Using a jigsaw or a construction knife along the drawn arc, one of the side parts for the arch must be cut out. Attach it to a new sheet of plasterboard, outline the contour, cut it out - you get the second side part.

To make a good arch, you need to take care of a reliable frame. For its construction, a guide made of a metal profile is attached to the dowels in the upper part of the opening. The guides must also be fixed on the wall from both sides - from the upper corner to the point where the rounding of the arch ends. It is necessary to carefully measure the side guides: if they are not the same, the arch will come out curved.

An arc must be made from the metal profile - both side walls are cut with scissors in several places, after which they are turned with cuts upwards and bent in a semicircle. For the template, you can use prepared side parts. The profile must be attached to the vertical guides with dowels, to the drywall sheets - with self-tapping screws. You will need two more of the same arcuate parts. For greater reliability of the frame in the space between the arcs, additional sections of the profile can be fixed.

The next step is to fix the arched side elements to the frame using self-tapping screws. Next comes the turn of the upper curved element.

How to install a curved element

To decorate the lower end of the arch, it is necessary to cut off an even strip of material, carefully calculated in size. For measurements, it is convenient to use a flexible measuring tape. Add another 10 cm to the length of the strip.

To make an arc from drywall for the manufacture of an end element, the lower part of the strip must be wetted and rolled with a needle roller. Let it lie down for a while. Wetting should be carried out carefully, without excessive abundance, so that the material does not become sour. After that, carefully place the element in the arch in the right place, secure it with adhesive tape. Wait for it to dry completely.

Now fasten the strip with self-tapping screws to the frame on both sides - it is better to start screwing them in from the middle of the arch. Next, you need to wait about 12 hours until the drywall dries.

The element can be bent both wet and dry by notching the material in certain places. But this method is suitable for making not very large bends.

The production of the arc in a dry way is carried out as follows:

Frame preparation.

• on one of the sides of the strip prepared to create the element, transverse cuts are made - almost to the entire depth of the gypsum layer;
• along the cuts made, the part breaks, it is necessary to ensure that the gypsum layer remains on undamaged paper;
• seal the slots with putty, if necessary, you can glue them with sickle tape;
• having bent, the part is attached to the frame with self-tapping screws, it is not necessary to screw them along the very edge, otherwise the gypsum layer may be damaged; drown the caps of the screws a little into the surface;
• the puttied areas must be properly cleaned with sandpaper so that the surface is perfectly smooth.

Thus, the arch is prepared for applying a decorative layer - painting or wallpapering.

When all the structural elements are prepared and installed in place, it's time to move on to its finishing.

The device of the arched opening.

All parts of the drywall arch installed in place must be treated with fine-grained sandpaper. So it is possible to remove bumps and get good rounded protrusions. The mounting seams must be sealed with putty, and the joints must be glued with sickle tape.

Before starting the putty, fix the perforated corner profiles properly - they must be used in order for the corners of the arch to retain their shape. The profiles are fastened to the putty, then they are also closed with a layer of putty.

After the putty layer has completely dried, it is necessary to clean out all the irregularities with sandpaper. Now apply a layer of primer and wait for complete drying. We putty the arch with the finishing compound and grind it for the last time. The next step is to apply a decorative coating.

The choice of decorative coating

2. The gap between the corners must be filled with mortar and wait for it to dry. If the width of the wall is less than the width of the extension, then it will have to be cut, and cover one of the sides of the opening with a casing.
3. Next, the extension is applied to the opening and is drilled with a drill at a distance of 5-10 cm from the top. First, it is fixed at the top, then at the bottom and at the end - in the center. The gap between the fasteners can be from 10 to 60 cm. Thus, all extensions are attached.

By the way, the door portal can be assembled separately and then inserted into the opening, but it turns out to be more difficult due to the fact that the slightest mistake during installation can nullify all efforts.

How to create an arch structure

You need to start by preparing the tools.

• a hacksaw for wood, and preferably a jigsaw;
• self-tapping screws and screws with dowels;
• screwdriver;
• drill - can also replace a screwdriver;
• perforator or impact drill;
• grinder.

Training

If the tools are prepared, you can begin to dismantle the old door along with the box. First, you can remove the door itself, then - trim and box. Then you need to take care that the surface is not dirty and dusty.

Process description

It is better to fix sheets of fiberboard or chipboard on a crate made of wooden blocks. To do this, you need to take measurements, according to which you can cut off the required number and the desired length of the bars.

We drill holes in them, taking into account the diameter, in order to then fix them with dowels and screws. Next, we make marks where you need to drill holes in the opening. We do this with an impact drill or puncher. We select for this drill the desired diameter. We insert the dowels into the holes, apply the beam and fix it, twisting the screws one by one.

When such a frame is built, you can fix the sheets of chipboard or fiberboard. It is necessary to take measurements again, according to which we alternately cut and fix pieces of material. It is necessary to calculate and make holes in the material so that they coincide with the location of the bars. Next, we apply the sheets to the crate and fix them with self-tapping screws, screwing them into the holes using a screwdriver or drill at low speeds.

When all the elements are installed, it remains to close the caps of the screws with decorative plugs. The ends of the sheets of chipboard or fiberboard must be closed with platbands.

In this way, you can easily create a portal format arch. Here it is important to pay due attention to the joining of vertical elements and horizontal, so that a seamless connection without gaps is obtained.

A profitable solution is to use fiberboard and chipboard for finishing the structure

If you want to save money, but at the same time create an original design of the doorway, you can use chipboard or fiberboard for this. The properties of these materials are sufficient to be used for these purposes. As a result, we get a delightful interior with a non-standard solution - the presence of an interior arch.
