Seeder with your own hands. We create a seeder on our own. How to make a seeder with your own hands? What tasks does the seeder solve and how does it work? Homemade manual seeder: the nuances of precise and simple sowing

Manual, simple, mini - all carrot planters are structurally different, but the principle of operation is similar. The device helps to plant small seeds evenly in a row, which subsequently relieves gardeners of the need to thin out and form plantings.

A fully functional seeder is made from improvised materials: cans, plastic bottles, and other recyclable materials. A tool made of metal plates is intended for large farms, where the goal is the industrial scale of growing vegetables and herbs. Making a metal seeder requires professional skills, but this tool can also be made by hand, especially if they are gold.

A seeder for carrots must perform the following functions:

  • sowing in rows without gaps;
  • evenly (through a certain interval) distribute the seeds in rows;
  • give out a certain amount of seed per 1 linear meter (in pieces, grams);
  • lay seeds at a specified depth in the soil;
  • do not damage the seed;
  • fill the grooves with loose soil after laying.

How to make a manual seeder out of metal

A manual seeder made of metal is a prototype, in terms of functionality and design, close to the tools made in the factory. This mechanical device is useful for large farms, greenhouses that grow carrots and other vegetables on an industrial scale.

As a result, sowing time is reduced, labor costs are saved by reducing the time for thinning seedlings. Seeds are sown in a row, after a certain interval, which is adjusted manually. Seeder control principle – mechanical, manual.

The principle of operation of the manual seeder

When pushing the seeder, the wheels rotate, and with them the shaft, which, in turn, performs the function of a dispenser. On the shaft there are small recesses into which the seeds fall. Turning around the axis, the roller takes the portion from the bunker. When passing the brush, the excess seed is removed from the recesses and one seed remains in them. With further turning of the wheels and the shaft, the seeds fall out of the niche directly into the prepared furrow.

The advantage of a manual seeder is that recesses of different diameters are usually made on one shaft in a certain order. This allows you to sow the seeds of various vegetable crops, such as carrots, beets, greens, peas, beans, etc. If necessary, the cell size and their number are reduced with natural wax. Yulia Petrichenko, expert

In the manufacture of a seeder, recesses are made taking into account the required distance between seedlings of crops. Also, the length of the shaft, and, consequently, the distance between the furrows, can be made more or less than indicated in the drawing.

It should be remembered that the maximum length, diameter of the shaft and wheels are dependent on each other. Specify the parameters by carrying out mathematical calculations.

Materials and tools

To make a seed drill you will need:

  1. Sheet steel 1.5 mm thick.
  2. Scissors, hacksaw for metal.
  3. Soldering iron and hard solder.
  4. Short bushings.
  5. 1 mm thick steel strip for slider.
  6. Metal plate 0.1 mm thick.
  7. Brass rod with a diameter of 15 mm or a nut with an internal thread diameter of 8 mm.
  8. Steel solid bar with a diameter of 18 mm.
  9. Metal bushings 1 mm thick - for wheel hubs.
  10. Locksmith tools: pincers, pliers, lathe, ruler.
  11. Drilling machine or hand power tool.
  12. Wooden handle.

Since the work is supposed to be serious, a person with certain skills should be involved in the preparation, assembly, and processing of parts. It requires technical knowledge, the ability to read blueprints and work with metal and plumbing tools.

Calculation of planter parameters

We determine the approximate number of recesses on the shaft for seeds according to the formula:

n \u003d (3.14 D q i) / (B K),

where D is the wheel diameter, m; q is the required number of seeds per 1 linear meter of furrow, pcs.; i - gear ratio from the wheels to the shaft, when installed in the same level, it is equal to the length of the shaft; B - germination of the sown material, in shares; K is a coefficient that takes into account soil viscosity and wheel slip (taken equal to 0.96 ... 0.98).

where d is the shaft diameter, m; n is the number of rows.

When choosing the parameters of the seeder, consider the following: the larger the diameter of the shaft, the better the capture of seeds and distribution in the recesses. Therefore, sowing occurs more evenly. With this in mind, choose a shaft with a diameter of at least 40 mm.

Step-by-step instructions: do-it-yourself manual seeder

The main stages of preparation:

  1. Cut out blanks from sheet metal 1.5 mm thick according to the drawing: wheel disks, hopper walls and others. Sand the edges and holes if necessary.
  2. Connect the body parts along the lines, solder with hard solder.
  3. Solder the sliding supports - short bushings - into the holes of the side parts.
  4. Between the rear wall and the shaft, make a minimum gap.
  5. Solder a sleeve for a wooden handle on the outside of the front wall. From the inside, in the upper part, install the bracket for the adjusting nut from above, for the slider guide - from below.
  6. Make a slider from a strip of steel 1 mm thick and bend it as shown in the drawing. Solder a brush from a thin steel strip 0.1 mm to the part.
  7. From brass on a lathe, turn an adjusting nut with a 0.8 mm rim.
  8. A shaft with 45 degree chamfers on both sides is machined from a steel bar with a diameter of 18 mm.
  9. On the shaft, drill 6-8 notches with a diameter of not more than 0.4 mm (for carrots), 0.6 mm (for larger seeds). Maintain a distance between rows of at least 20 mm and make notches in a checkerboard pattern, then the seeds will be distributed evenly in the furrows. On one shaft in this design, 2 rows are provided. If more seed spacing is needed, leave one row and increase the spacing between the holes. Accordingly, the number of cells will decrease to 3-4.
  10. Saw the wheel rims along the outer diameter with a hacksaw or scissors towards the center at the points where the center line of holes with a diameter of 10 mm passes. The number of cuts is equal to the number of holes (12). Bend each petal with pliers outward at an angle of 45 degrees.
  11. Cut out the wheel hubs from 1 mm thick metal, bend and solder into the holes of the discs with a diameter of 20 mm.
  12. Assemble the seeder in the following order: put the body on the shaft, then the wheels, fix the parts, put the wooden handle.

" Carrot

Planting carrots always takes a lot of time. If the seedlings are sown in random order, then as they emerge, they will have to be thinned out and weak sprouts removed. To reduce the time for planting, as well as to plant evenly, use seeders. You can buy them or make your own.

Seeders made for manual sowing are divided into several types:

  1. Fertilizers- are recommended to simplify the process of fertilization or distribution of lime throughout the territory;
  2. garden- designed for sowing seeds for agricultural needs in areas near the house or gardens;
  3. Cereals- provide for landing in vast areas - in grain fields.

A simple seeder can be made from improvised material without spending much money. But all simple devices are made only for the hole, that is, it is often problematic or almost impossible to adjust the required volume of the hole.

If you make a simple do-it-yourself seeder, it is recommended to provide for the moment of planting various planting material. It is necessary so that the hole made of a sheet of iron can be regulated.

The advantages of such a device are:

  • Uniform seeding planting material;
  • Accommodation on the same depth;
  • the same distance between landings;
  • Simplicity in use;
  • Ease in building.

With the help of such a unit, you can quickly land a vast area in a short time. After working with a seeder for carrots, you will not have to pull out extra seedlings, injuring those that remain for further growth.

Manual seed planter

This type of planting technology is used in large areas. It is able to create even grooves, to impose a uniform amount of seeds in them. It can be used not only for planting carrots, but also beets, onions, parsley, lettuce or other small seeds.

The groove is made by moving the wheel, on which special blades or spikes are located. With these growths, the wheel creates holes of a certain size with the same depth.

The device of the seeder is such that a spout extends from the hopper through which a certain amount of seeds is sown. The supply of seedlings is strictly regulated by a special valve.

At the back there is an additional wheel with a smooth surface, which, when moving, falls asleep and compacts holes with planting material.

Some manual planters may have multiple planting rows and also be adjustable for the depth of the indentation.

piston

The piston seeder for carrots looks like a plastic container, of a cylindrical nature. Planting material is placed in it. At the bottom there is an adjustable cone hole for sowing seedlings into the soil. On top of this device is a piston equipped with a spring.

This unit works on the principle of squeezing a certain amount into a pre-prepared recess in the ground. So that the seedlings do not scatter in different directions, the piston seeder is placed 5 cm above ground level.

Some farmers consider the piston planter a problematic device, while replacing it with an ordinary medical syringe. But working with a syringe brings a lot of inconvenience:

  1. When squeezing seeds, they often scatter in different directions;
  2. The pressure on the syringe cannot be controlled, therefore, the seeds are poured out in different volumes.

The piston planting system is designed for large areas, and with a syringe you can’t sow much. Therefore, it is better to use a piston with a springy pressure.

funnel-shaped

One of the simplest mechanisms is a large dispenser with a miniature "nose". The cone that goes into the ground has a hole, the volume of which can be adjusted by the diaphragm inside.

The funnel is installed above the soil surface at a height of up to 15 cm and the preparation is gently shaken.. Seeds, rolling out along the groove, evenly fit into the furrow.

Using such a funnel-bowl, it is possible to achieve regular, even grooves, while not thickened by an excessive amount of seeds.

The disadvantage is the need to adapt or adapt to such work.. If you shake often or strongly, then you can plant the seeds not at all in the groove, but around the entire area.

Planter for carrots from a bar

This planting method is similar to the egg tray planting method. To manufacture a planter from a bar, you will need several plastic covers and a wooden block. Its dimensions can be arbitrary, but it is better to stick to the checked volume of a wooden plank - 5x5x50 cm.

Covers are nailed on one side. The earth needs to be well loosened so that it is airy and soft. The top layer of soil is evenly leveled. The side with the lids is lowered into the soil and pressed. After the bar is raised above the surface, even holes remain in the soil substrate for planting carrot seeds. It remains only to invest the prepared seedlings and sprinkle.

Mini rake for planting seeds

A rake for planting is easy to perform if you have previously had experience with a hacksaw or jigsaw. For the prepared beds, you should pick up a long board, such that it completely covers the area.

Also, for the production of a rake, you will need a block of wood, up to 20 cm long - this will be a handle.

The lower side (end) is subject to sawing. Peculiar cloves in the shape of a trapezoid are cut on it, so that the lower base is no more than 1 cm, and the depth reaches 2 cm. A handle is placed in the center on the flat side. This can be done with a nail. The work on the mini-rake is over.

To perform sowing, it is required to lower an impromptu rake onto a dug-up, airy area and run along the perimeter. On the site in an instant, even grooves are formed in which it is required to lay the planting material.

Additional types of seeders

There are many methods for planting seeds. Carrot seedlings present the greatest difficulty for gardeners. They are quite small and difficult to plant evenly. After germination, a very large number of young shoots have to be removed. Therefore, it is recommended to use different methods for planting:

  1. Sowing with toilet paper- Numerous seeds are glued to a piece of toilet paper in an arbitrary or strictly defined order. Later, this area is covered with a small layer of earth. When the sprouts germinate, they do not need to be discharged. The only thing is that weeds sprout abundantly among them. The disadvantage of the method is the long-term gluing of small seedlings on a piece of paper;
  2. Seeder from egg container- an original and simple way. The advantages of the method are simplicity and evenly planted seeds at the required distance. To do this, it is necessary to press the tray into the ground and pour planting material into the resulting holes, 1 or 2 seeds each;
  3. With tape- in specialized stores you can find a special tape for planting carrots. Seedlings are already glued to it in the required order and at the optimal distance. Landing is easy to perform - a tape is applied to the furrow made and sprinkled with earth.

Thus, in order to plant carrots without a seeder at home, you can easily, but before that you need to spend either money or be patient by laying small seeds on toilet paper. But to get a rich, and most importantly, even harvest, you can make any sacrifices.

How to make a manual seeder for carrots with your own hands?

In the case when there is no extra financial resources to purchase a seeder, you can make it yourself. Before work, you should draw up a drawing and an individual design of the future unit. It is best to do everything with simple models.

For production, an axle, aluminum-made tubes, and wheels are required, as well as iron, sheet format. From these parts you can make an excellent homemade seeder without resorting to heavy and costly technologies.

Collection scheme:

  1. Aluminum tubes turn into handles. It requires measuring the angle of inclination and adjusting the height of the seeder for growth, it is best to design the handles “away from you”;
  2. Seed bins are formed from iron in the form of cones or funnels. They are located on the axis so that there is a small space of 1 cm between them;
  3. Each the funnel should go down with a sharp cone, inside which there is a hole 0.1 cm wide;
  4. The central axle is connected to the wheels, bunkers are placed on top of the axis to which the handles are attached;
  5. Additionally, you can optionally install row marker.

Having tested the design, you can adjust it for yourself as needed so that the seedlings fall out evenly and at the same speed.

Thus, when using seeders, you can not only plant seeds in your garden or cottage with pleasure, but also spend less time. Besides, when working with technologies of such planting, it is not necessary to remove excess sprouts as the crop grows. If you follow the recommendations, you can make high-quality equipment with your own hands and plant large areas not only of carrots, but also of other crops.

Today, the topic of our conversation will be a seed drill: making such a design with your own hands is a rather simple procedure. Nevertheless, you can immediately appreciate the practicality of such inventory.

Why do you need a seeder? In principle, the answer to this question lies on the surface itself.

If you plant flowering plants on your plot, then for the winged workers of your apiary there will always be the food and raw materials they need for making honey. In addition, you will be able to get exactly the kind of sweet bee products that you desire.

You can use this equipment for a wide variety of purposes. So, with its help, you can plant plants in the following main ways:

  • in greenhouses;
  • in greenhouses;
  • on open ground.

As a rule, such equipment is a welded structure. Steel is used as the main material for its manufacture.

The equipment may consist of a single block, or it may have a trailed structure. Sowing processes can take place in one row, or several at once.

Before starting agricultural work, it will be necessary to install a special sleeve on the equipment. It will regulate the step with which the seeds will be thrown into the soil.

In addition, the design of such equipment allows you to control how many seeds will fall into one recess in the soil. It can be one seed, or it can be several at once.

What determines the intensity of sowing? First of all, from the pitch of the sowing sleeve recesses, as well as from the adjustment of the special brush stop.

Before using such an apparatus, it is necessary to spend time checking the serviceability of all the details of this design. In addition, you can set the settings you require and adjust them to your liking.

If everything is in order, then you can proceed directly to the process of agricultural work. If something is wrong, then you will have to repair your structure, replace faulty parts, adjust settings.

The last option is to buy a new device. However, in order not to spend extra financial resources, you can make such equipment yourself from improvised materials.

How to sow seeds

If you are planting flowering plants yourself as a source of pollen for your bees, then you will need a seeder. It can significantly facilitate your economic activities in the territory of your apiary.

The fact is that an apiary is not only a beehive with bees. These honey bees must have a good source of food for themselves.

It is good if a variety of flowering plants grow in natural conditions around your site. Then you do not have to take additional measures to provide food for your wards.

If this is not the case, then you will have to plant flowering plants next to your hives. When they grow up, the bees can make their flight in order to collect useful and healing pollen.

And this pollen will be used to create beekeeping products, including honey and perga. And the owner of the bee farm, in turn, will enjoy the rich harvests obtained on his small farm.

With the help of the rotation of a special sleeve, the process of sowing the seeds of flowering plants takes place. You can use several different bushing options in one device in order to plant different types of crops on your site.

In addition, do not forget about the ability to adjust the special brush. With its help, you can control the intensity of the release of seeds of flowering plants into the soil.

In addition to the finished product, you can purchase additional parts and spare parts for your device in specialized stores. The main consumables are rotating bushings.

The fact is that each crop requires its own bushing. It helps to comply with the norms of sowing a particular crop in the process of agricultural work.

Thus, if you have a large bee farm, then most likely you will want to plant several different crops on its territory. And for this you will have to stock up on a whole collection of different bushings.

How to make a seeder

You can make a seeder with your own hands. To do this, you need to stock up on the source material and the appropriate tools for its processing.

You can use high quality steel profile as the starting material. From it you can make a product that will be reliable and will serve you for a long time.

The main elements of the design of such equipment include the following elements:

  • frame;
  • seed hopper;
  • restrictive brush;
  • drive wheels.

Each individual element of this design performs certain functions.

Such a device, as a rule, is well adapted for use for some specific type of seed.

The elements of such a product are adapted to specific seed sizes. In addition, such a design has the ability to observe the step with which it is best to place each of the flowering plants apart.

The fact is that each crop has its own specific seeding rates. And if it is quite difficult for a person to observe them, then with the help of such equipment this is actually done automatically.

Homemade designs

Homemade designs are often not inferior in quality to purchased options. However, in order to make them, it will be necessary to show a certain skill.

There are special thematic forums where beekeepers discuss the possibilities of creating inventory for practical use on the territory of their beekeeping.

Here you can get ideas that will tell you what materials to make such equipment from, from which side to approach this issue, and also how to use it in the future in your business activities.

For example, such a design as a trailer is popular among apiary owners. It can work with a walk-behind tractor.

With the help of simple manipulations in the field of turning art, a small trailer is obtained that can help in the sowing process. With the help of such equipment, it is possible to cultivate the soil for the further creation of flower beds with mustard, phacelia, bruise and other flowering plants.

It will help you to make a similar design yourself save your money. The fact is that buying such equipment in a store will be too expensive for many.

The price depends on the design features of such inventory. For example, they can be divided into two large groups: manual and automatic.

If we are talking about the simplest options, then they will cost at least 12 thousand rubles. And the cost of more complex structures can exceed the value of 25 thousand rubles.

Having a special seeder on the territory of your beekeeping will allow you to successfully cope with many practical tasks that will arise in front of you in the course of your work as a beekeeper. For example, you can use it to plant seeds of flowering plants.

It is from the pollen of flowering plants that pollen is obtained, from which honey and bee bread are made. And if you correctly planted the seeds of flowering plants, then this means that you have taken the first step towards a rich harvest on the territory of your apiary.

A do-it-yourself manual seeder will help to facilitate and speed up the planting of seeds in a garden or summer cottage.

This does not require any special materials and special skills, since a do-it-yourself seeding unit, in most cases, is a simple fixture.

1 Benefits of using a manual seeder

Manual labor on the ground is always hard work. But by using the simplest tools, such as homemade planters, you can turn it into a pleasure.

Using a do-it-yourself manual precision seed drill, you can achieve the following:

  • seeds are evenly distributed on the beds, forming even rows;
  • the depth of placement in the soil will be the same for all seeds, which will allow seedlings to appear at the same time;
  • a do-it-yourself precision seeding seeder will allow you to form even row spacing and ensure the same distance between future plants, and this will make it easier to care for them in the future.

2 Options for homemade seeders

Everyone who is going to make a seeder with their own hands wants to reduce its cost as much as possible. Therefore, most often, craftsmen make those units that can be made from improvised materials.

2.2 Usage

For example, such a device can be used as a garlic planter.

In the area allotted for this crop, furrows are laid with the help (as in conventional sowing). Then, a manual seeder is placed in the furrow and, in the process of its movement, the seeds are evenly distributed along the entire length of the future bed. During the movement, the presence of a metal plate that covers the sown grains with soil will allow you not to go through this area again.

The disadvantages of such a device include the limited possibility of sowing (only one row) and sowing only one particular crop, since the seeds are not the same in size in different plants. To eliminate this problem, several refill jars should be used, with different hole sizes for each crop.

In the same way, a do-it-yourself lawn seeder can be made. The only difference is that not one, but several (4 or 6) plastic cans are attached to the wooden handle on both sides in equal numbers. In this case, special seeding accuracy is not needed, but a uniform distribution of lawn grass seeds will be ensured with the capture of a larger area.

2.3 Universal manual seeder and its creation

A more complex option for self-manufacturing a device for sowing seeds, which allows you to work with any seed crops.

The main working mechanism is the sowing shaft, which is an aluminum tube with a diameter of 30 mm (plus/minus 2 mm). Holes of various diameters (according to the size of seeds of different crops) should be drilled in it in three rows (each row for one crop).

The first row of 8 holes with a diameter of 4.5 mm is reserved for sowing such garden plants as parsley, carrots, sorrel, lettuce and others like them.

The second row with 16 holes with a diameter of 5.5 mm allows you to sow onions.

The third row, which consists of 5 holes with a diameter of 8.2 mm, is designed for sowing large seed crops (peas, beets, etc.).

In order to use one of the three rows during operation, the seeding shaft can move in a horizontal plane in relation to the hopper.

The seed hopper is made of sheet (preferably galvanized steel) 0.3-0.5 mm thick, in the form of a truncated inverted pyramid, the upper base of which is 80 × 70 mm, and the height is 40 mm. The lower part of the hopper has an opening for passing the seed material to the sowing shaft. There is also a brush that regulates the density of sowing, when moving it vertically relative to the sowing shaft.

To control the filling of the hopper, it is closed with a transparent lid made of plastic or plexiglass. The lid is also necessary so that the seeds do not spill out in motion when the hopper is completely filled or are not blown out by the wind.

2.4 Application of the universal seeder

In the selected area, furrows are made in the soil along its entire length. With the planter set up, moving the brush to one of the three rows fills the hopper with seed.

Having installed the seeder with wheels in the furrows, sowing begins, moving it forward. Planting depth is adjusted by adjusting the coulter's immersion into the ground. The most optimal depth for all seed crops is considered to be planting below the general soil level by 2.5-3 mm.

The advantages of a universal seeder include the possibility of all types of seed plants and the possibility of passing several rows at the same time.
