After reading construction forums on working with wood, I decided to experiment on cones. Or rather, lighten them up. For the bleaching procedure, something containing chlorine was needed. I used whiteness, there was also domestos in the arsenal, but I decided to try it some other time.

What you need to whiten bumps

  • The cones themselves
  • Glass jar with lid
  • weight
  • White or chlorine bleach

It is necessary to carry out bleaching in a well-ventilated area, preferably with gloves.

I have the most ordinary cones, collected in the forest.

We fall asleep cones in a jar.

Fill with white. I filled it completely, but you can pre-soak the bumps, they will shrink and then the consumption of whiteness or bleach will be less.

Close tightly with a lid.

Cones float to be completely immersed in the liquid, they need to be pressed down with something. I have it empty a plastic cup from under children's curds.

We leave it overnight, it's not scary if it stays longer. We merge the whiteness - I had it brown, it "took" the paint from the cones. We wash the cones and dry them. In the process of drying, they open up. I put it in the microwave for a couple of minutes. This is how the bumps turned out.

They turned out to be especially blond, but the result is visible when compared with an unbleached bump.

New Year holidays are special days that give us a lot of bright emotions and impressions. And it is not surprising that many creative people I want to do something unusual for this event. It could also be some gifts, created do it yourself, and home decoration, and Christmas costumes for children ... But how do you want something special decorate the interior your home!

New Year is the smell of tangerines, crackers, fireworks, sweet gifts and, of course, a Christmas tree. And what is a tree without cones?

We are offering to you interesting idea: bump whitening.

For this purpose, it is better Pine cones . Spruce, despite the fact that they are soft enough, for some reason, they practically do not bleach. So, walking through the forest or park, get some pine cones.

bleach bumps can be White or other bleach. In some articles on bleaching bumps It is recommended to dilute the bleach with water in a ratio of 1:1. For achievement best result we will not dilute the bleach.

When I bleached the bumps, I decided to try a few bleaches. The first one is Perox.

So we take suitable container, put the cones in it and fill them with bleach. This bleach releases oxygen, so there is an increase in the volume of the liquid. It is better not to close the jar with cones tightly and put it in the sink.

Buds "languished" in Perox for about 10 hours, but they did not bleach too much.

So I decided to experiment with Whiteness some more.

We leave the cones in Whiteness for about 5 hours. During this time, the cones will close. Therefore, if you want the cones to be open, then they must be dried well. You can lay them out on a battery or put them in the oven (on minimum temperature). By the way, don't forget to wash the buds after removing them from the bleach.

Here are the cones after drying:

By the way, while the buds are in the bleach, it seems that they are not bleached. However, after drying, the buds look much lighter. Unfortunately, as I wrote earlier, when wet, the cones close and that part of the scales that is inside the cone practically does not stain.

In addition, the cones can also be painted acrylic paints. I used pearl paints (white, gold and bronze).

Cones can be painted with a brush or you can use a sponge or foam rubber for this purpose:

Good luck with your work and Happy New Year! :)

How to whiten simple bumps on your own and why do it? Pine and fir cones are one of the most popular materials not only for school and kindergarten crafts, but also for interior decor. From them you can make a garland, seasonal interior decoration, Christmas decorations, use them in decoration New Year's gifts, production of door wreaths.

How to whiten cones with your own hands: a master class with a step-by-step description of the work

If you are determined to acquire bleached cones on the farm, then you need to prepare for this process. This will require:

  • cones
  • glass jar
  • bleach on chlorine, for example, Belizna, or Svetlana
  • gloves and mask

Work process. The cones need to be folded into glass jar. It is better to work further with gloves and a mask, since the bleach smells very strongly, and you can get burns of the mucous membrane and damage the skin of the hands. Next, the cones are filled with whiteness, if necessary, if not all the cones are covered with liquid, you can add water. But the more concentrated the bleach solution is, the lighter the resulting buds will be.

If possible, it is best to put a load on the cones. After a while, the buds will "fold", this is normal, and comes from an excess of moisture. In this state, the cones should be left for a day, no less. You can leave it for two or three days, but then you need to shake the jar periodically, stirring the liquid inside.

After the cones are infused, the bleach from the can must be drained. This must be done in a dense mask, because the smell will be very strong, and in addition to chlorine, a very pungent coniferous smell will be added to it. The cones must be thoroughly rinsed several times, and again filled with water, this time not for a day, but for several hours. You need to rinse until the water runs clean and clear, without brown impurities.

The bleached buds can then be dried. It is best to do this in a natural way, spreading them out in a bright, ventilated place. The chlorine smell may linger at first, but as the buds dry it will go away. After this treatment, seeds will spill out of the cones. Therefore, before putting the material into action, you need to put all the cones in a bag, pull off the neck, and shake it properly, shaking out the seeds.

Let's take a look at the popular options for using bleached buds.

By by and large, with bleached buds, you can do the same thing as with regular buds. Simply bleached buds add a certain touch, charm and style.

If you have a lot of bumps different varieties and sizes, you can make a beautiful garland for the New Year from them. For this, in addition to cones, you will need:

  • ribbon or jute twine
  • glue gun or loops on screws, the so-called pins (used in the manufacture of jewelry)
  • ribbons for decoration
  • small pliers or pliers

In each cone, you need to make an attachment to the main thread. If you have pins at your disposal, then you need to screw such a part into each cone. A piece of twine is threaded into the ring and tied. The segments can be of different lengths, then the garland will be multi-tiered. If there are no pins, then on the top of each cone you need to glue a piece of twine onto hot glue. After each bump, tie to the main tape. On the basis of the cones, you can impose multi-colored bows. As an option - combine with a small Christmas balls or felt toys. Such a garland can decorate the room inside, or use it as a street decoration, for example, for a gazebo or veranda.

In addition, a garland with cones can be made real, with lanterns and lights. It is best to use diode bulbs, which practically do not heat up. With such a garland, you can intertwine a thread with cones, or you can leave a bouquet of cones, and already braid it with diode bulbs, and you get a kind of night light.

Christmas wreaths are a traditional decoration for doors in the West, but these colorful decor elements have managed to enter our lives. They are made quite simply. For this you need:

  • glue gun
  • cones in sufficient quantity
  • wreath base

With reverse side wreath base, a loop is glued, for which the wreath will be hung on a carnation. Pasting the base with cones begins from the central plane, gradually filling the entire area. Diversity and brightness can be given to such wreaths by diluting the cone abundance with nuts, acorns, artificial berries, ribbons and fir branches.

From pine cones you can make ... a Christmas tree! This will require a glue gun, a lot of bumps and a foam cone as a base. It is worth noting that it is best to work with foam and cones with thermal glue, since PVA glue will not give the necessary fixation, and varieties of the popular and reliable Moment glue completely corrode the foam.

In addition to New Year's and interior decorations, cones can also be used in the design of a themed wedding in winter time. They will look appropriate in the bride's bouquet, and in the design of tables and the hall in which the celebration will be held.

Video materials for clarity

On the new year holidays I want to decorate my house in a festive, beautiful and original way. Most give their preference to traditional decor - a Christmas tree, luminous garlands and inflatable balls. But sometimes you want something new and special, because New Year happens once a year. There are many options for decorating a room, and each of them involves the use of some auxiliary elements, For example, pine branches, cones or tree bark. Cones are very well suited for decorating any interior, and if you add coniferous branches to the decor, the apartment will not only be beautiful, but will also nice smell. For decoration, cones are not always used in their original form, many bleach them to make them original. Such a process does not require much effort, the main thing is to have patience and time to whiten the bumps, since this process is long.

Cones look very nice in any corner of the house, for example, you can place them together with fruits on the table, decorate them artificial Christmas tree or hang on ribbons near the entrance. But most likely, many will agree that the bumps are usually very dirty and their appearance does not allow them to be used for table decor and food. In this case, the bleaching process will be just right, because the bumps will get White color, after which they can be used in different decorations and for decorating dishes and a festive table.

How to whiten buds white

You can bleach the bumps different ways, but the most popular is whitening. However, you need to get ready for a long process right away, as the buds do not bleach the first time, and often they are so dirty and covered with resin that it will take long time to make them white.

Preparing buds for bleaching

In order for the buds to turn out beautiful and whiten well, you need to find beautiful, small buds, choose the cleanest ones. These buds will be the best to bleach. To begin with, all the cones are well cleaned, in this process the main thing is not to wet them, but to walk on a dry surface with a brush or a brush. It is better to take a thin brush, as you will need to clean the bumps between the scales, and they can be closed.

The main thing when choosing cones is to pay attention to their condition, they should be young, not rotten and as clean as possible. After all the cones are cleaned, they must be dried well, for this you can use a hairdryer, but it is better if they are on the battery all night. After drying, the scales will open well, and they can be cleaned again to get rid of the remaining sand.

How to remove resin from buds

So, for bleaching you will need a large jar, pipe cleaner and 3-4 bottles of bleach. Before bleaching the cones, they must be cleaned of resin. A pipe cleaner is suitable for this, as the lye corrodes the resin. Clean buds should be placed in a jar and filled with pipe cleaning solution, the ratio of which is 1:1 with water. Leaving the cones overnight in the solution, in the morning you can see that they have noticeably brightened, and the resin particles have been removed. The solution must be drained, and the cones should be sent back to dry on the battery.

How to bleach buds: the stage with whiteness

Next, cones are added to the jar and filled with whiteness, it does not need to be diluted with water, so just fill it with whiteness and shake the jar several times for 15 minutes. For health safety, a jar of whiteness should be stored outside, the main thing is that the temperature should not be below 10 degrees Celsius. After a while, you can see that the cones in the whiteness have closed again, and they should again stand the whole night in the jar. At the same time, the cones themselves go to the bottom, as they absorb moisture, they do not need to be pressed with anything.

In the morning, the cones are taken out and sent to the battery until they open. Then they turn white again. In principle, the whole result depends on the amount of time and patience of the person, there are many procedures for bleaching bumps, until the desired result is obtained. Every day you need to change the whiteness and dry the buds until they turn white. This method will whiten pine cones very well, as they have large scales. fir cones it is easier to bleach, as they are cleaner, but their scales do not open well, so you will have to try to achieve their complete whiteness.

Using corrector

If the buds have already turned white, but some parts of them still have not bleached, you can use the corrector, applying it pointwise to the dark areas. Also, the corrector can be fixed with hairspray, after which you can spray it on the bumps for complete whitening. artificial snow then they will become white and shiny. After bleaching, the cones can be hung on a Christmas tree, decorate an apartment, and a table. Cones collected together in one large jar will look very nice.
