Bright flickering lights of candles create a magical atmosphere and help to move into a winter fairy tale. And from the candlesticks made by hand it breathes warmth and comfort. Here we have collected some interesting ideas for their manufacture.

Provence-style candlesticks look unusual. They can be easily made from glass cups, and natural materials: cones, cinnamon and birch bark. When burning a candle, cinnamon will emit a delicate aroma, filling the house with warmth and comfort.

Find some cones and decorate glass jars with them, inside which you will place candles. After sprinkling with glue, sprinkle all this magic with artificial snow.

The photo below shows a master class on making a candlestick decorated with nuts. Nuts and small Christmas balls are glued onto the base ring with a glue gun. In this case, it is necessary to leave space for candles. The product is covered with silver paint.

It looks very unusual from the birch bark decor.

If you have paints for painting on glass, then decorating a small glass jar with them, you will get a magical candlestick that will not hide the flickering of the candle.

New Year's candlesticks in the form will appeal to the kids. Let the little artists decorate the cookies themselves. Such decor will become real.

Another option is to knit a New Year's outfit for glass jars.

If you collect water in a small jar, partially fill it with decorative elements, you get an unusual unusual.

Magical and very delicate candlesticks can be made from lace.

You will need:

  • balloon,
  • glue;
  • lace.

Inflate the balloon, cover up to half with lace and leave to dry. When the fabric hardens, pierce the ball with a needle or simply pull it down, the lace will retain its shape. Be careful when placing the candle inside so that the flame does not light the candlestick. From a security point of view, a more acceptable option is to glue a glass glass with lace.

The magical aroma of the holiday will scatter around the apartment if you place a lit candle inside an orange peel.

If you can find small logs, they also make great bases for playful lights.

Candles are a great decoration for the New Year's table. They will help create coziness and a festive atmosphere, emphasize the solemnity of the moment. We offer you some ideas for the original decoration of candles for the New Year. They will certainly appeal to those who do not have time to prepare something special, but take care of the table setting and do not want to give up beauty.

We will consider one of the most beautiful and popular types of installation of New Year's candles - turning a glass into a candlestick with your own hands. It will take you no more than ten minutes to create this craft. The most important thing is to decide on the desired decor, and then it's up to the small.

What will we need?

  • any glasses or wine glasses
  • beautiful tray or plate
  • small Christmas decorations or any other New Year's decor
  • wide candles with a flat bottom

The idea of such a decor is especially good when you have a lot of scattered glasses. To create candlesticks, it is not at all necessary that they be the same. Take a single wine glass, a couple of grandmother's glasses from a non-surviving set, one glass won in a promotion, etc.

Look for decor. Then take a tray or dish, place your chosen New Year's trifles on it and simply cover them with a glass. Place a candle on top. An important point: it should not be long, but not too wide - the bottom of the glass should protrude enough so that the wax does not drain onto the plate.

Ideas for inspiration

Large decorations on a wooden tray and colored candles.

If you have enough time, you can also paint the glasses. An appropriate master class will come to the rescue.

Use cotton wool to simulate snow, small artificial Christmas trees and toys from kinder surprises.

A plate in combination with a round mirror (candles will be very beautifully reflected) and small Christmas decorations of different colors.

Beads of various colors and sizes (you can string them on a fishing line so that they do not scatter).

If the tray is not too beautiful, it can be decorated with Christmas tree branches. Just be careful - watch out for fire and wax!

Place artificial snow, Christmas trees and artificial poinsettia on a tray, hide toy New Year characters in glasses.

Ornaments in traditional Christmas colors look especially advantageous. Use a red dish, red candles, red-green and silver balls, and some spruce branches.

Do you want to decorate your house for the holiday or just create an atmosphere of comfort in it? Then just decorate the dining table, shelves and consoles with candles. And to save on buying a lot of candlesticks, we recommend making them yourself. In this material, you will learn 7 ideas for making candlesticks from readily available, improvised, and even junk materials in just one evening.

Idea 1. Candlestick made of wooden cuts

A saw cut of a tree is an almost ready-made candlestick, beautiful, environmentally friendly and versatile. It will be appropriate in or interior design all year round, including New Year's holidays.

How to do it: You can make your own saw cuts, but it's faster and easier to buy ready-made saw cuts, which are sold in many online stores and craft stores. "Ready" saw cuts are good because they do not have splits and cracks, they are properly dried and can already be sanded. You can pick up saw cuts of different diameters, heights, different types of wood and make a whole set of candlesticks. You can make a cell for a candle in a saw cut using a drill with a forstner drill (about 150 rubles) or another drill that can make a blind round hole of the diameter you need (for example, it can be a “ballerina”, a wood crown, a spiral or drill bit, etc.).

Idea 2. Wooden block candlestick

And here is another idea for making a candlestick out of wood with your own hands, however, this time from a bar. However, you can replace the bar with a dried log or a board of a suitable size.

How to make it: To make a large wooden candlestick with your own hands, you will need:

  • Dry planed or unplaned wooden block (better wider so that the candlestick is stable). In this master class, a 100 × 100 mm bar was used.
  • A drill and a Forstner drill of a suitable diameter (for your candles) or any other drill that can cut a blind round hole of a small depth of 0.5-1 cm or more. A drill with a diameter of 50 mm was used here.
  • Square.
  • Roulette.
  • Pencil.
  • A hammer.
  • Stain of the desired color, rags or brush.
  • Rubber gloves.

Step 1. First of all, you need to cut a piece of the desired length from the bar with a saw or jigsaw. In this project, the candle holder was made to decorate a large table, so it is 90 cm long. Think about how many candles your candle holder will hold, and how much space there will be between them. Then mark the cut line, cut off the bar and lightly sand its end with sandpaper.

Step 2. Next, you need to draw markings on the bar for placing candles. To do this, first determine the length of the indents from the edges of the candlestick (in this MK there are indents of 7 cm), then simply place the candles on the bar with equal intervals, circle them and mark the center of each circle with a dot.

Step 3. Using a drill and a Forstner drill, cut blind round holes of small depth. Do not worry if the edges of the cells turn out to be rough, for our rustic candlestick this is only a plus.

Step 4. Give the tree an aged and sloppy look by tapping the ends of the candlestick with a hammer. You can make dents in only a few places or on all visible sides of the bar.

Step 5. Now you need to give the tree color, while maintaining the visibility of its pattern and beautiful texture. To do this, simply rub the stain with a soft cloth into the surface of the product in one layer, and then let it dry.

Here's what you should get.

Idea 3. Candlestick from a bottle

Glass bottles make not only elegant or vintage candlesticks, but also caps. Here are some ideas that you might like and that are very easy to implement.

Such candlesticks, made by hand from cut bottles, can be beautifully packaged and presented to loved ones.

How to do it: There is nothing easier than making a candlestick from a bottle with your own hands, as in the photo above, because for this you just need to cut it and fill it with wax with a wick, or just put a small candle. There are two ways to cut a glass bottle.

  • Method 1: Soak a thick cotton thread in alcohol (eg nail polish remover), then wrap it around the bottle. Light the thread with care and immediately begin to rotate the bottle around its axis so that the fire spreads along the entire length of the thread. Now immerse the bottle in boiling water for 3 minutes, and then immediately transfer it to a container of cold water. Due to a sharp temperature drop, the glass will crack where the burning thread was tied. True, if the glass is too thick, for example, like a bottle of champagne, then the procedure will have to be repeated 2-3 times.
  • Method 2: If you have a glass cutter or glass drill, then you can use them. Wrap the bottle with a hair tie, and then draw a line along its contour with a glass cutter. Burn the cut line, immerse the bottle in boiling water for 3 minutes, and then quickly transfer it to cold water.

When the bottle breaks, sand the sharp edge first with coarse sandpaper and then with fine grit.

Now that the candlestick is almost ready, you can insert the wick into it, fix it in a vertical position (eg, with Chinese sticks as shown in the photo) and finally fill it with pre-melted paraffin.

room. Warm lights, mysteriously flickering through the tinsel and making bright decorations shimmer, seem to take us to a fairy tale and create a festive atmosphere.

Most often, candles are placed in candlesticks, candelabra or on special stands. Of course, you can buy these holiday attributes in any store. However, it is much more pleasant to make New Year's candlesticks with your own hands, bringing a piece of warmth to the work. If you have children, then they will be happy to join this simple process, especially since many options for making New Year's accessories will not take much time and will not require special skills from you.

materials

You can make New Year's candlesticks with your own hands from almost everything: glass, wood, cans and bottles, various containers, paper, cardboard, textiles, wire ... The only condition is that they should look festive and elegant, and at the same time be sufficiently stable and fireproof .

For the decoration of products, you can take spruce branches and cones, sequins, braid, bows, beads, rhinestones, foil, tinsel, miniature figurines of animals and fairy-tale characters. In general, everything that your imagination can beat.

From the tools you will definitely need scissors, a pencil or pen, pins, needles and threads, glue. The remaining auxiliary materials are selected in advance in accordance with the guide according to which you decided to make the jewelry.

Below are a few ways to make a New Year's candlestick. Each of them is original in its own way, and the material for at least a couple of species from this list can be found in every home.

Glass candlesticks

Making coasters from glasses or glasses is perhaps the easiest way. We have the base, so now we just need to decorate it beautifully.

First option. Wrap the main part of the wine glass with lace and carefully seal its ends. If it seems to you that the decor turned out to be rustic, you can attach bows or beads to the resulting canvas.

A New Year's candlestick made from a glass, made in the second way, is more interesting, but the work will also take a little longer. You will need a large glass, cardboard, glass glue, artificial snow or cotton wool, tiny figurines for filling (houses, Christmas trees, birds, Santa Claus with the Snow Maiden, etc.).

First circle the glass, placing its edge on the cardboard, and cut out a circle. Then pour artificial snow into the glass, and if it is cotton wool, glue it on a cardboard circle. Attach one or two chosen figurines on top of the cotton wool, coat the edge with glue, turn head down, and carefully placing the figurines in the main part of the glass, carefully press the edges of the cardboard to the glass rim. Wait for it to dry. Now the glass can be carefully turned over. If bulk snow was used, lightly shake the glass to even out the material. And you can place a candle on the leg, having previously dripped wax on the base.

The third option is a little more complicated. It is performed using the decoupage technique, that is, by transferring a pattern from paper to a glass (in our case) surface. First, the glass is washed, covered with acrylic paint and left to dry completely. According to the size of the glass, the pattern you like is selected and cut out. It is best to take images on thin paper, such as napkins. Attach the drawing to the glass and apply a layer of PVA glue diluted with water about 1 to 2 on top. Wait for it to dry and cover the result with clear acrylic varnish. For decoration, you can use glitter nail polish and artificial snow.

Candlesticks from cans

Even such a seemingly ordinary thing as a simple glass jar can be used to make a New Year's candlestick. The master class will require the mandatory presence of large table salt and PVA glue.

Thickly coat the jar with glue and let it dry slightly. After it stops dripping, start sprinkling the container with salt.

Our task is to ensure that the salt is evenly distributed over the entire surface without gaps. In principle, the New Year's candlestick from the jar is ready - it remains only to wait until it is completely dry, and in the meantime, choose the decor appropriate for the occasion.

bottle candlesticks

Bottles can be decorated in two ways:

  1. Decorate the main part of the container with decoupage, “dressing up” it in a decorated fabric or organza bag, or simply paint it with acrylic paints and sparkles. Then place a candle of a suitable diameter in the neck. Melting, it will flow with beautiful streaks of wax, which looks great.
  2. The second option is much more complicated, as it involves removing the bottom of the bottle. To do this, you can use a glass cutter or twine soaked in a combustible composition. Wrap it around the bottle and set it on fire. When the container warms up enough, sharply lower it into cold water, and the bottom will easily separate from the main part. After that, as in the case of a glass, cut out a circle of cardboard according to the diameter of the container, put a candle on it and light it. Cover the top with a bottle, like a cap, do not plug the neck. The candlestick is ready! You can decorate it with a painting or a paper lampshade with curly slits.

fruit candlesticks

If the house does not have any of the above materials, but you still want originality, you can make New Year's candlesticks with your own hands from fruits or cones.

For the first option, you will need large oranges, grapefruits or pomelo. It is necessary to cut off the top of the fruit, carefully clean the pulp with a spoon and let the peel dry. If desired, curly windows can be made in the shell. It remains only to place a candle there, and the element of New Year's decor is ready! And what a fragrant aroma from it ...

cone products

New Year's candlesticks made of cones are no less beautiful. Take a tin lid, a round wooden plank, or any other object that can serve as a stand. Place the candle in the center and use wax to secure it. Wrap the bottom with foil. This is necessary so that when it burns out, it does not set fire to the decor located around. Now take cones, spruce twigs, ribbons, beads, figurines or small Christmas decorations, and use special glue to fix them around the candle. This candlestick looks very bright and festive.

Thread products

To make Christmas candlesticks with your own hands from threads, you will need the threads themselves, a balloon or a jar and PVA glue. Inflate the balloon to the desired size and start winding it. It is best to do this up to half the ball or container, or up to 2/3. After a sufficient number of threads have been wound, fasten the tip and coat the entire structure with glue diluted with water 50 to 50. Leave it to dry completely, and then carefully remove the ball or jar. The product is ready!
