, glue, paint or stain and varnish for wooden surfaces.

You need to start weaving from the bottom, guided by the scheme. For convenience, the tubes can be pre-glued so as not to be glued on the product itself. Upon completion of the work, the vase should be painted and varnished.

An interesting vase will turn out from cardboard and paper strips. You will need:

  • cardboard tube (available at a hardware store);
  • cardboard;
  • PVA glue;
  • scissors;
  • drywall knife;
  • old newspapers or magazines;
  • spray paint;
  • beads or beans, peas;

Working process:

  1. Cut a piece of pipe of the desired length with a knife (you can pre-mark the line);

  1. Cut a cardboard circle along the diameter of the pipe and glue the bottom;
  1. Make many stripes from newspapers and magazines and twist them into tight spirals according to the quilling principle;

  1. Glue the spirals to the pipe, trying to occupy all the space;

  1. Fill the gaps between the spirals with peas or beads (glue);

  1. Paint a vase from a spray can;

  1. To “age” a vase, apply dark paint in a thick layer and, without waiting for it to dry, remove excess paint with a rag or sponge (the paint should remain in the slots of the spirals);

  1. If desired, also "gild" the vase;

  1. Coat with two coats of varnish and leave to dry completely.

The result was an original vase in ethnic style.

From a jar of almost any size, you can get an interesting vase. It is convenient to paint glass with acrylic paints with a brush or using a stencil. The jar can be decorated with fabric, ribbons, paper, stickers, twine. In addition to glass jars, tin cans from coffee, as well as cardboard ones, for example, from chips, are also suitable as a vase.

Interesting vases can be made from food, such as pasta or zucchini. For a “pasta” vase, it is enough to choose the appropriate form of pasta (shells, flowers, tubules) and paste them over any vessel suitable for the role of a vase. Better to use a glue gun. At the end of the work, paint the vase with paint, for example, golden.

A vase of zucchini or pumpkin requires some skill in artistic cutting. However, everyone can try to cut a simple pattern. The main thing is not to overdo it, so as not to cut through the zucchini.

Video on the topic of the article

You can see how to make a vase from different materials in a selection of videos.

If you recently made repairs at home, then there is always a bunch of unnecessary garbage and our advice: do not rush to throw it into the garbage chute, in this pile you can always stumble upon objects that will be useful in inventing fakes - these can be various design details and various decorations for your home. Most often, unnecessary items are the remaining pipes that no one needs, from which you can invent a beautiful designer vase. There are several methods for reproducing our vase.

So, first consider the types of vases made of plastic pipes.

Mounting

We will decorate with the help of unnecessary nylon stockings.

But before using the stockings, we will get acquainted with the creation of the silhouette of a vase using plastic pipes. It would be great if these pipes were designed for sewerage. They fit perfectly in shape and material.

Now let's move on to the manual, which will describe the sequence of work and actions:

Composite decoration for a vase

The sequence of actions is practically no different from the first version of the creation of the invention, but there is still a slight difference and it lies in the fact that the methods of decoration are different.

Now let's move on to the very process of inventing a vase using this method:

  1. We put on the pipes, which we also prepare, as in the first version, hosiery on both sides so that a small empty gap remains in the middle of the pipe.
  2. We apply a small amount of PVA glue to this empty gap so that it is smeared over the entire area.
  3. Now we pour cereals of any type on this smeared gap, depending on your imagination.
  4. Let's wait until the glue hardens, and attach the pipe sections to each other and paint them in different colors, depending on your wishes.

At this stage, we finish making a vase using cereals.

Making a vase from a metal alloy pipe

If you still have an unnecessary metal pipe, whose edges are cut evenly, then it will come in handy for creating our crafts. If the pipe has an edge, then it is perfect for us because you do not need to create a stand for the vase, it will be ready right away.

Using this type of pipe, we will get acquainted with the technique of its creation through the following steps:

  1. To begin with, we will take a roll of ordinary cheap toilet paper and glue our pipe in a circle so that there are no empty gaps. Small wrinkles are allowed.
  2. Now we need black paint, and with it we paint the pipe in two layers, to give it a natural look.
  3. Next, take the powder with the effect of the powder and apply it with gentle movements over the black paint.
  4. For special beauty, you can decorate a vase with beads or beads.
  5. With the help of mounting foam, we create the bottom of our product. We make it this way: we put the craft on a plastic stand and we put the foam jet in a vertical position. After waiting until the foam dries, it is allowed to paint the bottom with spray paint of any color.

Take note! We can embellish the edges of our beautiful vase with a welding device by welding them a little. The result is beautiful metallic lace.

I hope you understand that it will not be possible to place fresh flowers in this type of vase in the way that they require water, and it will not work to pour it into such a craft, but do not be discouraged, it is perfect for placing dry or inanimate flowers of various varieties in it. In it, they will look aesthetically pleasing and tasteful.

Making a vase from a cardboard product

If during the repair you ordered the right amount of linoleum to your home, then we note that a cardboard tube is placed inside each such roll so that it does not wrinkle and disperse. But for the end result,

you just need to show a little of your imagination.
