Do-it-yourself octagonal wooden platform. Octagonal gazebo on the plot: step by step construction. Materials and tools

The arrangement of a site near a private house or in a country house may include landscape planning, planting plants and a lawn. Additional buildings are also an integral part. It's great to have a cozy place to relax and rejuvenate. An octagonal gazebo with your own hands will allow you to take a breath and enjoy eating in the fresh air. This solution boasts a good capacity, which will allow you to invite your best friends.

Reasons for choosing

The octagonal structure allows you to comfortably accommodate all those present: communication will be more pleasant, because. everyone will be able to see any of the interlocutors. If a table of the same shape is located inside, then up to 15 people can be calmly placed behind it. At the same time, during the meal, no one will interfere with his neighbor. With proper design and selection of materials, it can be used at any time of the year. Even at sub-zero temperatures inside, you can feel quite comfortable.

The shape of the roof repeats that of the entire structure. This means that the building will have several slopes. Even if the area is famous for significant winter precipitation, this will not be a problem, because the control points are located in such a way that they can withstand a significant load. Also, he simply will not be able to linger for a long period of time. If a sufficient overhang is provided, then rainwater will not be blown into the middle by the wind.

Even one person can implement such a project without additional help. It is much easier to do this if you have certain skills in working with power tools for wood or metal. In any case, it will be an advantage to improve them as the case progresses. The key to success is thoughtful initial planning. In this regard, you can not do without a good drawing. It will need to be applied to all sizes. It is better to perform the image in several planes. This will take into account even the smallest nuances of decoration.

Location selection

It is good if the gazebo is surrounded by lush green plants. When there is a small garden near the house, this will be an ideal place. Place the product as far as possible from the main building, this will allow you to completely immerse yourself in silence and escape from the daily hustle and bustle. There are a few more nuances that will help determine the ideal option for construction:

  • Is it planned to have running water near the gazebo or in it. Guided by this factor, it is necessary that communications be within reach. If there is a well nearby, then water can be brought manually or a pumping station can be installed and additional pipework can be done.
  • The area should be relatively flat. This is not a requirement. In principle, such a structure can be erected on the territory with any allowable slope, but there will be certain difficulties in order to ensure the same level of supports.
  • Choose an area that is not washed away by groundwater, as well as one where rainwater does not stagnate. It is very important that the completed project lasts as long as possible. After all, the gazebo is not made for one season.
  • It is better not to place the building close to the edge of the site. This will be inconvenient for both those present and the neighbors.
  • Carefully review the land deed. Usually it indicates which territory on the site is intended for what. If these conditions are not met, then the relevant services have the right to fine the owner or dismantle the fruits of labor.

Depending on the openness of the area, you can plan what the walls of the gazebo will be. Do they need to be closed completely or will a fine mesh be enough to block the air flow, and the rest will be compensated by the surrounding plants.

Foundation

A gazebo is not a house, so the choice of base is quite wide. Everything will depend on what soil is in a particular area, as well as what the planned budget is. We will consider several basic options that you can implement on your own without the help of a specialist. But the most important point at this stage is markup. It is much more beautiful when the whole structure is obtained with equal sides. If you want to achieve just such a result, then you will need to do the following:

  • Grass is mowed in the selected area. It can interfere with the pulling of fishing line or twine.
  • A square is marked. Its side should be equal to the total length or width of the future gazebo. It is very important that all angles are at 90°. For this, 4 pegs are driven in. Diagonals are checked between them. They must match. If this does not work, then one or more elements must be moved to achieve this result. A fishing line or twine is pulled, which forms a regular geometric figure. If desired, the resulting angles can be checked with a construction square.
  • Each side is divided into three equal parts. At these points, a peg is hammered. There will be a total of 4 pegs on one side.
  • Now the task will be to connect those pegs that are hammered in the middle of each side. This must be done in such a way that a square with beveled corners is obtained.
  • If everything was done correctly, then all 8 sides will be the same length. The first 4 support pegs, along with the fishing line that is stretched between them, can be removed.

There is another way to implement this markup:

  • A peg is driven in in the middle of the designated area.
  • A rope is tied to it. Its length should be equal to the total length of the future structure. It should be worn in such a way that it is easy to move around in a circle.
  • A peg with a pointed end is tied to the second end and a circle is described.
  • The next step is the diameter through the circle. Another one is held perpendicular to it. To the second next and so there should be four in total. The resulting points are connected to each other and a regular octagon is obtained.

If it is not the task that all sides are the same, then you can independently choose to what extent to cut the corners of a square or rectangle. But when there is symmetry, then the whole structure looks much neater.

A pile foundation can be made in a few hours if the supports themselves are bought ready-made. Definitely, this option will cost a little more. If the farm has a 50 mm pipe and small remnants of sheet metal with a thickness of 5 mm, and also has experience with a grinder and a welding machine, then everything can be done from scratch.

If there are no such materials on the farm, but you need to get by with minimal costs, then you can go the other way. But it is important to consider that the state of the soil should be such that the upper layers do not shift when wet.

  • Markup is done as described in the previous case.
  • A hole is dug in each corner to a depth of 50 cm, its dimensions are 45 × 45 cm.
  • A layer of 20 cm is made of sand. It needs to be sealed very well. After that, it can be moistened, added to the level after shrinkage and compacted again.
  • Another 20 cm of crushed stone is laid and is also well rammed. The remaining 10 cm are covered with sand.
  • Two blocks are placed on the formed pillow (elements with dimensions of 20 × 20 × 40 cm are suitable). They must be set very carefully, because. later they will serve as a reference point for the rest. They are reinforced with each other with a masonry mortar.
  • With the help of a water level or rule, two stones are set in the same way at each corner.
  • The next step is to lay two more blocks perpendicular to the first. All elements must also be in the same horizontal plane. This is very important so that later the whole gazebo does not turn out to be skewed.
  • The inner territory is laid in the same way as described above.

Because this option is not suitable for every territory, there is a solution that will be much more reliable.

Another option for the base, which may be to your taste - slab. For its implementation, no more effort is needed than for the previous ones, but in terms of strength it is not inferior, and in some moments it wins.

  • An octagon is applied to the territory.
  • Excavation is carried out over the entire area to a depth of 30 cm.
  • Filling is done as described above.
  • The plane is leveled.
  • A wooden formwork is exposed in the form of a future gazebo.
  • Inside the resulting small pit, a metal crate of reinforcement bars is laid. It may or may not be bulky. It is enough to lay the segments on the stands so that they form a lattice.
  • The prepared concrete is being poured. It is well rammed and compacted.
  • If the formwork has been leveled, then it can be used as beacons for leveling the screed. You will also need a long rule or drywall profile.
  • An additional assistant will be a vibrating screed, if one can be rented, then it will be great, it will allow you to compact the layer to the desired consistency. If such a tool is present, then less water can be added to the solution, which will speed up its setting.
  • It will take a month for it to dry completely. During this time, it is best to do nothing. Shrinkage occurs to a certain extent, it can lead to damage to the entire structure if it is erected ahead of time.
  • The plate must not be allowed to dry out. Periodically, it needs to be moistened, it can also be covered with slate or other material, which at first should be protected from direct sunlight. With a rapid loss of moisture, cracks appear, which is not good.

The last possible option would be a classic non-buried strip foundation. You will have to tinker with it a little in terms of setting up the formwork, but the result is worth it.

  • Markup is being done. But in this case, it is better to take one more step that will simplify the bookmark. At a distance of 15 cm, you need to make another octagon and pull the fishing line around the perimeter. So get two figures, between which excavation will be carried out.
  • The trench is dug to a depth of 30 cm in two layers, sand and gravel are backfilled.
  • The next step is setting up the formwork. Its individual parts must be made according to the size of each of the faces, in which case everything will work out as it should.
  • You can strengthen it with the help of jibs, which at one end will rest against the formwork, and at the other end against a clogged peg.
  • It is important to observe the horizontal and vertical angle of the plane.
  • A metal crate or building rubble is laid inside.
  • All contents are poured with concrete mortar.
  • The top is pulled together and removed so that later the racks can be on the same level.
  • Care for the finished base in the first stages is the same as described above.

If the base slab is not planned to be tiled, then the surface can be made more attractive. To do this, it is necessary to sprinkle a fresh solution with dry cement and carefully walk with a rail. Thus, the so-called ironing process is carried out.

wooden gazebo project

Those dimensions that will be given in the described decision can be taken as basic or proportionally increased in accordance with the territory planned for development. To perform the work you will need the following tools:

  • Miter saw;
  • manual circular saw;
  • square;
  • level;
  • roulette;
  • ladder;
  • screwdriver;
  • fixing material;
  • belt sander (optional)
  • marking tool.

From the material will be needed:

  • timber with a size of 10 × 10 cm (or 15 × 15 cm);
  • edged board 10 × 5 cm (or 15 × 5 cm);
  • board for lathing under the roof (purchased for a specific material);
  • roofing material.

All work must begin with the installation of the floor. This is important so that it is convenient to move later when installing the remaining parts. For a foundation of blocks, piles and columns, the sequence of work is described below.

Installation of the grillage. This is a wooden base that will tie all the supporting elements together and become the starting point for the entire structure. If a rectangular structure is mounted, then there are usually no particular difficulties, but in the case of this option, you will have to sweat a little. 8 pieces of timber are being prepared. Their size should correspond to the length of one of the edges plus an overlap of 5 cm. Using a miter saw, it is necessary to cut the edges at an angle of 22.5 °. If this is done with a conventional hacksaw, then the calculation can be made as follows. With a beam size of 10 × 10 cm, a line is drawn at a distance of 10 cm from the edge. When viewed from above, it looks like a square. For this figure, it is necessary to divide the lower side into 2 parts and lower the line from the upper corner of the end to this mark. This will be the required angle. It is very important to comply with it so that the entire structure can be well joined. You can connect all the elements together with a half joint. To do this, for each of the beams, a notch is made on the edge for half of its thickness and for the width on which the adjacent element will lie.

It is better to fasten them with hex-head screws (“grouses” or HEX).

Before placing the base on the concrete structure, it is necessary to lay the waterproofing. For this, roofing material or bicrost is used. They are necessary so that moisture from the supports is not transferred to the wood and it does not rot. Fixation is carried out using bolts to metal or anchors to concrete. In this case, you need to be careful that the fastening material does not get into the screws that fasten the grillage.

Log installation. For supporting elements in this case, boards for the thickness of the grillage will be used. You can install them in two ways. Everything will depend on what pattern the subsequent flooring will be carried out. If it is just an edged board that fits parallel across the entire area, then the simplest option will do. To do this, 8 elements are installed from each face to the middle. At the same time, they can be fixed to the grillage through with the help of self-tapping screws or metal corners. All of them converge towards the middle, fit on the central beam or column, which were provided for this purpose. After that, they are connected by curved metal strips on the inside. If the laying will be carried out in a circle, then you will have to complicate your task a little. All the same 8 elements will be laid, but they will be attached to the wooden base in the corners. In order for the docking to take place at the highest level, then at the ends it will be necessary to make cuts in the form of an isosceles triangle, the upper angle of which is 45 °. At the same time, it fits perfectly on the corresponding one in the grillage. Fastening is carried out using metal corners. In the middle, the beams are reduced in the same way as described above.

Additionally, a jumper is made approximately in the middle of each leg, it is connected to the corresponding side of the base with the help of another segment.

In another option, you can not suffer with washing down the lag in this way. But for this, at the stage of building the foundation, it is necessary to provide additional supports. They will need 3 in the middle of the structure. If this was provided, then it will be possible to install three parallel logs between two of the sides of the octagon, perpendicular jumpers are mounted to stiffen it.

The surface is being laid. If this is a circular solution, then each plank from the ends must be cut at an angle of 22.5 °, in which case they will be perfectly joined and a beautifully shaped base will be obtained. In the case when the boards are laid parallel across the entire space, then after the installation is completed, they must be cut so that they are flush with the grillage. You can fasten them with wood screws or nails to the logs that were mounted earlier.

The floor for the slab foundation option can be made later by laying tiles or other flooring. For a tape base, you can tamp the entire space inside with sand. But this should not be done to the top, but with a gap for laying paving slabs. It is located inside, and the walls of the base serve as a kind of stops that prevent spreading.

Finishing does not make sense for the time being, because. the main work is still ahead. The next step is to mount the frame:

Racks for strip and slab foundations are installed directly on the base, without a wooden bottom trim. But for this it will be necessary to provide waterproofing for the posts. Their lower part, to a height of 10 cm, can be wrapped in bicrost or roofing material, or simply make linings from this material.

metal gazebo project

Perhaps someone decides for themselves it is more appropriate to build a metal gazebo. For this option, you need a profile pipe 50 × 30 mm. The total length that will take to create the frame and bench stands will be approximately 100 m, as well as 6 sheets. From the tool you need:

  • Bulgarian;
  • welding machine;
  • roulette;
  • consumables for power tools;
  • square;
  • building level ;
  • pipe bender;
  • drill;
  • riveter;
  • miter saw for metal.

The structure can be installed on any of the listed foundations. The manufacturing process will be as follows:

  • With the help of a grinder, 12 blanks 1.25 m long are made. They will be needed to create the upper and lower bases. For arched elements, 8 parts of 4.7 m are cut.
  • Each of the 12 blanks must be cut off the end at an angle of 22.5 °. This can be done with a miter saw or with a grinder. Angle calculations are made as described for the wooden beams of the grillage.
  • Using a welding machine, two identical octagonal frames are made.
  • Arched arcs are made with a pipe bender. They need to be made in such a way that even racks up to a semicircle have a size of 1.5 m, and the distance between them is 1.2 m. racks.
  • At the base, between two opposite sides, two strips are welded to the full length. Two more jumpers are attached perpendicular to them, which will ensure the rigidity of the structure.
  • Prepared arcs are fixed to the lower octagon. Between them there is a gap of 10 cm. It is necessary in order to make additional jumpers. Their role can be decorative patterned products from a strip of metal.
  • The required angle of the roof is determined.
  • 8 elements are cut, which will serve as support strips for roofing. Their upper ends are cut under an isosceles triangle with an angle at the top of 45 °.
  • They are attached to the second octagon and welded together to form a monolithic structure that will resemble a pyramid.
  • The resulting structure is welded onto the installed arches.
  • With the help of prepared sheets of metal tiles, the roof is sewn up. Holes of a suitable size are drilled and fastened with rivets. You can use special tile self-tapping screws with a rubber stop and a hex head.
  • At the level of 1 m from the base, jumpers are made in the arches. Subsequently, they will serve as the upper support for the back of the bench.
  • To organize the seats on the racks, sections of the profile pipe are fixed perpendicularly. To have additional support, it is necessary to make oblique supports.

Finishing

The first step is to make sure that the material from which the project was made is protected from the effects of various weather conditions. In this case, the metal is cleaned of rust or treated with a special compound that removes it. The next layer is applied primer and top coat. With regard to wood, the process will be a little more troublesome. The entire structure will need to be sanded with a belt or eccentric machine. If it is necessary to change the shade, a stain is opened. The raised fibers are polished again. Three coats of varnish are applied. After the first two, you also need to walk with fine sandpaper to improve adhesion.

The best option would be a yacht or other composition for outdoor use.

To make it comfortable to be inside, you need to take care of the benches. Preparation for them must be made at the stage of erection of the frame. Special supports can be provided, for example as described for the metal version. Edged board for flooring is carefully sanded, the ends are cut at an angle of 22.5 °. Their size should be such that they lie on half of the support. They are processed in the same way as the frame. Wooden backrests are installed at a suitable height.

Well, if the table shape will also have 8 faces. This will allow it to fit perfectly into the interior. The optimal width will be a size of 1.5 m. In this case, it will be convenient to reach the middle without additional effort. To strengthen it in the metal version, you will need to weld the frame, and lower the racks to the jumpers that go along the base. For a wooden structure, you can order a table that will not be fixed inside, but will be a separate element.

The side walls are decorated in any interesting way. It can be a wooden lattice, which is made of boards of small thickness, they are located one in relation to the other at an angle of 45 °. If desired, the bottom can be closed completely to the middle, and double-glazed windows can be mounted in the remaining openings. This will allow you to use the building in any weather, even with strong winds. To protect yourself from small bloodsuckers, you can cover the entire area with a mosquito net. Fresh air will quietly flow into the middle, but insects will not be able to get inside.

For an evening pastime, you need to think about what kind of lighting will be in the gazebo. The most economical option are LEDs. In principle, if the roof is made with high quality and does not leak, then an ordinary lamp or chandelier will do. But due to high humidity, the internal contacts will oxidize very quickly. To prevent this, sealed products have been developed with an IP67 or IP68 rating. They are not afraid of water drops or dust. The main connection can be made with a double braided cable. This, for example, can be VVG. It has a monolithic copper core. In order for it not to sag, it is tied to a cable. There is a type of wire in which the metal cord is already soldered into the outer braid. There should be a separate machine in the shield, with the help of which, if necessary, it will be possible to de-energize the gazebo. Switches and sockets are matched to match so that they do not stand out too much. They will be outdoor installation. It is desirable that both switches and sockets are also sealed.

We are sure that having received the basic information and guidance on how to build this type of gazebo, you will be able to cope with the task. There are no two identical projects. Therefore, we are interested in what happened in your case and how the finished gazebo looks on the site. Share the results of your work in the comments to the article.

Gazebo construction in progress:

A gazebo in the country or in the courtyard of the house is a place for tea drinking and gatherings in the summer. In buildings slightly larger, it can be installed. Then you can think about glazing it: barbecue in winter is a rare pleasure, and the barbecue will simultaneously warm the air inside. They usually start with simpler and cheaper models: they build a gazebo with their own hands, most often there is not enough time. Hence the choice. We will talk further about how to do it correctly, about materials, methods, methods of construction.

A little theory: what are gazebos

Nothing complicated: let's talk about the types of gazebos and the materials from which they are built. First of all, buildings of this type are divided into open (summer) and closed (glazed). This does not mean at all that there are only two of these types: there are also combinations with removable glazing, and there are also awnings made of transparent film, which, if necessary, are stretched over the frame of the gazebo. Another option - some of the walls are closed, some are open. Choose the one that is closer to you.

With or without floor

More gazebos can be divided into those with and without a floor. Gazebos without a floor are placed on a prepared platform made of paving slabs, filled with concrete, lined with paving stones, etc. Although no one bothers to build directly on the grass. Only the framework must be treated accordingly: direct contact with the soil requires enhanced protection measures. If we are talking about a wooden arbor, it is impregnated with rot and fungal infections, if it is made of metal, it is treated with a rust preventative.

Pergolas with a floor suggest the presence of a foundation. Most often do columns. They can be folded from brick or buta, poured from concrete, put foundation blocks. If you have large flat-topped boulders to lean on, use those. But all this - if the building is light - on a frame made of wood or metal. required, albeit a shallow laying (20-30 cm below the level of the fertile layer).

This is also a gazebo made of wood, but with a wooden floor. That's why she's up on her feet. The upper part is originally finished in it - the binding from processed thin boards looks great

If you want to tile the floor in the gazebo for a summer residence, you will have to fill in the insulated slab with concrete, and put frost-resistant types of tiles on it. Moreover, the insulated slab must be at least 50 cm wider in all directions than the building on it. And these 50 cm are made at a slight slope so that moisture drains. This is actually, which will not allow the soil to freeze under the gazebo. So the tile will not turn out and it will not crack.

materials

The frame of garden or country arbors is made of three materials:

  • wooden bursa or round timber of small diameter;
  • steel pipe (from a profile it is more convenient);
  • polymer pipes (PVC).

The only material that does not require protection is polymers. They do not rot, are not affected by fungi. Some species tolerate freezing and thawing without much harm. So they can stay over the winter. That's just to make the gazebo for giving PVC pipes durable, they need a solid diameter and with a thick wall. And even in this case, you don’t need to rely on the frame: you will have to install such furniture that will not put pressure on the plastic. Well, the brazier will need to be put aside (if provided).

In order for a wooden garden gazebo to remain attractive for a long time, all the wood that will be used in construction must first be coated with a protective impregnation in one or two layers. The cheapest today are the SENEZH and Usadba impregnations, and the reviews about them and their protective properties are very good. These manufacturers also have tinting compositions.

This is the whole theory in a nutshell. There may be some other special cases: there are many materials, as well as the possibilities of their combination. We will publish the most interesting original gazebos from non-standard materials at the end of the article. And now - practice.

How to make a gazebo with your own hands

Most often, we build garden arbors made of wood on our own. The second place in popularity is with metal ones. Everyone else does it infrequently. Brick and from other building materials due to the fact that they are expensive, from PVC pipes - because there is no confidence in the material.

We will analyze an example of building a frame gazebo made of wood. But even if you are going to make it out of metal or PVC, the procedure will be the same. Another principle of connecting frame materials, but otherwise, everything is the same.

When working with wood, it must first be treated with antibacterial and flame retardant (reducing the combustibility of the material) impregnations. Only after the compositions have dried can you work. If this is not done, the wood will darken very quickly and lose its attractiveness.

Drawing

Two similar projects were implemented, of the same type: a quadrangular gazebo under a gable roof, only with different sizes and they were designed in different ways. A drawing of one of them, see the photo below.

Rectangular gazebo with a four-slope roof (in one project, the roof was replaced with a gable roof)

Step by step instructions with photo

It all starts with site preparation. If there is sod, it is removed, and the fertile layer is also removed. If this is not done, the roots, greens and all leftovers will rot. On sandy or sandy loamy soils, screenings, crushed stone or broken construction debris are poured into the pit, everything is rammed, and sand is covered from above. On clay soils, on which water does not drain well, it is better to fill the pit and compact your own soil (clay, but without a fertile layer). Otherwise, water will accumulate and stagnate in the pit, which will lead to an unpleasant odor. Not what you need at all.

The choice of the type of foundation and the lower trim

If there is not much time, the fastest way is to install ready-made concrete blocks on a compacted pillow. More time will have to be spent if you fold brick columns, even more - pour them out of concrete. The distance between the supports should be no more than 1.5-2 meters. More specifically, it depends on the thickness of the timber from which you will make the strapping. Under a bar 100 * 100 mm, the distance is 1.5 meters, under a metal profile pipe 60 * 60 mm can be placed every 2 meters.

When all the supports are installed and level (use pegs, a stretched string and a building level), waterproofing is laid on them. This is roofing material or roofing felt, rolled up in two layers, or bituminous mastic, which is also impregnated twice with the surface. Then the lower trim of the gazebo from the timber is laid. Everything is hammered together with nails of at least 150 mm in length or connected with wood screws. For greater strength, corners are used (if you find reinforced ones - as in the photo - it will be great). Although the gazebo is built initially as a summer arbor, after some time the majority decides to glaze it. That's when a margin of safety is needed.

Rack installation

At this stage of the construction of the garden gazebo, it is important to place the racks strictly vertically. It is undesirable to use the building level: it has a large error, especially for household models, which are usually used by developers. Therefore, we take the good old plumb line and put it on it. Check the vertical from two adjoining sides so that the racks do not fall anywhere.

Fix the racks with jibs (see the photo). If they interfere with you in the future, you can make a temporary option, as in the photo on the left. If the sheathing below is opaque, do it thoroughly: cut down the beam at 45 ° (it is more convenient to use a miter box) and nail it with two or three nails obliquely. Check if it has gone astray after each mowing installation. These small triangles give rigidity to the whole structure and it stops staggering.

Two projects and two ways to set the corner bars correctly. On the left - temporary jibs, after installing the strapping they will be removed, on the right - permanent

Top trim and floor boards

Further, after all the racks are installed and fixed, the upper harness is mounted. There shouldn't be any problems here. To increase the reliability of the connection, use the corners. Racks, by the way, can also be fixed on the sides with corners. Especially if there are no permanent mowings. Otherwise, your design from lateral loads may develop.

After that, the floor boards are laid. It is very desirable to treat them on all sides with antibacterial impregnation for wood in direct contact with the ground. Senezh has two such squads. One of them is called "Senezh", the other "Senezh-Ultra". They differ in that "Ultra" does not stain the wood, and "Senezh" gives it a greenish color. If you cover everything with a dark stain, the greens are invisible, such a composition is not suitable for a light one.

After laying the floor, it is better to paint the boards, otherwise, by the time you finish the construction, they will get dirty. Therefore, take the time to apply varnish or oil-based tinting paints - the best option for outdoor wood. Do not confuse with oil paints! These compounds are often called wood oil, because the base is oil, to which protective substances and coloring pigments are added. As a result, the wood takes on a different shade (even pink or green, if you so desire), but the texture becomes clearer, and not painted over.

Medium strapping

The next step is to install the middle strapping, if there is one for the project. A quarter is taken out under the beam in the racks - a small recess, in this case, with a beam of 100 * 100 mm, a quarter is 25 mm.

Making a roof

While the frame of the wooden gazebo dries, you assemble the truss system. It is a triangle (see the photo below).

They are installed on the frame. This project does not include a roof overhang. Therefore, they are simply placed strictly vertically and nailed directly to the beam of the upper trim. Such a roof is easy to install, but the rain will pour heavily inside even with a slight wind.

If you do with overhangs (the roof protrudes beyond the perimeter of the gazebo), then in the beam you will have to cut out “seats” under the rafters. They look like triangles (see photo).

Two options are shown. In fact, there are more of them, but since the roof is small, the first, the simplest, will be enough. In order not to mess around with each triangle, sawing the wood at the top, make a template. Take a piece of board, cut out a hole of the desired shape, try it on, check it, adjust it. Then you just put it in turn to all the rafters, draw around with a finely sharpened pencil and cut it out. What's the best way to cut? Electric jigsaw, but you can also use a hand saw. Having prepared all the triangles, throw them up and install (with long nails obliquely from the spirit of the sides, you can still fix them with corners). Before fixing, do not forget to check the vertical and horizontal.

After installing the triangles, the crossbars are stuffed: two on both sides of the ridge, and then with a step that depends on the type and type of roofing material. Under, for example, a solid crate is generally needed. Then the entire truss system is painted. And then the roofing material is mounted (in this case, a metal profile).

Finishing

The bottom trim is nailed last. In this project, lining was used, which was then painted with wood oil.

This country gazebo is from the category of "simple, fast, cheap." Having it as an example, you can make something of your own, more, in your opinion, attractive. Here, for example, what happened according to the same project, but in a different design: sheathing of the veranda from a blockhouse, which is painted in a light color, and the frame is dark.

And also - such an option: country gazebos for this project turn out to be completely different

We will lay out several more complex projects with drawings and dimensions below, and even more interesting photos, but without drawings at the very bottom. Might be useful to someone...

Sketches of gazebos with drawings and dimensions

Available sizes can be scaled up or down proportionally. It is important that you understand that with a significant increase in size, a more powerful frame is required. Do not forget about this, and everything will work out for you: a gazebo made by yourself will be beautiful and reliable.

simple wooden gazebo

Almost the same project, but with different dimensions: the upper point of the roof is raised higher, which makes it visually lighter. The gazebo is also quadrangular, the roof is hipped.

When constructing such a roof, the most problematic are two places (nodes) indicated by circles. How to do them, see the photo below.

Large gazebo on the foundation

Before you build this gazebo is required. Its parameters depend on the soil, on the material that you are going to use for the frame: metal or wood, and what you are going to glaze it with. In general, the width of the tape is about 20 cm, the depth of occurrence is 20-30 cm deeper than the level of the fertile layer. On heaving soils, it is better to do the so-called.

Drawing gazebo-swing

The swing arbor requires special attention: it is fixed very firmly so that the resulting variable loads do not loosen and turn the structure over. To do this, you can extend the legs down, dig a hole under them, fill them with rubble, tamp, and then pour everything with liquid concrete. If you make the frame from a pipe, there are no questions; for a tree, you can use “P”-shaped fasteners with a pin mounted in the lower part. Here it can be bent and poured with concrete.

For even greater reliability, crossbars are attached to the legs, which turn out to be slightly recessed into the ground. They are hammered with U-shaped staples.

This option is both stone and wood. Oprahs made of timber are installed on columns made of rubble. The style is the same - dried trees are used as supports.

Do you own a summer cottage, a garden, do you want to become the owner of a small cozy gazebo? This open-closed building promotes privacy, serves as a great place for family summer dinners, tea parties in the fresh air, shelters you from the rain on a hot afternoon.

First you need to select a project. A polygonal design is not as easy to install as a rectangular one, but the effect obtained later will make you forget about these difficulties.

The wooden octagonal arbor looks the most attractive and compact. If there is a drawing available, then it will not be difficult to build an octagonal gazebo with your own hands. The process will take no more than 2 days, provided that all the necessary supplies and tools have been prepared in advance. If you are limited in funds, you can, in accordance with personal preferences, order a drawing of the structure from a construction company or buy ready-made designs for octagonal arbors.

A professionally executed drawing of an octagonal gazebo will be inexpensive and will serve as a competent guide to action. With this drawing, you can realize your own ideas for the shape and design of the planned building.

Choose a place

When choosing a place for a gazebo, do not forget to take into account an important point: if a barbecue, fireplace or stove is planned, then the gazebo should be located at a sufficient distance from other buildings. Be sure to indicate when ordering a project that you want to install a brazier. This is necessary for the correct calculation of the dimensions of the future building. After all, the brazier has its own dimensions, which should clearly fit into the interior of the room.

Before starting work, you should decide what dimensions the gazebo will have, what material the roof is planned from, the gazebo itself. The most acceptable eco-friendly option is a wooden gazebo.

Work progress

Before embarking on the implementation of the project, study the photographs of finished wooden arbors, their design.

Your actions should be in stages:

  • Viewing photo and video materials.
  • The choice that's right for you.
  • Order or independent production of a drawing, a project of your gazebo.
  • Procurement of materials and tools.
  • Construction installation.

Materials and tools

Having a project in hand, as well as having minimal skills in working with wooden materials, guided by step-by-step instructions, you will undoubtedly fulfill your dream - building an octagonal gazebo with your own hands according to drawings and sizes.

It is important to choose the right place so that the dimensions of the octagonal gazebo fit clearly into the landscape. Examine the detailed schematic representation of your own property. The main buildings should be presented on a diagram in a good scale: a house, a barn, a bathhouse, the location of garden trees and paths. Everything must be functional. Closed, shady, secluded corners of your site are perfect for a gazebo.

Materials required for the installation of the building:

  • concrete for the installation of tubular foundation formwork;
  • timber for the construction of racks;
  • bars (logs) for the floor;
  • batten;
  • rafter beam;
  • roof material (roofing material or tiles);
  • metal parts for fastening (nails, bolts, self-tapping screws).

Do not forget that each wooden part must undergo a phased antifungal treatment with a special impregnation, since the gazebo will be outdoors all the time. Metal parts are best purchased from stainless steel.

Prepare the necessary tool:

  • saw, drill with a set of drills;
  • tape measure, marking pencil, hammer;
  • shovel;
  • garden earth drill for digging holes for poles.
  • gloves, goggles, ladder.

Proceed to the phased construction of an octagonal gazebo with your own hands.

The foundation can be capital (concrete) or wooden (from timber). If the plans include the subsequent movement of the building, then it is better to choose a wooden option. How to install tubular formwork under the foundation can be seen in the photographs. Then a beam is laid - the base under the floorboard.

Wooden structures require careful handling. To avoid cracks in the timber, first carefully drill holes in the place where the screws are screwed in. Fix the corner fasteners with metal brackets.

The walls of the gazebo are built quickly according to the existing drawing.

It is better to install the rafters for mounting the roof of the gazebo in pairs, evenly mounting on opposite sides. Do not forget about the parts of the rafters protruding beyond the contour of the gazebo. When the roof frame is ready, you should start covering. First, the roof is sheathed with plywood pieces cut with a saw. They are fixed to the rafters with stainless steel screws. If there is no plywood, ordinary boards will do. Do not forget to pre-treat them with a stain that protects the tree from decay. Then the wooden roof is covered with tiles or other roofing material.

Having finished with the roof, proceed to the installation of the fence of the building. If you wish, you can give free rein to your imagination and give the fence various shapes, not forgetting to take into account the dimensions. Everything should be harmonious, pleasing to the eye. It is important at the end of the work to close up all the extra holes with a special wooden putty. After complete drying, sand the wood surface well.

Completion of work

Consider how to decorate the created structure. There are very beautiful decor options with forged products, wooden lace, and original lighting. You can harmoniously arrange the original plants and flowers around the perimeter. The octagonal gazebo is already beautiful in its own design, a competent decor will give it even more chic and harmony.

Wooden octagonal arbors are currently in great demand. Such arbors have many advantages, one of which is the best streamlining of corners. Thanks to such streamlined corners, there is a lot of space in the gazebo and a company of 15 people can easily fit in it. In the gazebo you can relax at any time of the year. It can be both glazed and made open. A half-closed gazebo will protect from the wind. It is very important that the gazebo is made from natural materials. For the gazebo, you can use material such as oak, alder or pine. The gazebo, made of natural materials, exudes a pleasant natural smell, which has a positive effect on the nervous system of the vacationer, relaxing him as much as possible. You can also build a gazebo with a barbecue. In bad weather, you can gather in the gazebo with a barbecue with your friends or family and cook a delicious dinner.

The construction of an octagonal gazebo is arranged in such a way that its installation does not take much time. You can build such a gazebo with your own hands with a minimum number of tools. First of all, you need to draw a drawing and choose a place where the gazebo will stand. The drawing will help build a gazebo without defects and complex modifications. So, a place has been chosen, a drawing has been drawn, you can begin to build a gazebo.

The easiest way to get a beautiful front lawn

Of course, you have seen the perfect lawn in the movies, on the alley, and perhaps on the neighbor's lawn. Those who have ever tried to grow a green area in their area will no doubt say that this is a huge job. The lawn requires careful planting, care, fertilization, watering. However, only inexperienced gardeners think so, professionals have long known about the innovative tool - liquid turf AquaGrazz.

Location selection

First, the layout of the design plan is made on the site where the gazebo will stand. In the middle of the site that we have chosen, we drive in a stake. To this peg we tie a cord or rope with another peg. Using the second stake, we draw a circle, which we divide into 8 equal segments. Moreover, 1 of the segments will coincide with the entrance to the future gazebo. When we combine the ends of the segments, we get a design project. The diameter of the circle will be approximately 3.2 meters.

It is necessary that the center of the site be convex so that water does not get there.

If you decide to build a structure with your own hands, it is recommended to make a columnar foundation. To do this, it is necessary to drill holes at the top and in the center of the octagon, about 70 cm deep and 15 cm in diameter. Pipes are inserted and cemented into these holes. The diameter of the pipe is at least 15 cm. The pipes must be of the same size as you plan to make the gazebo.

The photo below shows an approximate layout of the territory for an octagonal gazebo.

Construction drawing

Align the top of the pipes horizontally with a level. A reinforcement bar is inserted inside each of the pipes. The diameter of the rod is about 12 mm. It should protrude from the pipe by 15 cm. Then the pipes must be filled with concrete. He must freeze. When the concrete hardens, the base of our gazebo is ready.
It is mandatory to use waterproofing on the base. Along the perimeter of the gazebo lay logs from beams 50x150 mm. On the sides, where the joints are, cuts are made and a hole is drilled through which the logs are put on the frame.
Then the logs are laid from the middle of the base to the tops of the polygon and fixed with nails. In the middle, the lags are also connected to each other. The basis of the floor, which turned out, is sheathed with planks. Sheathing is produced either in a circle or from one side to the other. The photo below shows an example of laying the base of a future gazebo.

Mounting the gazebo frame

After the basis of our design is ready, you can begin to mount the frame of our gazebo:

  • Install roof poles. These are beams 100x100 mm. Then choose one pillar and make a hole according to the diameter of the frame. Then the pillars must be planted on the rods of the frame and attached with iron corners. The upper shares of the pillars are aligned in height and fixed with temporary braces.
  • Attach a rail in the middle of the lower ends of the logs. Rail - 50x50 mm. Similar rails are attached to the sides of the logs, then railings are attached to them. This gives the structure rigidity.
  • Using a board measuring 20x100 mm, punch a line on top of the logs. Boards are adjusted at the corners of the joints.
  • The supports are made from the same boards as the logs, with a 30 cm extension outside the gazebo. Inserts are made in the supports (5 cm). Then it is necessary to strengthen the connection with an iron corner. Where there is a joint, the supports must be sawn vertically and adjusted to each other, then secured with nails and iron corners. The roof must be at a sufficient slope, as snow can ruin it in winter.

In the photo below you can see the main parameters of the future gazebo.

Arbor decoration

The base of the roof must be sheathed with boards. Then waterproofing should be carried out (as in the photo below). After waterproofing, the roof itself is laid. It can be made from tiles, slate or iron. A copper roof looks the most attractive and best fits the style. Inside the roof can be lined with clapboard. You should also think about lighting. Can be installed in the center of the gazebo or between the pillars of the lights. To avoid mosquitoes during summer picnics, you can use a mosquito net. Otherwise, it all depends on your taste and the purpose of the gazebo. Here you can set a table or barbecue, arrange a flower bed or equip a small greenhouse. All in your hands.

For a quiet family holiday in a summer cottage of small size, a garden gazebo made of natural wood is perfect. As a basis for construction, you can take the project of an octagonal gazebo, which, due to its unusual shape, compact size and natural materials, will harmoniously fit into the concept of almost any garden plot of a country house.

Features of the construction of an octagonal gazebo

Recently, octagonal arbors, captivating with their original technical solution and the availability of materials for their manufacture, have become widespread in the sector of individual construction.

This article will describe the main positive qualities of such a building, thanks to which it has gained wide popularity among summer residents. In addition, the reader will be presented with step-by-step instructions and a detailed description of how to make an octagonal gazebo on their own in their summer cottage.

Start of construction

First of all, you need to look at the site plan, choose a place to build and prepare a drawing of an octagonal gazebo that you plan to build. At the first stage of construction, it is necessary to make a columnar foundation from asbestos-cement pipes, on which the entire structure of the gazebo will be based.

  1. On the prepared territory, remove the fertile layer of soil and use building sand to mark out. Along the contour of the future building, you need to draw a regular octagon of the desired size.
  2. At all corners, in the center and at half the distance from the center to the edge of the perimeter in the diametrical plane (see figure), use a garden drill D150 mm to drill holes in the ground to a depth of ~ 1m.
  3. Insert an asbestos-cement pipe D150 mm into the holes obtained, so that its upper part rises 200-250 mm above the soil surface.
  4. Align the upper ends of the pipes in line with the horizon, and make the central pipe 100 mm higher than the rest.
  5. Inside, along the center line of each pipe, install a reinforcing bar D12 mm. In the central and corner pipes, it should rise above the upper end by 200 mm. After that, fill the pipes to the top with concrete mix.

Advice! For additional protection, each asbestos-cement pipe of the foundation must be covered with bituminous mastic, and for waterproofing the base, one or two layers of roofing material should be laid on top of each column.

The base of the gazebo

After the concrete has hardened in the foundation columns, you can begin to assemble and install the base of the gazebo. It is an octagonal frame structure made of wooden beams with additional cross beams.

  1. Saw a beam 100x100 into equal segments of the required size in the amount of 8 pcs. with allowance for length.
  2. On each side of the eight bars, make cuts to connect them to each other half a tree at an angle of 135 °. Also prepare two beams of transverse beams for connecting half a tree.
  3. Drill a hole D12 mm in the center of the corner joint of adjacent beams.
  4. Perform a control assembly of the lower trim and, making sure that the dimensions are correct, install it on the concrete pillars of the foundation, placing each beam on the protruding reinforcing bar. Connect all elements of the base to each other using self-tapping screws.
  5. Install on the base a wooden flooring made of boards 40 mm thick. In the right places, drill the boards for the passage of the reinforcing bar.

Base frame assembly

After making the base, you can proceed with the installation of vertical supports and the upper transverse strapping, which should result in a rigid structure.

  1. From a bar 100x100 mm, you need to make 8 supports with a height of 2100 mm and one with a height of 2800 mm. Using a planer, chamfer 10 mm at the corners.
  2. At the bottom end of each beam, drill a hole D12 mm 120 mm deep.
  3. Install the vertical supports in the corners and in the center of the base, pushing them with holes on the reinforcing bar and fix them with self-tapping screws using metal corners.
  4. Align the supports according to the level and, if necessary, fix with temporary wooden braces.
  5. On the upper edge of the supports, install a horizontal roof trim from a 50x100 mm board. The end of each board must be cut at an angle of 22.5 °, adjusted in length and fixed with self-tapping screws to a vertical support.
  6. To the vertical supports to the required level, fix the wall sheathing of the gazebo, which in the simplest version can be made of a board 30 mm thick. From the same board you can make window sills.

Roof manufacturing

The roof is the most labor-intensive and critical moment of construction, which is complicated by the fact that all work must be carried out at a height.

  1. From 20 mm plywood, cut a circle with a diameter of 350-400 mm and fix it with glue and self-tapping screws in the middle of the central vertical support.
  2. From a board 70x100, make rafters in the amount of 8 pcs.
  3. Make appropriate cuts in them so that the upper part of the rafter rests on the central circle fixed on the pole, and the lower part lies on the boards of the transverse strapping of the vertical supports. Thus, install and secure all 8 rafters with screws.
  4. From a 25 mm board, make and install a roof sheathing on the rafters, cutting each board at an angle of 22.5 ° and connecting them in the center of the rafter. Fix all elements of the roof with self-tapping screws until it is adequately rigid.
  5. Lay a roof of any suitable waterproofing material on top of the crate. The most aesthetic and convenient to use is considered flexible shingles.

Conclusion

Finally, it should be noted that, despite the simplicity of the design during construction, you need to carefully look at the drawings of the octagonal gazebo with your own hands, which you make.
