Homemade desk lamp for the computer. Table lamps with their own hands. How to make a children's table lamp. Lamp from an old vase - fresh ideas

Lighting devices in the apartment should provide two types of lighting: bright and subdued. Chandeliers mounted on the ceiling usually cope with bright lighting. But what to do in the case when you need to increase the access of light when working at a desk or when reading a book before going to bed? This is where a table lamp comes in handy. The advantage of such a device is that it does not illuminate the entire room, but only a certain area, without disturbing the rest of the family.

Figure 1. Scheme of the device of a table lamp.

Today, consumers are offered a wide variety of lamps, but you can make them yourself. In order to assemble the lamp with your own hands, you do not need to be a professional electrician. A great desire and minimal skills will allow you to decorate an apartment with an original and functional piece of furniture. For the manufacture of lighting fixtures, you can use the following methods.

Original table lamp made of bars

Handmade has always been valued by gourmet lovers. Now it is very popular, which means that any hand-made item will take its rightful place in the interior of an apartment, for example, an original lamp made of wooden beams (Fig. 1).

The following accessories are required for the manufacture of the device:

  • hacksaw;
  • screwdriver;
  • drill;
  • bolt with wing nut;
  • can of gilded paint;
  • 3 wooden blocks (1 long and 2 short);
  • set for electricians (cord, light bulb, cartridge, plug).

Figure 2. Sconce connection diagram.

In order to make a lamp, first of all, it is necessary to saw off 3 bars with a hacksaw. Their length can be any, but the condition must be observed: the first bar must be larger, and the other two must be shorter and of the same length.

Then a hole is drilled at the ends of the short bars at an equal distance from the edge. Two of the same holes must be made in a long bar: in the middle - for the bolt, and in the upper part - for the power cord. Removing the first hole from the edge will determine the angle of the lamp. When the holes for the bolt are prepared, the short bars are pressed parallel to the long one, and the whole structure is fastened with a bolt with a wing nut.

To give the device an attractive look, the cord and cartridge must be treated with spray paint. When the paint dries, the cord is threaded through the top hole in the long bar, and the cartridge is mounted on it. A plug is attached to the other end of the cord. The lamp is ready. Its laconic but unusual design will successfully decorate your desktop.

Table lamps with homemade lampshades

If an old and useless table lamp is lying around in the pantry, you can give it a second life by making a fashionable lampshade. Such items combine elegant chic and a touch of glamour, and they are extremely easy to make. In addition, you can achieve the desired degree of illumination.

For example, a lamp made of dense fabric will give a soft and diffused light, due to which it can be used as a night sconce (Fig. 2). If threads are used for the lampshade, the lamp can be used to illuminate the work surface.

To make a lamp with soft light, you will need:

  • old lamp with lampshade;
  • matte paint, matching the color of the interior of the room;
  • soft dense fabric (chintz, satin, etc.);
  • paper stencil in the form of a circle with a diameter of 10 cm;
  • glue gun.

First of all, it is necessary to prepare strips of 10 cm wide from the fabric, then cut them into identical squares. To cover the lampshade, you will need at least 200 squares. After that, circles must be cut out of each square using a stencil.

In order for the lamp to match the interior design as much as possible, the old lampshade can be painted with paint. If you apply the dye with uneven strokes, the lamp will look more original. While the paint dries, parts for creating a lampshade should be made from rag circles.

Each detail should be shaped like a badminton bag or shuttlecock. To give the part this shape, the center of the circle must be smeared with glue with a glue gun, and then gather the sides of the circle in the center and squeeze them.

When the paint dries, the base of the prepared parts is smeared with glue and applied to the lampshade. You can glue rag rounds either tightly or a little looser. It depends on the intensity of lighting. In order to create an additional decoration for the lamp, the edges of the flounces can be sprinkled with golden or silver paint.

Lamp with a lampshade made of dense threads

To make a lampshade, you will need threads, PVA glue and a balloon.

You can create an unusual table lamp or floor lamp from dense threads. For work you will need the following items and materials:

  • old lamp without lampshade;
  • balloon;
  • PVA glue;
  • saucer for glue;
  • thick cotton threads of the desired color.

The algorithm of work is extremely simple. First of all, you need to inflate the balloon and tie the hole tightly so that the balloon does not deflate. Then a small amount of glue is poured into the saucer. The threads can be cut into pieces or a single thread can be used by unwinding it from the bobbin.

The main task is to tightly wrap the ball with threads, leaving space at the bottom in order to then pull out the unnecessary ball. The threads are lowered into the glue, then gently wrapped around the ball. The coils should fit snugly against each other. You can completely cover the ball with thread or leave gaps. For strength, a ball already covered with threads can be additionally smeared with a layer of glue.

Then the product is left to dry completely: usually it takes at least 8-10 hours. When the glue is dry, blow off the balloon and pull it out of the resulting structure. A very light and elegant lampshade is put on the base of the lamp. If desired, the lampshade can be decorated with paper butterflies, beads, glass beads or braid.

Unusual lamp from old photographic films

Lapma from photographic films will perfectly fit into the interior in retro style.

You can create an even more unusual lamp using old photographic films. Such a lighting device will successfully fit into the design of a retro style, and into the interior of a room in modern style. For work you will need to prepare:

  • base for the lamp;
  • well-bending wire for the manufacture of the frame;
  • a sheet of thick matte paper;
  • glossy glue for decorative work;
  • old photo or film;
  • centimeter;
  • scissors;
  • glue brush.

Work must begin with the manufacture of a frame for a lampshade.

As a stencil, you can use any object in the shape of a parallelepiped, for example, a cardboard box. Then the end parts of the frame should be pasted over with thick paper.

After that, it is necessary to measure the height of the frame and cut the strips of photographic film into pieces corresponding to it. Then the frame is well coated with decoupage glue. Film strips are applied to the paper and held for some time to "seize". Film can be applied both vertically and horizontally. In the second case, it is possible to see the images. In addition, you can get creative with the design and place the films either on each side at different angles, or diagonally.

Then you need to give the product time to dry. Especially carefully you need to ensure that all corners and ends of the films are glued. After the glue dries, the frame is smeared with adhesive again (already on top of the film). When everything is completely dry, the lampshade must be put on the base. The lamp is ready, it will perfectly decorate the interior of the apartment.

If you are tired of boring and monotonous things in your apartment that you see every day, then it's time to diversify the design with the help of hand made. A DIY table lamp is a great option to get you started. It does not require special skills and efforts, and the result often exceeds expectations. In this article we will tell you how to make a table lamp with your own hands, how to decorate it and how to connect it correctly. We have also prepared an excellent selection of photos for your inspiration for creativity.

DIY table lamp: the main structural elements

The most popular and simple materials for creating a table lamp with your own hands are: cardboard, paper, glass bottles, cans, plastic containers, water pipes and cement. We will tell you how to make a lamp out of all this material.

The main structural elements in a table lamp of any type:

  • Electromechanical - provides stability to a homemade table lamp and a safe power supply directly to the lamp.
  • Reference - supports a reflector or illuminator.
  • Illuminator - a light bulb in a lampshade.

The wiring diagram of a table lamp is quite simple: a mains plug, a cable, a switch, a light bulb holder. Sometimes a voltage regulator is added. The cartridge for the narrow E14 minion base is also mounted on a thread or on a lamella in the form of a steel strip. For a do-it-yourself table lamp, the best option is chandelier cartridges with captive threaded flanges: between them you can clamp a steel faceplate with a lampshade frame or a clamp for mounting on a hinge.

A do-it-yourself table lamp must be electrically safe. This is especially true for lamps on hinges and consoles. You can create the safety of a table lamp using a simple scheme:

  1. The cable must be round, double insulated
  2. The conductors of the cable are flexible, made of numerous wires.
    The cross section lived from 0.35 sq. mm.
  3. Cable entry points must be protected by dense dielectrics.
  4. Before entering the cable, the cable is tied in a knot or pulled through the holes of the dielectric fixing washer so that it cannot be torn. The next step is finishing and decorating.

Original lampshade for a table lamp with your own hands

The lampshade must be made taking into account not only the aesthetic aspect, but also the practical one. It is important to fix it correctly, as well as make a convenient hole for the light bulb. Paper, plastic and thread are the materials most often used to make a homemade lampshade.

The simplest and most convenient material is paper. To create such a lampshade, in addition to paper, you will need: threads, PVA glue, a sewing needle and scissors. There are many ways to make a lampshade for a table lamp with your own hands out of paper. The simplest method is to collect a ball of paper strips on the ceiling, while gluing them together and at the poles. The shape in the form of a sphere will additionally strengthen the fragile lampshade made of paper.

It is also elementary to make a lampshade from disposable plastic cups, which are fastened with a stapler. This lampshade has quite good lighting characteristics, but at the same time the view is quite utilitarian. Such a lampshade is well suited for rooms in which high-quality lighting is necessary, but an aesthetic appearance is not required.

When making a lampshade from threads, you will need at least 100 m. It makes no sense to use balloons as mandrels, because after 10-20 turns the ball will begin to bulge in different directions and ruin the shape. It is best to use a tightly inflated, durable ball for the mandrel. The mandrel must be lubricated with Vaseline. Next, pre-lubricated with glue, wind the thread around the ball. When winding, do not forget to leave a hole for the cable and cartridge. After a day, you need to blow off the mandrel, which, thanks to the Vaseline, will not stick to the threads. Also, the threads can be replaced with jute, sisal or propylene twine.

These lampshades form an even soft light and therefore are perfect for any room.

How to update a lampshade for a table lamp with your own hands

Old, tired, worn and burnt lampshades can be easily updated with the help of improvised means or even create a new one. We will tell you how to do it correctly and beautifully. As materials, you can take any textiles. Using fabrics and threads, you can sew or knit a lampshade in the form of a dress. It is easy to decorate a table lamp shade with your own hands using: buttons, stickers, butterflies, beads, flowers and various braids.

If you want to create an original lampshade from improvised means, then there are a lot of ways. To create such a lampshade, you can use: lids from tins, disposable tableware, your favorite pictures from a photo album, paper with drawings, or just a lampshade decorated with your own hands.

It is enough to turn on your imagination and you will get an original lamp in the interior of your house or apartment. In the photo below, see a selection of lampshade options for a table lamp with your own hands.

A table lamp, of course, can be bought in a store, but it is far from always possible to find exactly what you need, especially if you want no one else to have the same one. However, this lighting fixture is not so complicated, and if you wish, you can make a table lamp with your own hands, which will significantly save money. And in any case, a home-made lamp will be exclusive, and it will be much more pleasant to use it, because a piece of your soul is invested in the product.

In this article we will tell you how to make a table lamp with your own hands.

To make a table lamp with your own hands, you will need:

  • 2.5 meters of two-core cable (in our case, in a transparent sheath)
  • chuck with switch
  • incandescent lamp (it is desirable to choose a lamp of an unusual shape)
  • board 50×100 mm (dimensions may vary, it all depends on the size of the lamp)
  • flange with hole for ¾-inch pipe
  • 100mm tubing with ¾" threads
  • adapter from ¾ to 1 inch

How to make a table lamp

Saw a board with a section of 50 × 100 mm into 4 pieces of the desired length. In our case, the length of the segments was 220 mm. Planks can be stained or painted in the desired color. Glue the boards with wood glue and fix them with clamps.

Assemble the flange, pipe and adapter together. Metal parts can be painted or left as is.

Drill a hole in the bottom of the back wall of the wood base. The hole diameter is selected according to the cable section.

Pull the cable through the base and metal post

Connect the cable to the socket with the switch. Insert the cartridge into the adapter and fix it there. To do this, simply press on the cartridge, and it will fit tightly into the adapter.

Where to begin?

Of course, first you need to think about the design, but we will return to this issue a little later. In the meantime, let's decide how to make a table lamp from what we have at hand. We will use the following elements and devices:

The basis for the lamp (this can be a piece of plywood or a DVD disc);

Frame from an old lampshade;

Tube (it can be any);

Various adhesive compositions;

A piece of cable;

Decorations for the base;

Switch, plug, cartridge;

The material from which we will prepare the lampshade;

Aerosol paint.

Table lamp diagram

The classic table lamp consists of several parts. Firstly, this is the base, the column and. In this capacity, it is quite possible to use a glass ceiling or a lampshade, for example, made of fabric. There is a switch that is located on the power cord or on the base itself, sometimes it is mounted on the base. Depending on the purpose of the lamp, it can have a different design:

  1. A classic lamp that is used to illuminate the workplace. The diffuser here is a glass shade or a textile lampshade.
  2. The device on a clamp fastens to a table. The column of such a lamp is flexible, that is, you can tilt it as you like. Plafond - an opaque socket that focuses light in one direction. As a light source, a conventional or LED is used.
  3. A dimmer lamp is the ability to adjust the brightness of the light source.

We embody ideas

So, we have prepared the details from which the simplest do-it-yourself are made. Now we take glue, a base and a tube and glue them together, for example, using paper or an old newspaper. Yes, do not forget to make a hole in the base - then the cord will come out through it. We let the designs dry, after which we begin to decorate our pipe.

To do this, we use anything: beads, buttons, beads, bows, figures from kinder surprises and much, much more. Thanks to such original and at the same time simple decorations, your lamp will look very non-standard, which means there will be an opportunity to transform the interior. The very last task is to cover the lamp with paint. It is best to choose formulations that will not contain toxins, as well as those that dry quickly. After the device has dried, you can start making a lampshade.

Lamp from an old vase - fresh ideas

To create with your own hands, it is not at all necessary to look for some design ideas or strive for effect. It is enough just to take an old vase and make a lighting fixture based on it. So you immediately kill two birds with one stone: on the one hand, give new life to an old thing, and on the other, decorate your home with something unusual.

So, we need the following components of the future device: an old vase, a cartridge from an old lamp with a holder or a holder, for example, from a cork. As a base, a piece of foam into which the reinforcement is inserted will also do. It must be thoroughly filled with epoxy resin, not forgetting to comply with safety rules, since this composition emits harmful substances. A structure is created from the prepared materials, which is inserted into an old vase. Now it's up to the small - to make a lampshade.

Lampshade - the crown of business

Probably, the basis for creating a lamp can be anything. But with the help of a lampshade, you can change the appearance of the lighting fixture at least every day. In addition, this element is created easily and simply, and again from the materials at hand. You can design in a variety of styles, but it is important that the hand-made table lamps are in harmony with the surrounding space. What way to create a lampshade to choose?

Firstly, the best option is to make a ceiling from the same wallpaper that the room is pasted over. To do this, we take the wallpaper and cut off a strip with a width slightly larger than the width of the lampshade. Then you need to carefully glue it to the lampshade, while it is important not to break it or wrinkle it. We give time to dry, after which you can safely put the product on the lamp.

Secondly, the fabric lampshade is popular. It is very simple to make it, and if you want, you can always remove it and replace it with another variety. Such a lampshade is created according to the same scheme as above.

Children - all the best

As you already understood, in order to create a table lamp, it is not at all necessary to be a generator of ideas and thoughts. It is enough just to show imagination. Modern children's table lamps are bright in design, but you can change their look a little and make them more interesting. For example, those who know how to handle fabric can make an original patchwork lampshade. In addition, this technique can be implemented in a slightly different way, for example, make the base for the lamp from children's toys - cubes, puzzles, or decorate the lampshade with toys from kinder surprises.

For a girly version, you can use more romantic patterns and decorative elements. For example, a lampshade, richly decorated with satin ribbons, bows, beautiful buttons or an interesting appliqué, will definitely appeal to cheerful fashionistas.

original designs

Now let's look at how unusual a table lamp can be. With your own hands (the photo confirms this), you can make it very, very catchy, spectacular and memorable. For example, if you have an old globe, then it is quite possible to adapt it to the original shape of the lamp. By the way, this can be safely given to avid travelers - they will definitely appreciate it.

But needlewomen probably have a huge number of balls of threads of various colors. You can knit a beautiful and bright cover and put it on a lampshade. Or you can simply complement the fabric dome with original knitted ornaments. Such a lamp will give the room coziness and create a favorable atmosphere for pastime.

Many will laugh, but for the sake of originality, you can use almost everything. For example, plastic dishes in the form of forks, cups, spoons, sticks, umbrellas for cocktails. To create a non-standard lampshade, we need a balloon, on which we will glue all this plastic and cheap stuff with glue. By the way, if you wish, you can paint it with acrylic compositions - so your lamp will shine with new colors and will look very original!

What is the result?

Thus, there are a lot of ideas for creating a table lamp at home. Choose the method that suits you best in terms of style and design. After all, fresh ideas in the interior are the easiest way to update it. And this method is also beneficial, since you can create original lighting fixtures from what is in your pantry.
