Stainless steel candlesticks are great for decorating a house, porch, terrace. These products look amazing. Especially if their surface is covered with holes that create a flickering effect while the candle is burning.

To create a patterned candle holder from a tin can, you will need a minimal set of tools: a stainless steel can, a hammer and a nail.

Work begins with drawing a pattern. To do this, use a marker or pencil. A stencil can be a floral or natural ornament, stars or constellations.

To cope with the task, earth is densely poured into the jar. This will allow you to more accurately make holes in the surface of the can. Holes are punched along the contour of the drawing with a nail and a hammer.

In the future, the jar can be decorated or painted with spray paint to match the style of the interior. They put a candle inside the jar and enjoy the beautiful silhouettes that reflect on the wall.

Important! The more you take a jar with a candle, the brighter the effect will be.

Candlesticks from small glass jars

Many people think that the best candlesticks are made from tall or wide jars. After all, they can accommodate a lot of decor and due to their size there is a large field for creativity. But in fact, you can make a very beautiful candlestick from a baby food can. Sometimes just a couple of strokes are enough and a wonderful decor is ready!

Here are some examples of how you can make cute candle holders from small jars:

  1. Cut off a small piece of lace that can wrap around the jar in diameter, but at the same time it will be narrower than the walls of the container. Secure the edges of the lace with the help of a twine over the top. It turned out a candlestick in the style of shabby chic.
  2. Coat some parts of the jar with glue. You can draw adhesive strips, draw patterns, shapes, and the like. Sprinkle the jar with glitter (shimmer) or salt (it can be painted with crayons to add color). Let the glue dry, and then brush off any excess grains of sand with a brush.
  3. Cut out a piece of fabric or lace. Place the jar in the center of the patch and lift the edges of the material. Spread the fabric over the jar and tie a ribbon or twine around the neck of the jar. Trim off excess material so that it does not accidentally catch fire.
  4. Pour some cereals or coffee beans into a jar (the capacity is small, so the product consumption will be small). Make the layer height arbitrary. Place a tablet candle on the loose filler. Such a candlestick will look especially beautiful in the kitchen and will take on the function of decor.
  5. Draw a pattern or stencil on the sides of the jar with acrylic paint.

It is worth noting that in addition to tablet candles, ordinary candles can also be placed in glass candlesticks.

A homely, cozy and easy way to make a beautiful candle with your own hands - any color, size and aroma.

You will need:

500 g soy wax
Wax dye (in pencil, chalk, or liquid paint)
Pot or ladle
Medium wick and a sticker for it
Small wooden sticks for fixing the wick
Wooden spoon
Aromatic oils of your choice
Glass jar
Colored cardboard or craft paper to decorate the candle

1. Remove the top from the cover, leaving only the metal rim. You will need the lid later to decorate the candle.

2. Take the sticker and stick it to the metal base of the wick. Then stick it to the bottom of the jar to keep the wick firmly in place.

3. Then fix the wick with wooden sticks. It must be strictly in the center of the jar, otherwise it will move when you fill in the wax.

4. Melt the wax over low heat, in no case bringing to a boil and stirring constantly. White wax when melted will look slightly yellowish.

5. Add color and fragrance. Wax crayons need to be turned into small chips, you can mix several colors or leave one. The more shavings you add, the richer the color will be.

For fragrance, use special oils: about 30 g per 500 g of wax.

Jars of baby food or spices look very good, you can make a whole series of candlesticks of the same size. You can use a candle holder or pour wax inside and add various ingredients for fragrance and decoration.

You do not have to be a professional designer to decorate an apartment in an original way for the New Year. Each of us has old plush toys, photographs, candles and other things that are easy to make holiday decor.

Christmas decoration is a fun activity that you and your children will love. Such work will cheer you up and prepare the whole family for the winter holidays. We will tell you how to prepare the house for the New Year and Christmas with homemade candlesticks.

How to make candlesticks

Decided to decorate your house for your favorite holiday? A simple and effective way is to play with light. A live flickering candle will create a mysterious atmosphere and give you a good mood. In the flame of a candle, all problems and worries gradually disappear, and even a small mess is not so noticeable.

To create a mysterious atmosphere, prepare a lot of candles. They are also easy to make yourself. Consider the lighting in the room where you are going to meet the next year.

First, let's check the old stock. Is it possible to do something with them? Enhance the look of old candle holders with snowflake napkins, drapery in elegant embroidered fabric, or fine glossy paper. You can wrap them with ribbons, lace or shiny tinsel, paste over with rhinestones.

Nice to watch floating candles. You should have an old transparent vase or a crystal salad bowl that has long gone out of fashion. You can decorate the edges with toys or small pine cones.

Now pour water into the salad bowl and lower the candles into it. Add small spruce branches, rowan and petals to the water to make your creative composition the main decoration of the festive table. Candlesticks can be made from unnecessary things that are uselessly stored on our shelves. They are even edible. Don't believe? Then move on to the next sections of the article.

Fragrant from fruits

In search of improvised materials for our device, we go to the kitchen. We will try to make original candlesticks from fruits. Prepare them right before the celebration. Fruit candlesticks will give a beautiful unusual radiance and delicate aroma.

Take bright apples, grapefruits or oranges. Fruits should be bright, pronounced round shape. Cut them in half and carefully remove all the pulp with a spoon.

Draw a simple pattern with a marker or pen, cut out all the excess along the contours using nail scissors. There should be a lot of "holes" to provide an outlet for light.

Place a candle in the center of each half. You can make a closed version by covering it on top with the second part.

Decorate fruits with small sprigs of fir, buds, rhinestones. Use toothpicks to attach rowan berries and tiny toys.

From waste jars

For these purposes, we use any jar - from the smallest (for baby food) to a liter. The originality of future candlesticks will be emphasized by the unusual shape of the jar.

The most elementary way to use the jar is to simply turn it over, throwing a piece of elegant fabric on top and placing a small candle on the bottom.

Consider creative candlesticks made from jars that will become a work of art. Let's try to decorate cans with the kids. Let's take:

  • colored markers;
  • gouache;
  • nail polish of different shades;
  • PVA glue;
  • brushes.

If you are decorating jars with markers or nail polish, no preparation is required. Take and draw different Christmas stories on them - snowflakes, Christmas trees, garlands, snowmen or just intricate abstract patterns.

If you are going to decorate jars with gouache, prepare them for painting. Cover the container with glue and let it dry, then the paint will “stick” to the glass better. Draw the outlines and color the shapes with bright hues.

Entrust painting to your child and do not try to correct his work. The result will definitely exceed your expectations! After the gouache has dried, cover it with a transparent varnish. If not, use hairspray. It is applied so that the paint does not peel off and does not contaminate the hands.

Another interesting painting technique is stained glass paint. It is designed for drawing on smooth surfaces. This is a good idea for Christmas decorations too.

Pre-draw the pattern with a marker on the bank. Then circle the outline with black paint, then leave it to dry for half an hour. Fill the space with any bright colors and leave to dry again (dry for a few hours).

We insert the candle into our jar - the pattern begins to flicker with colored lights. A liter container with a wide mouth can be half filled with water. The candle will float, and the light from the jar will shimmer and fill the room with warmth.

Do you want to celebrate the New Year outside the city? Arrange your glowing decorations along the paths, on windowsills and trees. Bright colored lights will create a wonderful mood.

How to make a candle house

You could see small "houses" for candles on store shelves, but they are completely devoid of originality. Let's learn how to make such decorations with a simple master class. To do this, prepare:

  • empty square packaging from milk or kefir;
  • glue;
  • gouache;

Prepare salt dough: mix a glass of flour and salt, pour in a tablespoon of any vegetable oil and enough water to knead the dough. The final consistency should be like clay. To make colored dough, add paint to the mixture.

Now let's start building the house. Wash the paper container thoroughly to remove milk drink residue, dry it and cut off the bottom. Cut out a few windows and leave a hole for the pipe.

Next, we lubricate the outer wall of the house with glue and begin to roll small sausages from the dough. Here you can involve your child - he will cope with the task. We do this with all the walls, not forgetting to leave the openings for the windows uncovered.

Now roll out a rectangle to make a roof. We glue it to the walls. Next is the case behind the door and shutters. Near the house you can install any figurine - Snow Maiden or Santa Claus. For large items we use glue, small ones are slightly moistened with water.

The resulting composition is dried in the oven at a very low temperature. When the work has dried, it can be decorated with any paints. Top coat the house with varnish. Put a small candle inside it, and it will glow with a soft light, and real smoke will quietly come out of the pipe!

This is not a mandatory set, you can improvise and use whatever you find in your Christmas decoration box.

  • We make a stand for a candle using a metal lid or a narrow glass. In the first version, we glue the button on the lid to fix the candle. The glass itself will cope with the task, supporting it with its walls.
  • Now we make out a stand for the whole composition. For it, you can use a piece of old board or plywood. We smear it with glue on all sides and apply foil.

We paint cones

  • In the middle of our board with foil we set a stand for a candle. We lay out cones, twigs, toys around. When the resulting composition takes on an attractive appearance, we begin to glue the objects.

Do everything step by step - the craft is ready
