At the same time, it should be noted that there are quite a lot of printed publications on this topic.

Selecting the source material

The harmonious arrangement of garden furniture, a successful combination with other objects of the surrounding design largely depends on the material of their manufacture. Most often, wood is recommended as the main material. Branches, rods, logs and trunks become excellent raw materials for the manufacture of unique products.

However, not only wood can dominate the choice of materials for the manufacture of garden furniture. You can do the thing yourself using concrete blocks, metal. Even old car tires can become the raw material for making original things.

Overview of basic and additional materials

The choice of the basis is, first of all, the work of imagination, the desire to try to translate into reality the options for extraordinary solutions for outdoor improvement. When deciding what garden furniture can be made of, they take into account the factor of general style, practicality.

Using certain materials, you can determine the subsequent finish. The type of base is largely determining for additional elements selected in accordance with the main material. Many, given this fact, receive excellent specimens of garden furniture of their own production.

Production of garden furniture from concrete blocks. They can make a good durable table, and patterned tiles are best suited as a finish.

Making products from flexible tree branches. Such material attracts when you want to get the original shape of chairs, original varieties of rocking chairs and exclusive tables. Such furniture is usually placed under a canopy. It perfectly contributes to a comfortable rest during the summer heat.

Use of metal bases as starting material. When determining options for deciding what kind of garden furniture can be made, it is often thought that it should be such that it will last a long time.

Of course, metal is primarily high strength. In this, the tree is much inferior to him. But the work itself with such raw materials is more complicated. Sometimes you have to resort to welding. In other cases, bolts and an anchor serve as connecting parts. Additional elements are duralumin or steel pipes of various sections (rectangular, square or round).

Note!

Benefit from improvised means

As mentioned earlier, homemade furniture can even be made from improvised means. These may be the remnants of raw materials after repair work, used and voluminous items that have become unusable.

The use of pallets, car tires, wooden cable reels fits well here. Successful garden furniture crafts and instructions for their implementation often involve the use of the simplest and at the same time unusual items.

Note!

You can hide from the bustle of the city, fully relax or spend time in a cozy atmosphere with your family in the country. At the same time, I want to impress guests not only with beautiful flower beds, an abundance of berries and vegetables, but also with comfort. Do-it-yourself furniture for a summer residence is something that will not leave indifferent either the household or the guests. Of course, the modern market is replete with an abundance of pieces of furniture, but not everyone can afford them. And if you want to create an original design, while investing your soul in interior items, then making your own country furniture is the only right decision.

The best material for the manufacture of furniture for summer cottages is wood. It is easy to process, and the appearance remains original and natural even without additional finishing work. But the main advantage of wood in furniture production is its environmental friendliness. After varnishing, decorating by firing or artificial aging, wooden furniture becomes real masterpieces. Having shown imagination and adding decorations from ribbons, flowers and other plants to the interior, you can get a cozy summer cottage for a comfortable stay.

Wood can be combined with other materials. The most common options are stone and metal. Also, it should be noted an alternative version of wood products - wicker furniture. But only professionals can make such beauty with their own hands.

To ensure the quality of manufactured furniture, you need to know the secrets of choosing a material and the nuances of working with wood. The technology of assembling country furniture with your own hands is also important.

So, in order not to get a number of troubles later, you should follow these rules:

  • The most durable wood species, which are preferred by craftsmen for the manufacture of country furniture, are oak and beech;
  • When using softwood blanks, they must be further processed. This is due to the fact that the needles are a resinous tree. If you do not get rid of the resins, then the products will be sticky for a very long time. Otherwise, pine is an excellent material for country furniture;
  • Teak is one of the best options for creating furniture. The wood is so good that it is even used in shipbuilding. Teak is resistant to moisture, and the appearance of finished items has an original pattern;
  • To make furniture easier, it is better to buy already sawn bars, slats, boards and other elements;
  • Very often, logs or massive stumps are used to make garden furniture, and as a result they get their own small corner of nature;
  • If you ventured to make wicker country furniture, then for this purpose it is better to use bird cherry branches. Due to their softness and suppleness, the weaving process is simplified.

With your own hands, you can make furniture for the cottage from improvised materials. Their list is quite large. Finished projects can be seen in the photo on the Internet - products from logs, stumps, metal-plastic pipes, barrels, tires, plastic bottles and other things. Let us now pay attention to the tools that may be needed in the manufacture of country furniture with our own hands. It is necessary to prepare:

  • A tool for sawing wooden elements - a hacksaw or an electric jigsaw;
  • Drill with a set of drills on wood of different diameters;
  • Screwdriver;
  • A set for measuring and marking - tape measure, marker or pencil, square with a right angle;
  • Joiner's glue;
  • A set of sandpaper with varying degrees of grit or grinder;
  • fasteners;
  • Set of wrenches;
  • A hammer;
  • Impregnation, primer and paints and varnishes for protection and finishing of wooden structures.

Step-by-step instruction

Do-it-yourself country furniture is made according to certain rules. First, you need to draw up a plan that contains the layout and dimensions of the structure. Ideally, if the interior of the room in which the manufactured item will be placed, together with other elements, is preliminarily drawn. After the drawings are ready, proceed to the preparation of the material. According to the calculations, they acquire the required number of wooden elements, from which blanks for furniture are made. General requirements for parts:

  • Details must be ground and all joints are cleaned;
  • Be sure to check the dimensions and compliance with each other of the same elements.

If you mean decorative processing of furniture with your own hands, then on some elements it can be done in advance. If the experience with wood is small, then experts recommend pre-training on unnecessary details. Suitable scraps remaining after cutting pieces of furniture. The production of each type of furniture has its own characteristics. Below are step-by-step instructions with a detailed description of the most common furniture designs for a country interior.

Table

An indispensable element of furniture is a dining table in the country. To make it, you need to purchase the following materials:

  • Wood for the countertop - boards with a thickness of at least 3 cm. It is such a board that is able to withstand the load exerted on the countertop. The length of the boards depends on the dimensions of the countertop. Most often it is 150-200 cm. Ideally, the width should be 30 cm;
  • For the legs, wooden blocks with a section of 50 by 50 mm are suitable. Length from 70 to 80 cm;
  • Additionally, wooden boards 8 cm wide and 2 cm thick are used for connections and supports.

After the material is acquired, we proceed to the direct execution of work:

  1. The prepared elements must be cleaned and polished until all irregularities and microcracks disappear. Do this with a grinder or sandpaper. The material must be processed from all sides, including the ends of the workpieces. On the details for the legs we cut off the chamfers.
  2. The next step is to assemble the countertop. Here you need to follow a few steps: making a frame for the countertop. Thanks to it, the design will be more stable. A rectangular frame is assembled from four boards, the dimensions of which depend on the dimensions of the future countertop. In any case, the dimensions of the frame should be 20-25 cm smaller than the tabletop itself. To assemble the frame, the boards are installed on the edge at a right angle to each other and connected by means of a tie with self-tapping screws 50 mm long. After the frame is assembled, proceed to the installation of the transverse slats. There should be 6 such crossbars. We mark the location of the transverse slats. In the marked places, we drill holes for fasteners. We process the ends of the planks with PVA glue and fix them with self-tapping screws, which go deep 2-3 mm deep into the prepared holes. Be sure to ensure that the crossbars are located strictly perpendicular to the frame. The blanks for the countertop are laid out on a flat surface face down. The assembled frame is placed on top in such a way that all the cross members fit snugly against the tabletop. Next, we prepare holes in the transverse strips with a depth of no more than 30 mm and connect all the elements with screws of the same length. The number of screws for each bar is at least 6 pieces;
  3. Leg attachment. Each leg is installed in the corner of the tabletop frame and fixed from the inside with metal corners. From the outside of the frame, holes for self-tapping screws are again drilled. For more reliable fastening, that part of the leg that is adjacent to the frame is coated with PVA glue;
  4. Finishing work. After all installation work is completed, the table is installed on the legs and the worktop finishing according to the intended design begins. For example, you can round the corners and edges of the countertop, chamfer and clean it. If chips or scratches are formed during the work, they are sealed with putty on wood, and then sanded. Finishing is the coating of the product with stain and several layers of varnish.

Ottoman

An ottoman for a summer residence can also be made of wood. But a product made from improvised materials, for example, plastic bottles, will be no worse.

The following materials are required for work:

  • Plastic containers of the same shape with a volume of 1.5-2 liters in the amount of 40 pieces;
  • Thick cardboard sheets;
  • foam blanks;
  • Wide tape;
  • Upholstery fabric.

What form the ottoman will be made of, we provide the artist's choice. It can be rectangular, square, round, oval. Options for do-it-yourself ottomans are shown in the photo.

Let's take an example of a round piece of furniture. We perform the actions in the following order:

  • It is necessary to connect the bottles starting from the center. We put one bottle and gradually attach new ones in a circle with adhesive tape;
  • We proceed to the pattern of two circles from cardboard. The bottom circle is cut out with a larger diameter than the top one. And the top one should be the same size as a blank from plastic bottles;
  • We attach cardboard circles to the blank from bottles with adhesive tape in several layers;
  • We pass to the lining of the ottoman. To do this, cut out blanks from foam rubber identical to cardboard circles. Then we glue the foam rubber to the cardboard;
  • From the upholstery we cut out a rectangle with which the side part of the blank will be sheathed, and two circles for the upper and lower parts of the pouffe;
  • We sew a cover from the prepared parts of the upholstery. At the bottom of the cover we sew a zipper along the diameter. We dress the finished cover on the workpiece and get a beautiful ottoman.

Armchair

The next element of the interior - an armchair - we will try to make from tires. Almost any furniture can be assembled from tires, and it will be functional and comfortable. It won't take long to complete the work. We provide a general scheme for arranging a chair from tires with your own hands, which, if desired, can be improved to your taste. Many different furniture options can be seen in the photo.

The execution scheme consists of the following steps:

  • We connect two identical tires together, laying them on top of each other, using self-tapping screws and a screwdriver. From the inside of one of the tires we carry out screwing;
  • We sheathe the lower part of the structure with felt, which is cut to the size of the tire. Thanks to the felt, the chair will be easier to move around the floor. Fastening is carried out using a stapler. If desired, you can screw the legs;
  • The next stage is the construction of the back of the chair. To complete this part, you will need flexible plywood, from which you can bend a figure of the required shape. We attach the formed back with self-tapping screws to the blank from the tires. The distance between the fasteners should not exceed 15 cm;
  • We turn to the refinement of the structure. To do this, fill the void in the tires with foam rubber. We also make a pattern for the seat and back of the chair from this material. Prepared patterns are attached for strength at several points with a construction stapler;
  • At the final stage, a cover is constructed from any upholstery fabric and put on a chair. To give more convenience, padding from synthetic winterizer can be sewn into the cover.

Hammock

Usually a hammock is constructed from a grid. Let's give an example of how to make a hammock in the country with your own hands using a tarp. To implement this idea, you need:

  • Tarpaulin or other durable fabric measuring 2.5 m by 0.8 m;
  • Eyelets in the amount of 22 pieces;
  • Two metal rings;
  • Two wooden bars with a section of 30 mm by 50 mm, a length equal to the width of the finished hammock.

Step-by-step instructions on how to make a hammock with your own hands:

  • At the prepared canvas, it is necessary to process the edges with a sewing machine. Moreover, we tuck the edges 3 cm along the length and 6 cm along the width, tucking the fabric twice;
  • Next, we proceed to the installation of eyelets. The places of their fastening are initially marked. They should be at the same distance from each other along the width of the hammock. 11 eyelets are mounted on each side. To begin with, small holes are cut in the intended places, and then eyelets are inserted;
  • At the next stage, using a strong rope, we fasten the canvas to the bars. We thread the rope into the holes of the eyelets and braid around the wooden bar;
  • We stretch the rope with the grip of the bar and connect them by pulling the ends through the metal ring. We make sure that the fastening is secure.

The hammock is ready to use. It remains to find a suitable place in the garden and attach the rings between two trees. You can also independently mount supports for attaching a hammock.

Chairs

You can make chairs for giving with your own hands from improvised materials - stumps, barrels, tires and other things. But we will present instructions for making a classic wooden stool. To complete the work, you need to stock up:

  • 4 bars with a cross section of 40 cm by 40 cm;
  • 8 sticks 40 cm by 20 cm;
  • A blank for sitting with parameters 35 cm by 35 cm. It can be purchased ready-made, or it can be built from two parts of the board. An alternative would be thick plywood or chipboard.
  • We make legs from bars with a section of 40 × 40. Pre-grind, clean, cut chamfers. The standard leg length is 42 cm;
  • From smaller blocks we make crossbars measuring 21 cm each;
  • After that, we proceed to the assembly of the frame. We attach the crossbars to the legs in two places - at the level of the upper edge of the leg and at the level of 15 cm from the previous crossbar. Fastening must be carried out using self-tapping screws;
  • We attach a blank for sitting to the finished frame. You can mount directly to the legs, and close the attachment points with special pads;
  • Finished with final sanding and painting.

Summing up, it should be noted that creativity knows no boundaries. Taking advantage of the variety of photos on the Internet, it will not be difficult to develop schemes and implement any projects for the manufacture of country furniture. It all depends on the desire and flight of fancy.

Chair seat treatment

Today, garden furniture is the most indispensable attribute of any country house, where there is at least a tiny piece of land under the canopy of trees. After all, what kind of vacation can there be without a barbecue area with a table and chairs in the fresh air and an afternoon nap without a hammock or a comfortable sunbed? And if you approach this issue creatively, you will not only be able to organize an ideal vacation, but also get a lot of pleasure from creating pieces of furniture with your own hands.

Garden furniture will always help to create a unique, one might even say exclusive style at the summer cottage and at the same time add an atmosphere of comfort, peace and home warmth. The modern market is simply replete with incredible options for various furniture, ranging from the simplest hammocks to tables, swings, "corners" and even entire sets. The only caveat is that it costs a lot of money and such waste is not always justified.

But you can go the other way - to make original pieces of necessary furniture with your own hands, moreover, from improvised materials and simply junk things, which often no one even pays attention to. For this, large financial costs will not be needed, but if you are smart, put your hands on it and turn on your imagination, then the arrangement of a summer cottage will bring satisfaction, special comfort and coziness to the entire recreation area.

1. Wooden garden furniture

Outdoor furniture made of wood enjoys the greatest success among lovers of outdoor recreation. This is an environmentally friendly natural material that is available in any region at an affordable price, but if you are smart, then it’s completely free.

Moreover, wood-shaving materials do not have to be bought specifically for these purposes, because after construction, every summer resident has a lot of scraps of boards, timber, or, at worst, there are logs for the firebox - in this case, everything will fit.

The only thing to keep in mind is that not all types of wood are suitable for outdoor furniture, but almost everything will go for indoor use.

For example, site experts advise abandoning raw materials from birch or pine, because this material is very sensitive to external factors. For these purposes, oak, hornbeam, beech or ash wood is ideal, because they are quite hard, very durable and easy to care for.

If you are not deprived of taste and creative imagination, and also have an idea about joinery or carpentry, then you can even attach tree branches, their stumps, roots, parts of trunks in combination with concrete blocks or metal structures.

When working with this kind of material, do not forget that if you properly prepare and process raw materials with special means (to extend the service life), then such masterpieces will help create a unique design that will ideally be in harmony with the surrounding landscape and delight the eye and soul for more than one year. .

2. Pallet garden furniture

Perhaps the most unlimited space for the realization of any fantastic dream allows you to fulfill the most ordinary building pallets.

Their wooden frame serves as an ideal basis for creating pieces of furniture, both for the street and for decorating the interior of the country house itself.

Considering that pallets act as ready-made elements of the designer and are an ideal basis for creating quite functional and practical pieces of furniture, therefore, special skills are not required when working with them.

You just need to decide on the model, carefully carry out the preparatory work and correctly assemble the far-fetched model, showing all your imagination. How to work with this kind of raw materials was previously reported on the pages of the site, so we will not repeat ourselves, but simply provide the opportunity to see the most interesting options for furniture designs.

3. Practical furniture from various types of barrels

Another interesting idea that is just perfect for arranging a garden area, as well as for the interior space of a country house, is the manufacture of furniture from various barrels.

As a rule, this kind of container is available at every dacha or takes up a lot of space in the garage, but even if there are none, their purchase will not cost much. And given the fact that the furniture created with your own hands is absolutely unique and original, while it will always meet your tastes and preferences, you won’t be left in the loser at all.

For the purpose of creating exclusive models of furniture, both metal and wooden barrels are suitable, here everyone is free to choose what he likes. But the methods of work, the tool and the assembly process vary, because each material requires a special approach.

To work with metal containers, you will need: the barrels themselves (preferably of different sizes), a hacksaw for working on metal, a grinder, all kinds of fasteners, nuts, bolts, metal corners, paint, anti-corrosion primer, as well as wood, plastic, textile and other materials that will serve as additional accessories.

If you decide to use wooden barrels, then you will additionally need: a planer, self-tapping screws, hinges, timber, a drill and special impregnation for wood.

Naturally, in both cases, one cannot do without basic skills in working with tools and elementary knowledge of technological processes. Well, the rest will tell your imagination and creativity.

4. Wicker garden furniture

Weaving is one of the oldest ways of making furniture, requiring skills, perseverance, and knowledge of the technology of harvesting raw materials. Most of the original interior items in our region are made from willow twigs, bird cherry, alder, raspberry, hazel and rattan.

If you still decide to create original and very elegant furniture using these materials, then take into account your capabilities and experience. Those who are just taking the first steps in this direction should not overestimate their capabilities and take on large and complex models. To avoid a lot of mistakes, disappointments and loss of raw materials, you need to start small, mastering the necessary skills, and only then start making real masterpieces.

Another important nuance, with all the advantages of products - environmental friendliness, aesthetics, mobility, special radiated heat, durability, we should not forget about the minuses. Given that this kind of furniture is very afraid of moisture and direct sunlight, you need to think about their location and be sure to have a place where to move and store them after rest.

5. Garden furniture from junk items and objects

Enthusiastic people, accustomed to creating masterpieces from the most unexpected things, have already come up with a lot of ideas that they have brought to life, turning tires, boxes of any materials, huge coils for electrical cables, car parts, suitcases and even very frank rubbish into the necessary interior decorations.

There are no special recommendations in this matter, only your creativity, desire, inspiration and possession of elementary skills in working with the instrument. The following original products will help you choose the right direction and bring the most fantastic ideas to life with your own hands.

All enthusiastic summer residents want to make their suburban recreation area more attractive and comfortable, while without much loss for the family budget. And one of the ideal options for making the dream of your own pond, lake and even a fountain with a waterfall come true is to create a water feature from old tires.

Spending a lot of money on arranging a dacha is not always a desire and opportunity.

But this does not mean at all that the desire to have a cozy personal plot should be completely abandoned.

The way out of the decision is to make stylish garden furniture, which will definitely become a decoration of the dacha.

1. New life for old barrels

DIY garden furniture from barrels.

Metal furniture will serve faithfully for many years. You just need to cut the barrel with a grinder and put a comfortable mattress inside it. To make barrel furniture look spectacular, paint it in a bright color. Also, the paint will help prevent corrosion of the metal.

2. From democratic pallets

Pallets as material for garden furniture.

Pallets are one of the most useful materials. Even a person who does not have carpentry skills can make garden furniture out of them with their own hands. They are easy to cut, and ordinary nails will help to fasten furniture elements together.

3. Wood is always in fashion

Wooden garden furniture.

If wooden construction is being carried out at the dacha, then it will not be difficult to find several parts of logs. You can also use regular stumps. Do not forget to treat the wood with protective compounds so that future furniture will last a long time.

4. For motorists and not only

Tire furniture.

Old car tires are a durable material for garden furniture, which is not afraid of rain or sunshine. But the problem arises - how to fill the free space inside the tire? Make many holes in the rubber and thread a bright cord through them. Thus, it will turn out to make not only chairs, but also a coffee table.

5. Wooden furniture for a penny

Wooden furniture in the country.

After the annual pruning of trees, many branches remain. It is easy to make garden furniture from them with your own hands. Use nails to fasten branches.

6. Foam blocks can be beautiful

Spectacular bench made of foam blocks.

Foam blocks are a unique material for crafts due to their strength and reliability. For example, it is easy to make legs for garden furniture from foam blocks. A long board is used as a seat. If you don’t like the gray color of the foam blocks, then paint them in any bright shade.

7. Shelves in the country are also needed

Decoration for a country fence.

Often the garden fence is empty, not adding to the aesthetics of the countryside atmosphere. This vertical space can be rationally used. Just hang wooden boxes on the fence and place flower pots in them. Also, the resulting shelves are convenient to use for storing various necessary little things.

8. A fresh take on granny chairs

Unusual bench made of chairs.

A few oddly shaped old chairs that are still sturdy can be a shame to throw away. Then make an unusual bench out of them. Remove the seats and replace them with several long boards, connecting the seats together.

9. Universal PVC pipes in the country

Chairs made of plastic pipes.

Plastic pipes are a durable and lightweight material that is easy to assemble and, if necessary, disassemble. Special fittings are used to fasten pipe segments to each other. Also, one pipe can be inserted with its free end into a hole of a suitable size drilled in another.

10. Don't Throw Away Plastic Bottles

Simple bottle furniture.

Plastic bottles are a waste material, from which, despite its cheapness, you can make a lot of useful things. For example, do-it-yourself garden furniture. Just tie bottles closed with caps, ropes or fasten with transparent tape. If the resulting design seems not aesthetically pleasing enough, then cover it with a blanket. Textile covers for furniture will also help to disguise plastic.

11. Cozy armchair from a drawer

Bright country chair.

The plastic box is easy to find. From it, cutting out one of the side parts, it will turn out to make an unusual chair. To make it comfortable, put some large pillows and a colorful blanket in it.

12. Original coffee table

Coffee table from a cable reel.

Cable reels - a ready-made coffee table, stable and reliable. If the spool looks too boring in its original form, draw patterns on it with bright colors. So that the table can stand outdoors for a long time, varnish the wood or impregnate it with a protective compound.

13. Convenient storage system instead of a chest of drawers

Plastic dresser in the country.

A dacha is a traditional place for the accumulation of various little things, necessary and not very necessary. Finding a suitable chest of drawers with many drawers can be problematic. Then make a functional storage system out of plastic bottles. Just glue them together, after cutting off one of the side walls.

14. From the bathroom - to the cottage

Sofa from an old bath.

An old bathtub that you don't want to restore can be given new life in the form of an extravagant sofa. But to cut the metal along the desired contour, you have to work a little. To do this, you need to use the grinder. To make the sofa comfortable, put a small mattress in a cover and pillows in it.

15. Ottoman or table?

Do-it-yourself garden furniture from a car tire.

The basis of a pretty table, which can also be used as an ottoman, is an old car tire. It is pasted over with twine in a circle, abundantly smeared with “liquid nails” building glue. It remains only to attach the legs, for example, from an old table or stool. But if you wish, you can do without them.

16. Universal gabions

Garden furniture from gabions.

Gabions - metal nets that are most often filled with stones - are widely used in construction. From them it will turn out to make beautiful garden furniture with your own hands. By the way, it is not necessary to use only stones to fill gabions. You can also use wood.

Furniture is an essential attribute of any home. Everything is clear when it comes to an apartment or a house in the city. Most often, finished products are purchased, the design of which is selected for the overall interior. But with regard to giving, you can be creative by making furniture with your own hands. What can be used for this? The possible options for materials and designs will be discussed in the article.

Furniture types

The dacha is used differently depending on the season. For example, in warm money, you don’t want to sit indoors, but there is a desire to enjoy the weather and communicate with nature. In the cold season, there is a desire to sit near a fireplace or other appliance and enjoy the warmth. Depending on where the furniture will be located and how it will be used, it can be divided into two large groups:

  • portable;
  • stationary.

The first option is intended for use in the garden or on terraces. It can be removed if necessary. Because of this, the design of such furniture should be as light and easy to handle as possible. At the same time, the frame must have good strength to support the weight of a person. Stationary furniture is used in the main rooms, which include the bedroom, kitchen, hallway and living room. It can also be handmade from wood or bought from a factory.

Do-it-yourself production

There is no limit to what material can be used to make DIY furniture. Usually in the country there are many different things that have not been used for a long time, but may be suitable for building furniture. The main requirement is the environmental friendliness of the material, if we are talking about frequent interaction with it. You can launch:

  • wooden boxes;
  • pallets or pallets;
  • old tires;
  • vine branches;
  • curtains made of durable fabric;
  • durable nicks for knitting.

This list can be supplemented independently by examining all available means.

tables

The table is one of the most indispensable pieces of furniture that should be present in any room. Usually several are required: one of them can be in the living room, another on the terrace, and the third in the kitchen. Each one can be crafted with creativity. One of the options is shown in the photo below.

For the whole process, you will need only two old tires from the car. If they are not available, then it is easy to find them at a neighbor's or in a landfill. Usually the owners do not know what to do with them. Before use, it is necessary to give them a pleasant appearance. First, they should be washed well with various detergents. The next step is spray painting. To do this, the surface is well degreased with a suitable solvent. To prevent the tires from sliding off one another, it is necessary to fix them on top of each other. To do this, you can use ordinary screws or bolts with washers and nuts. On top, you can lay glass with a thickness of 5 mm or any suitable material.

Above is another variation of tire furniture for summer cottages. The design is identical to the previous one, but some additions have been made. One of them is the presence of legs. With them, the design looks neater. Instead of painting, tire furniture is covered with twine. This will require ordinary glue and patience. The lid is also covered with a rope.

An excellent basis for furniture can serve as various kinds of wooden coils that were once used for cable or cable. Working with them will not be as easy as with tires, because all such bases for furniture are several times larger. If the coil is in good condition, then no major changes will be required. An example of the design can be seen in the photo above. The lower support part is cut off to make it easier to put your feet. The tabletop is cleaned and polished. It can be covered with some kind of varnish or a circle of MDF or remnants of the countertop can be fixed on top. Chairs can be made in the same style.

Pallets are a universal basis for any furniture that you can make yourself. Above is a variant of a mobile table, which is assembled from a pallet. You will need a base of low height. It can be cut to size or used as available. Below, another part of the pallet with a greater height is attached, or legs are assembled from scraps of the board. Wheels are attached to the bottom for ease of movement. To give the structure a presentable appearance, it must be well sanded and painted.

Chairs

The table will be irrelevant if there are no chairs next to it. There are a huge number of options for how they can be made. One of them is pictured above. The basis for such a piece of furniture is a frame from an old folding chair. You can use old leather belts or thick threads for consumption. They wrap around the frame, as seen in the example.

This is another version of a chair or, rather, a bench. Two or three people can fit on it without much difficulty. The photo shows that the basis for such a shop are old chairs. Usually at such furniture the buttock quickly wears out. Replace it with an ordinary edged board. It is laid end-to-end and fixed with self-tapping screws or wire to the base. You can paint the design in any desired color.

The simplest version of the chairs does not even require any carpentry skills. It is enough to properly use the trunk of a cut tree. It is cut into several pieces. Chocks that have a diameter of 40 cm or more are suitable. They are stable enough to serve as a piece of furniture. Both ends are cut in parallel. A small pillow is placed on the upper part, as shown above, or a piece of foam rubber, which is covered with fabric. The latter is fixed to the wood by means of a construction stapler.

If the house has old barrels that are no longer used, then they can be used for furniture needs. In order for the furniture to have a pleasant appearance, it is necessary to sand the surface of the barrel well. An eccentric sander is perfect for this purpose. Barrels for furniture are cleaned to white wood. After that, a cut is made almost half, as can be seen in the photo. The side walls should not be touched, because they will serve as handrails for future chairs. The next step is painting or varnishing the barrel. In order for it to withstand the weight of a person, it is necessary to make spacers inside the structure. Next, the back and seat trims are mounted.

Sofas

No piece of furniture is complete without a sofa. It is also easy to do it yourself. For such furniture, several pallets will serve as an excellent basis. To build such a piece of furniture, you need 10 whole pallets. Six of them are paired together. One is installed on top of the other. These will be the seats. Four more pallets are used as backrests, which are installed vertically and fixed to paired pallets.

The modules of such a piece of furniture can be combined with each other or left as is to make it easier to move them. For greater convenience of such furniture, it is necessary to make it soft. To do this, you need a fabric that is sheathed with foam rubber. From it you can make covers that are filled with any other suitable material. Pillows can be purchased ready-made and sew pillowcases on them from the same fabric as the seats.

The height of such a sofa may not be enough. To make the furniture have a higher level, it is enough to add additional pallets, as shown in the photo above.

Using the principle of this furniture design, you can make a whole soft corner in several levels. This design will be ideal for watching TV or movies together. Such furniture can be a recreation area. The resulting shelves can be used to store books and other accessories, as seen in the photo above.

You can assemble such furniture not only from pallets, but also from scraps of boards that may have already been stale in the country. As you can see in the photo above, the basis for the sofa are two large boxes, which are assembled from edged boards. Handrails are typesetting from scraps. As a backrest, several planks of the same board are used as for the boxes. The furniture is additionally reinforced with lintels that are inside the boxes. A video on making a sofa for a summer residence is below.

Bed

No cottage can do without a bed. It can also be made using pallets. Efforts for this will take less than for the sofa. The photo above shows an example of such a piece of furniture. Three pallets are connected to each other. One of them is cut into two parts. More time will be required for sanding and painting pallets for furniture. As a soft part, a regular orthopedic mattress is used. So that he does not sag in certain places. You can cover the top of the bed with some sheet material.

Instead of a night light, you can use the furniture itself. To do this, an LED strip or garlands are placed in the space that is available in the pallet. When you turn on such a night light, it will not hit your eyes, but it will well illuminate the way to the door.
