Master class: Photo frame decor in a marine style. DIY marine photo frame That's all, the marine-style frame is ready

Let's start with the backstory....

When my son was very young, my husband became interested in photography. Bought a Canon camera. Large. Professional. Film. Digital didn't exist back then. Photos for those times were just great! And here is one of my favorites, Gleb against the backdrop of the night sea. Time has flown by!

My son is already 14, and the photo still wanders from frame to frame.

And I decided that I needed to make a good frame once and for all... to match the tone of the photo, so that it doesn’t take on a lot, doesn’t stand out, doesn’t obscure the child and, of course, be in nautical style. And I decided that I would call it "Secrets of the Sea".

Maybe someone will find this kind of activity boring or not to their liking, or maybe, on the contrary, they want to prolong their memories of the past vacation and do something similar .... I will be glad if my experience inspires you to create your real masterpiece!

I did not draw a sketch, as I usually do. The sketch was already in my head))) I just laid out everything that I have suitable for the sea on the table and started working.

It was very inconvenient to take pictures, because this time I did not have an assistant. Yes, it happened late at night. But I managed to turn on the camera mode "for shooting under lighting fluorescent lamps"... and it's done!

We will need the following materials:

  • wooden frame (I bought in Ikea) for a photo 13 by 18cm;
  • sisal roll pressed;
  • small-small pebbles (for aquariums);
  • river sand;
  • sea stars;
  • pearl beads (not natural naturally);
  • various small beads;
  • shells are different;
  • glass beads;
  • plastic starfish (bought at a fabric store);
  • twine or cord.

Glue and varnish materials and tools:

  • construction PVA glue;
  • glue gun
  • glue for a glue gun;
  • acrylic paints;
  • sponges different sizes(can be replaced with a sponge);
  • the brush is the thinnest;
  • scissors;
  • dishes for diluting paints;
  • a plate with a spoon;

This is a frame, rear view. We need to unbend the brackets and get the back part with glass. We put the staples back in place.

Flipping the frame front side up. Cut a strip of sisal the width of the frame.

Gently pinch the sisal fibers from the edges with your fingers so that the cuts are not visible. That will be more natural. Do not throw away the torn fibers, they will still be useful to us.

Trying on our sisal stripes. We will post content on them.

We remove the sisal and apply PVA glue to these places with a sponge or sponge.

We glue the sisal, press it where it leaves. Waiting for it to dry a little.

Pour small pebbles into a plate.

Sprinkle the edges over the plate and that's what happened.

Now, with the help of a spoon, sprinkle with fine sand and resort to using a hair dryer.

We roll the not thrown out torn sisal fibers into a ball and wrap them lightly with twine. Attach with a glue gun. The end is not cut off.

We flatten a little and glue it to the frame at the place where the largest element will be located - a starfish! We need this flattened ball to create volume. In fact, we are now making a collage with you. Now, it's beautiful!

And now the most interesting! We fill the frame with materials, continuing to create volume. Glue is applied directly to the material to be glued, in sufficient quantities. I first "tried on" the materials, and then glued.

We add shells, pebbles, plastic stars ... I laid shells with sharp spouts like arrows from a star, as if creating a direction, movement. There is more material along the length of the frame. The height is less.

Uncut twine is also beautifully laid so that there are natural lines, smooth. I just twist it with my fingers and let it go. He lays down on his own. glue gun fixed in several places. And you can already cut off, leaving a margin. Beautiful, is not it?

I twisted the twine with serpentine and glued it flat. It turned out interesting.

Leave the top right corner unattended. It shouldn't be bulky. It should complement the main left bottom corner. Some material must be repeated. I repeated the plastic stars and a little later I put a circle of twine.

We continue to lay out the twine. It shouldn't break abruptly. There must be movement and fluidity in everything. Imagine that it is a current or a wave. We cut off the excess and be sure to hide the tip under some material.

Here's what happened. I guess you can stop there, insert a photo and admire your work, but for me it's very primitive, then plastic stars... No, it's definitely not for me, so I'm moving on to the next step!

We mix the paint. I took blue, black and white colors and mixed them up.

The color is too dark blue. I decided that I needed to add red and blue, because. there is violet in the sky in the photo. And blue plus red equals purple))) I love to color!

We paint the inner surface of the frame with the paint that suits you. It is convenient to paint with a small sponge "bang" movements. That's why he's a sponge. This will be our main color.

Then we move on to the front.

We paint over all the shells.

In a small cup, pour a little of the main color and add black paint.

We paint all internal hard-to-reach places with a thin brush, screwing the brush into all the depressions.

After everything is painted over, paint the frame with the main color. Don't forget to rinse your brushes and sponges!

More or less like this.

We take acrylic paint silver and gold, mix them, put them on the sponge and, barely touching, go through the frame. Only the protruding parts will be painted.

And here is the marine texture. Shine, shine! This is exactly what I was looking for.

And it remains to revive our collage a little. I glued a yellowish pearl into the open shell. I used white but didn't like it.

And I freed the glued glass beads from the previously applied paint and got droplets of water or, as in childhood under glass, secrets))) A shell shines through one such secret. Mysterious and mysterious sea secrets...

And here is the frame itself!

I decided that there was no need to varnish, let it stand a little, suddenly I decide to "pat it")))

If you decide to cover it all the same, then with acrylic matte varnish!

I wish you health and creative success!

This master class describes the process of making a photo frame from a bottle using an available natural material. Due to the natural optical effect of bottle glass, the image is voluminous. The photograph literally merges with the miniature shore, and it is already difficult to understand where the picture is and where the reality is.

Good day to all residents of the city by the sea!

This greeting is not accidental, because it was the sea that inspired us for today's master class. Surely all our readers have already managed to visit the seashore and, of course, take a couple of photos for memory. Today we invite you to make suitable frames for these photos with us. Soft round nautical-style photo frames that resemble ship or submarine portholes are just the thing to keep summer memories alive.

To create these photo frames, we need two types of cardboard: thick for the base and thinner for the back of the frame. In addition to cardboard, you will also need a nautical-style fabric, anchor buttons, a decorative cord resembling a rope, a little pillow filler, a transparent glue moment, thick threads for an eyelet, simple sewing accessories and a circle. You can easily find all materials in sewing shops and stationery departments of our city.

When everything you need is already in front of you, you can proceed! First, we make the cardboard base of the frame. To do this, using a compass, draw a circle that will determine the final dimensions of your photo frame, it all depends on your desire! The frame can be of any size.

Along the contour of the first circle from thick cardboard, we cut out the second circle from softer cardboard, which will cover the frame from the back.

Now it's time to cut out the fabric frame itself. Fold the fabric of your choice in half, right sides facing in. Put the cardboard base on top and circle it in a circle, adding a 3 cm allowance for the hem of the edge.

take away cardboard template, set aside 9 cm from the edge line to the middle of the circle and cut out the middle as shown in the photo.

Sew the resulting "donut" from the fabric along the inner contour,

carefully notch the edges of the allowance without touching the lines

and turn the part so that the allowances are between the two halves of the main part.

Now you need to lay a line along the outer edge of the part,

leaving at the same time a hole through which it will be convenient to fill the “donut” with pillow filler.

At this stage, it is important not to overdo it and not to stuff the mold too tight. Evenly distribute the filler in a circle, while leaving the workpiece fairly free, and then stitch the hole on the typewriter.

Now take a circle of thick cardboard and cover it with the resulting blank, bending the allowances to the wrong side.

For a stronger hold of the base of the frame on the cardboard, tightly tighten the edges of the allowance with threads from the wrong side as shown in the photo.

The frame for the photo is almost ready, it remains to decorate its wrong side. To do this, we take a second cardboard circle and, using dense threads folded several times and a needle with a wide eye, we make a loop on it.

Use glue to fix the cardboard to the main part.

The bonding effect will be much better if the parts are left under pressure for 15-20 minutes.

After the glue dries well, you can proceed to the most exciting moment - final decor frames. Here you can give free rein to your imagination and decorate the frame the way you want, giving it a special unique personality! For example, you can sew buttons of various sizes to it, but in a single marine theme, and run a thick decorative cord with tassels along the edge.

That's all! You just have to insert a photo inside the circle, gently sliding it under the soft inner edges.

Such a marine frame can be used as a decoration own house, and great gift close person.

Give and receive gifts, make your plans come true and good luck to everyone, your LOARA workshop.
